1. In November 2010, Disney Interactive released Disney Epic Mickey, a game my studio created featuring Mickey Mouse in his first videogame appearance after many years away from the interactive screen. The opportunity to work with a character as well-known as Mickey would have been incentive enough for us, but Disney offered us something else - the chance to bring Walt Disney's first cartoon star, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, back to the world after 80-some years. The Junction Point team jumped at this chance to play a part in Disney's history, creating a world and a story that honored the past while resolutely looking toward the future. We started by creating a world called Wasteland, repository for all of Disney's forgotten creative efforts -- characters cut from films, rides retired from theme parks, toys and licensed ephemera from years gone by -- and then dropped Oswald there, as the first forgotten character. 2. This holiday season just got better. Resistance Collection is hitting stores starting December 5th, and it makes a great gift for any shooter fan who hasn’t had a chance to experience one of the best FPS trilogies on PS3. Resistance started as I-8, a return to Insomniac’s roots making first-person shooters (Disruptor was our first-ever game on PSOne). It evolved from a space opera featuring lizard-like aliens into an alternate history World War I shooter, before eventually evolving into the 1950s-era game that launched alongside PS3. Over the three titles, we had an incredible experience developing the Resistance franchise for PlayStation fans. More...
3. Hello again, readers! Today marks the official launch of Persona 4 Golden for PS Vita. The team at ATLUS has been very hard at work preparing this title, chock-full of new content and maximized for the beautiful PS Vita hardware, and we’re super-excited to be able to bring this game to all of you. While we don’t want to spoil anything, it’s really difficult to keep this level of enthusiasm up without sharing any of it with people who would like to listen. There’s been quite a bit of attention paid to the characters of Persona 4 Golden, and with that in mind we’ve asked some of the staff here at ATLUS about some of their favorite NPCs. We might even share some strategies and insights into the game! More...
4. For well over two years now, I’ve had the honor of working with Zen Studios on video pinball tables based on Marvel characters and events. It seems only appropriate that Marvel Pinball: Civil War should release the week of Thanksgiving (as part of PSN’s Zen Pinball 2) – ‘cause I’m plenty thankful for these guys and everything they’ve done with Marvel Pinball so far. Civil War is one of the biggest events ever told in comics, and as you’d suspect, Zen takes representing it in pinball form very seriously. Here are a just a few reasons why you, the fan, will be thankful that’s the case… More...

7. Remember that Indiana Jones type of 3rd person adventure game Uncharted? Well in a bizarre chain of events, Nathan Drake is sent out on a mission to collect cards and do battle with them! From the Playstation blog’s Chris Reese, he describes Uncharted: Fight for Fortune as a turn based card game exclusive for the Vita! “So you’re probably wondering, how exactly does Fight For Fortune work? I’ll explain. The core gameplay in UNCHARTED: Fight for Fortune involves creating a team of Faction cards featuring heroes, villains, and mercenaries from the UNCHARTED universe, then using that team to defeat your opponent while defending yourself from their attacks. Each Faction card can be equipped with powerful Resource and valuable Fortune cards, which enhance their stats and give them special abilities. Once you’ve selected and equipped a card, it’s time to head into battle! During combat, attacks either reduce the health of opposing Faction cards or the health of your opponent. Defeating an opposing Faction card removes it from play, while reducing the health of your opponent to zero wins you the game.” Whether you enjoyed Golden Abyss or not, Bend Studios returns to the portable Uncharted series with turn based action! December 4th is when we’ll see how the $4.99 PS Vita game of Uncharted: Fight for Fortune will fare against other spin off card games based on our favorite Playstation treasure hunter. 8. Throughout its almost 20-year history, PlayStation has allowed us as players to explore new worlds, triumph over adversaries, and realize our dreams of rapping superstardom. Three years ago, SuperBot Entertainment, BluePoint Games, and Sony Santa Monica Studio set out to create a game that pays tribute to the amazing memories we as PlayStation fans have all experienced together. Today is the day that we’re able to share that game with you. PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale has arrived! PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is a celebration of the PlayStation history: its characters, its universes, and most importantly, its fans. And what better way to celebrate that with some good old-fashioned butt-kicking! In PlayStation All-Stars, up to four players can simultaneously control any of the 20 great PlayStation characters featured on our roster, including Kratos from God of War, Nathan Drake from UNCHARTED, Sackboy from LittleBigPlanet, Big Daddy from BioShock, and Dante from DmC Devil May Cry, and fight it out brawler-style on one of our 14 levels, each one created by mashing up two PlayStation worlds -- like the topsy-turvy world of LocoRoco mixed with the war-torn battlefields of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. 9. I think RPG gamers need no introduction to the concept of customization. In Elminage Original, the customization options are… abundant, to say the least. There are 12 character races and 16 classes to choose from, so players will be able to tailor their party to suit their specific play styles. Elminage Original is a dungeon-crawling RPG, and it doesn’t try to hide it. It doesn’t waste time hand-holding, and it lets you jump into the action very quickly if you so choose. Parties are formed in groups of six, so whether you think you’ll do better with Humans, Fairies, Werebeasts, or Magic Dolls, you can rest assured that there are plenty of combinations to try! Customization is a big reason why I love RPG’s. When I start to play a new RPG, I tend to get caught up when I'm allowed an unlimited amount of time to grind and discover new tactics, and I spend way too many hours doing so. I’m sure that some of you reading this know exactly what I am talking about. In the case of Elminage Original, I even spent time customizing my entire party to make sure that they all had matching themed portraits. You can actually make your own party icons, and then upload them directly into the game! More...
