Remember the 8-bit gaming conventions? Stories told in a 5-second intro cutscene, man-sized shurikens, enemies bumping you into bottomless pits, split-second decision making, revenge! …Ninja Senki DX is all about them. On February 23rd, Ninja Senki DX will be the third Tribute Games release on Playstation Store. However, for me it’s the game that started it all! Five years ago, before founding Tribute Games with colleague and friend Jean-François Major, I released my first indie title: the original freeware version of Ninja Senki. Making this game for myself, I wanted to create a classic 8-bit platformer focused on precise and rhythmic level design, like the ones I used to play as a kid. In my mind, it laid the foundation of Tribute Games because it crystallized the direction we would take with the company a few months later. Ninja Senki celebrates its 5th anniversary. For us at Tribute Games, it also means that we’ve been in business for nearly 5 years and therefore, celebrations are coming soon! For you, it means an updated, tightened DX version which includes a remixed soundtrack, a new challenge mode, secret game modes, Trophies, refreshed menus, and a few redrawn enemy sprites. Since the original Ninja Senki came out in 2010, fans have been asking for both a console and a portable version. It made total sense because after all, Ninja Senki plays like a console game and bears the screen resolution and graphical style of a retro portable game. So, here it is as a cross buy title! Ninja Senki DX will be playable for the first time in the comfort of your living room on PS4 or anywhere on PS Vita! Before concluding this post, I’m gonna reveal a small secret here (Spoiler Alert)! Hayate isn’t the only playable character anymore! Another warrior seeks the demise of the Ninja Demon. His name is Musashi. Who is he? How do we unlock him? Dedicated players will find out. Grab your shurikens and go get your revenge! View the full article

Friday the 13th will be a very big day for Doom fans — along with all of us at id Software. Today we announced Doom will be available worldwide on May 13th, including our collector’s edition featuring one of my favorite Demons, the Revenant. Which had a few of you asking: why that Demon in particular? While I love all the iconic hellspawn in our game, the Revenant is one of my favorites because he represents everything that Doom’s about. He’s got tons of personality. He’s fierce and relentless. He’s high-energy. And he’s just fun to look at. I mean, what’s not to love about a screaming, bloody, possessed corpse with two high-powered missile launchers strapped to his shoulders? Like I said: pure Doom. That’s why the Revenant isn’t just featured on the game box but also comes to life in our collector’s edition as a 12-inch-tall statue made from high-quality PVC. As you can see in the photo, the statue looks amazing! While I can’t wait to display mine on my desk, I was even more excited by the team’s reaction to this real-life Revenant. So many people at id Software contributed to the final design of this character, including artists, designers, and animators. And everyone was thrilled with the results. When designing all the demons in Doom, we took our time to make sure they captured the essence of the original, but still felt fresh and modern. That’s why we kept the core visual elements of the original character in place: the skeletal body, the bloody torso, the cyber vest with shoulder mounted rockets… and a bloody screaming head on top. The personality of these characters is what’s most important to us at id. We try to enhance whatever was already there, then bring it to life through the effort of our art, animation, and design teams. We also developed a backstory for each demon in the game to help inform all our design choices. You can see elements of this lore all over the Revenant’s body — visual cues that help indicate he’s part of some mad UAC cult experiment gone wrong. We had to get the expression on his face just right to convey the “possessed maniac on the loose†look we were going for. We ended up removing the eyelids and pupils completely, and turned up the corners of his mouth to give him a slight grin. He looks like he loves his work! We also used Harrier jets as inspiration for the design of the jet pack he wears. The slightly retro styling and bulkiness of the harness contrasts nicely with his skinned-alive emaciated body and head. Finally, we fully embraced the “heavy metal†nature of the Revenant. That’s why he looks like a lunatic, with his rocket vest doubling as straightjacket! When you encounter a Revenant in Doom, you’ll need to stay on your toes. We like to think of each of our demons — especially a heavy like the Revenant — as a unique chess piece that, when introduced, adds a new dimension to the combat puzzle. For me he’s always a high-priority target. I like to get him to hold still with a well-placed stun shot from the Plasma Rifle. (You need to mod the Plasma Rifle to add a stun effect… so if you’re like me, you’ll invest in this mod early on.) I take advantage of the small window the stun shot provides me and I switch to either the Gauss Rifle with the Siege Mode Mod or the Chaingun with the Mobile Turret Mod and take him out fast. To pull this off effectively, you need to have mastered the art of quick-switching to stagger an enemy with one weapon and finish them off with another. Weapon switching is a big part of our game — so the better you get at it, the faster you’ll play. The Revenant is only one of the many Demons you encounter as you fight your way across the Martian landscape and into the fiery depths of Hell itself. Doom is a fast-paced, relentless shooter with a full single-player campaign, and soon we will be talking more about its competitive multiplayer, and our built-from-the-ground-up editor, SnapMap, which allows players to create, share, and play new content. Prepare for this May when you step into the armor of the lone Doom Marine and fight like Hell to save the world from a demonic invasion. View the full article

I have no idea how we managed to keep it a secret until now, but Bit.Trip Presents… Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien is making its way to PS4 on February 23rd. With The Bit.Trip collection having also just been released, this means that all entries in the Bit.Trip series are finally available on PS4 and PS Vita! Runner2 is the sequel to 2010’s Bit.Trip Runner. It takes the auto-running, rhythm-platformer gameplay of the first game and introduces it to a surreal, fantastical world. And when I say “surreal,†I really mean it. You can play as a drunk pickle and a guy with a cheeseburger for a head. These are the kinds of things you can get away with in the world of video games. Those of you who already own Runner2 on PS Vita will be pleased to hear that the PS4 version is going to be cross buy, meaning you get it free of charge. And for those who will be picking it up for the first time, you’ll be able to do so for $9.99. The good news doesn’t stop there, however, because the Good Friends Character Pack DLC is also making its way to PS4, and it’s going to be completely free! We will also be making the DLC free on PS Vita starting February 23rd, so you may want to go ahead and hold off on picking it up until then. For those unfamiliar with the Good Friends Character Pack, it allows you to play Runner2 as one of several beloved game characters. The full roster includes Raz (Psychonauts), Quote (Cave Story), Dr. Fetus (Super Meat Boy), Josef (Machinarium), Spelunky Guy (Spelunky) and Invisible CommanderVideo. It’s a piece of DLC we’re really proud of, and we’re excited to be lowering the barriers to entry for everyone! People have been asking us if Runner2 would be coming to PS4 since before the console even hit the market, and more often than not we’d respond to these requests with something cheeky like “never say never!†Thank you for tolerating our aforementioned cheekiness, and we hope you think the game was worth the wait! If you have any questions about the game (or about anything, really), let us know in the comments and we’ll be sure to respond. View the full article

