Soooo I kinda let the cat out of the bag in one of my replies to a recent Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time blog post, but I thought I would make it more official here: The Sly Collection is heading to PSN as a PlayStation Store download! Look for all three full games to be available for download in the US on Tuesday, November 29th. The Sly series is such a PS2 classic; they are still as much fun to play today as the day they came out. And in their new, remastered form, all three titles feature Trophies, wide screen HD running at a smooth frame rate (60 frames per second!) and they are all playable in stereoscopic 3D. You can purchase the Sly Collection for $29.99 or you can buy the individual titles for $9.99 each. Speaking from personal experience, Once you play one, I know you will want to play them all! So if you have not had a chance to play the new Sly Collection on Blu-ray, or you just want to revisit your favorite boss battle in Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus or finally complete all those Master Thief Challenges in Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves, then check them out on PSN on the 29th. But no stealing!! More...

What better way to celebrate the arrival of PlayStation’s most anticipated game of the year than with a blowout review? PTOM’s holiday issue cover feature breaks down the highs (many) and the lows (not many) of UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception. Yes, it’s bigger and better than its predecessor in nearly every expected way, but even we were surprised by what emerged as the game’s defining trait. The holiday season always means a deluge of games to review, but the quality of titles available this year is unprecedented. Check out our verdicts on Batman: Arkham City, Saints Row: The Third, and Rayman Origins and you may come to same conclusion we have: Our friends and family had better be generous this year ’cause we can’t afford all this gaming goodness. But if your thoughts run more toward giving than getting (sucker), PTOM’s annual Holiday Gift Guide offers up the best gamer loot..er, presents of the season. The PTOM staff even makes personal appearances in the feature and share their most precious memories of Christmas’ past for your mocking pleasure. More...

I’m delighted to be able to announce – and show a trailer for – MotorStorm RC, Evolution Studios’ upcoming radio controlled off-road racing game for PS Vita and PlayStation Network. It was also announced literally moments ago on stage – so it’s absolutely hot off the press! You can watch first video of MotorStorm RC in action here. I’ve been game director to a small, elite team at Evolution Studios for most of the year, creating a simulation of high-speed radio-controlled car racing for PSN download. We’re extremely pleased with how the game is coming together; it’s a perfect combination of classic racing with really modern connectivity features and it’s already bigger than your average download game, with visually stunning renditions of all four MotorStorm worlds (and eight of their vehicle classes). Every aspect of the game comes loaded with endless competition that you can share with friends and rivals worldwide - whether that’s on PS3 or PS Vita, or both - and we’re still packing it full of challenges, race types and features too! On behalf of the entire team at Zipper Interactive, I am proud to announce a new shooter, Unit 13, designed from the ground up for the new PlayStation Vita. It’s been very exciting developing a game for the first portable console with precision dual analog sticks, the perfect platform for a fast action, hard-hitting, third-person shooter like Unit 13. In addition, Vita’s front and back touch interface provided a unique and fun way to interact quickly with in-the-world elements of the game. Fast action, on-the-go gameplay was a key goal for the Unit 13 team. The game is designed for players to move quickly into the action, choosing from one of six Operatives with unique abilities to tackle 36 action-packed missions across nine unique locales. Missions come in a variety of sizes and difficulty. Some are smaller bite-sized battles; others are longer, more challenging, multi-objective missions that are a good test for any skilled shooter fan. As you make your way through the variety of missions, you unlock the right to take on the tougher High Value Target (HVT) enemy battles. After completing an HVT mission, you can share them with friends and nearby players through PlayStation Vita’s “NEAR†feature. More...

Halloween may be over, but if you’ve ever wondered what Thanksgiving might be like from the turkey’s point of view, Corpse Party’s totally got your back! Releasing for the PSP later today as a PlayStation Store exclusive download (at a mere $19.99), Corpse Party immerses you within the creepy confines of a dangerously haunted, completely inescapable school building as you struggle in vain to rescue your friends from the clammy grasp of death and find a way back home before suffering a complete descent into insanity (or worse!). So after you’ve feasted upon the supple flesh of the holiday bird this week, let the tryptophan lull you into a false sense of comfort, dim the lights and get ready to have some serious nightmares. This party’s just getting started – and it ain’t messin’ around! More...

