here in lies the problem with multi-million dollar contracts:

 

you want a guarantee on your investment. so in the contract, there are a lot of clauses stating what you can and cannot do away from the game. you do not want your 30 million dollar man to get hurt and miss games because he had an accident skiing, or in this case, riding a moped(?). BUT...you cannot hold a player back too much, or they will get unhappy and find a new team that allows them to have a life outside of the game. so waddya doo??

The funny part is, they put those clauses in so said player doesn't hurt the TEAM. Suspending the guy 30 games is hurting the TEAM.

 

 

They should have just fined him the 3 mil and moved on. :-\

Actually in this case it helps the team with the suspension. He will be out anyway with the injury, so they are saving payroll while he is out.
