  3. Technically speaking, a car is drifting when the “slip angle†(the angle between where the tire is pointing and the direction of movement) of the rear wheels is greater than the slip angle of the front tires. In other words, the car is in a controlled slide where the rear wheels have lost traction, and the front wheels are pointing towards the direction of movement. Put more simply: drifting is the art of sliding sideways. There is some debate about the origins of drifting, but it was popularized in the 1970s by the likes of Kunimitsu Takahashi, who is called the “Father of drifting.†There are actually several ways to execute a drift in real life, all varying in difficulty, and all requiring a pretty intense amount of practice. Absolute Drift: Zen Edition uses an approximated physics model — but it will still take some practice to master! So, let’s talk about how drifting works in the game. DRIFTING BASICSApproach the curveYou’ll need to approach each curve with just enough speed to enable the car to lose traction as you turn — but not so much speed that you’ll lose control! I recommend that at first, it’s best to go easy on the accelerator. ApproachTry approaching the turn right in the middle of the road at first: Approach the curve from the center of the road Lose TractionJust before you enter the curve, tap the handbrake button for a moment as you gently turn into the curve. This should put the car into a spin as the rear wheels lose grip. Tap handbrake just before the curve. Red arrows indicate tire direction Counter-steer and accelerateAs you move through the curve, you’ll need to “counter-steer†the car by turning away from the curve — otherwise the angular momentum will cause the car to spin out. For starters, try to keep the car pointed at the inside edge of the track as you round the turn — and keep the accelerator applied to push the car through the turn. Accelerate through the curve, continuing to counter-steer to re-align the car. Those are the basics! It may sound simple, but getting everything just right for the perfect drift will take practice. ADVANCED TECHNIQUESAfter you’ve mastered the basics, here are a few advanced things to try: Try turning off “steering assist†in the game settings, for the ultimate control over your car Try medium and hard mode. These settings affect the acceleration of the car, which makes it more difficult to control — but also helps with longer drifts. Try drifting without the handbrake — instead relying on your speed and turning to help throw the car into a drift. It takes a little practice, but many advanced players prefer this method Experiment with more and less tight drifts. Sometimes you’ll want to drift along the outer wall to get a clipping point. Use your tire tracks as a guide! Learn from the mistakes you made the last time around the track, and adjust your tactics to perfect your technique. Turn on the “World’s best†option for ghosts in drift tracks, and learn from the best player in the world on each track. This is a great way to learn advanced techniques! Scoring: Your score and multiplier go up faster the more extreme your drift angle is, and the faster you’re moving. The same is true for clipping point scoring. So, learn to take big risks for big rewards! And there you have it. Hopefully these tips will help you hit the ground running (Sliding!) when the game launches August 16. View the full article
  4. After putting the finishing touches on the PS4 version of Strike Vector EX two weeks ago, our three-man Ragequit team is ecstatic to share our game with you. Come Tuesday, August 30, you can strap yourself into a Vector! The road here has not been easy. When we originally created Ragequit Corporation, we had all worked at larger companies, like Quantic Dream (Heavy Rain), Ubisoft, Amerzone, and others. Pierre-Etienne Travers (artist), Cedric Lecacheur (programmer), and myself had only ever worked on games we were told to work on. This was the first one where we could do anything we wanted. Anything! Strike Vector EX is inspired by many games. We used to play a ton of Quake and Counter-Strike at lunch. Our original goal was to make an air combat game. When we started, we were looking at the combat from Crimson Sky. When we realized it wasn’t going fast enough, we increased the speed. We started shifting toward Quake. Once we realized that the sensations were the same, FPS-style combat was further integrated. It took some time, testing and all, and we improvised a lot! Strike Vector EX is not just an aerial combat game, but a fast-paced, mech-style FPS dogfight. You can blaze into combat at full speed, instantly stopping in stationary mode, spin around like in Descent, and blast your enemies. We provide you with a third- and a first-person perspective and — once you get the hang of the first-person view — you’ll never turn back. That’s when Strike Vector gets really fun. We built the PS4 version from the ground up. We don’t think of it as a sequel — it’s really a brand new version of the game. Strike Vector EX runs on the Unreal Engine 4, targeting 1080p at 60 frames per second. It features a full single-player mode with cutscenes, including 15 missions, plus mini-games and side-missions such as survival, attack, destroy, and duel, all with relentless AI. We added a Skirmish mode — an offline multiplayer mode packed with nasty AI bots. And we have given gamers the option to fully customize the look of their Vector and their weapons. So if you like to snipe from afar, plow people with a Gatling gun, or prefer the up-close blast of a shotgun, you’re in luck. There are up to 10,000 different weapons, special items, and armor combinations! And, of course, we have the ultimate mode of them all: multiplayer for up to 12 players on 15 maps. This is the heart of our game. We cannot wait for you to jump in and play. See you on August 30! View the full article
