Portable HD's

So I was at that damn evil store Walmart trying to not buy more then what I went for (impossible but yea). I got a 320gb portable HD for $59.99....yes I couldn't help it.

 

I'm just curious how can I use it for my ps3 too along with my computer.

Some work, some don't.

 

I know when I had my 80gig, I could plug on in via the USB port and it recognized it...while an older one would not.

 

Screw Walmart BTW.....I have only been once and I hated it.

Hey ya gotta try and save money anyway ya can lol...but yea my friend told me I had to convert it ti a fat something or other.....and that I had to use swish tool idk...lol.

Yes it has to be formatted to Fat32 in order for the PS3 to recognize it. It's a little unfortunate because NTFS is a much better way to go. You can plug it in to your computer and format the drive.

Plug your external into your computer search for disk management utility. Your hard drives should all show up choose the right one and format it to fat 32.

LOL Wrath i was in wal mart the other night and saw the HDs i picked up one color grey i love it, and yes you have format it to FAT32. Which is not hard to do at all.

Guys, for future reference... if you're looking to get a portable HD, getting an internal one with an enclosure is the way to go. Wrath, for the same 60 bucks, I got a 1gig internal HD and the enclosure. I just put the HD in the enclosure and connected the enclosure to my PC and formatted and was good to go. The cool thing about the enclosures is that it also allows you to swap out for any other HD you have laying around and use it as a portable HD. I've had a lot of PC's and I've always kept the HD after getting rid of them and now I can use the HDs from all of them without having to open up my CPU and install them as a slave drive. But yes, Fat32 is what the playstation and every other thing out there recognizes. NTFS is windows only.

the reason i got the same HD as wrath is because is a portable HD and is usb powered.

I got the same gray one lol.....like he said tho and I need it for say carrying all my graphics and all the music and movies I can get haha.

 

I don't need more memory and I looked at those enclosures before to big for my taste I needed something I can just slip into a pocket like flash drive but big enough to carry a lot of info I used 100gbs already.
