According to the sources, Microsoft is discussing possible free-to-play deals with developers, with the business model offering either in-game items or premium upgrades using Microsoft Points. Story by Nemesis Activision posted a new Call of Duty: Black Ops DLC trailer. This time it’s for the Annihilation Map Pack. It happens to be the third map pack for a Call of Duty game, which is strange, because usually they are “Two and Through” when it comes to DLC. It will look familiar to some of you, probably because it’s starts off with* the “Hamburger Guy” and The Rolling Stones “Gimme Shelter” song playing throughout. There are of course 5 maps in this pack, Hangar 18, Drive-In, Silo, and Hazard are the 4 multiplayer maps and another Zombie map called Shangri-La. The in-game XMB has been a jumbled, slow-loading mess since it’s launch. It needs to load faster (no more spinning circles), and have fewer useless icons (photos, videos, etc) for more efficiency. There was a voting-poll post made in the Playstation Blog a little over a year ago about this but has yet to be fixed. Article and images by: CritiKiL One poster even offered: “Anything that can’t be executed or viewed while playing a game should simply not be displayed on the in-game XMB. For example, if a game does not support custom soundtrack (playing your own music), don’t even show the music icon. Since you can’t play movies and games at the same time, hide that too, and so on.” I recently posted my frustrations with this system in the Urgent Fury Forum and was pleased and shocked at the same time. Pleased, that others were experiencing the same problems, and Shocked because, ‘if all of us have been having the same problem for more than a year now…Why Hasn’t it been fixed?’ And this is not just a Regional issue, it’s happening to my friends and associates in Europe as well as other parts of the world. If you can think of a combination…’The Drunken Moogle’ probably either has it or will let you post your recipe for it. Their latest drink concoction is the Nukem, or*Duke Nukem Forever Cocktail. So guess what? I tried it last night with a mixture of Black Ops Escalation DLC, and it was a heck of a morning getting up but last night was one of the best nights I’ve had in a long time! So if you’re planning on playing and drinking a Nukem, I suggest that you call in to your job the night before. Yesterday, David Vonderhaar tweeted: Changes to the Famas include tweaks on ADS raise time, hip fire accuracy reduction, more gun kick (less accuracy) and slightly slower re-center speed. The fire rate, damage, range and magazine size will stay the same. Although this is a controversial decision by David and Treyarch, It’s probably a very good idea, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve emptied an entire clip at someone and they shot maybe 3 bullets with their Famas to kill me. With a development cycle which saw several studios take up and leave the game, delays, announcements, re-announcements, cancellations, and several promises ensuring that the Duke is down but definitely not out. However, not many were strong enough to stand by him during these testing times. However, *Slash000 wasn’t among those, he was the guy who had pre-ordered the game ten years ago (2001) and never cancelled it as he believed the game will indeed see the light of the day, and as we all know but still find it hard to swallow, he turned out to be right. Duke Nukem Forever has released, the game is out for everyone to play. Despite the harsh criticism it has come under, the fact remains that it’s has come out of its*hibernation and Slash got his game, as Gamestop (the shop where he had placed the pre-order) decided to honor it. The original pre-order slip Gearbox Software the guys responsible for this remarkable feat has acknowledged this man’s commitment and the faith he has shown in the Duke. It’s made sure that his steadfast will and determination to play the game doesn’t go in vain. It has showered Slash with the choicest of Duke Nukem collectibles custom-delivered to his doorstep. From the Ashes map pack consists of Guerrilla Warfare maps and two Warzone maps. The preview video posted below is of Lente Missile Base, a Warzone map for 24 players set inside an abandoned missile base at the edge of the Kaznan Jungle. Follow for a preview of Mobile Factory, a Guerrilla Warfare map for 16 players set on one of the largest vehicles from the single player campaign. The personal info of users of its Sega Pass online service users was compromised, but payment data was not. Over the last 24 hours we have identified that unauthorised entry was gained to our SEGA Pass database. We immediately took the appropriate action to protect our consumers’ data and isolate the location of the breach. We have launched an investigation into the extent of the breach of our public systems. We have identified that a subset of SEGA Pass members emails addresses, dates of birth and encrypted passwords were obtained. To stress, none of the passwords obtained were stored in plain text. Please note that no personal payment information was stored by SEGA as we use external payment providers, meaning your payment details were not at risk from this intrusion. If you use the same login information for other websites and/or services as you do for SEGA Pass, you should change that information immediately. Story by Stephan Totilo @ Kotaku.com The rumors (and signs) are true. Call of Duty: Black Ops isn’t done yet. Treyarch will release a third map pack, on the Xbox 360 first, on June 28. It’s called Annihilation and will feature four maps: Hangar 18, Drive-In, Silo and Hazard. “Players will also enjoy an all-new Zombies experience, Shangri-La,” Black Ops‘ studio chief Mark Lamia said in a press release. He described the presumably four-player co-op level as “an exotic and mysterious map filled with deadly traps, dark secrets and innovative gameplay that will challenge even the most daring Zombie hunters.” No price was given, but it is likely to cost $15, as previous map packs have.