To commemorate Uncharted 4‘s April 26th release date, we’re rolling out the red — er, blue — carpet with a special Limited Edition Uncharted 4 PlayStation 4 Bundle. Unlike Nathan Drake, you don’t need to trek through Madagascar to find this treasure. Just pick one up in the U.S. and Canada on April 26th for $399.99 USD / $499.99 CAD. Pre-orders start later today. This bundle includes a Limited Edition 500GB PS4 in Gray Blue featuring a silk-screened image of Nathan Drake, as well as a matching DualShock 4 and a copy of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End on Blu-ray. The limited edition PS4 also features the PlayStation logo, Uncharted logo, and the phrase “SIC PARVIS MAGNA†in gold. “SIC PARVIS MAGNA†is Latin for “Greatness from small beginnings†and is the same phrase engraved on Drake’s ring. As a bonus, if you pre-order the Limited Edition Uncharted 4 PS4 Bundle, you’ll receive a voucher for an Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune Outfit, Golden Weapon Skin, and Uncharted Points to use in Multiplayer Mode. We’ll also sell the Gray Blue DualShock 4 separately in early March, ahead of the release of the bundle, for $64.99 USD / $89.99 CAD. Lastly, a limited edition Gray Blue version of the Gold Wireless Headset will be available in early March for $99.99 USD / $119.99 CAD. This limited edition headset, which is the perfect companion for Uncharted 4 Multiplayer, features the same gray blue color as the PS4 included in the bundle, as well as the PlayStation logo and “SIC PARVIS MAGNA†in gold. A custom Uncharted 4 audio mode tuned specifically for PlayStation headsets by Naughty Dog will be available via the Headset Companion App when Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End launches on April 26th. The launch of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is almost upon us and honestly, I couldn’t be more excited. Let us know what you think of the limited edition PS4 and peripherals! View the full article

When my manager told me I had to put down Disgaea 5 to start looking into some new tactical RPG called Grand Kingdom, I told him “No.†Turns out that doesn’t fly (Who knew?). I sidled over to our localization team and asked for a build of this game on PS4 and PS Vita, and you know what? I haven’t put it down since. Seriously, this game is legit, and it will be out June 21 of this year. Sharpen your pencils, boys and girls, war is coming! One Man’s VisionThe game’s name didn’t really click for me until I saw that it was directed by Tomohiko Deguchi, the director of Grand Knights History — a title that sadly never saw the Western shore. Some of you might better recognize him from an earlier game that he worked on: Muramasa: The Demon Blade. Mr. Deguchi has taken all the things he learned from those games and put them together into this grand tale. You’ll be traversing the continent of Resonail as the leader of a mercenary group. Along the way, you’ll discover the complex history behind the fall of the Uldein Empire, hire new members to build up your mercenary crew, and spend time fighting under contract for each of four unique countries using an interesting team-building and tactical combat system. Tactical TriumphNow, I’m a sucker for pretty much any RPG where I get to train characters and gather cool equipment, but the tactical combat system of Grand Kingdom makes it stand out from the rest. You’ll be fighting on lane-based 2D levels where each unit acts in turn, but their turns play out as real-time movement limited by an Action Gauge similar to Valkyria Chronicles. Since each mercenary has their own character class which defines their base stats and the type of attacks they can use, you’ll need to be careful not only about how you use your mercenaries, but also about which mercenaries you pair together. (Hint: a team of all Gunners doesn’t fare so well…) Each class has their own special skills that are pretty awesome to see. For example, the Dragon Mage’s spells and her fierce-looking dragon’s fiery breath make full use of the game’s gorgeous art and fluid animations to deliver the wild thrill of a screen-filling attack and the smug satisfaction of a perfectly executed tactical decision. A True Work of ArtI mean, seriously. I am abso-positively in love with this game’s art. We were so excited about the art that one of our designers decided we just had to make a limited edition for Grand Kingdom. He went all-out and compiled a brand-new 128-page art book chock-full of everything from final character art to production sketches and notes. Beyond the amazing art book, we’re stuffing a bunch of other goodies into the Limited Edition, so make sure you get all the info on our official site, or check with your favorite retailer. There’s a lot of meat to this game, so we have a lot more information yet to share in the months leading up to the June 21st launch — most of which you’ll be able to read right here on PS Blog as we announce it. We’ll also be constantly updating our official game website as new things come out, so make sure you head on over there to sign up for our newsletter and snag yourself a free wallpaper! Thanks for reading, and let me hear the hype, doods! I’ll be around to answer what questions I can in the comments below! View the full article