  5. We’re very excited to be releasing the PS2 to PS4 version of Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy on August 9 via PlayStation Store. Indigo Prophecy was initially launched in 2005 in partnership with Atari. Looking back, I can say that our team’s serenity and faith in what we were creating was in direct opposition to the skepticism of a great number of people to whom we pitched the game. This skepticism was so radical that we had to switch publishing partners during the last third of the game’s production. While we were showing off the beta version, a certain group of high-profile professionals even claimed that we would never be able to finish the game! The reason for this skepticism was that we were creating something radically new, as we were attempting to resolve an equation that many thought was unsolvable: putting the story at the very core of an interactive experience and inventing gameplay that allowed players, through their actions and decisions, to change the way the story unfolds. When the game launched, we were thrilled by the critical reception. The game became the best-reviewed adventure game since Grim Fandango. We received more than 50 accolades for Best Adventure Game, Best Story, Best Original Score, and even some Game of the Year awards. The game “found its audience†and became commercially successful, which enabled us to fund a prototype (The Casting, for those old enough to remember!) leading us to sign our next game with Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios. Indigo Prophecy, in many ways, paved the way for Heavy Rain (released on PS3 in 2010, and on PS4 in 2016) and Beyond: Two Souls (PS3 in 2013 and PS4 in 2015). Most of the concepts found in its successors were invented during this game’s development: multiple characters, contextual gameplay mechanics, characters you can identify with, a cinematic experience (thanks to highly detailed environments), and beautiful music composed by Angelo Badalamenti and our dear late friend Normand Corbeil. We hope you will enjoy this adapted version, lovingly crafted by our friends of the International Software Development Group at SIEA, which features the original game as well as a complete set of newly implemented Trophies. 6. Galak-Z’s long-awaited free Season 5 DLC launches today and is ready to take you into the endless vortex of warped space combat known only as The Void! We are rebranding Galak-Z to reflect the update since the new content opens up a whole new way to play. Did we mention that you finally get to fight the Baron?! With newly implemented Online Leaderboards, The Void game mode provides an endless playground for players to showcase their moment-to-moment survival skills and to post their scores as a challenge to friends and foes alike. New Online Leaderboards Daily Challenge : fixed loadouts and level seeds Endless procedurally generated playground Best of the addictive gameplay of Galak-Z Galak-Z is all about honing one’s ability to dexterously pilot their ship and to strategically leverage the mech form to take on any set of enemies and environmental hazards. While we’ve kept the narrative-based, procedurally generated Rogue and Arcade story modes, The Void focuses on the essence of Galak-Z while providing an ever-escalating difficulty curve to challenge even the most skilled player. To help encourage true competition, we have introduced the Daily Challenge that provides the same unique loadout and level layout seed for all who participate each and every day. Players can come back daily to see who will top the leaderboards! We listened to your overwhelming feedback and provided an endless stage to show off your moves in this spinning space death ballet… well, until you die. But, you can take all your ship piloting mastery and mech sword-swinging prowess you’ve gained in this wasteland back to the main single-player campaign. Whether you play in unforgiving Rogue Mode or in Arcade Mode with its progression saving continues. Myth Debunked! You Can Hear Music in SpaceWhat better way to give you that Galak-Z feel than to have it echo in your head with the highly addictive soundtrack from the wizard who inhabits the cosmos, scntfc. Beyond the Void sets the tone for the intensely ramping action of The Void and is scntfc (AKA C. Andrew Rohrmann)’s latest addition to an already killer set of tracks. Much like The Void DLC, Beyond the Void is free for your ears! You can check out the