When we released Dragon Quest Heroes last year, we always said that we wanted to bring more Dragon Quest games to the West. You could say that Dragon Quest Heroes laid the groundwork for Dragon Quest games on PS4 and we’re now ready to start building on those foundations! Today actually marks the 30th anniversary of the Dragon Quest franchise and as part of the celebration, I am very happy to announce that Dragon Quest Builders is officially coming to North America this October (2016) on PS4 and PS Vita! The Dragon Quest games are famous for being turn based RPGs but Dragon Quest Builders is different. So what is Dragon Quest Builders? Let’s bust out those hammers and break it down! StoryThe story of Dragon Quest Builders actually follows a “what if†story following the original Dragon Quest. In this story the realm has been destroyed because the Hero (from DQ1) who was supposed to save the world by defeating the evil Dragonlord, actually got tempted into accepting a sham deal with him. This plunges the land into darkness and despair and the few survivors scattered around the world no longer understand the concept of creativity and live through scavenging what remains among ruins. This is where Dragon Quest Builders begins! The protagonist (that’s you), who can be either a boy or a girl, is awoken by a Guardian Spirit as the Legendary Builder who is the only person in the world with the knowledge to create objects through combination and imagination. It’s now up to you to rebuild the world and restore it to its former glory! GameplayDragon Quest Builders is a sandbox action RPG where your imagination is the limit! Everything plays out in real time and the world is made entirely of blocks (although it may not look that blocky) and you can use these blocks to build pretty much whatever you want. Building is easy and can be done in three steps: Plan what you’re going to build! Gather your resources! Begin construction and create your masterpiece! There is an overarching main storyline to follow in Dragon Quest Builders so if you want a narrative to get attached to and pull you through, that’s in there too. It wouldn’t be a Dragon Quest game without one after all! Oh and there’s plenty of quirky side quests and NPCs to give you that full RPG experience, just with the additional sandbox gameplay and monsters to battle as well. It’s kind of crazy to think that the Dragon Quest franchise is 30 years old today but despite that, you don’t have to have played any previous Dragon Quest game to understand and enjoy Dragon Quest Builders. Dragon Quest Builders is coming out later this year (October, 2016) on PlayStation 4 (boxed and digitally) and PS Vita (digital only). We’ll have more information to share with you before the game comes out but in the meantime, be sure to secure your hardhats, polish your hammers and get ready to build! Keep up to date with all Dragon Quest Builders news on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. View the full article

Hello there, dood! This is Judith from NIS America here to bring everyone some thrilling news! Yomawari: Night Alone will be arriving on PS Vita October 25, 2016! As an added bonus, the retail edition will be bundled with htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary, for the ultimate 2-in-1 spine-chilling experience. Moreover, we have a Limited Edition that comes complete with the original soundtrack and two art books packaged into a gorgeous collector’s box! Unlike some of our zanier titles, Yomawari: Night Alone allows you to revisit your childhood fears, especially the fear of the dark. For fans of survival horror, mystery and stealth action, this will be the perfect little gem (or would that be two gems?) to add to your collection! The story begins with a little girl who lives with her beloved dog and sister in a small town. A routine stroll at dusk leaves her devastated as she runs home, with only an empty leash in hand. As if losing her dog wasn’t already traumatizing enough, the little girl’s sister goes missing the same night. With only a flashlight and a backpack to store the different items and clues she finds around town about the mysterious disappearances, a dark and dangerous tale begins. Yomawari: Night Alone features a unique blend of survival horror with stealth action gameplay. Along the way, you will find all sorts of objects from keys to slippers to cat biscuits, some of them vital to solving the mystery of the town and its eerie inhabitants at night, while others useful to distract evil spirits when they attack. As the story unfolds, more answers will lead to more questions, and the open-world environment of Yomawari: Night Alone allows for maximum freedom to wander anywhere at almost any time. But remember that everything has eyes and ears… With every step around the corner or into a dark alleyway, you will not only need reflexes to outrun bloodthirsty monsters and spirits, but also wits as you outsmart the ones that strike faster than you can blink; letting down your guard for even one moment may spell instant death. Only the silence of the night, the unsettling chirping of crickets, and your own lonely footsteps will accompany you as danger lurks around every corner, waiting to strike without warning. As