Let’s recap for a second. So far, we’ve introduced you to 18 of the 25 playable heroes in Battleborn at launch: axe-wielding dwarves, mountain men with miniguns, sentient mushrooms, laser sword space vampires… oh, yeah, and a penguin-piloting a mech suit — all fighting to save the last star in the universe. Today, we’re introducing you to two more Battleborn heroes: Attikus and Galilea. If you’ve ever wanted to play as hulking monsters on the battlefield (in more ways than one) we’ve got your new mains right here. Learn how you can get the most out of them, whether you’re playing solo, splitscreen, or 5-player co-op in Story Mode, or teaming up with buddies in the three unique competitive multiplayer modes. ATTIKUSSlave. Laborer. Greatest warrior among the Jennerit underclass — the Thralls. All his life, Attikus has been told what to do, shoved into the deepest mines of Tempest, and kept down. Thanks to an experimental biotech harness, this already-imposing brute was given the one thing the Jennerit didn’t expect: intelligence. The only thing more dangerous than a huge, imposing beast with an axe to grind against his oppressors… is a smart imposing beast with an axe to grind against his oppressors. Main Attacks Barefisted Brawling (R2): while his normal fist would just as easily knock you out, watch out for when his abilities are fully charged. You’ll be seeing stars as his enhanced hand delivers a burst of shield-draining damage. Charged Hook (L2): Hold back for a couple seconds and Attikus’ high-octane haymaker delivers a world of pain. To your face. Abilities Pounce (L1): Just because this beast is huge doesn’t mean it can’t move. Attikus can leap to a target location and knock foes back. Hedronic Arc (R1): That metal arm grafted to Attikus’ body? He uses it to shock enemies when they come in for a closer look. Hedronic Eruption (Triangle): Attikus’ ultimate ability hurls shockwaves of energy to clear enemies out of his path. Hedronic Collector: A fringe benefit of the biotech harness — his passive ability can syphon energy from killed enemies. Once enough energy gets collected, he can pay it forward, juicing up the next skill he uses and making it even more powerful. The best tactic for fighting against Attikus: keep your distance. Stun, slow, or shoot at Attikus — just keep him out of arm’s reach! GALILEA, THE WRAITH OF BLISSA sacred order within the Eldrid, the Arbiters of Being were charged with undermining the Jennerit Empire’s technology, and Galilea was its most promising warrior. Entrusting her with a long undercover mission, Galilea was embedded within the Jennerit and worked her way through the recruits of the Silent Sisters. During an attempt to sabotage their Sustainment technology, Ambra discovered and attacked Galilea, mortally wounding her. Once a close friend, Ambra attempted to use Sustainment to save Galilea’s life but it was only partially successful. Now unstable, immortal, and reeking of life-draining dark energy, Galilea is at war with herself and her new powers as she hopes to find a new purpose among the Peacekeepers. Main Attacks Wraith’s Greatsword (R2): she may be a fallen holy warrior of the Eldrid, but Galilea is still incredibly handy and swift in close combat. Sentinel’s Greatshield (L2): when Galilea is ready to wade deep into combat and stare her enemy in the eye, nothing’s better than a shield for deflecting blows and defending allies. Abilities Shield Throw (L1): that shield Galilea wields can do a lot more than simply absorb damage — give it a toss and share the pain! And, no, she has nothing to do with a certain someone that rhymes with Shnaptain Shamerica. Desecrate (R1): always ready for a sword fight, she curses the ground beneath enemies to amplify damage against them. Abyssal Form (Triangle): Take personal time-out with this ability. Galilea’s ultimate ability explodes into dark energy allowing her to take a break from the action or run for cover. During that time, she takes reduced damage and regenerates a huge chunk of her health. Corruption: the more that she connects blows and uses skills, Galilea’s Corruption grows. Once charged, she begins projecting a passive aura that drains the health of nearby enemies. The best tactic for fighting against Galilea: keep your distance, attack from behind where she can’t block with her shield, and keep her on the move so she can’t bunker down with Desecrate and Corruption. Battleborn’s Open Beta UpdateKeep your swords sharp and your spells primed, Battleborn’s Open Beta is coming later this year on PS4. And don’t forget: PS4 players get early access during the upcoming Open Beta, and as a special thank you to all those PS4 players who participate in the Open Beta, you will receive a bonus 26th Battleborn hero after the game launches on May 3rd, 2016. To qualify for and redeem the bonus reward, PS4 players must log in to their purchased version of Battleborn using the same Shift account they played with during the Open Beta. You can pre-order Battleborn now on PlayStation Store! View the full article

Hey there, PlayStation Nation! Nayan here again from Playism. We’ve been releasing plenty of games on PS4 up until now, but we’re not done yet! We’ve got a real heater coming, and it’s one of my personal favorites. Welcome to the world of Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae. We know full well that Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae is a mouthful to say, but we wanted to maintain that authentic samurai feel for this game. Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae is the story of a demonic sword, and the young warrior who stole it for her own ends. Hot on her heels is our main character, and her best friend. Once friends, but now forced to fight each other, players will cut their way through arenas filled with monsters, robots, and thugs in need of a good slicing. While Mitsurugi uses a combo system similar to character action games you might have played in the past, it employs a unique combo finishing system inspired by classic samurai movies and anime. Once a player has inflicted damage upon their foes in a single combo, simply sheathing their sword will cause enemy wounds to open and spew blood, causing additional damage and often times, death. In addition to this unique combo finishing system, players will be able to learn a wealth of awesome abilities during the course of their game, including devastating dive kicks, lightning fast sword combos, and incredible counters. Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae originally released on PC, but it’s a controller-based character action game at heart and destined to hit PS4. That’s why we’re so excited to finally put it in PlayStation gamers hands on February 16th, 2015. The game will be a digital purchase on PlayStation Store, and will be available for $11.99. There is a world beyond yours, where economics and luxury collide with violence and power. Welcome to a world of assassination, a dangerous place of hidden violence where secret deals and bloody murder decides who holds power. It is a world where agencies such as the ICA work in the shadows to bring balance to the power struggle. The world of assassination is an expression of the ongoing game world we have built over the last 15 years at Io-Interactive since the release of the very first Hitman game. It is the setting for past, present, and future Hitman games. Episodic Storytelling and NarrativeHitman will launch on March 11th as a truly episodic game experience with a major live component. The episodic nature of Hitman allows us to craft both individual stories centred on Agent 47’s targets as well as longer season stories involving 47, Diana Burnwood, the ICA, and an entirely new main cast. The structure is inspired by contemporary TV series’ and will unfold over multiple seasons. To begin with, the overall story and the individual mission stories run in parallel but as the first season progresses, the tracks will merge and become one. Before That, the BetaThe Hitman Beta will be available first on PS4 starting February 12th. You can guarantee your access right now by pre-ordering either the Full Experience or Intro Pack via PlayStation Store. The Hitman Collector’s Edition will also include access to the beta, and full details on that are up on the dedicated CE page. Whichever version you choose to pre-order, you’ll also get the Blood Money Requiem Pack. As well as being the first to play the Beta, PS4 players will also get exclusive access to The Sarejevo Six. These are six bonus contracts that tell a self-contained side-story revolving around former members of a paramilitary unit called CICADA. Agent 47 will travel the world in pursuit of his targets, with one contract available in each location from the game. The first PS4 exclusive contract will be available when the game launches on March 11th. We’re calling it “The Director.†Your target is Scott Sarno, Director of European Operations for the CICADA private military corporation. He is a thirty-year veteran of clandestine operations and has been linked to a number of questionable operations in Europe and the Middle East as far back as the mid-nineties. He is highly trained and incredibly observant, you should expect him to be accompanied by several CICADA agents at all times. We’ll see you on February 12th for the Hitman Beta! View the full article