track, or buy the album in digital or Saturn-inspired 7″ vinyl from here. scntfc found a wonderful parallel from the same era that works perfectly to define the sonic setting within which Galak-Z takes place: the synth-heavy film soundtracks of the late 70s and early 80s. Taking cues from the likes of John Carpenter and Goblin and the soundtracks they were responsible for… from Escape From New York to Dawn of the Dead. The music echoes the ever-changing nature of Galak-Z’s moment-to-moment array of frenetic combat. It’s no small feat to take layers and layers of tracks and blend them together to broadcast what’s about to happen in the heat of battle while also making it sound like a seamless score. As if the composer is sitting over your shoulder and adjusting the music to fit your every action. Not creepy at all, scntfc! So suit up and get ready to launch into The Void! A-Tak and the whole crew will be watching the Leaderboards from the dark side of an asteroid near you! View the full article
  7. Hi, PlayStation fans. My name is Brian and I’m proud to introduce you to No Matter Studios and our first project, Prey for the Gods on PS4. Prey for the Gods is an action survival game set on a desolate frozen island. To survive you must explore, climb, and destroy the very gods you believe in. We’re typically asked how do three developers pull off something like this? When looking at ways to tell our story of Prey for the Gods we had a number of options. We could’ve gone with the typical AAA ideal. Voice over, heavy narrative, and long cut-scenes. There’s a place for that in games, but as a three-person studio, we knew that kind of storytelling wouldn’t be right for us. We had to think differently. I really enjoyed Journey, and more recently Hyper Light Drifter’s take on storytelling. As a gamer, I’ve always loved uncovering and exploring the worlds I play in. I enjoy piecing together what happened. I find being shown elements of the story in the world allows me to immerse myself in it. Instead of telling me why the world is covered in the snow, show me! Show me the struggles and grim endings that have happened here. Let me put the pieces together and come to conclusions on my own. Through the use of ruins, statues, and murals the player will see what has happened to the world. I feel like this style of storytelling works well for smaller teams without sacrificing the scale and scope of what we’re trying to tell. As a developer, I look to Shadow of the Colossus as a game that inspires ambition. I watched friends play it, and what I saw blew me away. I was amazed at what they accomplished. To push oneself to the limits like Team ICO pushed itself on PS2 is certainly something we want to honor. When approaching Prey for the Gods, we wanted to embrace that ambition. Our goal isn’t to make a sequel, or make a carbon copy of Shadow of the Colossus. We want to push ourselves to create a game that we want to play that exemplifies the core mechanics, and atmosphere that one sees — and if we do it right inspire others to do the same. Prey for the Gods will be a game that scratches an itch that many fans have been wanting scratched for close to 10 years.. As an art student in college I was always taught to learn from the masters. “Stand on the shoulder of giantsâ€, they’d say. I guess I took that advice literally. It’s clear to anyone that has seen Prey for the Gods, that it’s inspired by Shadow of the Colossus. We don’t deny this — we embrace it. And we hope you will, too. View the full article
  8. This year, the Call of Duty World League presented by PS4 provided many hours of intense gameplay. The CWL casters, Clint “Maven†Evans, Matt “Mr. X†Morello, Jack “Courage†Dunlop, and John “Revan†Boble have gone through and found the 10 best plays from the last 7 months of the CWL. These matches from the North American, European, and Australian/New Zealand teams are only a taste of what will be on showcase at the CWL Championships, taking place September 1 through September 4 as part of Call of Duty XP. Enjoy! 10.) Diabolic’s Insane CTF Rampage — Maven In a matter of 15 seconds, DT’s Diabolic returns two of his team flags back to his base, brings his enemy flag to his base, and earns a five kill streak! His insane play around the objective allowed him to use specialist ability Heatwave twice in the span of seven seconds. 9.) Classic Play — Maven Rise’s Classic enters the Search and Destroy round at 5-1. He is able to plant the bomb and then systematically pick apart all four players of Cloud9 for the ace, a clean sweep of the other team. The final moments conclude with a 1v2 clutch assisted by his perfect use of specialist ability Active Camo. He then sat at an astounding 9-1 going into only the fifth round of the mode. 8.) A 20 Killstreak?! — Revan It’s very easy to get caught out of position and get taken out in Call of Duty, so to go on a 20 kill streak is unheard of in a competitive situation. It makes it even more impressive that it’s on Infection, a map known for long engagements and difficult for most SMG players. Orbit’s Nimble absolutely dominated the map in a way that made everyone sit up and take note. 7.) Tojor’s 1V4 S&D Glitch Keeps Giants Alive — Revan In the toughest situation you can find yourself in during Search and Destroy, Giant’s Tojor stays calm and collected after picking up two initial kills, he then shows decisive and smart play as he approaches the bombsite. He finds the third kill through an enemy’s specialist ability, Heatwave, only to use his specialist ability Glitch, and jukes the remaining player to finish the clutch. 