Hi, Mike Bithell here. It’s been two months since the launch of Volume on PlayStation and — thanks to your overwhelming support of the game — I’m happy to announce an expansion for Volume coming first to PlayStation VR at launch — Volume: Coda. Volume: Coda picks up after the events of the core game. I’ll avoid spoilers here, but you’ll play as a new character, brought in as a last resort by the villains hurt most by Locksley’s revolution. The new campaign features 30 new levels, a new cast of voice actors adding new characters to the story, and a new VR setting as players take on the role of The Troubleshooter. Volume: Coda is a free expansion to Volume. When the PlayStation VR platform launches next year (Nope, they won’t tell me when either), you’ll be able to play the Coda expansion and Volume’s core campaign in VR. You’ll also have access to all the user generated levels and, of course, the curated Staff Picks section where we highlight the best levels designed by the community. By the time you read this, the PS4 version of Volume will be patched in all available regions with the Checkpoints Update. The original design of Volume was heavily sided to speedrunners. The Checkpoints Update has added new modes and leaderboards for players seeking pure stealth or simply a more challenging experience. Now the different communities on PlayStation can compete against similar players on their own custom leaderboards. Where’s Volume for Vita? Well, it’s still happening and the game remains cross buy for PS4. We’ve hit some roadblocks, which slowed us down. Rushing out a weak port wasn’t an option, and I’m proud of what the team have managed to squeeze into that awesome little platform. Oh, and the Checkpoints Update is also absolutely included in the Vita version. Cannot wait for you folks to be able to check it out, and it doesn’t look like it’ll be too much of a wait. Oh, and one more thing… in celebration of the Checkpoints Update, Volume is on sale for PS4 at 30% off through November 4th. That was a lot of ground to cover. tl;dr: the Vita version of Volume is still coming and is still cross buy, PS4 now has the Checkpoints Update and more leaderboards, Volume is on sale, and I’m looking forward to sharing more about Volume: Coda leading up to the launch of PlayStation VR next year. Hi, I’m Alex Rose, and I make Super Rude Bear Resurrection. I grew up on super hard platformers, and I’ve always been the type of person to unlock everything in every game, but I found a lot of people who love the same games never managed to complete them. I always thought it was a shame that people could love these games as much as me but ultimately get stuck halfway through, and end up never seeing a lot of the game even though they’d like to. I really wanted to make a game that would fix that problem, and make a super hardcore game that everyone would be able to beat, but I wanted to make sure the game was still fun for players who are into mega hard challenges — I didn’t want to devalue their experience. I ended up making Super Rude Bear Resurrection, a game that is arguably one of the hardest games ever to be released, but simultaneously playable by anyone. The solution was corpses — every time you die, your body stays behind, and you can use it as a shield you can push, or a platform, or to press down buttons. Each death is progress. Tricky spike that you really can’t get past? Next time round, there’s a cushiony corpse lying on it to protect you. Arrow trap too fast for you? Hide behind a corpse and shove it forwards. Anyone can beat Super Rude Bear Resurrection, it just takes a little determination, and it’s not tedious. You don’t find yourself annoyed at dying, because you know you’re just one step closer to victory. But for hardcore players who want the ultimate challenge, it means they have an insanely difficult one. If you want to collect all the Trophies, you’re going to have to complete every level without dying. And that is an extremely tall order, one of the hardest gaming challenges you’ll ever attempt. Most games have to be designed in a way where at least most people will be able to complete it without dying. Not Rude Bear. Rude Bear is designed in a way where you never have to die, but 99% of people probably will. To beat Rude Bear without dying is insanity. There are plenty of levels that I, as an extremely competent platformer player who has 100 percent’ed just about every hard platformer out there, and someone who’s been playing this game for 2 years straight, am still trying to complete. And the game is very, very fair. You won’t blame the game, you’ll blame yourself. All the hitboxes are so fair you’ll be surprised you survived, not angry you didn’t. The camera pans ahead of you whenever there’s any doubt of your reactions being fast enough. And if you’re feeling extra careful, you can even control your Fairy companion and fly around at any time, scouting out areas (even the entire level) before you attempt something. The engine is my proudest creation. I specialized in dynamics when studying Physics at university and making a tight controlling physics engine for a game was basically what my degree was made for. After a few hours, Rude Bear will be an extension of your brain, not a character you control on screen. Many hours of love have gone into making the game feel awesome, and making you feel like a badass when you accomplish something. I wanted to make the game perfect for speedrunning too, so there’s a lot of great features in there too that I’ll talk about later when they’re ready to show — things like every random event being seeded on your corpse count, so every optimal run will be identical. We’re super excited to be working with PlayStation, and launching early next year, and we’re going to be showing the game off at Paris Games Week to celebrate! So feel free to come down to our Playstation booth and experience it for yourself if you’re about. View the full article

