1. The month of October is an exciting one for PS3 gamers, with a plethora of AAA titles hitting store shelves over the next four weeks. I’m excited to announce today that eight of the hottest upcoming titles will be available on PlayStation Network the same day they hit retailers through a new program called PSN Day 1 Digital! To celebrate the launch of this new program, we’re giving you access to participate in “digital game launches,†so you can get your hands on great games releasing in October, without having to leave home. We’re also giving you the chance to pre-order select games ahead of their release date and offering 10% discounts on a number of titles for PlayStation Plus members. 2. Have you heard about Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit? If not, you are truly missing out on a totally amazing, incredibly ridiculous, and completely hilarious adventure. I am not making that up. You legit need this game in your life. Hell Yeah! puts you in control of Ash, a devil rabbit and the prince of Hell. As so many celebrities are these days, Ash is the victim of a vicious smear campaign as somebody posts scandalous bath-time images of him up on the ‘Hell-ternet’. This is a really good way to piss off the prince of Hell. Ash gets so pissed off, in fact, that he wants to make sure that everyone who saw the photos dies. It’s a totally reasonable, logical response, right? This is where you help Ash achieve his goal to destroy all of the monsters of Hell who have seen him in all his naked and embarrassing glory. And that turns out to be a whole lot of fun. More...
 3. The launch of the new PS3 has finally arrived and I hope you are just as excited as we are. Today I’m here to give you the first official look at the brand new PS3 model, plus show you all the goods inside the UNCHARTED 3 Game of the Year Edition Bundle. As mentioned last week, this bundle is packed with incredible value. It includes the new 250GB PS3, so you'll have plenty of storage space to house all of your favorite games, videos, photos, and music. In addition, you’ll get:

UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception Game of the Year Edition Blu-ray

Voucher worth over $30 towards Dust 514 bonus digital content

Additional voucher for a free 30 day membership of PlayStation Plus

 4. It's been a while since we launched Datura exclusively on PSN, and lately I’ve been wondering if anyone had deciphered the true meaning of the game. In many interviews with the press, I’ve said that Datura is open for interpretation and that it depicts visions of what happens after you die. This was true, but I never spoke about the deeper layer of interpretation that connects the scenes. Every madness has its explanation, and Datura is no exception. Reading through the reviews I found that many people got lost in the forest and the fog that surrounds it. Overwhelmed by the decisions and their consequences, it became difficult to recognize the small details that we scattered throughout the storyline. On the surface, Datura can seem random but there is a connection that ties it all together. More...
 5. Blockbuster reviews highlight PTOM’s November issue as we get the world-exclusive first crack at Resident Evil 6 for our cover feature. Executive editor Mikel Reparaz dives in deep to determine whether the newest installment in the survival horror series still delivers the scares with its move towards more action. One thing is for sure -- RE6 and its multiple storyline format doesn’t skimp on play value with more than 30 hours of zombie-battling goodness. We’ve also got the PS3-exclusive review of Borderlands 2. The first Borderlands game was pleasant surprise when it hit in 2010, but it fell a bit short when it came to gameplay polish and presentation. 2K Games and developer Gearbox Software pulled out all the stops for the sequel and review editor Scott Butterworth’s reaction can be summed up in one word: wow. Clear your schedules as this legitimate Game of the Year contender looks to consume an obscene amount of your gaming time. More...

 7. Hey, PS.Blog! This is Wael from Frogwares, and I get to tell you about our latest game, The Testament of Sherlock Holmes. We’ve been developing Sherlock Holmes games for over a decade, and the recent reinventions of Sherlock Holmes in the new movies and BBC series have put a new spin on the character and the world he lives in. With The Testament of Sherlock Holmes we wanted to take it even further and present a dark side of the character that people haven’t seen before. We wanted to do something new, exploring the consequences of being the kind of person Holmes is, and take the player along for the twisted ride. Solving mysteries is what the game is all about. As the player gathers clues and information, they unlock new avenues to explore in the game. More...

 9. After a grueling 12 weeks, we had 6 teams that entered into the Dust Championship. Normally we expect a smooth playoff but not so much this time. Teams were faced with the dreaded XMB Kick randomly, teams cheating and for one team an endless battle of fatigue. But in the end a champion rose from among the ashes to be crowned the UF: Dust Champion for Starhawk on PlayStation 3. United Mercs gained entry into the Dust Championship by winning the second of six deployments serving as the preliminary events leading up to the championship followed by a long battle in the championship ending with a final record of 4 wins and 1 loss. Their only loss came from Mech Warhawk Society which by far was the most handicapped team with the majority of their members are in the UK making the match time in most cases 3am BST. After facing and eliminating Killer Instinct, UNIT returned to meet MWHS in the Semi Finals is a win or go home situation. UNIT held strong winning the Semi Finals only to have to return Friday night to face MWHS again, now a third time. At this point both teams had a 1 – 1 record against each other and whoever won would be crowned a Champion and the team that loss would have to settle for second place. Watch live video from Urgent Fury Gaming Live on TwitchTV Each team set their fate by choosing their maps, modes and loadouts for the finals, here is how it was laid out: Map 1: Scourge- Conduit – CTF – Air Superiority – Chosen by UNIT Map 2: Dust – Outlands – Team Death Match – Lone Wolf – Chosen by MWHS Map 3: Space – Orbital – Zones – Lone Wolf – Chosen by UNIT Map 4: Dust – Outlands – Zones – Ground Pounder Blitz – Chosen by MWHS Map 5: Cypress – Orgin – CTF – Classic Beta Blitz – Chosen by UF In the final match Unit was given home field advantage so their two maps came in the first three rounds, which being the best of 5, that played in their favor. Round one: Unit took the map 2 – 0 Round two: MWHS took the map 65 – 57 Round three: Unit took the map 2935 – 917 Time Expired Round four: Unit took the map 1401 – 1146 Time Expired Both teams fought hard to reach this point and we commend them as well as Killer Instinct which received the MVC (Most Valuable Clan) award. Over the next week we will be announcing the next line up of tournaments for Starhawk including the Starhawk King of the Hill Series. The series will include a King of the Hill set up for each of the team based modes where teams can challenge the King and attempt to take his crown. We will also detail the next league which will run on Tuesday and Thursday Nights every month. So get over to www.urgentfury.com and get your teams set up. View the full article