6.) Aqua Showing Off — Revan After surviving the initial engagement when retaking a bombsite, eLevate’s Aqua follows his teammate with two impressive sniper shots to clear out the street, then promptly turns around and gets the round-winning kill. 5.) OpTic’s Crazy Uplink Comeback — Courage OpTic is down by two possessions with 25 seconds remaining in a swing game three. After a nice dunk by Scump, OpTic does a great job of forcing EnVy to spawn farther away so it can rally in another score. OpTic’s Crimsix has the most important kill of the game, cutting down Envy’s Slasher before he can throw the drone away from OpTic. The drone is then passed forward for a swift dunk with four seconds remaining. 4.) Vortex With the Fury Kill Ace — Courage Getting an ace (knocking out all four of the opposing team) is already a tough task in Call of Duty. Getting an ace in four seconds is almost unheard of. With precision shots and great positioning behind the B-site, Exertus’s Vortex is able to clutch a situation against all odds. 3.) Nagafen with the S&D Ace — Courage Game Five. Round 10, an intense place in Search and Destroy. eLevate’s Nagafen in a 1v4 against one of the most historic organizations in competitive Call of Duty. Perfect accuracy gives him three kills from one clip of his M8 assault rifle. Because of this he earns his specialist ability, Active Camo, which is one of the best specialists for a 1v1 scenario. Envy’s Havok tries to clean up Nagafen but camo is popped and an easy engagement is won. 2.) Is that Even Legal? — Mr. X We had never seen 60+ kills during a CWL regular season match. To hit that mark or even get close to it is a crazy scenario where you’re making all the right plays and connecting with all your shots. H2K’s Legal set a mark that has yet to be attained by any other player. 1.) Nagafen Sneaks Under Platform for a Three-piece — Mr. X This play really showcased the movement system in Black Ops 3. eLevate’s Nagafen hits an amazing lower tree wall-run, which nobody was really doing at the time, to sneak behind three players who couldn’t see him, making the play below the platform. 10. Hi everyone, my name’s Henry and I’m the creative mind behind Hue, a vibrant puzzle-platformer where you alter the world by changing its background color. The concept sounds simple, but since we started work on it in 2014, we’ve created a colorful world full of mind-bending puzzles, memorable characters, and heartfelt stories. You play as the titular Hue, exploring a dangerous grey land, unearthing colored fragments on a journey to find his missing mother. These fragments allow him to manipulate color, creating many gameplay and puzzle-solving opportunities. We’re going to show you a few of these now. On your adventure, the colored fragments you find will appear on a mysterious wheel. Selecting a color with the right analog stick will change the background color. Then, when obstacles match the background, they disappear — letting you pass through! As the colors increase, so too do the types of puzzles. Soon you’ll be making all sorts of things appear and disappear. Crates, crumbling rocks, balloons, moving platforms, boulders, and many more items will help or hinder your progress. Remember — you’re one color away from certain death, so solve these puzzles carefully! It’s not all puzzle-solving in Hue, though. Danger lurks around every corner, and you’ll find yourself quickly switching between colors in a desperate bid to avert danger. Whether it’s being impaled, drowned, crushed, or lasered, you’ll need to use your full spectrum of colors to escape the cold grasp of death. Hue’s not the only one with the power to change color. You’ll quickly find yourself bouncing off color blocks, or drenching objects in colored slime. Just when you thought you were changing the world, you’ll find the world starts changing itself. This can be a blessing or a curse — things change very quickly in the world of Hue and you’ll need to stay on your toes. Even when you’re drenched in colored slime and darting between colored boulders. Quick reflexes are essential to escaping unscathed! After showcasing the game around the world, we soon discovered that some players struggled more than most — and not because of their gaming abilities. Up to 10% of people suffer from color blindness, and for them, telling colors apart could prove very challenging. After much research, testing, and seeking advice from color-blind communities, we devised a simple symbol system which we hope will make the game accessible to all. We really want as many people as possible to enjoy Hue. Hue is coming soon to PS4 and PS Vita. We really hope you enjoyed this small snapshot into the world of Hue, and that you’ll join us in the colorful adventure to come. All the best, Henry and the Fiddlesticks team View the full article
