  3. Hello, Travelers! Genshin Impact’s dev team here, eager to share with you some early intel on Dragonspine, our first new map addition which will come to the game on December 23. Dragonspine is a frozen mountain range in the south of Mondstadt that few dare to set foot in. As one of the most inhospitable areas in Teyvat, exploring Dragonspine won’t be a walk in the park. To help Travelers gear up for this brand-new experience, we’ve put together some tips you might want to take note of. All Travelers will be able to explore a brand-new immersive environment full of new creatures, mysteries, treasures, and dangers to discover. Whether you choose to investigate the area with Mondstadt’s genius alchemist, Albedo during the upcoming seasonal event, explore the mountain for yourself and discover every inch of the mountains and the secrets they hold, or simply hone your survival skills in this beautiful but brutal environment, Dragonspine has something to offer for every intrepid explorer. A Glance at This World of Ice Covered by snow all year round, Dragonspine sits in a state of constant cold and gloom — in stark contrast to the other environments across Mondstadt and Liyue. Dragonspine stands like a frozen fortress, giving precious little for most living beings to survive on. However, there are still some unique and miraculous species to be found here. The hilichurls that have managed to survive on the mountain have had their appearances and lives shaped by the brutal environment. But on closer inspection, the creatures now living here don’t seem to be the first residents of this mysterious landscape. Deep in the mountains lie buried the traces of a lost ancient civilization, waiting to be discovered. Survive the Extreme Cold Nothing is easy at high altitudes and extremely low temperatures. Before focusing on loot and treasures, all Travelers in Dragonspine have to first strive to survive. Besides your HP and Stamina, you will need to pay close attention to Sheer Cold while fighting, exploring, or even just standing still. The Sheer Cold bar immediately appears above your HP bar once you enter the Dragonspine area. Sheer Cold will go up if you’re exposed to the cold without any heat source, and once the bar is full you will start losing your health. Unless you find some warmth to stave off the Sheer Cold, this will eventually lead to your death. Therefore, the constant search for a heat source quickly becomes your primary task as you traverse this snowy landscape. Waypoints, lit torches and cooking pots, and even the Seelie in Dragonspine can all serve as heat sources on your way. You can also mine Scarlet Quartz, a common find in Dragonspine, to temporarily combat Sheer Cold. Furthermore, once you progress further into Dragonspine, you can unlock a new recipe to craft a temporary portable heat source. Remember: Only with enough heat can you proceed through your adventure in Dragonspine! Unearth the Secrets Beneath the Snow Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Despite the inhospitable cold and the danger lurking around every corner, Dragonspine offers generous rewards to those who manage to explore deep into the mountain and conquer its tallest peak. To reach the top of Dragonspine, Travelers need to first unseal strange air currents blocking the path. Meanwhile, buried deep in the mountains lies a long-lost ancient civilization, with only stone slabs, tablets, and relics remaining to tell the story of its glory and fall. The more curious and observant Travelers will be able to trigger a series of hidden quests, piece together the clues, uncover the hidden truth, and claim a new 4-star claymore Snow-Tombed Starsilver. The mountain is also home to some very special ingredients, minerals, recipes, artifacts, and weapons found nowhere else, some of which are certain to come in handy. For instance, Travelers may randomly come across some Dragon’s teeth, which can be forged into the Dragonspine Spear by the weaponsmith at the camp in the foothills. While exploring Dragonspine, Travelers may also come across some small fragments of a material called Crimson Agate. Collect them and offer them to the Frostbearing Tree to claim rewards useful in battle and exploration, including crafting recipes for the portable heat source Warming Bottle and the new 4-star catalyst Frostbearer. Exciting Seasonal Event The upcoming winter event “The Chalk Prince and the Dragon” will be set in the new Dragonspine area. All Travelers at Adventure Rank 20 or above will be able to participate in this new event. In the event’s storyline, you will be assisting the new 5-star character Albedo, Chief Alchemist and Captain of the Investigation Team of the Knights of Favonius in Mondstadt, to investigate Dragonspine and a mysterious, powerful sword called Festering Desire. Travelers who finish the storyline quests will be able to keep and use Festering Desire in their future adventures. By completing additional event tasks and redeeming relevant items from the event shop, players can even raise Festering Desire to its max refinement level! Hopefully, these tips will help you as you set off on your adventures in Dragonspine! There is still a lot more going on in Version 1.2, and we don’t want to spoil all the surprises. Still eager to know more? Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and the Genshin Impact Forums. May you survive and thrive through the winter in Dragonspine, Travelers! http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/GE4il-GNmjgView the full article
  4. Hey, Josef Fares here, and I’m the founder and creative director of Hazelight. Everyone here at the studio is really excited to show what we’ve been working so hard on to finally reveal. Our new game, It Takes Two, is a co-op platform adventure that’s going to blow your mind, and it’s coming to PS4 and PS5 on March 26, 2021. After the success of A Way Out, we definitely wanted to create another co-op game. I think co-op games are very underrated for telling strong stories. There’s so much to be explored, especially from a narrative perspective. When you’re watching a movie or going to the theatre, doing it together is always more fun. We’ve seen this in A Way Out as well and it will be an even stronger experience in It Takes Two, so that’s something we’re super excited for. Just as with A Way Out, we’ll have the Friend’s Pass. That means that you will only have to buy the game once, and your friends can join for free. If you buy a game that’s created for co-op, it’s only fair that your friends can play it with you, without having to buy it for themselves. There’s an entire page about it over at the official EA website, so check it out if you want to know more. It Takes Two is literally a romantic comedy, which isn’t that usual in video games. It’s about a small family, a little girl, Rose, the father Cody, and the mother May. Cody and May are about to separate. Rose is devastated about it of course, so she creates these two dolls representing her parents that magically come to life in this fantastical world. You and a friend will play the game as the doll versions of Cody and May, and you’ll go through a lot of weird and messed up things from there on. I think people will be surprised by how touching and also hilarious the story is and how it will evolve. We also have this very crazy book character in the story, Dr. Hakim, who’s kind of a love guru, and will try and put Cody’s and May’s relationship back together by throwing them into a lot of unexpected