mentioned earlier, along with the launch of Yomawari: Night Alone, familiar faces Mion and her two firefly friends Lumen and Umbra from htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary return for a physical release! Using two fireflies, you must guide Mion out of the labyrinthine ruins and back home, but not without running into vicious monsters, crumbling corridors and dangerous traps! With two mysterious tales coming together to form one fantastically eerie set this October, this is a combo pack that you definitely can’t miss! For more information about Yomawari: Night Alone, check out the announcement trailer. If you would like a refresher on htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary, please check here! Until next time, dood! Hi there! I’m the Community Developer at Ivory Tower. The Crew has just reached 5 million players, and we are so grateful for such an amazing community that we wanted to share some of the game’s best hidden secrets. Being a witness of our players’ discoveries and creations, I know for a fact that they’ve discovered a lot of what our big world has to offer… but not everything! So here’s our little gift to you: five inside fun facts you (probably) didn’t know about. The Crew | PlayStation.com 1. In-game pedestrians are Ivory Tower team membersSome of us actually have an in-game doppelganger, including executive producer Ahmed Boukhelifa, game director Stephane “Fergus†Beley… and yes, I’m in there too. Originally, we thought that since we were building a living world, what better way to populate it than with people from the team? However, not everyone could be included: beards were a bit problematic to recreate, so only women and clean-shaven men were part of the casting. The process itself took a few days, taking several pictures of the selected team members before integrating them to the game. Fun fact: the bodies don’t always match the faces, so some doppelgangers are actually taller or shorter that their original self. You have to admit, though: we can all dodge traffic like athletes! 2. You can drop by the schoolhouse from Hitchcock’s The Birds and check out the wedding chapel from Tarantino’s Kill Bill Vol. 2 The Crew is deeply rooted in the American movie culture, the USA being the setting of many famous road-trip movies and legendary car chases. But we thought we’d give the world a few more Hollywood references for our players to discover. One of them is from Hitchcock’s The Birds, reminding us of one of the movie’s most nerve-wracking scenes, when the birds attack the students running away “as fast as they can†from their school. Well, if you drive just North of San Francisco, in Bodega Bay, you’ll be greeted by a flock of crows in front of the emblematic schoolhouse. You’ll see another wink to a great movie on the road just east from Monument Valley. On the west side of the road is a replica of the wedding chapel where Beatrix Kiddo aka “The Bride†dodges just enough bullets to start her epic journey to vengeance. 3. Bigfoot, UFOs and unicorns are realThese 3 Easter eggs are pretty famous amongst our most dedicated explorers, but I just can’t leave you without mentioning them! Bigfoot is chilling next to the Northern Cascades forests on the west coast, a UFO has landed in the Western Shrub steppes near the dead airplane yard in the Mountain States, and a unicorn is running free in the Coal State forests on the East coast. Don’t bother looking for Santa, though — this one (spoiler alert) REALLY doesn’t exist… 4. Snowmen have feelings, you knowWinter is always coming somewhere on our map, and if you climb up the Rockies you’ll spot a bunch of smilng snowmen here and there. Well, if you’re heartless enough to knock one down, you’ll see its happy face turn into a sad one. It’s all fun and games but don’t forget: all actions have consequences, folks. Please don’t go ruining your karma over that one. 5. Say hello to Moby Dick!Cruising around in supercars, racing bikes or monster trucks doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy nature’s beauty every once in a while. Here’s a tip for all wildlife lovers: take the coastal road just east to Cape Cod and head down south. You’ll see a small pier on the ocean, with a few sailboats completing this very soothing landscape. Just wait a few seconds, and you should see a whale jumping out the water and landing with a big splash. Magnificent, isn’t it? Of course, there are many more secrets to reveal in The Crew, but I wouldn’t want to spoil all the fun! So go out there, make this world yours, and don’t forget to immortalize your findings with our Photo Mode and share it with the community! You know what they say: pics or it didn’t happen. By the way, to celebrate our five million players, we’ll be granting everyone who logs into the game on May 28th 50,000 Crew Credits! See you on the road. View the full article