  11. Why hello there. It’s been almost a year exactly since I was last here, announcing that The Fall would be coming to PS4. So much has happened since then; I couldn’t be happier with the reception The Fall has garnered, and so today, I’m just as thrilled to announce that part two of our award-winning story, The Fall Part 2: Unbound, will be coming back to PS4 in Q1 of 2017, and already it’s looking and playing pretty sweet (If I do say so myself. Admittedly I’m a bit biased). We haven’t been spending all of this time just upping the game’s fidelity, of course. The Fall Part 2: Unbound is richer and deeper in many different ways; we’ve got a truly bizarre journey planned for ARID this time around. After the unhinging events of part 1, ARID’s very existence is threatened when she is ejected from her body and projected onto a vast global network. In a desperate attempt to save herself, ARID invades and attempts to control several other robots she finds there, each with different personalities and gameplay styles. Will ARID successfully enlist their help before it’s too late? One thing’s for certain — the process will change her. Gameplay-wise, we’re checking in with our metroidvania roots. The world of The Fall Part 2: Unbound is larger and more varied — one of the main project goals was to offer players fun perspectives that they haven’t exactly had in a game before. To that end, each character from The Fall Part 2: Unbound has a different gameplay style and story. Players will have to deal with each characters strengths and limitations. Some will focus more on combat, and some will focus on interpersonal skills. It’s our hope that by offering players an eclectic mix of behaviors, we can pave the way for some interesting ideas in our story. What kinds of ideas? Well, for example, the conversation surrounding ethics and artificial intelligence is on the mind of many; how should we build a healthy, ethically behaving AI? In our opinion, there’s a related and much more fundamental question: how does one build a healthy self — AI, human, or otherwise? What does that look like? Will ARID have the presence of mind to ask herself that question? You’ll have to wait to find out. The Fall Part 2: Unbound comes to the PS4 next year. View the full article

  13. Hi PlayStation gamers. For the next three weeks, you can earn limited-edition Loot Boxes, each containing at least one item from our brand new collection of more than 100 seasonal goodies. And you’ll also be able to challenge your friends on a futuristic soccer field in our new brawl: Lúcioball. Throughout the course of this event, Loot Boxes are sporting a brand new look, but the packaging isn’t the only thing that’s changed. Inside, players will find new cosmetic items commemorating the Summer Games, including sprays, emotes, highlight intros, player icons, and skins — even a few legendary skins. Every time you earn a Loot Box (regardless of the mode you’re playing) or purchase one during the event, you’ll receive at least one item from the Summer Games collection. These items cannot be purchased with credits, and they’re heading back into the vault on August 22. So, if you’ve got your eye on that high-diving Roadhog icon, there’s no time to lose. No Summer Games event would be complete without a display of athletic expertise, which is why we’re unveiling a brand new brawl: Lúcioball! Overwatch’s spin on soccer places you in a fast-paced, 3v3 match featuring Lúcio. Players will hit the field in Rio de Janeiro, punching, bouncing, booping, and wall-riding their way to the goal. Understanding how Lúcio’s abilities affect the ball is the key to mastering Lúcioball. For this brawl, his primary fire has been replaced with a melee attack, allowing Lúcio to punch the ball — perfect for dribbling, passing, and shooting from short range. When you need to launch the ball across the map, Lúcio’s secondary attack emits a blast of sound that gets the job done nicely. Unlike other game modes, the speed boost from Lúcio’s song only affects himself (Amp It Up will still increase that boost for Lucio, as it does normally), and Lúcio’s ultimate ability, Sound Barrier, now pulls the ball toward him. This is our very first seasonal event, but there are more on the horizon. We’re not quite ready to reveal our plans, but you can expect to see more limited-edition Loot Box items, maps, and modes in the future. Fire up Overwatch and dive in, because Summer Games is live today on PS4. We’ll see you in Rio! View the full article

  15. Abzu, the first project from new studio Giant Squid, launches Tuesday on PlayStation 4. You’d be forgiven for thinking this game looks and sounds familiar: both Matt Nava and Austin Wintory — the Art Director and Composer for Journey, respectively — are key members of Abzu’s development. In the days leading up to today’s launch, we grabbed Derek Cornish, graphics engineer on Abzu, and played through the first couple sections of the game with him. Join us as we explore an ocean of wisdom, and if you’re interested please feel free to grab the game on PlayStation Store. Enjoy! View the full article