situations. What we’re really pushing for, is for the story to go hand in hand with the gameplay. Narratively driven games in general need less repetitive gameplay, and more mechanics that actually fits within the story. In It Takes Two, there are moments where we actually connect Cody’s and May’s own emotions to the gameplay. It’s hard to explain if you haven’t played it, but this is really important to us. It’s important because you see a lot of games where it’s almost like the designers and writers are doing two different experiences. Another thing about the gameplay is its huge variety, blending a lot of different game genres. You will be shocked by it! And the variety isn’t just there for the sake of it. Variety in itself is important to keep it fresh, yes, but again, it’s actually there to reflect what’s going on in the story. Our goal is to have players wanting to finish the game and play 100% of it and not just 30% – which is often the case. It Takes Two is going to be a wild roller coaster ride through a lot of emotions. I love messing with players’ minds! Making them second-guess. But at the end of the day, this is a story about love. I promise that you will definitely feel something when you’re done with it. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/8SO8IfzSzhAView the full article
  5. Hi Everyone, as Housemarque celebrates 25 years this year, we can look back at a lot of wonderful projects we’ve done with PlayStation. Over the last 14 years we have been able to leave our mark on the arcade genre with titles like Stardust, Dead Nation, and Alienation. One of our most memorable games was Resogun, a PS4 launch title that won us many awards. So we are happy to announce that you will be able to play our PS5 debut, Returnal, when it launches on March 19, 2021. It marks a great milestone for us as our most ambitious project to date. With Returnal, we’re creating a huge third person action title and exploring narrative storytelling. In Returnal you get to dive deep into the mind of Selene, an Astra space scout trapped in a hellish loop of endless resurrection while trapped on a hostile planet. The roguelike formula mixed with exploration platformer elements allow for a unique way to explore the planet and continue the battle she is fighting. Of course, there will be plenty of Housemarque arcade flourishes present, so prepare to be bombarded by volleys of bullet-hell projectiles along the way. Not only can you look forward to getting back into the battle almost instantly with super fast loading times, but we’re using the haptic feedback of the DualSense wireless controller to give players extra awareness of gameplay. You’ll be able to feel the natural ambience of this alien planet as the controller mimics its environmental effects. Every weapon has an alternative firing mode, and each of these “Alt-Fire” modes can be found on any weapon. By using the Adaptive Trigger players can move seamlessly between aiming down sights and activating Alt-Fire: Squeeze it halfway down to aim down the iron sights; squeeze it all the way down to activate your rechargeable Alt-Fire attack. Switching between modes on a single trigger will become second nature in no time. Players should also be prepared to be haunted by the extremely realistic 3D audio capabilities of PS5 with compatible headphones. In Returnal we have taken audio immersion to new levels, and the soundscape will add a whole new layer of comprehending the action around you. Even in a moment of silence you can take in the atmosphere and feel like you are actually alone on an alien planet, with the soundscape created from the elements. So look forward to getting your hands on Returnal on March 19 and join Selene on a brand new Housemarque adventure at the edge of the galaxy only on PlayStation 5! http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/pI8Cuf1iOTAView the full article
  6. Vikhor “Stitch” Kuzmin, a dangerous enemy from Russell Adler’s past, is back with a vengeance and enough Nova 6 nerve gas to shift the balance of the Cold War. In Season One of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, you’ll not only fight back across numerous new Multiplayer maps, but also drop in on Rebirth Island, the very place that Adler cost Stitch his sanity and his left eye. Play Video Survive Rebirth Island, Two New Gulags in Warzone An entirely new battle royale experience comes to Warzone in the form of the experimental Soviet bioweapons site and prison known as Rebirth Island. To celebrate, dive into this new map and complete a limited-time event with over a dozen free rewards to discover, as well as more hidden, shocking secrets. Defined by intense and frenetic close-quarters combat, Rebirth Island is an all-new, small-scale map that features a player count similar to a Mini BR match. Trios and Quads will brawl across dozens of new locales, and with the new Resurgence game mode, where respawns happen every 30 seconds, there won’t be a shortage of epic moments and reinforcements until the last squad is left standing. Along with Rebirth Island and the introduction of Black Ops Cold War weaponry, Warzone also has two new Gulags to explore: a scaled-down version of Nuketown for Verdansk, and a small arena featuring metal detectors for Rebirth Island. Don’t forget Season One is the start of integration between titles. Gain XP and level up in either game and get ready for a bigger Gunsmith table as the entire Black Ops Cold War arsenal becomes available within Warzone. Eight Multiplayer Maps for Black Ops Cold War The Pines and Raid Two new maps primed for 6v6 combat will also be available at launch, including the return of the iconic Black Ops II locale Raid. As for The Pines, this New Jersey mall is filled with neon-lit shops that give way to close-quarters combat, with the main walkways between the stores open enough for mid-range play and sniping duels. Gunfight Returns The duo-based Multiplayer mode is back for Black Ops Cold War, complete with four new locales to prove mastery in with random loadouts every two rounds. At its launch, you’ll descend into the underground tunnels of U-Bahn, circle around a massive missile in ICBM, play host to carnage in Game Show, and infiltrate a Soviet headquarters in KGB. Nuketown ’84 Holiday One of the most iconic Black Ops maps has returned in the lead-up to Season One. Now, get ready to celebrate a festive take on this Nevada testing ground; there’s a new glow coming to Nuketown ’84 this holiday season. Sanatorium Expands Fireteam In-Season Fireteam will receive a brand-new map in Sanatorium later in January. This experimental Soviet health retreat features water combat via a lake that’s overlooked by the sprawling complex. As you fight nine other squads within the wooded hills, on the large dock, or within the hotel, be on the lookout for documents that have to do with Project Golova. Season One of Black Ops Cold War and Warzone is live on PlayStation on December 15 at 11 PM PST. Mark your calendars and prepare to infiltrate. It’s time to take down Stitch… … or help him and Perseus take over the world. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/leiKmbZFrB0View the full article