This week we follow up with even more great features of the ModNation Racers: Road Trip Track Studio. Last week we revealed these exciting brand new features… Multiple Themes, Fully Rotatable Props, Draw / Trace Track, and Estimated Track Times (read about them HERE) Here are a few more great features in ModNation Racers: Road Trip for Vita that will help you to become the ultimate track designer: 1. Mod Terrain The most talked-about feature in ModNation Racers: Road Trip is the use of the front screen and rear touch panel to sculpt your track’s terrain. In Finger Sculpt simply touching a finger to the front touch screen will immediately begin to lower that section of terrain. Continuing to press or rub the area will result in lowering the terrain or create lakes, valleys, or rivers. Conversely the rear touch panel allows you to raise your terrain to create mountains, peaks, plateaus, vistas, etc… with just you fingertip(s). Try making a mountain range with all your fingers… kinda awesome! That’s what Multi-Touch Functionality is all about! More...

Story by: CritiKiL As the saying goes, ‘cheaters never win’. While it doesn’t always prove true, a huge number of cheaters definitely won’t make it to the end of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Infinity Ward has banned more than 1,600 players from MW3 for cheating using glitches uncovered in the new game, and that’s just soo far! Yes, there will be [more] Bloodshed. *Infinity Ward has been on a mass-banning spree as numerous glitches are being found and exploited by cheaters in Modern Warfare 3.*Upwards of 1,600 players, and we expect many more to come.*Posting on Twitter, Infinity Ward’s community man Robert Bowling said: “Any attempt to cheat, hack, or glitch in #MW3 will not be tolerated. 1600+ bans issued. Updates in works. Please cont. to report offenders.”*He later added: “We are doing mass bans on PC as well while we work on updates…” and has repeatedly promised a “Hot fix already in the works”for multiple glitches reported by agitated Twitter users. Despite its issues,*Modern Warfare 3 has broken movie box office, book and game sales records for five day worldwide sell-through in dollars.*Modern Warfare 3 has been a massive hit, breaking not only records for game release, but also book and box office openings. In its first day, the game*sold 6.5 million units for a total of $400 million in sales. By Thursday, Activision had nearly doubled that figure. The company announced that in its first five days, Modern Warfare 3 generated more than $775 million in sales, smashing the*$650 million record*set a year ago by its predecessor, Call of Duty: Black Ops, in addition to the the $500 million record established two years ago by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. So you see, there’s alot of necessity for keeping a well developed game that’s making soo much money, to be protected from exploits. Best believe that money is going to be put into keeping it ‘Cheat, Glitch and Exploit-Free’… More...

Quick question for you readers out there - do you use Google+? Like a lot of companies, we set up an official PlayStation presence there once that became possible last week. The question we're facing right now is - for those of you on G+, what do you want to see there? Right now, G+ seems like a stripped down Facebook - not unlike when Facebook first started. One of the big differences is Hangouts, a sort of livestreaming app that's native to Google+, so we're sort of looking in that direction. Of course, all that matters is what you all want to see - let us know in the comments, please.
The PS.Blog weekly reading list (Week of November 14, 2011)

10 great PlayStation Network games under $5 - VentureBeat

How to turn a gamer into a racing driver - Telegraph

PlayStation 3D TV brings technology within reach of gamers (review) - A+E Interactive
More...

