Cheaters and griefers aren’t looked upon well in the Old West and Rockstar Games is looking to solve the problem in an upcoming update to Red Dead Redemption for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The title update looks to solve the problem of cheater in the multiplayer portions of the game by introducing measures to counter hacking and cheating.* Those that are caught face being banned from playing Red Dead Redemption’s multiplayer for a period that Rockstar will determine. Griefers are also being dealt with in the “Free Roam” portion of the game by giving player’s the option to flee or respawn in another area of the map if they are being bullied.* Players who kill others will also have the law set upon them after getting a six kill streak in Free Roam.* They will be tagged as “Most Wanted” as well to let other players know their status as a player-killer. So when will this title update arrive?* Within the next month according to RockStar. What do you think of the measures to be put in place for Red Dead Redemption?* Have you had problems with cheaters and griefers? Score: 0 (0 votes cast) Urgent Fury Command: More...

SOE’s opened sign-ups to the online beta of DC Universe Online. When you do sign-up on the game’s official website, you’re given the choice of having the beta on PC or PlayStation 3. There’s more through here. The MMO, announced during Sony’s press conference back at E3 in 2008, looks set to release in November for PS3 and PC with a $15 per month sub fee. The two main developers behind Call of Duty have tonight debunked rumours that a subscription plan to play the series online will be coming into play in the near future. Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward and its community manager Robert Bowling tweeted: “For the record, nobody has to pay to play COD or MW2 multiplayer, nor will they.†This has since been followed up by Josh Olin, community boss of Treyarch, who’s developing this year’s iteration in the series Black Ops. The tweet says: “No, you will not have to ‘Pay to Play’ #CODBlackOps Multiplayer either. Rumor -> Squashed.†It comes as a user from 360Junkies posted a video earlier this morning, where he tried to join a friend’s multiplayer session of Modern Warfare 2. Instead, a menu for a subscription plan for the game was shown instead. But there you have it. Dead. In the water. Like a drowning pigeon. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) Urgent Fury Command: More...

EA is to extend Medal of Honor’s multiplayer beta for PS3 and PC. No end date was mentioned for the taster on the game’s website. As for the beta’s 360 version, the only piece of info provided on that was: “We are continuing to work with Microsoft on the Xbox 360 beta and are dedicated to delivering it as soon as possible.†Medal of Honor releases on October 12 in the US, and on October 15 in the UK for PS3, 360 and PC. Looks like there’s no smoke without fire. The video apparently shows a “membership†plan for Call of Duty, via Modern Warfare 2. If a video recorded by a 360Junkies member is to be believed, the sub-plan would be payable via MS points. The video shows the player trying to join a multiplayer session in the game via a friend’s gamercard, as detailed below. “I was trying to join a friend’s session on MW2 the other day and had this screen pop up. It clearly says at the top of this menu: ‘Modern Warfare 2 Membersh’, in which we can confidently assume that the last word is “Membershipsâ€. If you’ll notice at the bottom is an option to “Add Microsoft Pointsâ€, clearly indicating that this was intended to be a menu for purchasing different levels of Membership, presumably memberships would have been offered in a variety of durations.†Remember, this could be anything. Those wanting to get in on Spec Ops: The Line early, 2K is now taking signups through a beta site, but the test will run for the Xbox 360 only. And, it should be noted, signing up does not guarantee you a spot in the multiplayer beta, whenever that rolls out. It’s very mucha closed beta, which means you’ll need both a Gold account on Xbox Live and to sign an a non-disclosure agreement that vows you won’t take screengrabs or video from the demo. Interested? Head on over. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) Urgent Fury Command: More...

We didn’t get a really good sense of how Bizarre Creations’ new James Bond title actually plays during its announcement trailer, or in the debut screens from yesterday. At face value, it’s another action-packed third-person shooter, but with 007 in the spotlight. Fast-forward to this morning when an off-screen video taken from yesterday’s London Activision press event hit the web, showing a near 7-minute live demo. Take it all in. Were you looking closely during that footage? It would appear Bizarre took some hints from Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell: Conviction, as I very clearly spy a mark & execute-esque gunplay feature. Not to mention the fast-paced cover movement and hand-to-hand combat. Not too shabby. And the visuals — I have to confess myself impressed. Didn’t expect that. Towards the end you can also get a feel for the excellent driving sections, which Bizarre are masters of, as well. Looks good, don’t you think? James Bond 007: Blood Stone is set to arrive this holiday. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) Urgent Fury Command: More...

Posted by Grace Chen // Senior Manager, PlayStation Store We’ve got exciting news for PlayStation Plus members! On Tuesday, July 20, an exclusive demo of Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days will be available for automatic delivery to your PlayStation 3 system, just for PlayStation Plus subscribers. The demo is available exclusively to PlayStation Plus members for one week on the PlayStation Store — both by automatic download and from the storefront. The demo will be available to all PlayStation Store users on Tuesday, July 27. IMPORTANT: To receive the automatic download, make sure to turn on the “Automatic Download†feature in the “Settings –> “System Settings†menu on the XMB. You can select a timeframe (2-hour interval) you want the PS3 system to check for available downloads. Here are some things to know: You must be an active PlayStation Plus subscriber to enjoy the convenience of automatic downloads (which also delivers firmware updates and game patches). If you turn on the Automatic Download feature before Monday, July 19, expect to have the Kane & Lynch demo pushed to your system July 20th or 21st. during the timeframe you designate in your settings. If you turn on the feature between July 20 – 27, you can expect to have the demo pushed to your system within 24 hours, during the timeframe you designate in your setting. You’ll get the demo more quickly if your PS3 is not turned on during the timeframe you designate to check for updates, because the auto download feature of PlayStation Plus looks for content while your PS3 system is turned off. The demo will also be published to the PlayStation Plus section of PlayStation Store during our weekly store publish on Tuesday 7/20. Again, this will be available only for PlayStation Plus members. Here’s how it works. The Automatic Download feature: turns on your PS3 system every 48 hours (during the timeframe you designate) checks for content downloads anything available to your PS3 shuts off your PS3 system [*]If your system is on during the timeframe you designate to check for updates, your PS3 will check for updates after it is turned off, during its next designated timeframe. This will likely be 24 – 48 hours later. [*]If you already have the demo on your system, PlayStation Plus will not push the demo to your system. (This is true even if you get the demo and then delete it.) [*]If you haven’t subscribed to PlayStation Plus, there is a 12-month package available for $49.99 and a 3-month package for $17.99. If you purchase the 12-month package now, you get a bonus three months for no additional charge. [*]Visit the PlayStation Plus section of PlayStation Store to see the great discounts and free games that are being offered in PS Plus. Here’s some info on the demo: Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days is a raw and brutal crime shooter that redefines the way you experience gaming, delivering an unmatched sense of realism and intensity. The demo includes relentless action in single player and online multiplayer. Play as psychopath Lynch, wanted by the entire underworld and on the run in the backstreets and rooftops of Shanghai. And play Fragile Alliance, the acclaimed multiplayer heist game based on greed, betrayal & revenge, now extended with more risk and more rewards. Get in, steal the loot, and get out in 4 minutes, but trust no one. Score: +1 (1 vote cast) Urgent Fury Command: More...

James Bond is a man of action. Mere screenshots can’t do his daring justice. But a trailer? Now we’re talking. See Bond run, gun and generally blow things up good in the first trailer for James Bond 007: Blood Stone. It’s the kind of stuff that will leave fans of Her Majesty’s top super-spy shaken and stirred. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) Urgent Fury Command: More...