Today’s the day! PS4 owners get first dibs on the first DLC pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Awakening, launching today on PlayStation Store, delivers four new epic multiplayer maps in addition to an all-new Zombies experience. To celebrate the occasion, we wanted to create a definitive launch-day resource. Read on for the full details, and see you on the field. DLC BASICSWhat’s included with the Awakening DLC? Awakening delivers four new multiplayer maps in addition to an all-new Zombies adventure called Der Eisendrache. Which platforms will the Awakening DLC be available on? Awakening will be available on PS4 starting February 2nd, 2016 in North America. It will not be available on PS3. The Awakening DLC may not be available in all territories and pricing and release dates may vary. How do I access the Awakening DLC? Awakening will be available for download on PlayStation Store starting February 2nd, 2016 for $14.99. You can also choose to purchase the Black Ops 3 Season Pass to gain access to all four DLC Map Packs planned for the year, including Awakening, as part of a discounted bundle offered at the suggested retail price of $49.99. Will I get Awakening if I purchased the Black Ops 3 Season Pass? Yes, Awakening is included in the Season Pass. If you purchased the DLC Season Pass for Black Ops 3, do not purchase Awakening as a standalone DLC Map Pack — you will be charged separately for it. The content is available as a free download to Season Pass owners from within the Black Ops 3 in-game Store. DLC CONTENTWhat can you share about the new competitive multiplayer maps? The four new maps featured in Awakening inject new variety in the Black Ops 3 multiplayer experience that will challenge and delight players of all levels. Gauntlet delivers three unique environments within one action-packed map. Showcasing Treyarch’s classic three-lane map structure, the map transports players into battle through a sprawling jungle, sub-zero arctic zone, and rainy urban cityscape. Splash is set in an abandoned water park that includes dynamic environmental features such as waterslides, a wrecked pirate ship, and a lazy river. This map encourages an open flow of combat and allows for plenty of opportunities for underwater gameplay. Rise is set in the snowy outskirts of Zurich, smack-dab in the middle of a construction site for a massive subterranean Coalescence research campus. This larger map features multiple engagement areas, with each section catering to different play styles. Skyjacked soars high above urban Zurich in a re-imagined, modernized take on the popular Black Ops 2 multiplayer map Hijacked. Thanks to the new core movement system featured in Black Ops 3, this map gives players new ways to explore the environment while retaining the fast and frenetic gameplay that made Hijacked a fan favorite. What can you share about Awakening’s new Zombies experience? Black Ops 3’s Zombies DLC adventure begins with Der Eisendrache (“The Iron Dragonâ€). Set in a chilling medieval Austrian castle during World War II, Der Eisendrache picks up where The Giant left off and continues to follow the classic cast of characters: Richtofen, Nikolai, Takeo, and Dempsey. The ancient site on which the castle sits was the scene of unspeakable horror where massive deposits of Element 115 have recently been discovered. Will Der Eisendrache introduce any new weapons or gameplay mechanics? There will be elements of low-gravity, an ancient bow that can be upgraded through mystical quests, and new ways to transport yourself around the map. OTHER QUESTIONSWhen will the next Black Ops 3 DLC be available? We have no details to report at this time. Please continue to monitor callofduty.com and PlayStation.Blog for updates. From PS Vita to PS3, the Neptunia series has transformed every dimension on the way, but what’s new and improved about the series’ next installment: Megadimension Neptunia VII? Well, luckily you’re on air with “Iffy’s Nepstation,†straight from Idea Factory International! I’m Ari, your host/blogger and today I’ve put together a list of 7 reasons players are going to love Megadimension Neptunia VII — which is out today on PS4! I. Neps in HDD and in HD! Need I say more? It’s the first Neptunia game on PS4! From SP skills to each of Nep’s signature victory poses, the game flows in smooth 1080p! II. NEXT Forms NEXT forms are the third installment in this series’ signature feature: cute transforming heroines. These are the coolest (and strongest) transformations yet in the whole Neptunia franchise. The NEXT forms come packed with elaborate SP skill animations and amazing transformation sequences, and each goddess’ transformation is directly inspired by the nation they protect. I mean, just how cool is wearing a Mario-esque hat with wings or an HMD while you hack n’ slash through dogoos?! III. Even more ways to “Nep†Up the Baddies New additions to the battle system like “Giant Battles,†“Parts Break,†and “Formation Skills†add extra strategy and action to the classic Neptunia turn-based battle system! Giant Battles take players to a whole other realm to duke it out with larger-than-life bosses, and Parts Break allows players to seal certain enemy parts so their attacks can be disabled. When placement matters and when damage is solely relayed through SP Skills, EXE drives, and cooperative attacks, Megadimension Neptunia VII transforms the Neptunia series into more moe and battle than before! IV. Neplunker Neptunia is known for its game references and allusions to pop culture, but this time they’ve taken mini-games to the next level! “Neplunker†is a mini-game, completely separate from the main game, with elements of the classic “Spelunker,†and just as it sounds, the Neps must venture through the Neplunker dungeon to win special items! V. Uzume & Umio In good ol’ Neptunia fashion, the down-to-earth Uzume kicks butt in her HDD transformation, Orange Heart, alongside her fish-face sidekick-in-crime, Umio! And that’s reason enough for me to love this surf n’ turf duo. I should mention, Uzume’s weapon is a megaphone and it doesn’t get cooler than that. This allows her range to fan out before her, and she can definitely wham more enemies that way! Meanwhile, Umio is just dandy. VI. Gold Third In the game they’re known as the “New Rulers of Gamindustri†and play a huge role in the second part of the game, Hyper Dimension. But for me, these girls look as fun as they are to play because all of their attack combos and skills are a reference to popular Japanese game series and developers. They’re every bit of eye-patched-jetpack-wearing-sword-slaying goodness you ever needed! I mean, just look at them! VII. Stories, Worlds, and Good Things Come in Three Speaking of Gold Third, the story is broken up into three parts: Zero Dimension, Hyper Dimension, and Heart Dimension. Each world has its own Nepic plot and focus with new characters like Uzume and Umio. It really takes the Neptunia series’ storytelling to the next level! There’s even separate endings you can achieve… so I’d save often if I were you. So there you have it! Seven awesome reasons to check out Megadimension Neptunia VII. Get the game today on PS4 Be prepared: there’s even more nonsensical dialogue, more item customization, and tons of battle strategies waiting to Nep you up, all packed into one game. And as something to look forward to, I give you… Umio wearing an Umio eyemask (my favorite DLC item)! Expect more awesome DLC like this (e.g. Playable Umio, playable Nepgya, and Trillion: God of Destruction costumes), set to release weekly in the next few months to come. Lastly, cut to the trailer! Thanks for reading my maiden blog and let’s chat in the comments below! View the full article