Next Tuesday, October 27th at 9:00 AM Pacific we’ll be drawing back the curtains on the inaugural Paris Games Week PlayStation Press Conference. In front of gathered media at the iconic La Grande Arche de la Défense, we’ll be announcing new games and offering some exciting updates on previously announced titles. Naturally, you’ll be able to watch all the action live as it happens, right here on PlayStation.Blog via our Twitch channel. The show will be translated live into French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Japanese. Please note, much like E3 is targeted to the US audience and Tokyo Game Show is targeted at Japan, Paris Games Week is primarily aimed at European gamers — keep that in mind as you watch. Not everything mentioned or shown in the presentation will necessarily apply to gamers in the United States. However, we’ll be sending plenty of Tweets and photos live from the show floor — so you won’t want to miss it! Finally, if you’re heading to Paris Games Week, make sure you swing by the massive PlayStation booth where you’ll be able to check out a hefty selection of upcoming titles, including Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Star Wars Battlefront, and Ratchet & Clank. With Rainbow Six Siege, we wanted to return to the core pillars of teamwork, tactics, and tension while also pioneering a new gameplay direction for the series. You probably know some of the basics already (online multiplayer focus, attack and defense, etc.), but here are a few things you might have missed. 1.) Operators Create New, Strategic PossibilitiesTeam Rainbow is comprised of the world’s most elite operators selected from famed counter-terrorist units. Each operator is an expert in their field, with a unique gadget function, and a specific loadout dependent on from which CTU they were recruited from. There will be 20 at launch to choose from, and you’ll get to discover which ones speak to your specific playstyle. Operators work together to form powerful combinations, and there can’t be two of the same operator in a match, so teams will need to think carefully about their team composition and strategy. 2.) Destruction Molds the Environment to Your AdvantageDestruction isn’t just a neat, aesthetic feature in Rainbow Six Siege — it lies at the heart of the gameplay. Using breach charges and other tools on walls and floors allow you to surprise, trap, and create lines of sight on your opponents. The RealBlast engine enables us to provide procedural destruction, so surfaces will never break the same way twice. In the same sense, maps will be different every time you play depending on how you destroy and mold them throughout the course of the round. 3.) Sound is Just As Crucial as Visual IntelligenceWhile utilizing drones, surveillance cameras, and operator gadgets is a huge part of gaining an edge on your opponents, it’s just as important to listen to what’s happening around you. We’ve invested a lot of time implementing advanced sound propagation techniques, and audio cues can — and should — be used to your advantage. Footsteps, a reloading gun, or rappel rope outside a barricaded window may tip you off to imminent enemy engagement. Check out our YouTube channel in the coming weeks for an exclusive feature video on how we’re implementing sound propagation in our destructible environments. 4.) Enemy AI Archetypes in Terrorist Hunt Keep You on Your ToesIn Rainbow Six Siege, we wanted to make the AI more intelligent than ever before. PvE gameplay will feature different enemy AI archetypes controlled by an AI “Strategy Manager†that responds and adapts to your actions in the game. The archetypes can do anything human players can do, like breaching, fortifying, and rappelling — so they’re very unpredictable. Normal difficulty allows casual players to have fun with this mode, but hard and realistic difficulty levels provide a much more challenging experience for more hardcore or advanced players. 5.) We’re Investing in This Game for the Long TermBy going all-in with a focus on providing a great online multiplayer experience, we made a commitment to treating our game as a service and investing in it for the long term. Our vision was not a game that you’d play through and “beat,†but something you’d come back to time and again and grow with. In order to do that, we will be heavily supporting the game for at least one year with regular balancing and tweaks. New maps will be free for everyone, and we’ll be releasing the full details of our post-launch support soon on the Rainbow Six dev blog. 6.) Angela Bassett Plays “Sixâ€Academy Award-nominated actress Angela Bassett takes on the classic role of “Six,†the commander of Team Rainbow. Rainbow Six will feature a series of 11 solo missions called “Situations†that allow you to acclimate to the game and recruit new operators to join the team. Bassett will brief and debrief players for each situation. 7.) We Pay Close Attention to Player FeedbackNot only are we trying to do something new with the gameplay and how we support the game, but we’re also taking a deeper approach to how we work with the Rainbow Six community. We are very active on the official subreddit and forums, and work closely with players to improve the game based on their feedback. You can see some of the fruits of this collaboration in our post-Alpha changes blog post, and another community event we did earlier this year. If you’re serious about Rainbow Six and want to be a part of it, we’d love for you to join us. Hopefully you learned a little something new about Rainbow Six Siege from this post. In the coming months after the game is launched on December 1st, we expect that we’ll all learn some new things as new gameplay possibilities are explored. Thank you for your support, and we’ll see you soon. View the full article