  16. After three years of development, I am incredibly excited to announce that Abzu is available on PS4 today! Abzu is an underwater adventure that evokes the dream of scuba diving. Graceful swimming controls let you guide the Diver’s movement like a fluid ballet under the waves. You will discover hundreds of unique species based on real creatures, and interact with schools of thousands of fish that procedurally respond to you, each other, and predators. There is no air gauge to worry about so you are free to linger. Casting aside the trappings of scuba simulation is how Abzu brings focus to the real heart of diving — experiencing the majesty of the ocean and the magic of discovering a surreal new world. As you descend into the heart of the ocean on a grand and mysterious adventure, you will find yourself immersed in colorful seascapes bursting with life. You will discover sunken artifacts that give you clues to the Diver’s origin and what happened in this world. One of the most inspiring things about the ocean is the diversity of ecosystems and biomes it holds, and we put as many as we could into Abzu. You will explore swaying kelp forests, bright reefs, and deeper, darker more dangerous areas in the abyss. There are so many things we don’t understand about the ocean, and I think that we all have a place in our imaginations for what wondrous things may be down there. That surrealism was something that we also tried to capture — the game will take you to some very surprising places along your descent. One of the powerful lessons I took away from working on the games Flower and Journey was how to use the light, color, and sound of an environment to deliver an impactful narrative to the player. The ocean turned out to be the perfect setting for this kind of storytelling, as even simply adjusting the distance you can see into the murk can have a huge effect on the player’s emotional state. Through carefully crafting all the environments in Abzu, we created an emotional curve, with lows and highs, that delivers a story without the use of any dialogue. The Giant Squid team and I have gone scuba diving, whale watching, and taken several trips to aquariums to study fish behavior, kelp physics, and water dynamics. I’m excited that we were able to include a meditation mode in Abzu, where the player can take a break from the main game to directly observe the hundreds of species of fish. You will learn their names and be able to study all the detail of their movements and habits as they swim. It’s a very relaxing feature that turns the game into a beautiful virtual aquarium. The development of Abzu has been a great challenge but also an extremely rewarding endeavor for us at Giant Squid. As a new studio, creating Abzu was also the process of finding our voice as developers. The game has undergone many evolutions since its beginning, and it is both fascinating and satisfying to see the concept bloom into a real experience. I think that we have managed to create a very unique and beautiful adventure that I hope will move you. Please enjoy Abzu! View the full article

  18. Metrico+ is done! We waited a long time before posting anything on PlayStation.Blog again, because we wanted to come back with some big news: Metrico+ will launch on August 23. We made a new trailer that shows all the different worlds that you can explore in Metrico+: Metrico+ will be available for purchase at PlayStation Store on August 23 for $13.99. We also have some great news for owners of the original Metrico for PS Vita: If you own Metrico already, you can buy Metrico+ for just $6.99! (This discount also applies if you were to buy Metrico on Vita right now, as long as you do so before getting Metrico+) Because lots of players loved the original Metrico on PS Vita, we felt we should incentivize those players to try Metrico+ as well, by giving them a substantial discount. Hopefully they will try Metrico+ and experience all the new challenges it has to offer and new worlds to explore, and see the reimagined world of Metrico on their television screens. Now let’s make one thing clear: The only reason Metrico+ is not called ‘Metrico 2’ is because several puzzles of the original are still in Metrico+. However, there is so much new content and other new features in the game that we think Metrico+ is an entirely new game altogether. Reimagining Metrico for PlayStation 4 has been a lot more difficult than we anticipated. We knew it was never going to be easy since it used so many of PS Vita’s hardware features — we had to come up with entirely new game mechanics and puzzles! We also felt like we had to add a lot to the game to make it work on a big screen, and we wanted to try and get even more out of the world of Metrico. Therefore, we chose to improve Metrico a lot and added lots of new features; we made the world of Metrico look way prettier for the big screen, there are new Trophies, we added a speedrun mode, there are new and special character animations, there is an entirely new story in the game, the music has been revised by Palmbomen, and most importantly: Metrico+ contains over 40 new puzzles utilizing new gameplay mechanics. That’s why we added a “+†to the title. And as I’ve said before: I promise that even if you’ve played the original Metrico before, you will feel like you’re playing a different game when you play Metrico+. But above all: We know there are so many players that haven’t experienced the world of Metrico yet, that’s why we can’t wait to bring it to the PlayStation 4. Hopefully you like it just as much as we loved creating it! Metrico+ releases on PlayStation Store in just a few weeks. As always, feel free to ask us anything! View the full article