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is the first military shooter set in a massive and responsive open world. In our new “We are Ghosts†trailer, we get a peek into Ubisoft’s largest action-adventure open world. From the infamous Death Road to the iconic salt flat, you will journey through the gritty, expansive, and vibrant backdrop of Bolivia as you fight to take down the Santa Blanca cartel. Ghost Recon Wildlands | PlayStation.com Authenticity is an important component of Ghost Recon Wildlands that not only extends to the Ghosts and their gear, but also to the world. Because of where it’s situated in South America, Bolivia offers a combination of extreme climates and topography that you simply won’t find in a lot of other places, which is part of what makes it an ideal setting for our game, but also a challenging one to build. For the team to truly understand Bolivia’s ecological diversity and faithfully recreate it for Wildlands, it was important for us to experience it in person, so we took a trip. Our goal was to ensure the world we built captured the essence of Bolivia and we returned to the studio with a better understanding of Bolivia’s environmental extremes and how people endure them. At 2.5 miles high on the Altiplano, the sun can burn the front of your body while the cold freezes your back. Meanwhile, down in the jungle, you have to contest with the crushing humidity and a constant barrage of mosquitos. Bolivian winters can be just as intense. Freezing temperatures and fog are your primary concerns. It’s an unquestionably harsh place, but also a very beautiful one. Our team took hundreds of photos and recorded as much video as possible to capture a variety of landscapes, such as Laguna Colorada, a “cementerio de trenes†(train graveyard), and the famous Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flat – just to name a few. The new “We Are Ghosts†trailer will give you a small taste of how we’ve recreated some of these specific places in Ghost Recon Wildlands, but we put a lot of effort into making sure that every in-game location provided different opportunities for gamers to use the environment in their strategies. These diverse environments in our living, reactive open-world environment mean each individual choice you make has far reaching consequences. Ghost Recon Wildlands is available for preorder now — stay tuned for more info at E3! View the full article

Hey PlayStation Nation, We’d like to introduce you to the latest Hero for our MOBA, Paragon. This Support Tank is a cyborg with serious reach — we call him Riktor. Get your first look at him in action below. You’ll be able to play Riktor as part of our update on Tuesday, May 31. Riktor and his Master Challenge are part of the Paragon Essentials Edition available on June 7. The TL;DR on Riktor is that he is a melee tank who specializes in crowd control. He’s a powerful initiator who brings order to the battlefield by locking down targets and pacifying enemies. His Riplash ability reaches out with his electric chain and pulls in enemy Heroes and/or minions while dealing damage. His Shock Therapy disrupts enemies by silencing them, and his Skewer Ultimate uses a web of chains to damage and stun everyone in his path. As always, all Heroes in Paragon are free, so if you’re in Early Access you’ll be able to jump in as Riktor on Tuesday. If you’re not in Early Access yet, you can pick up a Founder’s Pack to get into the action. See you on the battlefield! GLHF! View the full article

Hi PlayStation community! Sloclap is an indie studio you’ve probably never heard of, since it was created just over a year ago in Paris and has been working under the radar until today: we’re announcing our first game, Absolver, with this first reveal trailer – we truly hope you enjoy it! We’re a team of experienced programmers, designers & artists; most of us became friends while we were working at Ubisoft in Paris, and we teamed up because we wanted to make a kick-ass online action game, with visceral martial arts-style combat in a fantasy world, in which players meet each other seamlessly during their travels. A new story unfolds at each encounter: what are the other’s intentions? Will we fight to the death or become allies, trading weapons and teaching each other new attacks? View full gallery You wake up in the ruins of a fallen empire, remembering vaguely a ceremony of vows: you have chosen to join the Absolvers, an elite corps of combatants, fighting to maintain stability in the world; but the road from Prospect to Absolver is a long and hard one. You’ll need the help of others like you to stand a chance in the trials you’ll have to face: from ritual combat arenas in which you are ranked in duels and team-based challenges, to the Essence mines of Adal, where only death awaits those who venture alone, your focus and skills will be put to the test! Our gameplay system is based on choosing one of four stances, defined by your orientation towards your enemy, and it allows intense real-time melee combat with endless fluid combos. On your travels, you’ll learn different martial art schools, each with specific tactical moves and unique attacks. Choose your combat style, pick your weapon, and edit your attack set in the Combat Deck to create your unique fighting style. During combat, Tension shards refill progressively, allowing you to unleash powers to get a tactical edge in the fight. Absolver is super intense, we’re having great fun doing internal tournaments with the team and with playtesters, and we’re really excited to be running our first live tests soon! We’ve done big-budget multiplayer games before, and we know that being online impacts everything from design to code architecture, so we’ve been working in an online environment since day one, to ensure that the gameplay is rock solid in real network conditions! We hope you like our first trailer. We’ll be releasing more videos soon, so stay tuned during E3 for a look at hands-on previews and gameplay! View the full article