  7. Close your eyes, take a deep breath and let yourself be carried away by the journey of Season, a third-person atmospheric adventure bicycle road trip game. The premise of Season is that you play a traveller recording the last moments of different cultures before they’re washed away. Through the eyes of a young woman from a faraway village, you explore the world for the first time. Play Video The gameplay is centered around biking, exploring, recording photographs or audio, and encountering local people. The player character is there in the critical moment, just as everything is about to change. You are not there to stop the change but to bear witness to it, to make recordings and attempt to understand what is being lost before it’s gone. The mission is similar to making a time capsule, deciding what would capture the spirit of the time period and carry it onwards. It’s a strong action to perform in the face of an uncertain future. The feeling that the good times are over is even more pervasive now than it was when we started working on Season many years ago. The world of Season is a unique mix of past and present, where the mundane blends with the surreal, creating something that feels otherworldly yet relatable, strange yet familiar. Season’s art direction is inspired by illustrators, painters, and natural light cinematographers. It has been specially developed from the ground up to fit the feeling of the world we are building. It is inspired by the early Japanese woodblock print artists, as well as mid-20th century poster artists such as Norman Wilkinson. It is a minimalist approach to realism. This simplification mindset, getting rid of rather than adding details, set the guidelines we kept in mind while developing the overall look for the game. In Season, the mood is warm and melancholic. It’s a world at the end of a golden age, where you take a bittersweet last look before it becomes a distant, faded memory. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/pceZC2uXVesView the full article
  8. Hey everyone! We’re thrilled to tell you all about Endless Dungeon today, Amplitude Studios’ return to the acclaimed Endless Universe and our next foray into the rogue-lite genre! We may be best known for our turn-based strategy games, but many of us have a soft spot for rogue-lites and dungeon crawlers, so we’re excited to dive back in with our new rogue-lite tactical action game. Play Video Shipwrecked on an abandoned space station of the ancient and powerful Endless civilization, your only hope of ever leaving is to unravel the secrets of this place. You assemble your team of heroes and defend your crystal against never-ending waves of monsters as you delve deep into the heart of this cursed place… or (perhaps inevitably) die trying, and find yourself back where you began, for death is not the end here. But it’s always best to be prepared, so what can you expect to find in the Endless Dungeon? A Brand New Story in the Endless Universe The Endless universe is full of mysteries, but stranded on this station there is only one you truly care about: What is keeping you trapped on this station and coming back to live? As many stories as this place and the people here have to tell, you don’t fancy sticking around for decades like some of them… Tactical Team-building Exercise You’re not the only one who wants to get out of here, so gather your posse from a colorful roster of characters and see if this time, your combined skills are enough to make it to the heart of the station. Switch between heroes on the fly in single player, or bring along a friend to face the Endless threats together in co-op. Dangerous Exploration, at your own pace When just about everything on the station is trying to kill you, you might need a break. So take a breather. Look around. Plan and prepare. Then kick down the next door and let another wave of monsters crash over you in a frenzy of claws and gunfire until only you or they are left standing. (We do not recommend actually kicking the doors, as they’re quite robust…) Rock-hard Defenses You may not know what this crystal is, but you know it’s vital to your survival and your escape. You need it to unlock doors and power the systems of this station so you can finally leave, but all these critters around have an appetite for it. Luckily, you have a variety of turrets and other automated defenses at your disposal, so you can always bring an extra gun or two to the showdown. Hang on a minute! Crashed in the ruins of an ancient precursor empire? A mysterious crystal to power their wondrous technology? Turrets to fend of endless waves of enemies that make escape virtually impossible? All of this will sound very familiar to fans of the Endless Universe, reminding them of our first venture into the rogue-lite genre, Dungeon of the Endless. That spiritual ancestor to Endless Dungeon was born from an idea – more of a joke, really – kicked around at one of our community events. A small team of devs assembled a prototype, and we knew we had something special on our hands with our “Roguelike Tower-Defense Dungeon Crawler”: It’s as wild a ride as that mouthful of a genre description. Yet we did not expect it to become such a hit with our fans, a passionate community quickly growing around it. We’ve learned a lot from making that game, the feedback our community gave us, and the stories they told of their best moments with it. So we’ve taken it back to the drawing board and built an entirely new experience with the same spirit, emphasizing direct control of the action and a great multiplayer experience, while keeping the same focus on tactical combat, wave-based defenses, and exploration! http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/96UUE_7fGmMView the full article
  9. Hello, PlayStation people! This is ZA/UM here to tell you that our award-winning urban RPG Disco Elysium is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in March 2021. We’re very excited for you all to check it out. We’ve called the version you’ll be playing Disco Elysium – The Final Cut as we’ve been busy wrapping up everything we wanted to do with the game since releasing it for PC in 2019, and putting a pretty little bow on it. We’ve added over 150,000 words with new quests that let you explore your character’s political dreams — you’ll set out to rebuild your party, get filthy rich, or attempt to turn back time. Expect to see some truly monumental sights along the way, meet new characters, and explore a whole new area. If you’re playing on PlayStation 5, you’ll be able to experience Disco Elysium – The Final Cut in 4K resolution and at 60 frames per second. We’re also thrilled to announce that after hundreds of hours in the recording studio, Disco Elysium now has full voice-acting for every character, so you can have the entire game read out loud to you. The number of supported languages has also been increased to include French, German, Russian, Spanish, Brazilian-Portuguese, and Korean so more people around the world can enjoy it. Disco Elysium is about a detective who wakes up in a rundown coastal district with a banging headache and only a few dregs of memory left. You set out to discover what happened to him inside the unique world we have created. We’ve thrown together disco music, early motor carriages, and post-revolutionary angst for our setting, and brought it all to life with actual oil paintings. You have the kind of freedom to explore it all that’s only really experienced when playing tabletop role-playing games, like Dungeons & Dragons. In fact, Disco Elysium started out life as a tabletop game with rulebooks and dice rolls. This is why big moments in the game are decided by the roll of dice and why we’ve ensured that failing these rolls is just as fun as succeeding. Adapting from the tabletop experience has enabled us to