  20. Greetings, doods! Chris here from NIS America to give you some more exclusive information on Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness, due to launch on September 13 as both a physical and digital release for PS4 and PS Vita. For those unfamiliar with the game, check out our previous blog post back in April or visit our official website. Mandatory Happiness? The antagonist of the game, a hacker who goes by the name Alpha, is brand-new to the Psycho-Pass universe and holds a simple, innocent objective — to make people happy. However, with his naive, adolescent mindset, Alpha does not understand that one person’s happiness could equate to another person’s sorrow, suffering, or even worse. This eventually brings Alpha into heavy conflict with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) who slowly begin to learn who he is, what his capabilities are, and his over-all purpose. To make matters more complicated, Alpha seeks to help out emotionally unstable people with Crime Coefficients right below the threshold of the Dominator’s “Lethal Eliminator†mode. To them, he is their saving grace, their last resort. And all Alpha thinks is that he is only trying to save them, only trying to help them. The Cases to SolveAfter selecting either Inspector Nadeshiko Kugatachi or Enforcer Takuma Tsurugi and getting introduced to the members of the CID Division 1, your first case is given to you — a girl who has been kidnapped by a boy in Sado Marine City. The boy and girl used to be close friends before their relationship got hijacked by the girl’s mom, who pretended to be the girl and sent the boy a heart-breaking message via text. Confused and distraught, the boy’s emotions begin to spin out of control. Soon after, Alpha contacts the boy and offers to help him find the girl and achieve his happiness. Thanks to Alpha’s genius hacking abilities, the boy successfully finds the girl, but blackmails her into staying with him for a night. She hesitates, but agrees. Ultimately, the girl’s mom calls the police and reports her daughter missing after she doesn’t come home that night. Soon after, Division 1 receives information on the whereabouts of the boy and girl, and the chase begins. It is from this point, as either Kugatachi or Tsurugi, that you are entrusted to make important choices to find the suspect. It is from this point that the decisions you make could eventually lead to saving somebody’s life or pulling the trigger to end it. And… it’s hard for me to continue! Both because it’s a tad spoilery, and because your own decisions will result in different outcomes. But I can testify that when I played this chapter, I kind of freaked out. Let’s just say I made some bad choices. Free Anime Episodes!?Still haven’t seen the anime? We have some good news for you! 21. Hiya! I’m pleased to announce that Bimboosoft is bringing Rollercoaster Dreams to PS4 and PS VR on October 13. Rollercoaster Dreams is an amusement park management game. You can play in your own amusement parks, and amusement parks made by players from all over the world! The game supports PlayStation VR, so you can feel like you’re truly in the game world. As you know, you can see objects in real 3D with PlayStation VR. But the visual element isn’t the only feature of PS VR that enhances a player’s immersion. PS VR also has awesome 3D virtual surround sound. When you wear headphones you can recognize the position of sounds. I thought it would be impossible to generate sound positions with headphones, but I was surprised to learn that we recognize sound position by differences in sound timing, not the sound wave direction. The virtual surround sound enhances the realistic sensation of the amusement parks in Rollercoaster Dreams. Although you can play Rollercoaster Dreams in VR and with a regular display, I strongly recommend you play it with PlayStation VR. The feeling of entering into the world of the game is incredible. It’s a revolution in gaming, similar to when games made the leap from sprites to polygons. I’m fortunate to be involved with this revolution, and looking forward to playing other games with PlayStation VR. I hope you enjoy the virtual amusement parks in Rollercoaster Dreams! 22. We’d like to introduce you to the latest Hero for our MOBA Paragon. We call this Support Caster… The Fey. She’s an entity who channels nature’s power in Agora. Get your first look at her below, and play The Fey as part of our update on Tuesday, August 2. The TL;DR on The Fey is that she is a Support Caster (Energy Damage; Growth, Intellect) who uses nature’s power in Agora for crowd control and in-lane harassment. Her Untamed Growth ability throws out a explosive plant that does AOE damage over time. Her Bramble Patch creates a line of thorny brambles that can slow multiple Heroes. Harvest Nettles refunds mana on successful hit while her Ultimate, Fly Trap, summons a gargantuan plant that drags you in and applies serious damage. As always, all Heroes in Paragon are free, so if you’re in Early Access you’ll be able to jump in as The Fey on Tuesday. If you’re not in Early Access yet, you can pick up a Starter Pack to get into the action prior to Free Open Beta on August 16. PlayStation Plus members can even pick up a free Starter Pack through Monday, August 1. See you on the battlefield! Good luck, have fun! View the full article