Hello, PlayStation.Blog. I’m Niels, co-founder of WeirdBeard — an independent game studio based in Amsterdam. We started developing games eight years ago and have made all sorts of games; entertainment, educational, and promotional — even medical games. Now I’m proud to announce our newest game for PS4: Tricky Towers. Ever since we started, we’ve wanted to make a console game and see the box standing in stores. This dream is now coming true. Well, partially, as boxes in stores are now almost something of the past. It has been a big challenge for our team so far, and we are very happy that Sony is with us on this ride. For everybody in the team it has been a great opportunity to show off their skills. For us, Tricky Towers is already a great experience! So what is the game? Tricky Towers is a multiplayer, physics-based tower building game. Players have to build a tower with tetrominoes and be faster and better at it than their opponents. To spice things up, players can also use magic spells to either support their own structure or mess up the towers of their opponents. With spells flying everywhere and tetrominoes dropping like flies, Tricky Towers gives players a chaotically good time. Tricky Towers has a number of different game modes to keep you entertained — for now we’d like to discuss the race and survivor modes. In race mode you must build a tower tall enough to reach the finish line before your opponents do. But don’t stop and celebrate too soon — your tower has to remain upright for three seconds before you’ll be crowned as the winner! Survivor mode is all about building a safe, stable tower. Each time you drop tetrominoes your character will lose a life. Lose all your lives and you’re out! Survivor mode is a tricky balance of building to protect your own tower while trying to cast spells that will tumble the towers of your opponents. There are also rumors of the survival world being a tad haunted… We are now working on finishing up the game by creating a single-player campaign, polishing the magic spells and improving the existing multiplayer experience. We have a high standard when it comes to the small details, so we always put a lot of time into polishing up our games. We can’t wait for the game to be released for everyone to play — whether it’s with friends at a party or battling it out against other gamers online. View the full article

Playing as a Hero or Villain character in Star Wars Battlefront (including Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader) isn’t only about charging fearlessly into battle and laying waste to enemy troopers; it’s also about defensive tactics and supporting your team. I’m here today to give you insight into the design process of two new heroes (and one new villain) on the Star Wars Battlefront roster. Let’s start with a legendary royal Rebel, Princess Leia. Leia Organa Leia is a character that succeeds through her fearless, strategic mind. We can all remember moments when her quick-thinking blaster fire helped the Rebels out of trouble. Our goal for all the Hero characters has been to capture their essence and spirit from the original Star Wars film trilogy, and then convey that through gameplay. Doing that is more straightforward with characters wielding Lightsabers and Force abilities; it’s obvious how to build gameplay around those things. Leia was trickier in that regard since she doesn’t have a specific, favorite weapon, so we had to represent her in another way. It’s clear that Leia is a leader, so in Star Wars Battlefront she’s very much about support play, buffing team members, and holding positions. Furthermore, players spawning close to her will spawn as Alderaan Honor Guards. That said, she’s got a lot of offensive output as well. Just look at the original Star Wars trilogy: you’ll notice that when Leia shoots at stormtroopers, she kills them quickly. We’ve based one of Leia’s abilities on this: Trooper Bane. A hard-hitting, boosted blaster shot, Trooper Bane is designed to be fired in single bursts. Now, this packs a real punch if you hit your target. A stormtrooper will get killed in one blast by Trooper Bane, and against Villains it will both deal a lot of damage and temporarily stun them. A more defensive power is the Enhanced Squad Shield. This works like the regular Squad Shield Power Card but is far stronger: it can stop some Force abilities and Leia can even shoot out of it with Trooper Bane active, which ground troopers cannot. The Enhanced Squad Shield is ideal if you want to own a certain area of the map, such as an Uplink Station in Walker Assault. Simply deploy the shield and you can securely hold these key areas as a group thanks to Leia’s cover. Then there’s Supply Drop, another power that will make Leia a key asset for Rebel forces. Activate this ability to drop a variety of power ups for ground