  1. To start off the New Year Konami has announced the full title of Silent Hill 8, Silent Hill: Downpour. Little details were given but MTV Multiplayer was able to get a few snippets from the Game Informer story. The first big addition* is side quests which the main character Murphy Pendleton can perform for the denizens of Silent Hill. The other big break* is the game being developed by Czech developer Vatra Games. Brian Gomez also gave other tid-bits about Downpour such as the game having no ties to the previous games aside from the location. Gomez also told MTV that the adjustable camera from Homecoming has been done away with in place with the classic fixed angles of past games. If Vatra Games can pull it off I will be once again cowering in fear as I play Silent Hill. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) Urgent Fury Command: More...
  2. I will say that the real root on this is the publishers are trying to recover lost revenue on the purchase of used media. If you are a user that normally purchases a used game vs a new game where the publisher actually make their money. Publishers really do not get anything out of a used game sale.
  3. Killzone 3 looks like an impressive first-person shooter, but I sense some apathy out there. FPS games… there are so many of them. This trailer helps. There’s more drama now; a power vacuum at the high ranks of the Helghast military (the result of Killzone 2′s unusual finale). The official PlayStation blog names the squabbling Helghast leaders and their famous voice-actors: “Malcolm McDowell, who plays the scheming Stahl Arms CEO, and Ray Winstone, who plays the gruff Helghast Admiral.” On the ground, the heroes of the last Killzone — including our playable character, Sev — appear to be conflicted about whether to surrender or run. The plot in this trailer isn’t complex. But it has drive. It makes me care about what will happen. Not something I could say about a Killzone game before. Killzone 3 comes out next month for the PlayStation 3. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) Urgent Fury Command: More...
  4. Issues plaguing Red Dead Redemption and its Undead Nightmare and Liars & Cheats add-ons (both disc-based and downloads) should be nipped in the bud today, Rockstar reports. Upon booting up the game, users will be prompted with a mandatory download, that resolves issues including the inability to unlock certain Achievements or Trophies, and a glitch in which players would get stuck in the environment, especially when sitting down at specific Liar’s Dice chairs. It’s quite a large list of fixes, so hit up the link below for the full list. Of course, this update won’t correct the behavior of all the vicious, murderous wildlife in the game. We’re afraid that’s a problem you (and your trusty six-shooter) will have to resolve on your own. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) Urgent Fury Command: More...
  5. The occupied-America shooter Homefront will require THQ’s Online Pass – a one use code that comes free in retail copies of the game – to access the game’s online multiplayer. But accommodations will be made for renters or used-copy purchasers. Those without a valid code may still play online multiplayer on all maps, but may only advance to level 5 (out of 75 in the game’s ranking structure), reports Shacknews. There is no time limit on how long they may play, only the level cap. THQ’s Online Pass, first implemented with UFC Undisputed 2010, costs $10 for someone who buys a used copy of Homefront with an expired or nonexistent code. It’s similar to Electronic Arts’ “Project $10″ and the EA Sports Online Pass. The program effectively gives publishers a cut of used sales, if a used buyer wants the complete game, anyway. 8. David Vonderhaar has posted details of future updates of Call of Duty Black Ops on the official forum, revealing possible changes*Treyarch are considering. One of which will give the person who ‘downs’ a Second Chance user the full kill credit, while the player who finishes the player off gets an assist. Also the Second Chance user can only be revived once. I had hoped by this time in the game life-cycle we would be engaged in a series of constructive debates about the game tuning. Tweaking a few things one way or the other. These are*some*of the*key*things on our minds. The ones in bold are done already as of Jan 5th. We think the AK74U grip variant re-center speed is too quick. Although the tuning in line with other grip variant weapons, the gun itself has a very perfectible kick and other attributes or attachments that make it a popular weapon to use. We have slightly de-tuned the AK74u grip for version 1.06. We are considering giving full kill credit to the guy who drops someone in Second Chance and Assist credit for someone who finishes them off. We are also considering allowing you to only be revived one time. We are even considering increasing the revive time. - Forum users like to complain about the “invulnerability period” when someone is dropping. I went through the script over and over again. At least in script, nothing like this exists. Forum user also complain about someone can knife or use a primary when dropping. We are investigating. We are evaluating the RC-XD minimum and maximum damage and damage radius and it’s movement speed. Changing the kill requirement isn’t feasible at this time. We are largely okay with the sniper rifle and knife tuning at this time. No changes are currently planned for either of these for version 1.06. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) Urgent Fury Command: More...