  23. Load your rocket launchers and gas up your tanks, the World War Toons open beta is launching October 13 on PlayStation VR. That’s right, World War Toons is going to be a PlayStation VR launch title, and it won’t cost you a dime because it’s free to play! The Axis and Allies are pitted against each other in this cartoony multiplayer first-person shooter. Battle atop airships, under bridges, and inside windmills fighting as one of our unique and comedic classes. From the lightning quick Officer to the silent but deadly Sniper, every player will be able to make a mark in their quest to be the best. And if the enemies have you pinned down in a corner, don’t fret because with the press of a button you’ll be able to transform into a tank and turn the tide of battle. If you’re looking to add a bit of punch to your domination, why not mow down your enemies on a rideable rocket? Boom with delight as each enemy you hit gets pinned to the front. After that, drench yourself in radioactive waste and zip around the map damaging anyone around you. Want to make a memorable entrance? We’ve got a huge red bomb named Grinnade that chases your enemies down to give them a nice, big, explosive hug. World War Toons has been designed for virtual reality since day one so that you will be fully immersed in our chaotically cartoony world. But if you weren’t able to nab a PlayStation VR pre-order, don’t worry — you can still join the fight in our non-VR version absolutely free. Before we go, we want to give you more than just a nugget of World War Toons information today, so we’re cracking open the door to unveil our fourth level, Pyramid Scheme! In this capture-the-flag type match, players will face off in ancient Egypt ruins, but with a bit of World War Toons flavor seasoned in. Instead of crossing the road for a bland old flag, you’ll flock to capture the free-range Ra Chicken and race back to your base in this first-to-three match. However, you won’t be able to just wing it and score a point. Blistering lasers, rising lava pits, and scorching fireballs will turn up the heat as you and your team fly to your coop. Oh, and don’t forget about the swinging blades. If they skewer you, they’re certain to put you in a fowl mood. Chicken pun. We’ll see you October 13 as we hatch on PlayStation VR! 24. Hi everyone, Niels from WeirdBeard here. We have some exciting news! Tricky Towers will be released on PS4 August 2, and to celebrate we’ll be doing a live stream to show you all the game and answer any burning questions you might have. We’ve been quite busy over the last year both developing and showing Tricky Towers off at events around the world. We’ve had a great response from players and we really enjoy engaging with gamers and being able to talk about the game and the work that has gone into it. Livestreaming seems like a natural step for us to take, and it allows us to show you Tricky Towers and answer your questions no matter where in the world you happen to be! The livestream event will take place on August 4 at 11:00 AM Pacific. You can already register for it via Events in the PS4 menu — make sure you’ve connected your Twitch account so you’re ready to send in questions when the stream starts. For those who need a bit of a refresher — Tricky Towers is a physics-based tower building game. Using tetromino bricks you must build a tower higher, faster, and better than your opponents. You can also cast magic spells to either stabilize your own tower or sabotage those of other players. When your tower is swaying and magic spells are flying thick and fast, you’ll find yourself on the edge of your seat, cheering and jeering along with your friends! We’ve added quite a bit to Tricky Towers since our last blog post. There’s now a whole new mode called Puzzle which is all about fitting as many bricks as you can below a destructive laser line. Smart building wins over fast building in Puzzle mode, so if you’re looking for something a bit more zen then this is the mode for you. Along with that we’ve added different difficulty levels for all three modes, online and offline (local) multiplayer, a huge number of single-player trials and a single-player endless mode where you can compete with players around the globe for the top score. We’re really looking forward to releasing Tricky Towers on PS4 and letting you all in to play. See you in the live stream on August 4! View the full article