troopers, or health boosts for other Hero characters. This can really help your team out, so make sure to use it as often as you can. Han Solo It’s been incredibly fun to work on Han Solo for Star Wars Battlefront. He’s such a likeable character, and turning his unique persona into gameplay features is a thrill when you’re a Star Wars fan. We’ve also witnessed the love for this character in our playtests. Han’s sardonic lines and emotes seem to put a smile on everyone’s face. Gameplay-wise, Han Solo is a gunslinger mainly designed for lone wolves and, echoing the beginning of the original Star Wars trilogy, he’s not very dependent on others. Similar to a Rebel trooper, but with a greatly boosted arsenal, Han Solo might be the easiest Hero character to get into. Offensive output, damage, and mobility — that’s what this guy’s about. Han Solo has three useful abilities to even out the odds fighting the Empire and the first one is called Rapid Fire. Active for a few seconds, this lets Han fire his Blaster as fast you can pull the trigger, without having to worry about overheating. Try this out when taking on compact groups and mow down those stormtroopers! Rapid Fire is also really good for when villains like Darth Vader approach. Use it at the right time and you’ll lay down a ton of damage. Han Solo has an element of fortune around him and that’s where Lucky Shot, Han’s second power, originates from. This is a “build up and release†power that hits really hard and is effective against vehicles. Lucky Shot works for infantry as well and is mighty enough to break Darth Vader’s block. Last but not least is the Shoulder Charge power. Remember the Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope scene where Han charges into a group of stormtroopers? Then you’ll know what to expect. Shoulder Charge is both an offensive and defensive move and can be used to quickly get into battles — but also out of them. Emperor Palpatine Based on how he’s been characterized and how he plays, Emperor Palpatine might be my personal favorite character in Star Wars Battlefront. But getting to that point has been a challenge. We wanted many different things with the Emperor. We wanted him to be very mobile, but also about deception and fooling people that he’s fragile and weak. As you’ve seen in the original Star Wars trilogy, Palpatine pretends to be a weak old man, when he in fact is extremely powerful. That two-faced side was something we wanted to convey in gameplay and the Emperor’s abilities. Palatine’s main attack is the iconic Force Lightning, which does a lot of damage to troops within reach. The lightning also comes in the more powerful Chain Lightning form, which is an area of effect ability dealing damage to enemies around you in all directions. Another power is called Force Dash and is (pun intended) shocking in another way. When Palpatine activates Force Dash he’ll move extremely fast in his current direction, which can be a real nasty surprise for Rebel soldiers. We’ve seen some players get really startled when they have been aiming down the sights at Palpatine and suddenly see him right up close. In contrast to these abilities, Palpatine is also the Empire team’s support Villain, capable of providing powerups for others and himself. Thanks to his command of the Empire, Palpatine can use the Imperial Resources ability to hand out power-ups to teammates and health boosts to other Villains. View the full article

Forced is a cooperative action arcade RPG with puzzle and tactical elements. Sound like a little much? That’s because it defies definition both in gameplay and background. Get ready — Forced launches today on PS4! The project started at a Danish university outside Copenhagen with a group of students gathering in an abandoned classroom to produce our first commercial game. After a while, we realized the project was consuming so much of our time that we didn’t really need our apartments anymore, so we left them and moved into the classroom with mattresses, refrigerators, a couch, and even a microwave! After 7 months of living at the university, disaster struck — we were discovered and had to abandon our base of operations. Luckily, we found a house outside Copenhagen where we could all convene to keep the production going. Working hard on Forced for a year still without any pay but the promise of experience, our team reached a point where money for rent and other development costs was running out. Turning to Kickstarter in November 2012, we managed to successfully raise $65,000. This didn’t last us very long though, and as the members of the team started running low on savings, it was clear something drastic had to be done. The founders went to a bank and borrowed enough to keep the team going for the last four months that was needed to finish the game. Finally the game was finished and released on PC, going on to sell more than 300,000 copies in the following 2 years. In the meantime we worked to bring the game to consoles as well. Forced had always been intended to be played with friends couch co-op style, and after a long struggle, the game is now arriving on PS4! Forced is a challenging co-op focused brawler. You are cast as a slave in the toughest fantasy gladiator school of them all, condemned to fight to the death while attempting to win your freedom. You will face deadly trials and huge creatures but your Spirit Mentor, Balfus, will guide you in your quest to break the chains of oppression. Now titled Forced: Slightly Better Edition, the game brings numerous improvements since the original PC version. An entire rework of the networking has created a much more stable online experience, vast optimization and bugfixing has ensured the game runs as smoothly as possible, and new content has been added in the form of new Survival maps that challenge even the best players. Forced: Slightly Better Edition is out today on PS4. View the full article