engineer a story with an absurd number of possible outcomes. We have written over a million words to accommodate the many, many ways you can approach and tackle each situation — whether it’s solving a murder, singing karaoke, hustling a billionaire, or solving the meaning of life. But you won’t be alone as you tackle the problems that our world presents. Unlike other RPGs, the 24 skills in Disco Elysium have distinct personalities that talk to you from inside our main character’s head. They come in four overarching categories: Intellect, Psyche, Physique, and Motorics. You can level these skills up to increase your proficiency in them and unlock new solutions. Put points in Hand/Eye Coordination and you’ll be able to catch a coin flicked through the air at you and look cool doing it. Or really pump up your Physical Instrument skill and you may be able to strong arm your way past a man built like a bulldozer who’s blocking your path. Likewise, if you don’t have a high Perception skill you could miss out on details in the surroundings that may help with your investigation. Then there’s the Thought Cabinet. As you interrogate, sweet-talk, or gossip with the citizens of our city block you’ll happen across new thoughts. These are put into your Thought Cabinet, which is an inventory for thoughts, where you can cook them over time to become part of your identity. Doing this gives you more dialogue options that may help you progress, or potentially get you further into trouble. That covers most of the basics of Disco Elysium – The Final Cut. The rest of it you’ll have to discover yourself. Which just leaves us to thank everyone for the support and to wish you good luck as you set out to become a hero or an absolute disaster of a human being. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/5wO5bjR67iAView the full article
  10. Robin Hood was never just one person. Over the years many real-life and fictional people have contributed to the legend. Like any good story it has been adapted and embellished over the years for different audiences and indeed political motivations. We wanted to go back to basics. If you go back to the earliest stories, Robin Hood was a cruel outlaw who stole and killed in cold blood and without remorse. It is only much later that he becomes more altruistic, gentrified and heroic. This led us to ask, “what would it be like if HBO did Robin Hood in a Game of Thrones style?” But perhaps more “Battle of the Bastards” than the dragons… With Hood: Outlaws and Legends we wanted to (again) adapt and reimagine the legend for a new audience and our own purposes. The fact that there was a patchwork of origin stories with no one definitive Robin Hood, felt like a perfect basis for a multiplayer game. Hood is not one person. It is an idea. A symbol to the people. It is a mantle that is passed on from one person to another to maintain the myth – like Black Panther or The Dread Pirate Roberts. We asked what if in the incumbent Hood has died suddenly with no clear successor. Who would step into that vacuum? As anyone who watched the 1980’s Robin of Sherwood series will know the two top contenders for the Hood title are Robin and Loxley and Robin of Huntingdon. (by the way Micheal Praed should never have left to do Dynasty but don’t get me started on that one) So we had our set-up, two gangs of outlaws, locked in battle, each vying to pull off an audacious heist. Both seeking to be hailed by the people as the real “Hood.” The Outlaws In a world where the people are oppressed, outlaws can become heroes. But our outlaws are not completely altruistic. Each is an outcast from society, the disenfranchised, the shunned, the disowned. They are WOLFS HEADS – they have no more rights than a wolf and can be killed on sight. Each have their own reason to seek revenge on the State. They steal from the rich – to hurt the rich. When we looked at the other player characters, as with Hood, we decided to take what worked from the legend and reworked them for our gameplay needs. We needed a diverse team whose skills could be combined to pull off a daring heist. Hood is of course the Ranger skilled at ranged combat. He can hide in the shadows or perch at a high window and support the team from a distance. He can tag targets and remove threats with his longbow. His explosive arrow ability can be devastating to tightly packed groups, and can even down the dreaded Sheriff – for a while at least. Little John has become John Nailer, a Brawler, close combat specialist and general tank. His deadly hammer can kill with a single blow, while his Wrath ability turns him into an unstoppable melee powerhouse with endless stamina. If your team is trapped and all seems lost, he is the only outlaw strong enough to raise the portcullis and open up an escape route for the team. Friar Tuck we morphed into Tooke – a scarred ex-State inquisitor. His flail makes him strong at close and mid-range combat, while his mystical abilities can heal and support his team, revealing the position of nearby enemies. Maid Marion moved from being a damsel in distress to a warrior and leader in her own right, which is indeed how some of the legends already depicted her. Her burst-fire crossbow and assassination skills terrorise the enemy, while her smoke grenades and invisibility ability bring a stealthy advantage to any heist. The State & Wider World We deliberately stayed away from a named time period or try to recreate specific real-world locations. Not being tied to historical, or indeed geographical, accuracy gave us the freedom to make the gameplay we wanted. Our enemy is an un-named power known simply as The State, represented by the AI-driven guards and Sheriff that oppose both teams during heists. It is not supposed to be any historical faction but rather a representation of corrupted power and authority. Imposing its will on the common people. The State buildings are exaggerated projection of their power – much bigger than any that would have existed then – but they make for more fun gameplay. In fact, “following the fun” is the mantra we adopted throughout development. For the weapons and armour we played fast and loose – blatantly stealing from other cultures and (close-ish) time periods or just making stuff up because it’s cool, like Marianne’s triple crossbow. With the maps and biomes we again went for what looked cool and worked best for gameplay. We have huge Citadels and some snow-capped mountains you would be hard pushed to find in England. There are however ample references and nods to the legends for those looking for them – Barnsdale Outpost and Fountaindale, for example. Summary With Hood, we wanted to create a dark and brutal re-imagining of the traditional legend, where old world myth and superstition clashed with man-made power and corruption. We also wanted to bring a new and fresh twist to the multiplayer heist genre. In some ways, because we never explain who Hood is, never give him a single origin story, it could be argued that ours is one of the more honest representations of the lore. This is after all not trying to tell a story based in historical fact, or even historical fiction. It is the story of a legend. Play Video Hood: Outlaws & Legends releases on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on May 10, 2021. Pre-order players will get exclusive bonuses and early access to the game from May 7, three days before the official release. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/bZ720u3GuDAView the full article