Hi everyone! Team Minecraft at Mojang, 4J Studios and Microsoft have been working on some cool free content for Minecraft: Console Edition — and we’re really excited to introduce minigames to you today. Of course, coming up with improvised rules and new ways to play with friends are already popular activities among Minecraft: Console Edition players (and long may it continue)! But our new minigames help you quickly and easily jump into competitions with tailor-made rulesets. You can have fun straightaway without having to fuss around with manual countdowns, laborious loot chest prep or keeping score. Sound good? Great – you won’t have to wait very long for this to come out, so get your enchanted fishing poles ready. The first minigame, Battle, hits PlayStation Store next month. Minecraft PlayStation 4 Edition | PlayStation.com Battle allows you to set up a competitive multiplayer fight for survival, where speed, strategy (and sometimes pure luck) lead you to victory. Players in Battle matches use randomly generated resources from chests located in specially-designed PVP maps to combat one another in a free-for-all deathmatch until the final victor is determined. But the fun doesn’t end after defeat; fallen players can spectate the combat among remaining players in the match by flying freely around each arena as a bat. Battle matches can be played with up to four players in split-screen and up to 8 players online (4 players on PS Vita). Play with friends or find other community members to join your game via an in-game matchmaking system. Free for all owners of Minecraft on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita, Battle rolls out in June via game update, along with three maps for you to try out. If you like Battle and want more, we’ll be supporting it with additional Map Pack add-ons periodically after release for $2.99 USD or local equivalent. See you in the arena! View the full article

Guns, gore, and dubstep. That’s a beautiful recipe to me. That’s the recipe I worked from when making Super Mutant Alien Assault (SMAA), which I’m proud to announce is launching on PS4 this summer. SMAA is a fast, brutal arcade platformer. You have to fight off an alien assault across 12 rapid-fire, single-screen levels. Each level offers a random combination of platform layout, objective, vending machines, and enemies. Core to the challenge are randomness and permadeath. You never know what weapons and abilities you will have or what enemies and bosses you will face. The only way to beat the game is through sharpening your skills and amassing knowledge through using the vast array of weapons, explosives, and abilities at your disposal. SMAA is a game that evolves. Weapons, abilities, modes, enemies and bosses will unlock as you play. Every time you jump back into the fray, there will be something new to mix up the gameplay. GunsEver since playing Unreal Tournament I’ve realized how much fun it is to have a diverse range of weapons that feel good to use. With each offering specific strengths and weaknesses, every gun needs to be thoughtfully used. Sometimes you don’t have the right gun for the right situation. But that just forces you to play harder, think smarter, adapt quicker. When you win the battle in those situations, well, that’s when you feel like a true hero. These lessons stick with me and are a core part of what shaped my design for the weapons in SMAA. GoreIn a game, everything needs to feel good — especially combat. Gore is paramount to this. But gore has a hidden cost you just wouldn’t know about unless you’re a developer. It leads to a more restrictive classification rating, limiting your potential market size. It costs in CPU cycles, reducing what else you can add to the action on screen. It’s not easy spawning hundreds of particles of blood, body pieces, and dead bodies that have real physics and interact with the level — gore that doesn’t just disappear, but stays where it fell so you can look around the bloody battlefield when the fight’s over to see the story of your struggle. None of that comes easily. And I just want you to know, I fought for that. Because it’s important. DubstepThat perfect drop at the perfect time. Nothing beats dancing with death and blasting aliens in the face to some finely crafted dubstep. And this isn’t just any dubstep. For a full year of development, I was scouring the web for the finest dubstep I could find. What I found changed my music libary forever. If you like dubstep, you’re in for a real treat. If you don’t like dubstep, that’s okay too. I think you will agree it’s the perfect sound for the intense brutal action of SMAA. You may even get converted. Who is behind this game? The official dev team is me. I’m the sole programmer and game designer. Keep that in mind regarding any expectations you might have for game size. Having said that, I’m not so crazy I’d try to do everything myself. I contract out the art and license the music. I also had help from many other people in the form of testing and feedback. Of course the whole team at Surprise Attack Games, my publisher, has given me huge amounts of help in many ways. This has been a fantastic journey for me. A bit over two years ago I decided to take on the risk and challenge of chasing my biggest dream, to make games full time. I’m incredibly proud of Super Mutant Alien Assault and super excited to share it all with you in few months’ time. View the full article