10. Hi there! Alexey Menshikov of Beatshapers and I are happy that one of the biggest names in mobile gaming – Jetpack Joyride -- is coming to PSN in North America this week for $3.99. With over 35 million downloads around the world so far, millions more can now suit up as Barry Steakfries and join in the high-flying phenomenon. Down on his luck as a struggling gramophone salesman, Barry comes across the "secret" laboratory of Legitimate Research, a corporation dedicated to developing crazy new technologies. Seizing the chance to become a hero, Barry begins his ride after commandeering a jetpack and making good his escape. That’s where you’ll jump in and guide his adventure with accessible one-button gameplay. Along the way, you must avoid lasers, missiles and electro zappers, all the while grabbing coins and trying out even more ridiculous vehicles – Lil' Stomper, Profit Bird and the robot dragon himself, Mr. Cuddles! 11. Hello, Dominic Matthews here from Ninja Theory bringing you an update on DmC: Devil May Cry. First off, I want to tell you about some DmC add-on content that we just announced. Called Vergil’s Downfall, it features six brand new missions, in new environments where you play as Dante’s twin brother Vergil. Vergil has his own unique combat system (if you know Vergil from the previous games you’ll recognize some of his signature moves) and the story, which is intertwined with the events of the main game, takes place in Vergil’s very own personal hell. Lovely! You’ll also get to take on new enemies and upgrade Vergil’s combat as you play. Once you’ve completed all the new missions you’ll have four new difficulty modes to unlock including Son of Sparda and Vergil Must Die, both of which feature unique enemy waves and enemy behaviours that are different from those in the three default difficulty settings. 14. It's all been leading up to this! Tomorrow, Telltale Games releases what they've dubbed the "season finale" of The Walking Dead, which I suppose bodes well for the possibility of future installments. For me, Telltale's series represents the best of the adventure genre, with likeable characters, grim scenarios, and a player-guided narrative. I've made no secret that The Walking Dead has quickly become one of my favorite gaming experiences of the year, and I'm dying to see how Lee Everett's final chapter plays out in this companion piece to Robert Kirkman’s much-loved graphic novel series. 20. Greetings, friends. The name's Justin; I've been sneaking around behind the scenes here at PS.Blog for a few months, helping to get posts put together and looking extra-slick before they reach your eyeballs. See how game thumbnails are tucked neatly in with the text in recent PlayStation Store Updates, for example? That's me. You may have heard me on a PlayStation Blogcast or two, but otherwise I've kept a pretty low profile since I've started here. That changes today! I'm taking over the weekend Recap, where I'll recount the week's top PS.Blog posts. Taking this post over from Sid, I know I have a lot to live up to -- I'll try not to disappoint. Now, let's have a look at this week's top posts... More...
21. It’s almost time for turkey, folks! In the meantime you can enjoy the PSN Community Spotlight. For the unfamiliar, this is where PlayStation gamers tell their unique stories/experiences/thoughts, as submitted to this section in the PlayStation Community Forums. Those that make it all the way to the PlayStation Blog will receive a $50 PlayStation Store voucher. Last week we asked for your PlayStation stories, and gamer bgrutt wrote in to tell us about how he met his Call of Duty clan. PlayStation's Creation of the Six Guy Clan As a child, I was your average boy. In 2000, I received a PSone combo pack for my birthday and my favorite game then and now was James Bond. My brother and I found a special connection with each other through that game. More...
22. Firstly, I want to apologize for the lateness of this week's Blogcast - we'll be back to our regularly scheduled Thursday afternoon publish starting next week. But I'm hoping that today's show will be worth the wait for you. Not only does today's show mark the official one-year anniversary of PlayStation Blogcast (!), it also marks two major milestones for PlayStation 3! This Saturday marks the console's six-year birthday in the United States. And as you may have heard early this morning, PS3 has officially passed the 70 million milestone. On today's double-stuffed show, we celebrate those milestones in style. The always insightful Shuhei Yoshida, Sony Computer Entertainment's celebrated president of Worldwide Studios, reminisces on the challenges of launching PS3 in 2006 and how innovative game development drove the PS3 to global must-have status. Later, SCEA President and CEO Jack Tretton stops by to provide a bird's-eye view on PS3 and PS Vita - and even the launch of WiiU. Then PlayStation Store Director Grace Chen makes her debut appearance to discuss the evolution of PlayStation Store and PSN, even answering some long-requested questions for good measure. All are must-listens! More...

25. Killzone Intercept is a fan-made live action short set during the ISA evacuation of Helghan in Killzone 3. The 14-minute film follows a small ISA squad as they’re ordered to prevent a large contingent of Helghast troops from intercepting the retreating ISA convoy. Outnumbered, the squad takes on the task with hopes of getting everyone off the planet alive. Since its release on the Internet last week, Killzone Intercept has been a small sensation among Killzone fans and novices alike. At the time of writing, the fan film has amassed nearly 170,000 views – and it’s not showing signs of slowing down.
