Question about tethering with the iPhone

What I want to do basically is tether internet from my 3GS iPhone to my netbook. The only reason I want to do this is I have a big money league draft on the 31st for Fantasy Baseball and it starts at the same time my night class does...There isn't a WAP close enough to the room, I've explored that option before. The only route would be to buy a satellite internet card which would cost a pretty penny or I could just tether from my iPhone.

 

I remember hearing people online saying they do this all the time on the road and whatnot.

 

How do you do it?

 

Will it cost me a service charge?

 

I'd just do the draft from my iPhone, but it doesn't properly display the draft board on the screen.

I know you can do it if you jailbreak. The app in Cydia you have to donate before you can use it. I hope this helps.

I just tried that and when I went to download the AT&T version it gave me a "invalid profile error." Any suggestions?

Thanks everyone for your help. I figured it out with the help of a friend. I cannot believe how FAST it is to jailbreak the iPhone now. Took literally 15 seconds, that's insane lol. I was then able to enable Internet Tethering and it's working great right this moment.

Yeah it's super easy I've been doing it for alot of buddies and their friends for along time now. Make sure you hop on youtube and look up adding all sources for cydia and add cydia.hackulo.us (i think that's right) also there you will find some good stuff.

Not quite the right thinking there money... you are talking about piracy for software like adobe, M$ etc...

 

This is not against the law, I dont even think is it against TOS with the Cell phone carriers.

Almost as bad huh. I'm just waiting for the day I wake up outside with unmarked black vans sitting outside my house be I have a jailbroke iphone. It's just something I have to live with every day of my life I guess.

Oh and your right it doesn't violate the TOS just voids your warranty on the phone.