Greetings, PlayStation fans! I am Matthew Doucette of Xona Games, an indie game studio known for its intense retro games. We are proud to announce Score Rush Extended — the award-winning 4-player shmup — is launching on PS4 on May 31, 2016! I co-founded Xona Games with my twin brother, Jason Doucette. We have coded games since we were seven years old; Xona Games emerged from our childhood passion. We had a vision of what 2D games could become: More sprites, more particles, and more intensity. Score Rush Extended was born from that idea. Score Rush Extended is a widescreen bullet-hell dual-stick shmup — a 4-player overhead-scrolling 2D shooter filled with power-ups, enemies, and bosses. The PS4 version boasts updated gameplay and brand new artwork and features Dual Play (control 2 fighters as once) and Boss Rush modes. The original Score Rush was an experimental game. Despite critical and commercial success, the game never felt complete. To that end, Score Rush Extended offers online scoreboards, unlockable Trophies, and even DualShock audio that helps distinguish events happening to you as opposed to your friends during a 4-player game. Our inspiration derives from games such as Raiden, Thunder Force, Gradius, and even Contra. I also love dual-stick shmups — I won the Geometry Wars 2 PAX East 2013 contest; however, the gameplay was not inspired by arena shooters, but rather by scrolling shooters. The dual-stick setup allows for maximum control and adds variety to the genre, a win-win situation. Our goal was to make the most philosophically pure shoot ’em up — to truly test how skilled you are in a way no other shmup has. A key piece was redefining the scoring mechanic: removing all bonus points and measuring only domination itself. No gimmicks. No hidden points. No puzzles. To get the highest score, destroy everything as fast as possible. An example, does saving bombs or lives – something that normally awards bonus points — help destroy enemies? No. So, no points are awarded. Purity! Our philosophy is to empower the player. We built the most finely-tuned game we could. Its speed is optimized for maximum precision. We give you the best controls possible to let you dominate the screen. We also adopted a small 4×4 pixel hitbox and a slowdown button – mechanics born from Japanese bullet hells. A few more features worth mentioning: 32 firing options – up to 256 with 8 fighters; lost upon death 3 difficulty modes – Normal, Expert, and Godlike Color-coded power-ups seek the weakest player Hard-rocking Dragon Music soundtrack Score Rush Extended feels like our first true release and it will define the future of Xona Games. I appreciate and thank everyone for reading about our work and efforts. View the full article

Hello everyone! We finally have a PS4 release date for Neon Chrome: May 31, 2016. Neon Chrome is a cyberpunk top-down shooter with several roguelite twists. Your task is to stop the Overseer opressing the people living in the gigantic arcology. The question is: What should you do to stop him? 1) Use weapons and abilities to destroy whole floors.Everything in Neon Chrome can be blown to bits with guns and abilities such as grenades. Want to surprise an unsuspecting enemy by smashing your way through walls and furniture? Go ahead and try it! 2) Unlock abilities, enhancements, and weapons by exploring an endless number of levels.Levels are procedurally generated, so after each death you’ll get a fresh set of levels. To spice things up, Neon Chrome also has a number of special levels with hidden secrets and challenges. 3) Install cybernetic enhancements that give you massive powers.Examples include walking through walls and splitting your bullets mid-air for a damage boost. A powerful combination will be your key to victory. 4) Choose your preferred character before each run.In Neon Chrome you’ll be given a set of characters to choose from when you start a new â€runâ€. The characters are a combination of role, ability and a weapon. Don’t get too attached though – dying is part of the process. 5) Improve your stats with the credits you loot. After each death you get to improve your stats like damage and health. You can also purchase a specific weapon or an ability for your next character. Death will become your friend and an opportunity to improve. 6) Defeat the bosses.Neon Chrome has epic boss fights between each chapter. By defeating these bosses you’ll open shortcuts which take you further towards the Overseer. 7) Bring a friend.Neon Chrome supports local co-op for 2-4 players so you can also play with your friends. Be careful with explosives though! Feedback so far has been extremely positive and we’re very happy to finally release the game on PS4. We hope to see you in Neon Chrome when the game launches on May 31. Remember: Every death is a new beginning. View the full article