Greetings recently-undead candidates! Today sees the launch of Overlord: Fellowship of Evil on PS4, which means you and the other Netherghūl can get to doing what you do best: bringing pain, fear, and suffering to the dim witted population and crushing all that stands in your way. But wait! Before we get to the marvellous mayhem, take time to hone your skills and practice your kills! Being buried six feet deep tends to play havoc with one’s fleshy bits, so you may find you’re a little rusty. Never fear, Gnarl and his minions will have you up and slaying with the best of them soon enough. Just remember these little maggots of wisdom from him and I’m certain you’ll return triumphant and not in tiny pieces like the last bunch of no hopefuls. Hope you enjoy the game. Greed is important, but don’t forget to buy things with your gold! Gold, really, is useless — and far too shiny! Always be on the winning side. No one likes a loser. Patience is a virtue, so be impatient! Hit everything and loot everything immediately! Practice telling the truth. That way, it’s easier to lie convincingly! Covet everything you see. Your neighbour’s house, your neighbour’s wife — covet it all! Always keep a good supply of sheep, for food… And for entertainment! Never, ever let anyone touch your helmet! They might cut themselves on the spiky bits. Always loot the dead. I’ve never known one of them to complain. Shower regularly. This might sound, ugh, “good,†but believe me; no one respects an evildoer who smells like a green minion’s armpits! Kill anything fluffy on sight! Keep your ears peeled for the loot goblin! If you don’t have ears, steal some. When faced with certain death or a particularly hazardous section, it’s always polite to let your colleagues go first. Evil always finds a way… Even if it needs a bit of a nudge. View the full article

I’m happy to finally be able to introduce Tales of Zestiria, the latest installment in the Tales of…series, to everyone in North America. My staff and I have spent more than four years bringing this title to life, from the development phase to production of the Japanese edition, and now the international edition. It’s an undertaking that I look back on with immense pride. This series has been supported by you, the fans, for more than 20 years now. I’d like to speak on behalf of myself and for my staff when I say that we are deeply grateful to all of you for all of the love and support that you have provided to us. PlayStation.Blog contacted me requesting that I submit a short comment for this launch. This isn’t something that I normally do, but I’d like to take the opportunity to speak briefly regarding the development of Tales of Zestiria. This title has revolved around the singular theme of “Passion†since the earliest stages of development. We wanted to create a classic adventure story, supported by a cast of characters who all have some sort of unique passion that guides them in their actions. In the case of Sorey, it is his affection for the mystique of the numerous ancient ruins that he encounters throughout the world. This main theme of “Passion†is what led to our overarching concept for this title, which was, “a story where the characters never betray their convictions, and always stay true to their passions.†Once Sorey becomes a Shepherd, his Prime Lord Lailah constantly reminds him to be true to himself. That was one of the tools that we employed in supporting and reinforcing our core concept throughout the game. Every character that Sorey encounters has their own passions, and that is what guides them and gives them the strength to never run from conflict and overcome adversity. In turn, the trials and hardships that they encounter allow them to grow as a character. If the players who play the game all the way through to the end can feel a real connection to Sorey and the other characters that they’ve encountered, that would give me the highest sense of fulfillment as a developer. The Tales of… series is very character-centric, so all of us spent quite a bit of time discussing each character’s personality and mindset in order to create a story with a great deal of depth. I hope that you can appreciate our efforts and experience the full story, all the way through to the end. Besides the story, we developed the gameplay system while keeping our player’s interests and preferences in mind, and took a new approach regarding our developmental environment. Compared to other titles in the series, we wanted Tales of Zestiria to have more flexibility and freedom regarding its RPG elements, so that players could develop their very own, highly unique characters. We hope that our efforts and innovations allow you to have an even deeper gameplay experience as you build your character up. It’s rare to talk about a game that we’re about to release like this, particularly overseas, but I do think that the Tales of… series will continue to evolve in the future. I hope that the wonderful fans of the series will continue to support it, as they have in the past. Thank you very much for reading along, and on behalf of my staff and myself, thank you for continuing to support us and the Tales of… series. View the full article