Because Saints Row IV and Saints Row: The Third both landed in the Top 10 most played games on the service in 2015 (see below), it’s only fitting that more Deep Silver titles like Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell should find their way into the PlayStation Now subscription catalog this month! Your PS Now subscription gives you access to a host of Deep Silver games — some added today. Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell (New) After the antics of Saints Row IV, many fans asked what they could do next. The answer? Shoot the Devil in the face. Play as either Johnny Gat or Kinzie as you tear apart Hell in a quest to save the Boss’ soul. Historical icons, old friends, older enemies, a talking gun, a full length musical number, and a whole lot of other shenanigans all await you in this open-world, standalone expansion playground. Saints Row IV The epic conclusion to the game that changed all the rules! The Saints have gone from the crack house to the White House — but the Earth has been invaded and it’s up to you to free the world from Overlord Zinyak and his alien empire. With homies new and old by your side, and an arsenal of superpowers and strange weapons, you must save the world in the wildest open world game ever! Saints Row The Third Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks, and Johnny Gat bobble head dolls all available at a store near you. The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute. Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to a new city. Saints Row 2 Fifteen years have passed since your former Saints crew betrayed you. As you awake from a coma, you find the Stilwater you once ruled is in disarray. Unfamiliar gangs have laid claim to your territory, rival factions have taken over your rackets, and cash-hungry corporations have laid waste to your once proud 3rd Street home. Now is the time to seek revenge against rivals to reestablish your crew as the rightful kings of Stilwater. Escape Dead Island (New) Escape Dead Island is a Survival-Mystery adventure that follows Cliff Calo, who sets sail to document the unexplained events on Banoi. Arriving on the island of Narapela, he finds that not everything is as it seems. This title lets players delve into the Dead Island universe and unravel the origins of the zombie outbreak. Escape is just the beginning. Dead Island Riptide Dead Island Riptide takes players to the island of Palanai on the Banoi archipelago, infested with bloodthirsty Zombies and only a few remaining Survivors still fighting for their lives. Introducing new terrifying enemies, deadly weapons, a new playable character, and much more, Dead Island Riptide will draw players back into a world that has grown corrupt — with the last rays of hope vanishing in rising tides. Dead Island Terror. Violence. Madness. Bedlam. A holiday paradise gone mad. A tropical island turns into total chaos after a mysterious zombie outbreak. Cut off from the rest of the world, the player’s only chance to survive is to fight to the death and find a way to escape from the island. Metro: Last Light (New) A gripping, story-driven first person shooter, Metro: Last Light is the sequel to 2010’s critically acclaimed cult classic Metro 2033. Explore the post-apocalyptic world of the Moscow Metro, one of the most immersive, atmospheric game worlds ever created. Fight for every bullet and every last breath in a claustrophobic blend of survival horror and FPS gameplay. Narco Terror (New) Dishing out justice, one grenade at a time! Narco Terror combines the good of the old and the amazing of the new in an action-packed twin-stick shooter about an over-the-top one-man war against a drug cartel. In true arcade-style, it is filled with unlimited ammo, ear-splitting grenades, huge explosions, massive tanks, armed helicopters, and fast planes. Risen 3 Titan Lords (New) Explore a world abandoned by the gods and full of enemies and dangers. Robbed of your soul, you’ll need powerful allies to rise up against the rampaging titans. Decide on one of the three legendary factions to help you on your quest, but choose your path carefully as your actions will have consequences! Sacred Citadel (New) The once peaceful land of Ancaria is in grave danger. The evil Ashen empire has enslaved its population and is using the orc-like Grimmoc to wipe out the Seraphim, who swore to protect it. In order to defeat the empire you will have to prove yourself as a warrior by riding terrifying mounts, acquiring earth-shattering skills, and looting powerful weapons. Sacred 3 (New) Sacred 3 is an arcade hack ‘n’ slash game set in the war for Ancaria. Choose from legendary heroes and fight against the rise of evil. You will face hordes of grimmocs, brute beasts, legions of mercenaries, and undead wizards. Hello again, Gravity Rush fans! The wait is finally over — Gravity Rush Remastered launches today on PS4! Grab the digital version on PlayStation Store or a physical copy from Amazon. In addition, for the first time in franchise history, we’re releasing the Gravity Rush soundtrack today on PlayStation Store! The Gravity Rush Remastered Original Soundtrack on PS4 contains all 47 tracks from the original game (total running time 1 hour and 49 minutes) beautifully crafted by legendary composer Kohei Tanaka. Fans will also be able to view a unique slideshow of game visuals as they listen to the score in both stereo and surround sound formats. The ability to export all tracks as stereo MP3s (via a compatible USB device) is included. The soundtrack is available starting today as a standalone product for $11.99. To commemorate today’s launch, we received a special message from the game’s director, Toyama-san: I’m so excited that fans around the world will finally be able to experience Kat’s adventures on the big screen! When I was young I was raised on a variety of games, comics, and animation. Gravity Rush Remastered is filled to the brim with that old fashioned flair that Japanese entertainment is known for. So just like me when I was younger rummaging through comics, I hope you enjoy diving completely into this mysterious world! Thank you for supporting Gravity Rush Remastered! On behalf of all of us involved with the Gravity Rush series, thank you very much for all of your patience, kind messages, and support for Gravity Rush Remastered. We hope you enjoy Kat’s adventures in Hekseville on PS4, and we sincerely look forward to sharing more about the Gravity Rush franchise soon. View the full article