Hey folks! Ricky Haggett here. I was the founder of a videogame studio called Honeyslug, who made the PlayStation games Hohokum, Frobisher Says, and Super Exploding Zoo. Now I’m back with a new studio called Hollow Ponds, and excited to tell you about what we’ve been working on Âa new game called Loot Rascals. Loot Rascals is a tale of friendship, loss, and redemption in outer space. It’s a roguelike set on a hostile alien world, where you’ll play as the survivor of a rocket crash, trying to escape back to space. The game has two main components: First off you’re exploring the planet, revealing its hexagonal surface, and fighting a menagerie of strange aliens, monsters and robots. Defeating them will win you Loot  a set of schematic cards from which you get all of your abilities. Choosing which of these cards to keep and use to fend off hostiles requires strategic thinking  the second major aspect. As you build your character’s loadout and maximize abilities, you’ll need to decide which advantages you can do without, and convert those cards into the precious resources needed to heal up. But I mentioned friendship, loss, and redemption before. What’s that all about? Well, in this game, the enemies can loot you! And when that happens, the cards they steal are beamed up to the cloud and drop into someone else’s game. Whenever you defeat an Elite Baddie in Loot Rascals, you’ll get a card belonging to another player looted from them earlier by that baddie. The enemies only steal higher level cards, so it’ll be something you reeeeally want to keep. But you have a free choice  will you send it back to them, or keep it for yourself? Think carefully about the decision though, because there are consequences. You see, every player in Loot Rascals has a Holographic Agent: a computer controlled copy of themselves who can visit other people’s games. If you decide to hang on to another player’s card, you may find yourself faced with their angry Hologram, trying to kill and loot YOU. Or, if you did right by them, and sent back their card, perhaps their Hologram will turn up to help you for a while… If you’re a fan of some of the other games I’ve worked on, you should be able to detect a similar sensibility, in terms of both humor and art. This time, we’re working with Swatpaz (Adventure Time, Cartoon Hangover) and Meowza (The Road Less Travelled, Alphabear) on the visuals, along with an amazing soundtrack by Grandmaster Gareth from Misty’s Big Adventure (one of my favorite bands!) We’re aiming for release in early 2017, but planning on getting the game in people’s hands before that at a number of shows – first up at E3 in June. Meanwhile, check out our trailer and visit the website at www.lootrascals.com, where you can find more info and sign up to receive more news about the game. View the full article

On May 31, Io-Interactive invites Hitman players to delve deep into Marrakesh with the release of the third episode of the game. The City of ContrastsFollowing up on the big fashion show event in Paris and the expansive nature of Sapienza, we knew that Marrakesh had to be something extraordinary. So the team set out to build a location that was both teeming with life and with things to do. Marrakesh has been built with a maze of alleys, a range of souks that line the medina walls, and a fully fletched shisha café. Moving upwards, players can enjoy the shade on the signature rooftop terraces of Marrakesh. Just beyond the busy marketplace, you will find an architectural marvel in the shape of the Swedish Consulate building. The very embodiment of minimalistic Scandinavian design, a mix of glass, concrete and wood offering a powerful contrast to the blazing heat just outside its walls. The missionAs with any Hitman level, Marrakesh promises players the lure of voyeurism and the thrill of infiltration and it’s something we’ve been working hard on getting just right. Offering two targets, the “Gilded Cage†mission challenges players to eliminate private banker Claus Strandberg, holed up inside the secure Swedish Consulate, and army General Reza Zaydan, protected by his elite squad of soldiers at a temporary headquarters in the heart of the city. Both targets will be challenging to reach and both will of course have some entertaining special moments attached to them that will allow players to dole out some poetic justice. Tons of new live contentWith Marrakesh also comes a lot more live content for players to engage with and the busy markets and locked-down consulate will provide us with great settings for our live features. Episode 3 will has been designed to keep players busy with a wide range of challenges and opportunities and along with an entirely new setting for Contracts mode, Elusive Targets and Escalation Contracts, we are dying to see what you come up with. Hi, PlayStation gamers! This is Scott Mercer, the principal designer for Overwatch at Blizzard Entertainment. We’re very excited for you to jump and play the game today. If you’re not familiar with Overwatch, it’s a team-based shooter that pits two teams of six larger-than-life heroes against each other on objective-based