Greetings, PlayStationeers! The holidays are just around the corner, and if you’re anything like us, you’ll have a bit of free time on your hands to relax on the couch and curl up with a nice video game. That’s why we’re flinging you all the details for the first DLC for Angry Birds Trilogy, landing on the PlayStation Network on December 18th. The Anger Management pack lets you pop the pigs across 130 additional levels from some of our favorite Angry Birds and Angry Birds Seasons episodes, including Birdday Party, Ham ‘O’ Ween, Wreck the Halls, Year of the Dragon, Cherry Blossom, and Piglantis. It also features full PlayStation Move support and, yes, adds new trophies to the game. A new playable character joins your flock in this collection, as well - the Orange Bird. Don’t judge this small bird by its feathers, because Orange Bird packs a walloping surprise. His special power lets him rapidly expand up to a massive size, shoving aside nearby enemies and obstacles! More...

I’m proud to announce the PlayStation Network release of Jordan Mechner’s classic martial arts sidescroller, Karateka! Thirty years later, the 8-bit karate classic returns with all-new graphics and a unique rhythm-based gameplay. As a college freshman in 1982, Jordan Mechner started work on the original Karateka with nothing more than an Apple II computer and a burning desire to become a published game author. Now, 30 years later, Mechner is back for more karate action, teaming up with Liquid Entertainment for a modern remake of Karateka with beautiful animation and innovative gameplay. More...

I've always wanted to develop a game that is heavily-story based, but I've always waited to do it until I had a story I really want to tell; something personal and different. Problem is, I can't just decide to come up with such a story whenever I want. It's an unusual and mysterious process and it kind of just... happens. Knytt Underground is the result of this process. Oh, and it's also a pretty sweet exploration platform game. Knytt Underground tells a quirky and strange tale that connects to various things in my own life. It's set in the future, hundreds of years after the humans disappeared from the planet. Sprites, fairies and various other lifeforms roam tunnels underground. They are curious about their origin and the meaning of life, and to find those answers they try to understand the ones who had obviously figured it out: the humans. More...

We've been having a blast playing against you online in the last few weeks, and we hope you've been enjoying the game as much as we've enjoyed making it and playing online ourselves. As you know, Full Frontal Assault is a cross-buy enabled title, so your purchase of the PS3 game entitles you to download the PS Vita version at no additional cost upon its release. Tin Giant and Sony have been hard at work to finish the Vita version, which will be available soon in early 2013. If you bought the PS3 game digitally, you'll be able to download it via your Download List on the XMB when it releases. For those purchasers of the retail disc, you can download the Vita version via the "Disc Benefits" option under Game on the XMB. More...

Just as I wrote about graffiti in Papo & Yo back in July, I wanted to share another story and video diary about how we captured the unique music and sound to transport players deeper into the South American favela of Quico’s imagination. And with the flood of requests we’ve gotten since launch, I’m excited to announce that the Papo & Yo soundtrack will be available for purchase starting tomorrow on PSN in North America! As a special release day promotion, it will be on sale for 15% off the regular price (30% off for Plus members) until January 4th. Over the past few months, some of you may have caught my tweets about our brilliant composer and sound designer, Brian D’Oliveira from La Hacienda Creative. Fun facts like “Brian D’Oliveira learned about 15 new instruments to play for Papo & Yo!†or “when Monster runs, the sound effect actually comes from hitting a fridge,†are just a glimpse of the music’s backstory in Papo & Yo. I’m so excited that it’s almost holiday break, mainly because I might actually be able to put a dent in my backlog of games! Anyway, it’s once again time for the PSN Community Spotlight. For the unfamiliar, this is where PlayStation gamers tell their unique stories/experiences/thoughts, as submitted to this section in the PlayStation Community Forums. Those that make it all the way to the PlayStation Blog will receive a $50 PlayStation Store voucher via private message on the forums. Last week we asked for your PlayStation stories, and gamer resven wrote in to tell us about how PlayStation games inspired him to learn English. As the media have started to analyze what lead up to this horrific event, the blame game on gaming has already began. National Media are already honing in on the gaming habits of the man behind the shooting. How do you feel about this? Do you think games are in the crossfires for the wrong reasons?

First of all our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s, families and the Newtown, CT community in the wake of events that happened yesterday morning. As the media have started to analyze what lead up to this horrific event, the blame game has already began. National Media are already honing in on the gaming habits of the man behind the shooting. While I am no expert, I can tell you as an avid gamer I am not going around planning on how to destroy a classroom of helpless children because I spend 20 to 30 hours a week playing games such as Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, and Monopoly. While I do agree that the rating system has flaws, just as it is in all entertainment, it is the parents that are responsible for following these ratings. And to be honest the parents really are not telling their kids no when it comes to a title rated M for mature such as Call of Duty. Even while at our local GameStop event here in West Texas, there were plenty of kids under 17 picking up their games with parents and guardians. Now Call of Duty sold over 500,000 copies in the first week of sales, but do we see a half million players causing a tragedy such as this? No, tragic events are not the fault of games being released, they are at the fault of the person that is holding the guns. Could there be some factors from a game that contribute to the state of mind of this person, sure it is possible. Events like this trigger a gut reaction such as Gun Control, Removing Games from Shelves, etc. It is exactly that a gut reaction. Are there changes that should be made in the aftermath of a tragedy like this? Of course, we always learn from these events and make improvements to prevent events such as these. At the end of the day as an owner and member of a Gaming Community that is heavily involved with games rated M for Mature, our community is built around a motto of “Win with Honor, Lose with Dignity†instilling sportsmanship and respect in gaming. I learned my gun skills in the Boy Scouts and US Navy, not playing a game. How do you feel about this? Do you think games are in the crossfires for the wrong reasons? View the full article

Zero Dark Thirty is a Sony film that chronicles one of the greatest and most secretive manhunts in history: the hunt for Osama Bin Laden. In our partnership with Zero Dark Thirty and Sony we’re bringing you two Medal of Honor Warfighter multiplayer maps based on the areas in Pakistan where Bin Laden was hunted. You’ve probably already heard about Chitral and Darra in the Single Player missions as you were looking for the Cleric in Chitral and chasing targets through the back alleys of Darra. Now we’re opening up these areas and providing more opportunity to explore them in a multiplayer setting. When deciding on these locales we really wanted to find areas that were both visually interesting, and fit within the fiction of the Medal of Honor Warfighter Universe. More...