Check out the brand new trailer for GTA Online: Lowriders – arriving this coming Tuesday, October 20 for PlayStation 4. Catch a glimpse of some of the newly customizable vehicles included in this recently-announced addition to GTA Online, as well as a look at Lamar’s grand plans to take on the gangs of Los Santos and conquer the city’s thriving Lowrider scene. You can also download the artwork from today’s trailer as desktops, smartphone and tablet backgrounds, avatars and more at rockstargames.com. With next week’s release of GTA Online: Lowriders for PS4 – lovers of cars and customization all across Los Santos and Blaine County will have a suite of brand new options and a new place to go get them. Introducing Benny’s Original Motor Works, a new customs shop in downtown Strawberry that offers a huge range of lowrider customizations that can turn your classic junker into a high-spec, tricked-out king of the streets. Visit Benny’s website via the shortcut on your in-game phone to choose from a half-dozen select customizable vehicles – then bring them down to the man himself for an upgrade that unlocks new custom lowrider mods. Deck out your engine block with covers and air filters, coat your interiors with velour, leather and patterns, choose custom colors and designs for your dials, or add a new steering wheel and custom shift levers. Give your ride lift with hydraulics – the more powerful the pumps, the higher you can bounce. And boost your stereo’s performance with new speakers and subs in the back. Then, meet up with friends and fellow car enthusiasts to show off your new rides – use the Player Interaction Menu while inside or outside the car to open up the vehicle doors, hood and trunk, switch on the engine to flash your neons and bump your favorite radio station for all to admire. Crew car shows are about to go next level. And keep an eye out for calls and texts from Lamar – he’s making moves of his own through a series of new missions and he’s going to need your help. You’ll want to hit up your trusted allies, wheelmen, and sharpshooters for backup too, as things are going to get hectic. Get stocked with the fully automatic Machine Pistol or Machete from Ammu-Nation. The upwardly mobile can also expand their garage space and fleet of vehicles with the addition of the oft-requested fourth purchasable property. There’s also tons of new clothing, hair and accessory options as well as 3 new Adversary Modes and more. GTA Online: Lowriders arrives for PS4 as an automatic update on Tuesday, October 20th. See more screens from next week’s update below. Benny’s garage in the Strawberry neighborhood of South Los Santos is the place to go for Lowrider customization. Taking on enemies in the stylish Albany Primo Custom. Give your Lowrider hydraulics and make it bounce all across Los Santos. Trick out everything from paint jobs to stereos and plaques. Hello Marvel and puzzle fans. If you haven’t heard already, Marvel Puzzle Quest is out today on PS4 and PS3! For those of you that may be wondering what does this version of Marvel Puzzle Quest offer, let me share all these details with you right now. Many of you may be playing this game on a device that you call home with, but I want to make it clear on what you will be getting on PlayStation as these are not exactly the same game. First off, some players may want to experience Marvel Puzzle Quest without the free-to-play aspects and they should be very happy that they can play the game on PlayStation as a standalone experience. The game takes place in the Dark Reign era which encompasses much of the Marvel Universe all in one game and features more than 50 Marvel Super Heroes and Super Villains. Players can jump into one of many story modes and experience match-3 in traditional Puzzle Quest fashion. In addition, play online or locally in Versus Event Mode to battle friends and/or foes in direct head-to-head matches which is a Marvel Puzzle Quest first. Climb the leaderboard as you defeat your online opponents and show the world who is the best Marvel Puzzle Quest champion! With the upcoming Marvel Puzzle Quest launch on PlayStation, we have two DLC packages. The first volume is called Science Friction and it revolves around Hulk’s story line with six different episodes (where the Dark Avengers are trying to recruit Hulk and the Avengers are trying to stop them). Upon updating your game with this DLC, The Punisher will be automatically added to your character selection screen. You can then use the Punisher with your team to battle in the story mode or in versus mode. You can unlock Hulk by completing the “Hard†version of story. Trust us, he’s totally worth it. The second volume is called, “The Case of the Cold Chimichangas†and this time it’s about Deadpool’s story. He has two huge episodes where he takes on the Marvel Heroes and Villains as he wants to take all of the ISO-8 all for himself. Similar to the first DLC, when you update your game with this pack, Doctor Octopus will be automatically added to your character selection screen. You can then use Doctor Octopus with your team to battle in the story mode or in versus mode. You can only unlock Deadpool after completing the “Hard†mode of his story. We’re super excited to finally bring the Marvel Puzzle Quest fun to PlayStation. Please let us know if you have any questions here in the comments or visit us anytime on our social channels on Facebook and Twitter. View the full article