maps that span the globe. To help you become a better hero, here is one special tip for each of our 21 unique characters. We can’t wait for you to get on the battlefield. BastionDon’t stay deployed in Sentry Configuration in one location for too long, or your enemy will adapt and gain the upper hand.D.VaIf you use Self-Destruct after activating Boosters, D.Va ejects—but her mech continues moving forward before detonating.GenjiGenji’s Deflect ability isn’t just for defense. Aim at enemies when using it to hit them with their own attacks.HanzoScatter Arrow can be devastating when aimed at the ground in front of your target.JunkratDetonate a Concussion Mine at your feet to launch yourself into the air and reach higher areas. Don’t worry—you won’t take any damage from your own Mine. LúcioSoundwave, the alternate fire mode of Lúcio’s Sonic Amplifier, is useful for keeping enemies away, but it can also be used to push enemies off of cliffs.McCreeAfter stunning an enemy with your Flashbang, it’s much easier to hit them with the Peacekeeper’s alternate fire.MeiPlacing an Ice Wall under you or your teammates will raise them up on top of the wall, giving them access to higher areas.MercyGuardian Angel can save you, too—use it on a distant teammate to take yourself out of immediate danger from enemies.PharahConcussive Blast can push enemies away and even knock them off cliffs, but you can also use it to push yourself away.ReaperWhile you pass through enemies when you’re in Wraith Form, you can still gather Health Packs and Soul Globes while using it. ReinhardtYou can adjust the direction of your Charge as you rocket forward, making it so you can reach a target even if there’s not a straight path.RoadhogChain Hook can interrupt many enemy abilities — including some ultimates. Soldier: 76Use Tactical Visor when your enemies are unaware of your location. They’ll have less time to seek cover or use defensive abilities.SymmetraThe projectile from the Photon Projector’s alternate fire pierces through enemies as well as barriers such as Reinhardt’s Barrier Field, allowing it to hit multiple targets.TorbjörnTurrets must rotate to face their target before firing, so always try to build your turrets in the direction you’re expecting enemies to come from.TracerIf you Recall immediately after taking damage, you will regain your lost health.WidowmakerVenom Mines placed along the likely path of an attacker can warn you of an approaching threat. WinstonWinston leaps in the direction of his targeting reticle when activating his Jump Pack. By looking up, he can jump nearly straight up and land where he took off.ZaryaGraviton Surge can pull enemies away from a map objective, giving your team a chance to take the objective uncontested.ZenyattaTranscendence is a great counter to many enemy area-of-effect abilities, such as Zarya’s Graviton Surge. PSBlog Feed: There Came an Echo Hits PS4 on May 31
Commander Fury posted a topic in Playstation Blog
There Came an Echo, the cyberpunk voice-controlled real-time strategy game starring Wil Wheaton, is heading to PS4 as a console exclusive. And we’re not much for making you wait — it’s coming on May 31. Is it your birthday next week? Happy Birthday. Is it not? Well, sorry we missed your last birthday; here’s a sweet game to make up for it. There Came an Echo lets you use the PS4 microphone to give militaristic commands to up to four units in a small tactical squad. While voice controls aren’t strictly necessary, they’re definitely the way to play. You won’t be handling the minutiae one normally might in a shooter: firing, aiming, reloading, holding a sprint button… the advanced A.I. takes care of all that. You’re the field commander, looking at the larger picture of the battlefield to position your units effectively and set them up for victory. You’ll use commands like “Corrin and Miranda, move to Bravo Three on my mark,†or “Everyone but Grace, shields up.†But hey, maybe your mom’s name is Grace, and it’s creeping you out or something. To that end, we’ve implemented what we call the “Command Alias†feature, whereby almost every name and command in the game can be replaced by an entirely custom word or phrase. “Power to forward deflectors†can replace “shields up.†The lyrics to “Be Prepared†can replace “Switch to sniper rifle,†for reasons that I’m sure totally make sense. All this wasn’t easy; we actually worked directly with Sony’s engineers to modify internal libraries, all in order to make There Came an Echo’s exceptionally complex voice recognition work. Huge props to Sony for going the extra mile. What about story? There Came an Echo places a huge emphasis on narrative. Corrin Webb, an ordinary (?) cryptographer, is thrown into a deadly game of secret agendas when a group of mercenaries tracks him down. Guided by the mysterious Val, Corrin must escape from a foe with seemingly limitless resources and discover what secrets his own unbreakable algorithm, Radial Lock, is safeguarding. But wait, you saw Wil Wheaton up there. How the heck did we get Wil Wheaton on an indie game? Or, for that matter, Ashly Burch (Life is Strange, Adventure Time), Laura Bailey (Uncharted 4, Persona 4: Golden), or Yuri Lowenthal (Ben 10, Prince of Persia)? Well, we’re based in Los Angeles, but we sort