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away… TT Games began one of the most epic journeys of all time with the first LEGO Star Wars game in 2005. Now, 11 years later, we’re finally able to reveal that we’ve been working on LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens! LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens | PlayStation.com It’s a massive honor to be able to work on a game tied to the incredible Star Wars universe; there are a lot of people at TT Games who hold Star Wars close to their hearts with it being the starting point for the LEGO games — myself included. We’ve covered the Original Trilogy (LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy), Prequel Trilogy (LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game) and The Clone Wars (LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars) in great detail before, but now we get to jump ahead to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which brings a whole host of incredible new locations, characters, Droids, and vehicles. Have a look at our awesome announce trailer above… perhaps it might look a bit familiar to you! One of the most amazing parts of all of this is being able to work with Lucasfilm to create new game content with the characters and locations from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, told in a way that only LEGO Star Wars can. Through a strong collaboration with Lucasfilm, we’ve been able to create new stories and adventures connecting the Star Wars narrative, both before and tying into the movie. As such huge fans of the franchise, it’s a tremendous honor to have that privilege. As part of this, we’re pleased to share that PS4 and PS3 players will have access to exclusive downloadable content in the form of a Droid Character Pack and Phantom Limb Level Pack. We can’t go into too much detail right now, but we can’t wait for people to experience the content from the film, as well as new stories in Star Wars: The Force Awakens! Everyone at TT Games is looking forward to revealing more of LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens over the coming months. In the meantime — May the Force be with you! View the full article

Hi, I’m Paul Coleman. I’m the Chief Games Designer on Dirt Rally and I’m also a rally co driver when I’m not making games. Dirt Rally is a labor of love for me and the development team — and our passionate community has been very vocal in their requests for us to bring the game to PS4. So I’m incredibly excited that we’re bringing Dirt Rally to PS4 in April, and you can all start setting those leaderboard-topping stage times. For starters, let’s cover 10 things you probably didn’t know about Dirt Rally. We record the co driver calls live in a D-Box motion seat while the stage is being driven. This maximizes the sense of speed and impact in the co driver’s voice. We even use a Stilo crash helmet and intercom system to make sure that the recording sounds as authentic as possible. Our level design team have had their fair share of adventures while away on their research trips. They’ve trodden on tarantula nests, been bitten by hornets, and have even been chased by angry Finnish farmers brandishing pitch forks. Our vehicle artists go into so much detail when they are modelling the vehicle interiors that they even capture the hand and finger prints that are left there by the vehicle owners. We have a selection of special Daily Events that reference things we teased on social media prior to launch. Keep an eye out for the #ThrowbackThursday event… The WWGFD? Trophy is actually a reference to one of our Community Members called Greg Flinchbaugh. When we were in the early stages of developing Dirt Rally, Greg posted an awesome response when we asked “What do you like best about rally?†From that point onwards we always asked ourselves — What would Greg Flinchbaugh do? Watch out for local wildlife crossing the road on some stages. You can see a fox in Wales, a squirrel in Finland, and a moose in Sweden. Neil Cole who does the voiceover for the Rallycross spotter is actually one of the presenters of the FIA World Rallycross broadcast. He spends most of the race weekend in the spotters tower doing post race interviews. The driver model in the game is actually Jon Tucker who worked with us as our vehicle handling consultant during the development of Dirt Rally. The co driver model is based on me because I also voice the co driver calls in game. One of the working titles for Dirt Rally was Dirt Pulse. If you look closely you’ll find a queue for one of the toilets in the Sweet Lamb Fan Zone in Wales. We do love queuing in Britain. View the full article

By popular demand, Vote to Play is back and the voting begins on February 9th! The candidates include Action Henk!, Assault Android Cactus, and Broforce. The game that secures the most votes will be added to the March monthly games lineup for PlayStation Plus members. Action Henk!Publisher Curve Digital and developer RageSquid have put together a light-hearted racer where you run, jump, and — yes — butt-slide your way through a host of toy room environments with past-their-prime action figures. It’s a game where timing and momentum are key as you attempt to outdo your opponents as well as your own past performance. How can you not love a game with the tagline “Butt-slide to victory?†Assault Android CactusWhile the mechanics of this twin stick shooter will be familiar to many, developer Witch Beam has created a unique battery mechanic (in lieu of lives), providing a fresh experience that helps Assault Android Cactus stand out from the crowd. This one also supports Shareplay, a “virtual couch†that lets a friend join your game for up to an hour at a time, creating an online local co-op experience. According to designer Sanatana Mishra, the goal with Assault Android Cactus was to make a game that he and the rest of the team wanted to play. BroforceWhile we didn’t know it at the time, Broforce is the game that we always wanted as we cheered beloved 80’s-era action heroes on to victory. Publisher Devolver and developer Free Lives have teamed up to deliver part irreverent spoof and part loving homage to what are now classic movies and classic games. With its online co-op experience and over-the-top presentation, there’s a really great game here that deserves the heaps of praise it’s already received. The thread that brings these three games together: fun titles that can connect the Plus community to play together with friends. For me, personally, one of the sweet spots in game design is a title that provides casual fun for almost anyone who picks up the controller, while providing a depth of mastery for those who want to push the game’s mechanics to their limits. We hope that you’ll enjoy learning about each game and the developers behind them before casting your vote. Starting February 9th, if you’re a PlayStation Plus member and you want to cast your vote, simply log into your PS4 with your PSN account and access Vote to Play under the dedicated PlayStation Plus section on the top left corner of your PS4 home screen. You can also go to What’s New or visit the PlayStation Plus section of the PlayStation Store, where you’ll find details for Vote to Play. We look forward to seeing your votes! View the full article