  11. When our team began working on Shady Part of Me, we wanted to bring to life a world that oscillates between dream and reality, a spellbinding world born of the doubts, past experiences and hopes of a little girl in search of freedom. We are proud of the result, and today I’m thrilled to unveil more details about the dreamlike world we created! Play Video A dream come true The visual aspect has always been at the heart of our thinking, from the beginning of the game’s design. This artistic render is closely linked to the backgrounds of our seven members, of which most of us come from the world of animation. Accustomed to working from preparatory drawings or sketches sometimes simply scribbled in the corner of a notebook, we wanted to keep this hand-made feeling in-game. To do so, we developed our own graphics engine with the objective of getting as close as possible to a drawing that’s come to life. Each environment is like a living sketch waiting to be explored. The universe of Shady Part of Me is not directly perceived through the eyes of the little girl you embody, it is a surreal and distorted projection of her mind. Her personality has split into two distinct parts, each evolving in a different perspective through this dreamlike universe. It is by cooperating with these two facets of her own personality that she can finally find freedom. Each environment is composed of two levels of perception. The first is the 3D foreground, made up of intertwined memory fragments, while the second lies in its projection on the wall in the background, through the casting of light and shadows at the heart of the puzzles. Like a painting to explore We wanted the artistic style to reflect and carry the story, while giving the adventure a unique and eye-catching look. We painted a picture of this strange universe, inspired in parts by Alice in Wonderland. The game unfolds in a succession of curious and twisted environments, with each environment reflecting the little girl’s interpretation of the world around her, swaying between order and chaos. We value a freedom of exploration, as much aesthetic as narrative. The game makes extensive use of environmental storytelling, with shards of memories inscribed on the walls, graphic onomatopoeia and many small details that bring this world to life. By playing the game, you will grow to understand the relationship between the two parts of the little girl: their fears, strengths and bonds. 12. Kazuhiro here. I’m excited to bring Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia back to PlayStation tomorrow — this time on PS4! (bonus: it’s playable on PS5). It’s been a long time coming, so we’re celebrating the launch with a free Dynamic PS4 Theme for all purchases and the “Titans and the Iron Front” day 1 patch. We have a new trailer to show off all of the updates and new content but first, I thought I’d share how my Brigandine dream came true, tell you about the new Brigandine, and provide some tips to help you conquer nations and bring peace to Runersia. Reviving a SRPG PlayStation Classic for PlayStation 4 I happened to join Happinet when a subsidiary company, E3 Staff, released Brigandine: The Legend of Forsena 22 years ago and became a huge fan of the game. I had hoped to one day work with E3 Staff but the team disbanded and with them went my dream of working on a Brigandine game. A decade later, the game development department reopened and eventually I was tasked with reviving the Brigandine series! Of course, we considered doing a remake, but with the original creators unavailable we decided to create a new game with a new team that would still have the core mechanics that made Brigandine unique, but improve on elements that would make the experience more enjoyable. From there I set out to bring together a team that truly understood what we wanted to achieve with Runersia and had the experience to bring the vision to life. I’m proud to say the Matrix team which included Kenji Terada on script, Raita Kazama on art and character design, and music from Tenpei Sato achieved this goal. Unify the Continent of Runersia in your Own Way There are hundreds of hours of gameplay in Runersia — a single plot line can take over 30 hours. Starting out you choose one of six nations to rule, with the aim of conquering Runersia. From there you command over 100 Rune Knights and lead monster troops of dragons, ghouls, and more into intense battles on hexagonal grid maps in the tactical turn-based battle system. With the free “Titans and the Iron Front” update that releases tomorrow, you’ll also be able to set customized difficulty levels, experience a new UI, encounter new high level monsters and enjoy lots of quality of life changes we made based on community feedback. There are a lot of updates so we’re showcasing them in this new trailer we’re unveiling on the blog! Play Video Tips and Tricks for Total Conquest in Runersia With Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia launching soon, we would like to share a few tips and tricks to guide players during their conquest over Runersia: Differences between difficulty levels These are long campaigns so you want to be sure you select the right difficulty level for you as you can’t change it later on in the story. Don’t forget you’ll be able to customize levels with the “Titans and the Iron Front” update! Combat Power Keep in mind when deciding to Attack or Defend that Combat Power parameters are combined power in terms of both Skill and Class: Simplify the process for smoother gameplay The L1 & R1 and other buttons can provide various functions in different scenarios so be sure to know your buttons and utilize them: In case you’re still unsure if you’re ready to join in the quest to conquer Runersia, you’ll be able to access a free demo tomorrow. The demo will include a Training mode to get you acquainted with the basics and a Trial mode where you’ll take on the role of the Brigandine of Justice in Easy mode. While the demo ends after your army reaches 10 seasons or 7 bases become occupied, you can try out different strategies and scenarios each time. The Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia will launch tomorrow on PS4 with the Titans and the Iron Front patch. Which nation will you start your conquest with? 14. Sony continues its bold foray into the future with the launch of PlayStation 5. Bungie is proud to partner with them and journey into the next generation of gaming with a revolutionary update to Destiny 2. Since the launch of Destiny 2’s latest expansion, Beyond Light, Bungie began harnessing the improved power of the PS5 console to deliver an optimized next-gen experience to players all over the world. With the launch of Beyond Light on November 10 we released our first next-gen improvements, with additional enhancements announced for release on December 8. Best of all, Destiny 2 owners who play on PlayStation 4 are able to upgrade to the optimized version on their new PlayStation 5, completely free. As soon as PlayStation 5 launched on November 12, owners began making use of the console’s ultra-fast SSD hardware to improve load times significantly. The faster load times affect systems throughout Destiny 2. From starting the game to loading UI elements, and even navigating through menus; multiple heavily trafficked areas of the game were upgraded to become smoother and more responsive. And launch was only the beginning. With today’s update, the next-gen optimized version of Destiny 2 brings console players a series of