of cheated. Or rather, I sort of cheated. I guess I never introduced myself; I’m Jason Wishnov, lead designer and programmer on the game. But, resulting from a series of strange life choices, I’m also a voice actor. I’m Nocturne in League of Legends, Byakuya Togami in the Danganronpa series, and more. So I knew some folks. Wil was the first one we called, due to his love of science fiction and general beard usage. We sent over an early draft of the script and he was down, so we worked out a deal with his agent. We ran casting sessions, we rented studio time. We even went the extra mile to ensure up to seven actors could be in the booth at the same time; this is a departure from how voice acting is normally done in games, which is one actor at a time. This was all fairly difficult, but luckily, I’d been through the process often, from the other side. Like I said. Cheated. Anyway, we hope you check There Came an Echo out next week; there’s no other game that delivers this kind of experience. If you want something you’ve never seen before, we promise we’ll deliver. Also, you are all very attractive and cool. I felt that was important to mention. Questions, comments, concerns? Let us know down below! View the full article -
It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly two weeks since we officially released Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End on PS4. It’s one of the most beautifully crafted games I’ve ever played, and the great reception we’ve seen from the community has been amazing and humbling. Naughty Dog’s exceptionally talented team has created magic once again, carefully constructing an adrenaline-pumping, thrilling, and beautifully written culmination to Nathan Drake’s adventures. They truly outdid themselves. Millions of fans around the world have already joined Nathan Drake on his final treasure hunt. In the first week alone, I’m happy to report that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End exceeded 2.7 million units in global sales*. For the North American region, Uncharted 4 is the fastest-selling PS4 first party title to-date. A huge congratulations goes out to Naughty Dog for an incredible feat. The success of the game is a testament to the caliber of the team at Naughty Dog and their unwavering commitment to their fans. Most of all, we wanted to give a special thank you to all of you who joined us so far on this incredible adventure, and have embarked with us on Nathan Drake’s final, wild ride. * Includes worldwide sell-through data for both Blu-ray Disc sell-thru quantities and digital sales as of May 16, 2016. A few years ago, my brother and I talked about making a game that would combine elements of some of our favorite games into something new. We’re huge fans of the Fallout series, and Minecraft, among others, and so we started working on what would become 7 Days to Die. 7 Days to Die has sold over 1.5 million copies on PC, which is mind-blowing to us. We’re so grateful to have had amazing support from the community from the very beginning, and now, we’re beyond excited to bring our game to a new audience on PlayStation 4. So, what is 7 Days to Die? 7 Days to Die combines first-person shooting, survival horror, tower defense and role-playing elements in a mix of combat, crafting, looting, mining, exploration and character growth to create what we hope you’ll think is a unique, addictive experience. It’s an open-world sandbox game to play alone, via splitscreen, or online, that gives you an enormous amount of freedom to choose how to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. You’re dropped into a harsh environment with almost nothing – not even clothes on your back. Through scavenging, crafting, and hunting, you’ll eventually put together the basic items you’ll need to live. You’ll have to deal with cold, heat, hunger and thirst, and there are wild animals that see you as prey. But that’s not the worst, because you’re not alone — the undead wander all around you. Slow and relatively easy to avoid by day, at night they become merciless, fast-moving killers, hungry for your flesh. Once you have the basic tools of survival, you’ll need to find or make shelter. Start out with a humble wooden cabin, and over time, as your skills and scavenged loot improve, you’ll be able to build a fortress. Craft weapons, forge tools, sow crops, dig-in and survive. But even the most prepared survivalist can find that their well-laid plans can come crashing down around them…literally! Everything in 7 Days to Die is fully destructible and moldable, and just as you can shape the world to your needs, the undead can tear it apart. You might have reinforced the doors and windows, you might have crafted mines and traps, but what about the floor under your very feet? Did you strengthen the foundations? What if the undead dig right in from underneath you? We’re incredibly excited to be working with Telltale Publishing and Iron Galaxy to bring 7 Days to Die to PlayStation 4, with exciting new features and exclusive pre-order skins from The Walking Dead – A Telltale Games Series, including Lee Everett and Michonne! 7 Days to Die will be available to download from the PlayStation Store, or can be bought on-disc from your favorite retailer on June 28th!