Since the reveal of our first playable demo of The King of Fighters XIV at PlayStation Experience 2015, we know a lot of fans have been starving for more content. In line with the recent Taipei Game Show, the dev team is pleased to detail our latest character reveals! I’m happy to let the PlayStation Nation know that fan favorite characters K’, Benimaru Nikaido, and Robert Garcia will be returning to the ring in King of Fighters XIV’s massive roster of 50 characters. Benimaru NikaidoFirst debuting as an original King of Fighters character in ’94’s Japan Team, along with his distinct hairstyle, Benimaru “The Shooting Star†Nikaido is known to be one of the most flamboyant characters in the KOF Universe. His lightning powers will make him a formidable opponent against any rival! Robert GarciaA classic Art of Fighting Team member, this memorable latin lover of powerful kicks returns to KOF once again! A suave practitioner of Kyokugen-ryu Karate (and Osaka-dialect, hehe), his lavish style is sure to attract many players. K’ (kei-dash)Protagonist of the “NESTS Saga†(KOF ’99~2001), this dark hero is widely regarded as one of the coolest, most popular characters in the KOF Series. Along with Kula Diamond, be sure to watch out for their fire and ice! Creator’s Comment — Lead Game Designer, Yuji Watanabe: For the latest three characters we’ve announced, the team has been adding some brand new Special Moves and bringing back some of the classic ones as well! Please look forward to a finely-crafted move list later this year. Although the dev team is buckled down, currently working hard to provide a new installment both fans and new players will be very satisfied with, please be sure to let us know what future events and venues you would like to see King of Fighters XIV playable at throughout 2016! I’m sorry I cannot reveal more exciting information at this time, but please look forward to more King of Fighters XIV character announcements in the near future! View the full article

Grab your gym shorts and hang onto your headbands! Our hard-hitting sports brawler Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure is coming to PlayStation 4! Stikbold is a quirky, over-the-top action sports game described best as a mix of dodgeball and a fighting game. Make use of everything from dodgeballs to jellyfish in order to eliminate your competitors as you duke it out against friends and family on a variety of unlikely courts. Or, team up with your best friend, favorite relative, or even the A.I., and venture out on an exciting co-op adventure in the charming story campaign. Fight your way through hippies, whales, skeletons, and more as you set out on a selfless rescue mission to save the rival team and win back the championship trophy! The original concept for the game came about during Nordic Game Jam. We were five eager game design students from IT-University in Copenhagen and we joined forces around the strange experiment that eventually became Stikbold!. Stikbold! received the “most fun†award and came in 3rd overall. This encouraged us to continue work on the game, with the goal of turning it into a full-blown console release. To pursue our dreams we formed a company and began a long and exciting journey! Stikbold is actually the name of a Scandinavian folk game often played in schoolyards and at playgrounds during recess or Physical Education. Like most folk games, Stikbold has a ton of variations and abbreviations, but is always a type of tag played by chugging balls after each other. Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure is a very loose interpretation of its folk game counterpart. Mainly we have focused on cultivating the foundations of folk/playground games, which are typically very playful, festive, and inclusive by nature. In this spirit, we try to give players increased agency and responsibility over the action and outcome of the matches to make the game feel more personal. For instance, players may take control of various hazardous events after elimination from the round. Apart from giving eliminated players something to do between rounds, this is an encouragement for them to intervene with the balance of the action. Whether players opt to chase revenge on their nemesis or target the leading player, this influence often leads to wonderfully personal player interactions. Making the action personal is an attempt to play into the social dynamics of couch multiplayer — a feeling we hope is coming through when you’re playing the game. View the full article