Hello, Source Hunters! David Walgrave here to talk about the exciting and dynamic turn-based combat of Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition that launches October 27th on PS4. This new trailer focuses on combat, and you can see how the game plays here as captured directly from PS4 itself. But what is the combat in Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition? It’s… as fluid, dynamic, and opportunistic as your imagination! Depending on your desired difficulty mode, the combat in Original Sin Enhanced Edition can be torturously tactical, or bright and breezy! It just depends on your play-style. Take advantage of crowd control spells such as petrify, charm, and freeze — required in the harder difficulty settings, or simply ignite, inflame, poison, and electrify your way through the world — zapping water under-foot to shock, or engulfing the enemy in flames by igniting a near-by oil barrel. It’s all about using the skills at your party’s disposal to supplement each of their player-defined roles. Although featuring 12 classes (including a new class, the Inquisitor!), Original Sin Enhanced Edition is really “classless.†You can mix and match as you develop your characters, chaining abilities and taking advantage of environmental aspects such as water, ice, oil on the floor, and steam clouds, things like that. We can’t wait for you to try the game on October 27th, and we’re excited to hear what you think! View the full article

Organ Trail Complete Edition launches on October 20th for PS4 and PS Vita! Organ Trail is a retro zombie survival game. Travel westward in a station wagon with 4 of your friends, scavenging for supplies and fending off the undead. Packed full of zombie mechanics, themes and references, Organ Trail is a must-have for any zombie survival fans. Organ Trail Complete Edition contains both the Endless Expansion and the brand new Final Cut Expansion. When we set out to make a console version of Organ Trail we decided that we wouldn’t just port it over, but that we had to take the opportunity to add everything the community ever asked for, even the features we insisted weren’t possible. Fans kept asking for a co-op mode and we would guffaw in their collective faces. Well, now we wrote down basically every idea that anyone ever had and added them all to the game; even co-op! We’ve easily doubled the amount of content with the Final Cut Expansion; adding more characters, vehicles, zombies, bandits, boss fights, encounters, cities, and tons of secrets. We literally had to be pried away from our keyboards and stop cramming in new content to actually release this game for you to play. Organ Trail is a game that is close to our hearts here at The Men Who Wear Many Hats. Originally released 5 years ago as a simple web game, Organ Trail has grown well beyond our wildest dreams with millions of players around the world. Over the past five years, we’ve expanded Organ Trail several times, pouring our passion into it and making it bigger and better. In return, we’ve been able to make the games we want to make. To celebrate, we’ve made the amazing live-action short above to celebrate Organ Trail as we sign off on it in this penultimate release. And because Organ Trail looks as cool on your TV as it does in your pocket, we’ve decided to make Organ Trail Complete Edition a cross buy purchase with cloud save support. Play on the couch with a buddy using the drop in co-op and then sneak off to bed and keep playing on your PS Vita! We’re so excited to be putting this out you guys. We hope you have as much fun playing the zombie apocalypse as we’ve had making it. Cheers! View the full article

score submissions PSBlog Feed: Astraea Coming to PS4
Commander Fury posted a topic in Playstation Blog
Hello everyone, my name is Brandyn, and I’m the lead developer of Astraea. We are very excited to announce that Astraea will be coming to PS4 in early 2016! It’s an open-ended multiplayer sandbox game that allows you to build a town, run a farm, and make lots of friends. We will be showing off Astraea on PS4 for the first time ever at the Central Canada Comic Con this October. Our booth will feature exclusive PS4 gameplay with split screen co-op mode! Astraea is about giving players the freedom to design their own towns by allowing buildings/structures/objects to be constructed wherever the player would like. When you’re not constructing your town, interact with the villagers to see their energy level and overall happiness, decorate your home, or even go shopping in the capital! In Astraea, both you and the villagers will be able to plant/harvest crops, raise farm animals, participate in activities and more. Relax in your town by spending the day fishing on a boat or docks, riding around on horseback, etc. Another unique feature of Astraea is the ability to create and play mini-games in your town. A few examples of mini-games are: archery, racing, and fishing tournaments. You can invite your friends to enter your town to compete and play these mini-games. Astraea was designed to be an open ended game, so don’t feel rushed when creating your town and let your imagination soar! We are very excited to have the opportunity to show off Astraea at the 2015 Central Canada Comic Con! This will be the first time that Astraea has been displayed publicly on the PS4. The Central Canada Comic Con event runs from October 30, 2015 to November 1, 2015. The table for Astraea will be located at Indie Gamer Alley in the BaseLAN section. Be sure to come visit our table as we will be showing off new exclusive gameplay on PS4 as well as split-screen multiplayer! Also, do not forget to fill out and drop off your ballot at our table as we will be raffling off some prizes! We hope that you are excited about Astraea coming to the PS4. Astraea is a unique experience where, not only can you invite your friends to visit your town but you can develop it together! Enjoy building your town, raising farm animals, planting crops, fishing, and other fun adventures with friends or by yourself! Thank you for your interest and I hope to see you in Astraea in the future — feel free to post questions and thoughts in the comments below! View the full article-