firsts. Destiny 2 will be playable at an awe-inspiring 4K resolution. But making the game look incredible was only half of the equation. Knowing how crucial fluid gameplay is to the action MMO, Bungie bundled this improvement in graphical fidelity with a buttery smooth 60 FPS. That’s 4K at 60 FPS – a first for Destiny 2 on console. Along with this responsive high-resolution presentation, another Destiny 2 first is included with this update: A customizable field of view slider. This hallmark of FPS gaming is a powerful feature that allows players to modify the way their character visually interprets every environment in the game. It’s an incredibly personal aesthetic that provides players with a custom way to view the world of Destiny 2. Think about whether you like pictures that are zoomed in and highlight specific subjects, or if you like pictures that are wider and allow you to take in an entire scene – the control to choose a view that feels natural is now at your fingertips. Coupled with the aesthetic improvement a custom field of view slider provides are numerous gameplay implications. When your view is wide, you can see more enemies, but those enemies are also much smaller and harder to aim at. Conversely, narrow your view and targets become much larger, but your peripheral vision is much more limited. No one option is “best” for everyone and every situation and therein lies the importance and power of this new feature. The only thing more impressive than these new features might be the seamless way players can upgrade to the PlayStation 5. In the past, console developers and game studios have faced a question when creating new hardware and updates to their games. Namely: Do players who upgrade lose their ability to group and adventure with players who do not upgrade? Furthermore, in a time when so many players have multiple ways to log into Destiny 2, are players asked to have multiple accounts, characters, and progress on each platform they use and own? The answer to both these questions is a resounding “no.” Bungie worked with Sony to ensure that PlayStation 5 owners are able to continue playing with everyone on PlayStation 4. Dividing the Destiny 2 universe was never an option. Bungie also made sure to provide players with Cross Save, a feature that empowers players to carry their characters and progress between multiple platforms. So, regardless of where you’re at: On the couch, at your desk, on your phone, previous generation or next generation, your characters are always available, and your friends are always a fireteam invite away. Great care was taken to ensure that nothing players had grown to love about the world of Destiny 2 was sacrificed. The feel of controlling a Guardian, the critically acclaimed gunplay and arial action is all present and familiar. And now, everything looks better, loads faster, and is more customizable. The stars have truly aligned for the launch of both Beyond Light and PlayStation 5. The new version of Destiny 2 steps into the next generation of gaming and as it does, Guardians take a giant leap into the frozen frontier of Europa. Power has certainly taken a new form, it’s in 4K, and it’s available today. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/ykV65D4-Ql4View the full article

  16. It’s showtime – Persona 5 Strikers is coming to the PlayStation 4 on February 23, 2021! Pre-order starts December 10th at 4PM PT/ December 11th 1AM BST. Persona 5 Strikers takes players on an epic road trip with the Phantom Thieves, where they strike back against the corruption overwhelming cities across Japan. A summer vacation with close friends takes a sudden turn as a distorted reality emerges; reveal the truth and redeem the hearts of those imprisoned at the center of the crisis. If you’re a new Phantom Thief, don’t be afraid to jump into Persona 5 Strikers. Because it’s a new story, you’ll be able to jump into the action and strike back alongside your fellow Phantom Thieves. Here’s a special message from Persona 5 Strikers Director Daisuke Kanada: “Because P5S is P5’s follow-up story, those who are familiar with P5 will probably be able to enjoy the game on a deeper level. That being said, because the story revolves around an all-new incident, I think people will still be able to enjoy the game even just by having a grasp on the characters and their relationships through the anime or manga. And, for those who love action games, I think it’s also perfectly fine to simply try this game out first, and then follow the backstory in P5 after. Ultimately, my hope is that everyone can experience the world of P5S, in whichever way they prefer.” Persona 5 Strikers releases on February 23 for PS4! 17. From all of us at IllFonic, we’d like to wish you all a happy holiday. To celebrate our busy year after one massive quarantine game launch, 15 DLC additions/game updates to Predator: Hunting Grounds, a new mode, a new map, and countless new game additions, we have saved the BEAST for the holidays… Yes, that’s right. Today, December 8, our paid DLC pack introduces a brand-new character to the Predator lore. Help us in welcoming Dante “Beast Mode” Jefferson – brought to life with voice and looks of football legend Marshawn Lynch. Recruited into a special ops group early in his military career, Dante “Beast Mode” Jefferson earned a reputation for ruthless ferocity in combat. Using his signature explosive weaponry, Dante led his team through multiple missions worldwide with incomparable success. During one covert mission in the jungles of Thailand, his team was hunted by a Predator. He watched as his team was dragged off one by one and slaughtered. Dante was forced to hunt the killer on his own, and with a well-placed B34S-T rocket, managed to destroy the Predator, leaving no trace. After calling for an exfil, Dante was picked up and flown to an undisclosed location, finding himself face to face with Dutch, who had an offer: join his team… So, he did. Tell you more about the B34S-T rocket, you ask… Beast Mode’s custom B34S-T (BEAST) rocket launcher mimics the power of its owner. Built as an anti-armor weapon, this rocket-propelled grenade launcher quickly became a favorite of the OWLF. It’s also the only rocket launcher in the game. This behemoth of a weapon will be unlockable to all after our next update in February, but early access to the B34S-T rocket comes with purchasing the new Dante “Beast Mode” Jefferson DLC pack. That isn’t the only thing you’ll have access to this holiday season. The OWLF has opened up their R&D department to give you new toys. All players can now enjoy a new OWLF class unlocked at level 40 and multiple weapons as part of the free update. All players will also now be able to unlock the Battle Axe at level 85 which came with our Viking Predator update in October. We are adding a new OWLF Operative class, built with one job in mind, to take down the Predator in combat. Equipped with a thermal suit, the soldier’s infrared signature will be difficult for all to track. This power player will not need to mud up much, if at all. New weapons include: Proximity Detector Launcher – PDL (Level 43 Unlock): Using modified Predator technology, the OWLF retrofit a grenade launcher to fire proximity sensing mines. This new tool allows them to turn the tables on a Predator and become the hunter. Electromagnetic Pulse – EMP Mine (Level 80 Unlock): The OWLF whipped up this modified – EMP mine to interact with Predator tech. When triggered, it will knock out a Predator’s cloak and send their whole system into overload. Plasma Rifle (Level 135 Unlock): Fresh out of the OWLF’s R&D department, this projectile-based weapon fires a concentrated, explosive, plasma-energy round at a high velocity. Fully automatic, energy-based, with a venting process to reload the plasma shots. For more details, check out our patch notes. We suggest taking advantage of downtime this holiday season to practice for what’s to come… We can’t wait to share what we have in store for 2021. From all of us at IllFonic, we wish you a happy and healthy holiday season and cheers to a prosperous New Year! http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/LTFbKTzQz7AView the full article
