Story by Brenna Hillier @ VG247.com. Monolith and Warner Bros. have opened beta sign-ups for Gotham City Impostors, the downloadable multiplayer title set in the Batman universe. The beta is due to begin in September, and you can sign up on the game’s official website. Gotham City Impostors highlights the adventures of a bunch of Joe Blows living in Gotham City, who get their kicks by doing bad cosplay of Batman canon heroes and villains, and taking to the streets to duke it out. Ubisoft has released a video showing a chronological wrap up of all the Assassin’s Creed products that have been made so far along with news that on September 3, a multiplayer beta for Assassin’s Creed Revelations will be made available as a timed exclusive for PS Plus and Uplay members. From September 3-11, Plus and Uplay members get exclusive access to the multiplayer beta on PS3, which offers access to nine characters: Sentinel, Vanguard, Guardian, Vizier, Thespian, Deacon, Bombardier, Trickster and Champion. It will also include the maps Knight’s Hospital, Antioch, and Constantinople, with four playable modes: Wanted and Manhunt, along with the new modes Deathmatch and Artifact Assault. No word just yet when the beta will go public. Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg announced during his presentation at the 13th Annual Pacific Crest Global Technology Leadership Forum in Vail, Colorado that directors Ridley Scott and Tony Scott are working on content for Call of Duty Elite. Hirshberg said Activision is developing “exclusive episodic entertainmentâ€, built just for the Call of Duty community. Other Hollywood types already announced as working on content for the firm are Bennett Miiler, along with Will Arnett and Jason Bateman. Ben Silverman, the executive producer for The Office, is also working on content, according to Hirshberg. “Just like any other passion that people spend a lot of their free time doing, Call of Duty players share a common language and a common experience and we think we can create some entertainment content that they will love and talk about and share,†he said. When we first heard about the opportunity to not only work with Wizards of the Coast but on the Dungeons & Dragons property itself, well let’s just say that the nerdgasm around the studio was at an all-time high. We went with action-RPG as the genre based off of studio competency, market trends and general interest (basically, we thought it was cool and knew we can do a good job of it.) Story by Stephany Nunneley @ VG247.com. Battlefield 3 will contain 10 times the weapon unlockables as Battlefield 2, according to the latest entry to the Battleblog. These hardware unlocks will be spread over weapons, attachments, gadgets as well as a “huge unlock tree for vehicles alone.†According to Valerian Noghin and Fredrik Thylander, the game’s persistence designers, there will also be medals, ribbons and service stars displaying “skill, commitment, and teamplay prowess,†handed out to players. There are also a number ranks in the game, as with Bad Company 2, and badge ranks will show off the overall player progress in the game, and more ways to progress with “new concept of Service Stars.†Service Stars basically “challenge the hardcore†and the more one plays, the more they are eligible for further promotion by getting Service Stars added to the weapon skill badge, vehicles, kits, and overall rank. “Anytime your kill card is displayed, everyone will see exactly how experienced you are with your current equipment,†read the blog. “The ultimate bragging right would be for a player to be awarded the rank of Colonel with 100 Service Stars attached, and to have 100 stars in all weapons, kits, and vehicles.