Today I’m immensely happy to announce that Dino Dini’s Kick Off Revival, a brand new installment of my classic football simulation games, is coming exclusively to PS4 and PS Vita in 2016. For those of you who don’t recognize me, allow me to introduce myself. I was a geek from childhood, and happened to be just the right age when home computers became a thing. I taught myself to program, and wanted to make games like those in the arcades. I sold my first game when I was 14 or so, in 1980. In 1988 I started work on Kick Off on Amiga and ST home computers. After launch, they reached the top of the charts and won at industry awards such as the 1990 Golden Joytsick “16 bit Game of the Yearâ€. It was banned from the magazine offices because people were playing it too much! However, the industry started to become unfriendly towards small developers and individuals like me during the 1990’s, and so I went into the industry in other ways, working with companies in the US, the UK, and Italy. Eventually, I went into teaching game development which is what I have been doing for the past eight years in the Netherlands. I never really stopped wanting to continue the story. I watched as some competitors with big budgets and licenses took over the market, and I was sad because they forgot the lessons I had taught them. As one person, I had managed to beat large companies in sales figures without having licenses and gigantic budgets. I did this by focusing on what is the most important part of games: gameplay, and I am very good at that. I was not the only one who could do this — there were many others — but the industry focused on graphical realism and high production values. But recently indie game development has made a comeback. As I saw that the industry was beginning to change and embrace the indie spirit again, I knew I had to try one more time. Talent is being valued once again and this is a wonderful thing. So, what can you expect from the new Kick Off? The important things will not change. The ball is not stuck to your feet; you can shoot the way you want; aiming and swerving the ball will be 100% under your control. The game is going to be in 3D, but only because it is actually easier to make games like that these days. I may offer different camera views, but the default views will be the classic top down approach of Kick Off 2 and GOAL!, perhaps with small adjustments. The spirit will be that of the old games, but designed with the modern hardware in mind. This is particularly true of the controllers. 25 years ago home computers used an eight-direction joystick with one button. These were digital, not analog. You could only aim in eight directions. The new game will make full use of the analog controls, and the gameplay is tuned to work with these. The effect is that the feel and the spirit of the original game is retained, but the possibilities for precision and skill are vastly improved. If you like to know more about the development of the game you can follow me on Twitter. View the full article

Hello, fighting fans. The story of Furi starts ten years ago, on a plane, as I was headed to a game show. At the time I was a junior designer for a big video game company. Indie development hadn’t really taken off yet, so the idea of making my own console game was nothing more than a pipe dream. But the person travelling with me asked me what I would do if I could make my dream game, and I told him about this game that would be one long boss fight. A boss fight against an opponent similar to you, not a gigantic creature or a demon. A boss fight that felt like a duel — a tense, exhausting, and utterly rewarding duel. Furi is the manifestation of this idea that’s stuck with me for the past ten years, as I grew as a designer and set up my own indie studio, The Game Bakers. Furi is a game where you fight for a reason. It’s a game that teases you before the fight, while you walk toward your fate, the same way you would be pumped up and stressed before a boxing match. As you do, you’ll start to piece together about why you’re here and what you’re fighting for. And then there are the duels. Furi’s combat gameplay is designed with Japanese games in mind — ultra fast-paced and responsive. Your character moves as soon as you send an input. Skills and reflexes are required to dodge and parry the enemy’s attacks. You beat your enemies by shooting like in a bullet hell shoot ’em up, and by sword fighting like in a samurai duel. Each boss you face off with has a unique fighting style that you’ll have to figure out how to beat… not to mention a unique look designed by Afro Samurai creator Takashi Okazaki. We are still hard at work polishing the game, creating the final bosses, and even throwing in an Easter egg or two. Furi is set to release in 2016, but we’ll keep you updated in the meantime! Until then, I hope you enjoy the first trailer! View the full article