  18. Hitman 3 is now less than 47 days away and I’m excited to share some of the work going on at IO Interactive right now to bring an awesome game to PS4 and PS5 owners on 20 January next year! First, our brand new Introducing Hitman 3 trailer invites you to enjoy new gameplay captured directly from our Glacier engine and witness the living, breathing world of assassination in full flow. Play Video A World of Assassination Hitman 3 puts you in full control of Agent 47’s deadly abilities, his razor-sharp instincts and a whole arsenal of weapons and tools that you’ll be able to use to master the art of assassination. As you embark on an action-packed adventure across the world, you’ll have new tools, weapons and items to help you plan your approach to each mission. Will you play cautiously, creatively, or chaotically? No matter your choice, you’ll be awarded a Playstyle based on how you performed. If you’re not a coveted Silent Assassin, maybe you’ll be a Hired Gun or even a Mixologist. There’s no wrong way to play Hitman 3, only your way. DualSense Controller Support On the PlayStation 5, Hitman 3 will support 4K visuals, 60 fps, HDR support, and faster load times. Plus, our free next-gen upgrade program allows PS4 owners (disc or digital) to upgrade to the PS5 version of the game at no additional charge. Of course, if you choose to buy the PS4 version on disc, you need to make sure to have a PS5 with a disc drive to take advantage of the offer. Let’s talk more about how Hitman 3 supports the DualSense wireless controller. All of the guns in the game will support adaptive triggers and you’ll feel an authentic sensation with each shot you fire. Automatic weapons also simulate recoil with every bullet and we’re implementing unique haptic feedback for each weapon that is tied to the distinct sound profile of each weapon. Essentially, we’re emulating what it feels like to fire a specific weapon in the same way that we’re replicating how each weapon sounds. One specific (and really cool!) example of our adaptive trigger support is how you activate the Focus effect that slows down the world around you with a sniper rifle. When you gently squeeze the R2 button, your finger will reach a tension point that will resist your pressure, and you’ll need to hold your finger against that tension point to activate the focus. When you’re ready to fire, push past that tension point and you’ll feel the “click” of the trigger as you fire the weapon. Boom. Headshot. PlayStation VR Support That’s not all! Hitman 3 will have full PS VR support. Yes, that means you can traverse the outside of the tallest building in the (Hitman) world in PS VR! If you own the previous games from the trilogy on PS4, you can also access locations from them within Hitman 3. That’s more than 20 Hitman locations from the World of Assassination trilogy to enjoy in PS VR. You can either play Hitman 3 in PS VR natively on your PS4 or via backward compatibility on PS5. To make sure all PS VR owners can experience the game in VR, we’re including a free digital copy of the PS4 version of Hitman 3 with all PS5 copies, whether you choose to buy it via disc or digital. It’s always exciting for us to reveal new information and show off more of a game that we’re extremely proud of. We can’t wait to see the game in your hands next year on January 20. See you in 2021! http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/_JLpncw_XC0View the full article

  22. PlayStation fans, Following the final battle of last Season, the Zero Point has become exposed. The danger? The Island’s Characters are now at risk of escaping the Loop. Unable to prevent this alone, Agent Jones has enlisted the help from realities beyond the Loop, including a reality PlayStation fans are well familiar with… Among the first figures to arrive beyond the Loop is Kratos. As Kratos, you may have taken down Valkyries of ages past, but now it’s time to fight a battle that will shape the future of the Island… Join the hunt to make sure no one escapes the Loop. Play Video Below, we’d like to share more about what it looks like to fight this consequential battle as Kratos — specifically, all his gear plus a brief overview of Chapter 2 – Season 5’s gameplay. Be What the Gods Have Made You Kicking off the new Gaming Legends series is the Oathbreaker set, comprised of the Kratos Outfit plus gear from his time in Midgard — all available now in the Item Shop for purchase. Take Kratos with you to join the hunt. In your previous feats as Kratos, you’ve probably put on many different kinds of armor. As a nod to his Norse adventures, when you play a match of Fortnite on your PlayStation 5 after purchasing the Kratos Outfit, you’ll unlock the Armored Kratos Style in glorious gold. Also available for purchase in the Item Shop is the Guardian Shield Glider, a memento of Kratos’ beloved wife Laufey the Just. And as Mimir gave you wisdom in Midgard, he also has your back on the Island: take the Head with you in battle in the form of the Mimir Back Bling. Brok and Sindri are on your side as well: harness the power of the Leviathan Axe as you harvest with the Leviathan Axe Pickaxe. The Leviathan Axe Pickaxe is special in more ways than one, as this Pickaxe includes a built-in Emote. With the built-in Freezing Burst Emote, show off the frozen leviathan. The Hunt is On At Epic, we’re excited to have Kratos join the hunt. Not only does his history make him a great candidate for Agent Jones’ mission, but his legendary status makes him an esteemed addition to the world of Fortnite. From Santa Monica Studio, Cory Barlog also mentioned excitement around the partnership: “Having Kratos in Fortnite is a mashup that we’ve been talking about for a long time, so it’s especially gratifying to see the collaboration come to fruition! The first thing I’ll do with Kratos in the game is hold hands or maybe go for a moonlit stroll with Mancake. I’m most excited about the Guardian Shield glider, that thing is AWESOME. I want to give a big thanks to all the devs over at Epic for the incredible job they did realizing Kratos in Fortnite. I’m truly in awe of their talent and passion.” Need a Chapter 2 – Season 5 primer before jumping in? You may have a familiar ally in Kratos, but the battle itself is quite different than in Seasons past. In addition to new weapons and locations, this Season brings brand new gameplay. As a hunter, you can take on quests and bounties from the Island’s Characters, get intel from them, purchase their “Exotic” weapons, or hire them to be on your side. And if you don’t want to negotiate, you can challenge them to a duel and reap the rewards. This exchange of goods and services runs on Bars: your reward for completing quests and bounties and eliminating players. (You can also find Bars stashed around the Island!) But be careful out there: others may have a bounty on you… Play Video Your targets are waiting. Join the hunt. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/foVUFnxy_EgView the full article