  9. While Sony’s Consumer Electronics Show conference may have been rather light on Playstation announcements – notably the Playstation Phone – CES attendants were treated to a 3D viewing of Uncharted 3. The trailer was virtually identical to the VGA announcement trailer, but featured a few fleeting new scenes at the end of the video, which can be seen below. 10. The DC Universe Online beta goes out with a bang today, with tonight’s cataclysmic “Battle of the Legends” paving the way for the MMO’s January 11 launch. Will you side with Batman and Superman, or The Joker and Lex Luthor? The end of beta testing is a big event for a massively multiplayer online role-playing game, the last hurrah before the servers are wiped clean and everyone starts fresh on launch day. Sony Online Entertainment plans on making this one memorable, giving players the chance to take part in the biggest battles the game has yet seen. Superman faces off against Lex Luthor. Batman and The Joker stage a major showdown. Comics legend Jim Lee takes on IGN. Yeah, that last bit was a little puzzling to me as well. Apparently Jim Lee, AKA Future Batman, will be taking on some of IGN writers during the event, with regular beta testers able to join the battle to help one side or the other triumph. Check out the complete schedule for U.S. PlayStation 3 and PC servers: US Beta Servers – Wednesday January 5 PC BETA 1 / Wednesday January 5 / 5PM PT / Botanical Gardens (Batman vs. Joker) or Centennial Park (Superman vs. Lex) PS3 BETA 2 / Wednesday January 5 / 5PM PT / Botanical Gardens (Batman vs. Joker) or Centennial Park (Superman vs. Lex) PC BETA 3 / Wednesday January 5 / 6PM PT / Botanical Gardens (Batman vs. Joker) or Centennial Park (Superman vs. Lex) *Come join the battle and fight alongside or against Jim Lee aka Future Batman in this event as he takes on Greg Miller from IGN and his league of wanna be villains! 11. The PS Blog’s posted up the latest video of DC Universe Online, showing off another “alert”. That’s “instance,” to everyone else in MMO-land. As Elliott Linger, European product manager, has it: “‘Alerts’, for those of you that don’t know, are high action, quick grouping, experiences where you can get together with your friends (whether they’re playing as a hero or villain) and, as a team, embark on unique in-game missions.” Instances, then. The PAL version releases on January 12 for PC and PS3, and is currently in beta. Take a look. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) Urgent Fury Command: More...
  12. Call of Duty publisher Activision has been talking about new ways to make even more money from its shoot ‘em up cashcow for years. A new report makes it sound like a new way to play Call of Duty online is imminent. The analysts at Wedbush Securities believe that Activision is set to reveal a new “tier” of Call of Duty online multiplayer within the next three months. “Activision remains a top pick, primarily due to the company’s potential to create and monetize a second tier of multiplayer online gaming for its Call of Duty franchise,” Wedbush analysts write in their January 2011 newsletter. “We expect this to occur during the first quarter of 2011.” Yes, that’s pretty soon and, yes, they’re being awfully specific. If accurate, that new way to play Call of Duty in some capacity may represent Activision’s desires to deliver that “high-margin digital online content and further the brand as the leading action entertainment franchise in new geographies, new genres and with new digital business models.” That was the company’s plan as of March 2010. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops still do big numbers in online multiplayer and big sales of retail copies. But Activision brass has bemoaned the limited number of ways they can sell goods to the Call of Duty-playing masses after they invest in the game, map packs notwithstanding. Activision CEO Bobby Kotick has been thinking about “the natural evolution of a property like Call of Duty into a massively-multiplayer environment” for some time, taking cues from World of Warcraft makers Blizzard. The company may also see the ongoing success that developer Valve has had with games like Team Fortress 2, which recently began selling in-game goods to an audience willing to spend, and want some of those dollars. The Call of Duty publisher (and its developers) claim the boxed, retail copies of games in the series will never carry a subscription fee to play their online components. Of course, there are many other options the company can pursue beyond the box. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) Urgent Fury Command: More...