 11. Last week, Ubisoft graciously offered members of the gaming media the first opportunity to go hands-on with Assassin’s Creed III for PS3 and Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, the upcoming PS Vita-bound chapter set against the backdrop of Spanish occupation in 18th century Louisiana. Both games, of course, demonstrated plenty of promise: ACIII for its Revolutionary War-era pomp and Skyrim-rivalling scale, ACIII: Liberation for its sultry new setting and uncanny attention to detail. But in the five days since the hands-on session, I’ve unexpectedly found myself reflecting more on my experiences with Liberation. More...

 13. We’ll be launching four Amazing Spider-Man DLC packs on the PlayStation Network tomorrow, starting with the Stan Lee Adventure and Rhino Challenge, as well as two new packs – The Lizard Rampage and Oscorp Search & Destroy. In deciding what new content would interest fans of the game, we realized the only thing that could compare to playing as the webhead himself was to let players step into the shoes of other notable characters: The Lizard, Rhino, and my personal favorite, Stan Lee. Plus, you can also fight crime within cool retro-arcade inspired mini-games through Spider-Man’s in-game smartphone. Here’s what you can expect from each of the DLC packs coming your way. In The Lizard Rampage Pack, you’ll play as The Lizard on a quest to stop Oscorp from releasing a cross-species virus blast into the city. With your devastating attacks and speed, you can create chaos throughout the city on a massive scale, using your powerful tail swipes to rip through Oscorp guards or claw strikes to knock down the toxic towers placed around the city. The more you destroy, the more bonus points you’ll earn! More...

 17. It’s almost like this ‘Saturday’ thing happens every week. That means it’s time for the PSN Community Spotlight. For the unfamiliar, this is where PlayStation gamers tell their unique stories/experiences/thoughts, as submitted to this section in the PlayStation Community Forums. Those that make it all the way to the PlayStation Blog will receive a $50 PlayStation Store voucher. Last week we asked about your favorite PlayStation franchises, and gamer Cobrarc13 wrote in to tell us about how he grew to love PlayStation exclusives Gran Turismo 5 and LittleBigPlanet. 18. One of the key factors for a game to be successful revolves around the charisma and empathy of the lead character, a task that seems easy in essence, but which can be an endeavour of epic proportions. The first step in creating our main character was to try and think of a character who would be full of charisma, and who would have natural abilities that would empower them to move around the world and adapt to the kind of mechanics we wanted to build into the game. After a lot of brainstorming, coffee, comic reading, watching cartoons and lots of other inspirational tools, we thought that it would be interesting to play around with a small spider with big eyes that would be able to bring some “human†emotional rapport to the game. We also decided to stick six legs on him -- instead of the standard eight -- to make the character a little more friendly looking and little less creepy, as there are a lot of people with arachnophobia. See, we do care! More...
 19. PlayStation fans are no strangers to the FINAL FANTASY brand, and have continued to be devoted supporters over the series’ 25 year history. Last fall, we brought two additional classic entries in this franchise to the PSN catalog as part of our Winter of RPGs campaign. This time, I’m here to help close out summer with a bang. The list of numbered FINAL FANTASY titles available on the PlayStation family of consoles has been incredible, but alas, it has also been incomplete. That changes on September 25th, with the release of FINAL FANTASY III on PlayStation Network. Now, PSP owners will be able to experience a piece of FINAL FANTASY history as they embark on a journey with the four Warriors of Light -- Luneth, Arc, Refia, and Ingus -- as they battle to save the world from being engulfed in Darkness. A dangerous mission, to be sure; to accomplish their task, they will need an incredible set of skills. More...
 20. At current count, Kratos has decimated 23 of Greek mythology's most important gods and people. And so far, the God of War Facebook community has voted three of those from Kratos' "Olympian Hit List" (Zeus, Cronos, and Thanatos) on to our "God of War’s Top 5 Epic Moments" list. What's the trend? The most epic moments in the God of War: Saga are always when Kratos is fueled by revenge, moving mountains, and defying impossible odds to destroy any mythological super power that gets in his way. We're on to our #3 greatest epic moment -- this boss battle is arguably the grandest of them all. The word "epic" doesn't always mean large in a physical nature, but the battle at the beginning of God of War III personifies the term handily. When I think of God of War III, I always remember the first 45 minutes of the game before anything else because of this epic boss battle. What about you? I dare you to disagree with me... More...

 23. Hi everyone. I'm excited that those of you who are attending Tokyo Game Show will finally be able to have some hands-on experience with Soul Sacrifice! Once you play the game, I'm sure that you'll have a better sense of the world I've been wanting to create. You'll be able to face the dilemmas, tough decisions, and the agony of choice that I've been wanting to portray in a game. I believe the TGS demo does a great job of conveying this new concept. In the trailers and interviews released so far, we've shown the game's dark world setting and shared some of the story elements revealed in the single player mode. We've also shared a few of the back stories from both the monsters and sorcerers that you'll encounter during gameplay.