Hello everyone, my name is Hiroshi Matsuyama, CEO of CyberConnect2 and I am beyond excited to say that Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 will be released very soon on PS4! February 9th, to be exact. We made a really exciting announcement for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 today that I wanted to share with our fans on PlayStation.Blog. About an hour ago we officially announced the Sound Four DLC pack, which will bring the long awaited Sound Four Ninja to the Ultimate Ninja Storm universe as playable characters. I know that these characters have been highly requested for a long time and we are excited to finally bring them to our fans. We have been hard at work to make sure that The Sound Four are very unique to play as. The team has been pouring over countless manga issues and anime episodes to create the best versions of The Sound Four possible! Please look forward to The Sound Four DLC pack in the coming months. The team here at CyberConnect2 has worked closely with Bandai Namco for many years now creating great Naruto games for fans around the world. However Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 will be a turning point for us and we knew we had to make this game go beyond fan expectations of what an Ultimate Ninja Storm game could be. First off the bat is the roster. Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 has the largest roster of characters we’ve put into a Naruto game. If you have a favorite Naruto character, chances are he or she will be playable! The development team has been hard at work creating cool and interesting concepts with a lot of the characters. These range from characters “Awakening†into different forms with all-new attacks and completely different playstyles, to new combo attacks, hidden techniques, and Combination Secret Techniques that require players to use specific characters to unleash amazing attacks. I was even surprised when I saw the team’s proposal regarding the new character line-up. One of the biggest changes to the gameplay is the dynamic between main team leader character and sub-characters. In previous games your team of three characters consisted of the main party leader and two sub-characters that players could summon for assist moves during the battle. Now players can swap between all three characters during the battle to be used as the team leader bringing with it a host of new strategies for team formations and battle tactics. It’s an incredibly useful tool to help hone and improve your skills. So far I’ve been chatting about characters and battles but I’d be crazy not to mention the superstar of the game, Story Mode. We take you all the way through the 4th Great Shinobi War to the final battle between Naruto and Sasuke. I may be a bit biased, but when all the pieces come together; atmosphere, animation, art, special effects, gameplay, and music, I feel like it’s a work of art. The final battle is so amazing it even made me cry. Everyone here at CyberConnect2 is ecstatic to have Naruto fans around the world get their hands on Ultimate Ninja Storm 4. Everyone on the team has a strong connection to the Naruto franchise and it has been our honor to have long time fans and people who may have never seen an episode of the anime come together and experience Naruto in a totally unique and interactive way for all these years! I’ve only played it for a couple of hours, but Primal is shaping up to be one of my favorite entries in the Far Cry series. In our new episode of PlayStation Underground, PlayStation Powerhouse Ryan Clements and I go spears-on with Ubisoft Montreal’s bold new open-world epic. By now, you surely know the Far Cry formula. Set adrift in an exotic land, you must hunt wildlife, scavenge for supplies, and reclaim enemy territory in a desperate quest for survival. But Far Cry Primal’s prehistoric predisposition makes it a vastly different beast from its predecessors. Set 12,000 years ago in an overgrown Central Europe populated by dire wolves (!), humongous wooly rhinos (!!), and towering mammoths (!!!), Primal represents the series’ biggest creative departure since the well-loved Blood Dragon. Ubisoft Montreal definitely deserves credit for trying something different here. You play as Takkar, a hunter stranded in the land of Oros following a mammoth hunt. Rather than fire RPGs and glide around on wingsuits, you’ll hurl spears and train the local wildlife to fight alongside you. You can still collect plant and animal items to upgrade your weapons, but also new resources like fat that you can use to set your weapons ablaze. You’ll recognize plenty of side missions from prior Far Cry titles, but the prehistoric setting adds juicy new gameplay wrinkles. Dire Wolves bothering you at night? Try setting a bush ablaze to scare them off. Enemy tribe hunkered down near a key mission objective? Send your spirit owl in to mark their locations from above. Seriously, you have a spirit owl. And it’s awesome, like the Stone Age answer to a UAV. Though you’ll want to get real handy with your bow and arrow, Far Cry Primal also puts a large emphasis on training animal sidekicks. With enough practice and the right bait it’s possible to coax sabertooth cats, cave bears, and other fearsome critters onto your side — each with their own strengths, weaknesses and roles both in and out of combat. The game hits PS4 on February 23rd. I’ll be playing. Will you? View the full article

I’d like to invite you on a journey. It’s a journey of courage and discovery in a haunting, lonely world. As a child there were a few games that changed my life. Their stories changed how I thought about the world and how I thought about myself. Their journeys are ones that I still remember to this day. What I love most about games as a medium is that they can take you to a world you’ve never seen and let you discover it on your own. At Insomniac, inventing new worlds is probably the best part of our job. You might have been inside one of them before. Maybe it was a magical world of dragons, or a fantastic science fiction galaxy. Or maybe it was crazy city where the apocalypse became your playground. We’ve been hard at work on a new world. This one is built on a fantasy that I think we all share. The fantasy of the terrors and wonder that might lie in the depths of the sea. The endless possibilities that could be just outside our view, and the still undiscovered nightmares that might lurk in the deep. It’s a world where everything is interactive in surprising ways. Where every new area has its own secrets and mysteries for you to discover. The story is about love and heartbreak. It’s about going on a seemingly impossible journey to try to help someone you love. It’s the journey of a girl named Merryn in a game we call Song of the Deep. In this game you’ll explore a huge undersea world, both free-diving and in a submarine. It’s a metroidvania style of progression where you are constantly getting new abilities and figuring out ways to upgrade them as you take on the seemingly impossible obstacles that stand in your way. It’s a challenging journey, designed to test your mind and your reflexes in equal amounts. Making the game has been a labor of love for our team, and we hope it will be a journey that you too will love and remember. Song of the Deep will launch this summer on PS4. You can check here for updates, or the Insomniac Games website and our social channels. View the full article

We Are Doomed is a twin-stick shooter where you zap polygon baddies with an absurdly overpowered laserbeam. It’s pure arcade action: no cutscenes, no storyline, no lengthy tutorials. It’s a perfect fit for PS Vita, and you’ll be able to get your hands on it soon: February 9th, 2016. It also supports cross buy, so if you’ve already enjoyed We Are Doomed on PS4 you’ll get to play it on-the-go absolutely free. One of the great joys I’ve had is checking out the incredible scores that the PlayStation community have achieved on PS4. So for the PS Vita version, I decided to put together a tips guide. Maybe it’ll help you make it to the top? Collect Trinkets, Then Superbeam!Collecting Trinkets (the purple cubes and diamonds) does two things: increments your score multiplier, and fills the Superbeam meter. The basic strategy is to fill the meter, wait for a screen full of baddies, and then trigger the Superbeam to wipe them all out (at 2x the points, no less). But here’s the catch: once you fill the meter, you can’t bank any more Superbeams. So the longer you hold off finding the perfect moment to use it, the less potential you have for filling up the meter again. Like everything in life, finding the right balance is essential. Positioning is KeyPlaying fast and aggressive is important, but so is staying alive! Always be aware of your position relative to the enemies. The enemies are designed to swarm the player, so watch out! Learning the enemy tactics will help you better position yourself and prioritize targets. A few specific tips: Asteroids generally can’t be destroyed, but if you’re in a bind, firing the Superbeam will do the trick. Blasters (the yellow projectile-firing enemies) are aggressive but largely stationary. As long as you keep track of where they all are, you can delay taking them out and maybe collect a nice looking Trinket instead. Tadpoles seem harmless, but they dash quickly and multiply in number even faster. Even when it looks safe, keep your distance! Practice!Above all, We Are Doomed is a skill based game. There is no levelling and no upgrades, just your skills improving over time. If you want to get better, you need to get better! And that takes practice. So it’s a good thing you’ll have your PS Vita on you all the time, eh? We Are Doomed is coming to PS Vita on February 9th, 2016. I hope you enjoy it, and I hope to see even more fantastic scores on the leaderboards soon. PS: If you’re already a We Are Doomed fan (thx! <3) and want tips on something more specific, ask away in the comments and I’ll try to answer as many as I can! View the full article
