1. Some games have problems with bugs, but Dishonored has trouble with rats. Big, evil ones that prowl in packs and can rend a man’s flesh from his screaming bones. But killer rats are the least of your worries in the dark world of Dishonored, an imaginative action-adventure from Arkane Studios and Bethesda coming to PS3 later this year. The game nimbly blends inspirations from a pantheon of modern classics: The oppressive atmosphere and paranoid politicking of BioShock, the graceful bloodletting of Assassin’s Creed, the murky morality of Deus Ex, the stealth and shadow of Thief. This is a game about skulking in dark places, eavesdropping on secret conversations, setting up the perfect ambush and beating a hasty retreat. More...
 2. In traditional or mainstream FPS games, the mission area, i.e. the layout of objectives, structures, and spawn locations, are fairly static, thus making missions predictable after playing them a few times. This is not the case in DUST 514. Because of its sandbox nature, we want to give players the freedom to change the battlefield through choices and this is where the “dynamic†part of the battlefields will come from. This means that battlefields in DUST 514 could change based on the actions that players make – from innocuous actions such as changing one’s character fitting before a deployment, all the way up to decisions made light years away in a player owned corporate board room. However, giving players a big sandbox to play in does not simply mean throwing a bunch of random choices at them and say, “go.†For players to experience the uniquely emergent gameplay offered by the EVE Online universe, the freedom that these choices offer must be handled in a meaningful manner. To illustrate this, we will be looking at how battlefields in DUST 514 are made dynamic in two major ways: at the macro and the micro scale. 3. As you will see in the video, Jack gives everyone a behind the scenes look and explains why UFreqTV is running a fundraiser. Think of UFreqTV like PBS, we do it all for free, on top of that we are not able to sell advertising for the show in Home, so we get by with what we have. Though we still think the show looks like $1 Million bucks anyway.

 4. Hey everyone! Hoping you’re all enjoying the zombified fruits of our labor now that the first episode of The Walking Dead arrived just yesterday on PlayStation Network. We’re insanely busy already getting the next episode ready for all of you, but I wanted to pass along this sneak peek at a video that will help explain why all of the choices you make in the first episode will matter from episode to episode, and also all season long. Sit back and watch as my good friend Harrison Pink explains how different each outcome can be for each individual player throughout the season. There are more juicy The Walking Dead details to come, so stay tuned here and look (listen?) for me later this week on the Official PlayStation Blogcast! On behalf of the whole team here at Telltale Games, thanks again for all of your support, and we hope you enjoy the first episode! More...

 8. Now that we're a month out from the May 22nd launch of Sorcery, I'm pleased to show off our final box art, along a brand new trailer that dives in the story behind this much anticipated PlayStation Move title. Some elements of the story were remarkably consistent throughout development process, while some have changed quite dramatically. The two main characters - Finn, the sorcerer's apprentice, and Erline, his magical cat - were there almost from the beginning. We always knew they were on a quest to reach the Slumbering Palace at the heart of the Faerie Realm. However, WHY they were on this quest, and WHO was trying to stop them kept shifting. Here's a look (above). A lot of the details of the story grew organically out of gameplay. The team would have a cool idea for an enemy or a puzzle or an encounter and I'd weave the rest of the narrative around it. For example, the civilization of the bogeys (an early-game enemy) is crude and brutal because that's how they behave when they attack. And a lot of the mythology of the Faerie Forest had its roots in the boss battle you fight there. More...

 13. Hello PlayStation.Blog fans, and other citizens of Earth! I’ve got some good news for Bejeweled fans: We stopped watching kitten videos, fixed the hamster wheel, and are now happy to report that Bejeweled 3 is finally coming to PlayStation Network! Huzzah! Now if you’ve played Bejeweled 1 or 2 before, you may be asking why you should upgrade to Bejeweled 3. “How much different could they make a Match 3 game?†you may ask. “What do I do this time—Match 4?†“Do I really need to give those clowns more of my money just to swap more gems?†I’m going to be perfectly honest with you: Yes, you do. I mean, “need†is such a relative word, when you think about it. I mean, sure, I suppose some of you “need†to pay the rent, or feed your family, rather than buy the new Bejeweled. Whatever. Frankly, the landlord can probably wait a few days, and I’m sure there are plenty of leftovers in your fridge if your family starts whining at you while clutching their swollen, distended stomachs. Meanwhile, those gems in Bejeweled 3 aren’t going to swap themselves, are they? No sir. No, they are not. I rest my case. More...

 17. Over the last couple of weeks we’ve been talking a lot about the highly anticipated multiplayer mode for Resistance: Burning Skies for PS Vita. Supporting up to eight players over WiFi with a robust arsenal of powerful weapons and the precision and accuracy that come with dual-analog controls, Resistance: Burning Skies is sure to be the best FPS multiplayer experience available on a handheld. We’ve already lifted the lid on the first two modes, Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch, and just last week at an event in San Francisco we revealed the title’s last multiplayer mode, Survival Mode, an intense power struggle between humans and the gruesome Chimera. Survival mode pits the players against each other in a race to the finish where only the strong survive. Here’s how it works: in a battle of humans vs. Chimera, six players start as humans and two as Chimera. As the Chimera players make a kils, their human victims are resurrected as Chimera so the balance slowly shifts. As the battle continues, the winner is the human player who lasts the longest in a match. We keep a timer running as you play so you can track your progress. More...
 18. I’m Jake from Telltale Games and I’m clawing my way onto PlayStation.Blog to bring you up to speed with our latest game series. While some of our previous games like Back to the Future: The Game have been pretty light-hearted, we couldn’t have gone darker than our next project, a five part episodic series based on Robert Kirkman’s Eisner award-winning comic book series, The Walking Dead. First, the good news: The first episode of The Walking Dead, ‘A New Day,’ will arrive on PSN this Tuesday, April 24th. Each episode will cost $4.99 on the PlayStation Store, and you’ll be able to pre-purchase the entire five-episode season for $19.99 to save $4.99 off of the total season price and nab an exclusive PS3 premium theme (head to the bottom of the post for more details). 20. As the temperature is rising (at least here in the Bay Area), so too rises the intensity of gaming news coming out. You no doubt saw the reveal of God of War: Ascension on Thursday. 23. Though Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has been available in arcades since earlier this year in the States (and back into September in Japan), the revamped PS3 version brings numerous new characters and a new training mode that re-imagines the series' previously established mini-games. While the main fighting mechanics of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will feel familiar to anyone acquainted with the series’ staccato combat style, the console version introduces a few new ways to lock horns with worthy competitors. You can now fight opponents in several configurations -- two against two, two against one, and one against one -- and each of these modes is available at any time. In matches that pit one character against two, the disadvantaged player receives a more generous life bar but obviously cannot switch fighters when the going gets rough. More...