  13. Fyi no Sites on the UF server have been affected, but as Dub stated it is not a host issue, it is a folder security issue by the site owner.
  14. Nope it is not Urgent Fury Specific... it happened net wide there is a robot out there looking for folders and files that are not secure. But believe it for not, it is a 5 minute fix and your forums are back up... At least we know that now.
  15. Yah Irish, I talked with Sniper today... my post above was more for the community as a whole since many are using SMF
  16. The issue with Raven Fall acutally matched what happened to another clan's forum from Urgent Fury and several SMF forum users accross the net... look at the top of your php files and look for a line of code that says: <?php /**/eval(base64_decode('lots of junk')); ?> I replaced the letters, numbers, etc with lots of junk to protect the info of the forums that were affected... but after decoding the junk it will tell you where the affected file is and all you have to do is delete it. It is extremely important that you set your files with a minimum security setting of 755 or better. This will make your files unwritable by the average Joe... and you will be less likely to be hacked. This concludes your web security training courtesy of www.urgentfury.net
  17. EA and Dice have supported their game, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, more than any other FPS out last year. There were a total of seven free map-packs released since the game launched back in March. Then, in December, they released the much-anticipated ‘Vietnam’ expansion pack. Looking to start the New Year off with a bang, Battlefield Bad Company 2 got yet another new map for all of us to enjoy. Late last year, EA and Dice offered up a challenge to all BFBC 2 players. If gamers could get 69 million team challenge points then a new map would be unlocked, completely free.* Although it does not seem that the challenge was met, Dice has decided to unlock the map anyways for the New Year. The new map, Operation Hastings, is a remake of one of the most popular maps from 2004’s Battlefield: Vietnam. Offering two unique areas of battle separated by a bridge, the Operation Hastings map will offer some unique battle scenarios, while including all the mayhem Battlefield fans have come to love. 18. As promised, mobile sensation Angry Birds has landed on the PlayStation 3 (and PSP), due to be released as part of this week’s PlayStation Store update. The game, which has moved well over 20 million copies across various mobile phone platforms, will be released as a PlayStation mini title, meaning it can be played on either a PlayStation 3 console or a PlayStation Portable. Why release a game that’s sold so many copies on a hardcore gaming console, you may ask? Hasn’t it sold all it can sell? Well, “hardcore gamers” may well be the last people on earth who haven’t played the game, so it should do OK on Sony’s consoles. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) Urgent Fury Command: More...
  19. I will get with Sniper and see if it was the same issue that happened to a few others

  22. All you had to do Street is intoduce yourself and one of the members from SocomIV.com and then I would have known that you were a legit dude...
  23. Its all about the entry... you are comparing yourself to a member of the community that has been here for years posting a link to the new monitor he bought vs your post to watch your video... You did not even take the time to introduce yourself, ask about the community, tell us about what games you play in, team you play with, etc... That is why it looks like spam... you did this: All I am saying is how about setting up a first post to tell people about you instead of driving traffic to your video.
  24. Well trying to figure out how this monitor applies to console gaming and well the depends review, really... are you at least in a gaming clan coming to UF or something... just trying to figure out where you came from as this was your first post... Tow are you behind this?