Starting today, we’ll be hosting the Battle Operations Winter Festival in-game. It’s free-to-play, so grab the chance to get in on the action if you haven’t done so yet! Konami Digital Entertainment Seitaro Kimura, Producer Thank you so much for this Grand Award. PES is on its 25th anniversary this year, so I’m really happy to mark the memorable moment with such recognition. As you all know, this year was particularly tough on the soccer industry owing to the circumstances. Leagues and tournaments around the world have been suspended or postponed. Since we produce our games based on actual play, we were naturally impacted by the situation, and we had to redo and revise a whole host of different initiatives. It’s thanks to the production staff, however, that we were able to get it all done anyway. Of course, it’s also thanks to all the efforts by our sales and PR teams, as well as all the other individuals involved that I stand here before you to receive the Grand Award on everyone’s behalf. Above all, though, I’m thankful to all our fans who have stayed through to us through all the years. I’m looking forward to offering gamers and football fans the world over the most exciting soccer game we’ve developed yet — stay tuned for more from us! On another note, eFootball PES 2021 Season Update is now on sale at a discounted price to commemorate our 25th anniversary. Here’s to hoping that we’ll be back here to accept an award for that title come next year! The PES Series — a step forward for eSports — What was your focal point for this 25th anniversary release? Kimura: This might not be the answer you’re expecting, but it’s not as if we thought to do anything in particular, just because it was our 25th anniversary release. We come out with new releases on a yearly basis, so we pull out all the stops on every version we work on. We gave it our all on this release, just as we do for every other one we do every year. — You added “eFootball” to the title. Are you planning to focus on eSports? Kimura: When ‘real’ soccer was interrupted/postponed about half a year ago, influencers and professional soccer players would play the game online and stream tournaments, providing a new avenue of entertainment for fans. The phenomenon showed us again the immense entertainment value of eSports, so we’re definitely moving forward in that area. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Bandai Namco Entertainment Ryosuke Hara, Producer Thank you so much for this wonderful award. I never even dreamed that I would be able to get involved in video games in this capacity, let alone in Dragon Ball! This award is, of course, impossible for a youngster like me to achieve all on his own. It was with the help of a whole host of people, including CyberConnect2, our developer, the copyright owners, overseas distributors, internal and external members that allowed for such an achievement to happen today. Of course, above all, it’s thanks to you, the fans from all over the world, who made this happen. I send you my sincerest of thanks. On another note, we’re underway with development on a big DLC. I’m so sorry to have kept you waiting, but I think that fans of Dragon Ball Z will find that it was well worth the wait in the end. We look forward to your continued support! Making an RPG out of the Dragon Ball story — There have been many Dragon Ball games up until now. Tell us how the concept for this title came to be the “Super Goku experience?” Hara: In order to showcase Dragon Ball Z in all its greatness, I thought it necessary to show not just the intense battles and famous scenes, but also everyday life and simple funny scenes unique to Akira Toriyama. The suitable genre for this ended up being an action RPG. We pulled out the stops to let users embody Goku and do absolutely anything and everything they want using him, so the resulting concept became the “Super Goku experience.” In the last few years, we’ve seen a number of Dragon Ball games that allow you to experience the Dragon Ball world from a third person perspective. But there wasn’t any that really allowed you to experience the Dragon Ball World as Goku himself, until now. — Do you have any memorable encounters with fans of Dragon Ball around the world as well as the media? Hara: We announced this title in the E3 2019 in Los Angeles, and I remember fielding some really hard-hitting questions from journalists from all over the world. Among those questions I remember one distinctly — “Do you understand what an incredible feat it is to create an RPG out of Dragon Ball?”. I was already feeling quite the pressure before hearing this question, but being told this at the event really had my wheels spinning and I felt like I really put some extra energy into making the end product come out right. Final Fantasy VII Remake Square Enix Yoshinori Kitase, Producer, Final Fantasy VII Remake Thank you very much for this wonderful award. We’re glad to be able to make an addition to our cabinet, continuing on from our first award for the original Final Fantasy VII, released on the PlayStation some 23 years ago. It feels like the stars aligned somewhat to be receiving this award at the same time of the rebrand to the PlayStation Partner Awards! Final Fantasy VII Remake has just started, and it’s yet to expand even further. The development team is hard at work on that expansion process, and this win is great fuel to propel us to keep going further. Look out for further developments in the future! With the quality and the volume, Final Fantasy VII remake exceeds fans’ expectations — What was your thought process going into making this remake? Kitase: I, along with executive producer Shinji Hashimoto and director Tetsuya Nomura, who all were part of the original Final Fantasy team, always had it in the back of our minds that we wanted to make a remake some day. We just never got the opportunity to do so. The first release was a blockbuster so we knew we had to be careful with it, but we wanted to bring even more realism to characters like Cloud and Aeris on the latest PlayStations of today. — This first remake was quite the hefty volume. What do you see from here on out? Kitase: I’m afraid I can’t give you any details just yet. But I think gamers must have gotten a good taste for the quality and depth of the production value of this latest release, even though they might have been worried about it being only up to the escape from Midgar. We pulled out all the stops to create the ideal world in Final Fantasy VII and I think our users appreciate this effort. We’re going to make sure that the worlds we develop from here on out meet the expectations of our fans. What is the “Sony Square” used when filming the PlayStation Partner Awards 2020 Japan Asia? The PlayStation Partner Awards 2020 Japan Asia were recorded in Sony Square, a private showroom located in the Sony headquarters. The Sony Group is involved in a wide variety of businesses in the entertainment industry, including electronics, movies, music and games, and extends over even to financial services in Japan. We’re looking to harness the synergies from this wide variety of businesses to create new value for our customers. We hope that guests can grab a feel for the creativity and technologies that we have to offer. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/Kxt4GDqbmT0View the full article