Story by: CritiKiL We are slowly becoming more and more plagued with those that cheat in Modern Warfare 3 and utilize ways to get the upper hand on other players. This upsets the most when playing multiplayer, so NOW something is being done about it.*The past Call of Duty games have been overrun by cheaters, and Infinity Ward are now taking a firm hand in MW3, which has been shown in a recent tweet that explains anyone exploiting hacks, glitches and cheats will likely see a ban. They are closing in on 2000 bans being issued, and are patching the current issues. Robert Bowling (Creative Strategist*@InfinityWard), has been updating his 268,000 followers on Twitter about the current problem with MW3 cheats by asking for our help. Now, if you wanted to report those that you feel are ruining the game you can so “directly within the MW3 game”, and the reports immediately goes to the security team and are processed.*You can read the latest updates via*Bowling’s Twitter page, in which he continues to explain that hot fixeswill correct most problems in MW3, and they’re having daily meetings at Infinity Ward to “investigate causes and solutionsâ€. Interestingly he also states that bans are different for each user, and the “greater the douche†equals a longer punishment. More...

Story by: CritiKiL Activision*plans to have*Call of Duty: Elite*fully operational by December 1 2011! This is my birthday, so of course this is a good thing for me to here. In speaking with*G4, Daniel Suarez (Activision’s VP of Production), attempted to reassure users that the service will be functional in the coming weeks. His quote:*“It was our fault that the service wasn’t up and running the day [fans] put in their token or the day they bought it…”*and,*“They kind of have to bear with us while we bring this all back up, but for us it’s literally ‘Give us those couple weeks, we’re giving those to you for free and come December 1 the goal is that we’ll have everything up and running’.” Suarez was referring to the*extended month of*Elite*service*users will receive due to its current problems. He*also provided insight into how the situation got out of hand, despite extensive beta testing. No need to quote everything he said, just rest assured that by 12.01.11 you won’t see anything but a fully functional website! But some other explainations he said worth mentioning is: “When we ran our beta, [it] was strictly on the PC, and a lot of our assumptions were based around [the idea] that a larger majority of users were going to use the PC [interface] since it’s a more robust version of the service than the console app… / Some of that may have been incorrectly analysed, because we’re seeing 80 to 90% of our users coming straight from the console app.*Right now we’re retrofitting that so that that works better across the board rather than the way it was set up…”.* This explains alot, since the majority of Activisions Fans are Console gamers. Many users have had difficulty signing in and using*Call of Duty: Elite,*since it launched earlier this month alongside*Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Also, if you’ve all been wondering what’s up with the COD Elite “Mobile Apps“? These have been delayed,*while Activision works on the console apps.*The iPhone and Android applications of the social networking service have been delayed until further notice while server issues continue to be worked on.*“Since we do not want to add even more stress to the back-end servers, we are holding back on launching the*Elite*mobile applications until the service is stable and our players can easily access it… / We will have the apps ready to launch as soon as we are comfortable the experience will be a great one, and will update with more information soon…” ~ read a Q&A on*Activision‘s website. For the ‘Bad News’, the PC version, which has*already been delayed indefinitely, may never be released despite the developer’s efforts.*“We are working towards a universal*Elite*experience but we cannot guarantee if or when a version will be available for the PC…” ~ the firm wrote on Twitter in response to a user inquiry. To sort of compensate us, Activision has since given*paying members an additional 30 days’ subscription*as a result of the ongoing issues. I can’t wait, COD Elite to be Fully Functional on my Birthday! Now there’s another present I can add to my collection on that day To remind you of why we are ALL waiting for things to be fixed, enjoy the*Modern Warfare 3*Tango Behind the Scenes – Connect video below and leave us a comment or two to tell us what YOU think about this awesome accomplishment of a Gaming Franchise: More...

This week, I chased lightning bugs, picked flowers, flicked fire from my fingertips, and crafted a sweet leather helmet. Like many of you, Jeff, Rey and I spent (too) much of our week wrapped in the warm, numbing embrace of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. If you're playing Skyrim, let's trade some war stories in the comments! If you need help or support for the game, head here. Otherwise, this week saw the release of three new PlayStation Move games -- Medieval Moves: Deadmund's Quest (from the creators of Move classic Sports Champions), Carnival Island (from team members Boom Blox and Guitar Hero), and Eyepet & Friends (from the creators of...Eyepet).
