Treyarch released Call of Duty: Black Ops patch 1.04 to the Playstation 3 early this morning in the hopes of fixing many lingering issues with player connections for multiplayer games and other issues.* So far the patch doesn’t appear to have done the trick as gamers are complaining about many of the same problems with some of them turning out worse. Owners of the PS3 shooter have hit the official Call of Duty forums, the Playstation forums and elsewhere to voice their frustrations with the game.* It isn’t clear yet if this is a case of only those negatively affected complaining but there appears to be enough in common between the complaints to cause concerns. Players are reporting long waits to to find games to connect with, being dropped from lobbies multiple times, getting dropped from games and other issues such as hard resets.* Host migration also appears to be an issue when the host disconnects whether intentionally or not. Taken 1 hour to play 1.5 games of TDM. When they’re actually running, they run really well. But finding a game was frustrating to the max. Often it would do the countdown and get to 0..then do nothing, and sit on the lobby screen with nothing happening. oh and dont even get me started on hard resets. so here’s the stats: 1hr 15mins of time with the ps3 on 11 failure to connect to host 13 times it just couldnt find a lobby (despite 76,000 people in the game list) 2 hard resets booted from 6 games games played 4 domination and 5 tdm. The NAT (Network Address Translation) appears to be one of the main culprits as many are reporting showing a ‘Strict’ or ‘Moderate’ NAT status online with the game.* Some users have suggested changing the router settings for the PS3 to put it in DMZ to help with that. The problems do not appear to be as rampant over on the Xbox 360 side of the Black Ops pond but it was more stable to begin with.* However, platforms appear to share an unwelcome undocumented change.* The ability to mute players in the lobby has been removed. Call of Duty: Black Ops is finally getting the massive patch that was promised for the PS3 earlier with Treyarch and Sony making the announcement that the patch will hit the Playstation Network early Tuesday morning. Update: The patch is now live.* Let us know what you think of it in the comments. The patch is scheduled to hit at 5AM EST / 2AM PST.* No word on when the promised Xbox 360 and PC patch will hit.* All three game platforms have different hurdles to cross before being approved and made available to download.* It looks like the PS3 was the winner of this particular race. This is actually probably refreshing news for PS3 owners as the multiplayer has been so riddled with problems that some gamers have taken to petitioning for their money back.* We’ll have to wait and see if this patch improves things to their satisfaction. As a refresher, here’s the list of fixes and gameplay balances for Black Ops included with Patch 1.04 for the PS3. Issues Addressed: Resolved several issues with parties getting disbanded unexpectedly. Additional measures to prevent the “Transmission error” and other disconnects. This was most likely to occur with large parties where party members had mixed NAT types. (PS3 only) Addressed an issue with VOIP icons not appearing when USB headsets were plugged in prior to game launch. (PS3 only) Updated handling for UPnP-enabled routers to improve matchmaking conditions where users had strict or moderate NAT types. Also added in-game communications so that all players are aware of their NAT type in the Player Match party lobby. Addressed issue that prevented the “Load MP by Default” option from saving when other specific option combinations were set. (Xbox 360 only) Prevention of exploit that allowed players to keep custom classes and killstreaks after prestige. Addressed an issue where Flak Jacket Pro would not always protect against ground fires left by Napalm Strikes. Prevention of users losing their killstreak reward when switching classes at the start of a new round in round-based game modes. Addressed an issue where the incorrect perks would appear when spectating another player under certain circumstances. Added round start explosive delay to China Lake grenade launcher to give it the same round start limitations as other explosives. Contracts will now reset when the player Prestiges. Prevention of Valkyrie rocket exploding upon release under rare conditions. Prevention of Gunship failing to give player full control under rare conditions. Prevention of an issue where a player will get teleported outside the map boundaries under very specific circumstances. Additional security measures to enhance detection and banning capabilities. Gameplay Tuning: Limit the ability to re-roll supply drops using Hardline Pro to Care Packages only, no other killstreak drops. Added a negative influencer to all spawn points to decrease the chances of spawning near an enemy. This will further improve spawning protection on top of previous updates. Additional sound mix tuning for Ninja Pro users – increased ranges and volume of enemy footsteps, and removed player footstep sounds on concrete material types. Increased headshot multipliers for sniper rifles. Sniper rifles with suppressors equipped will now always be ensured one-shot kill headshots. Subtle increase in sniper rifle accuracy when scoping in. Added a render delay to the red diamond player indicators that appear when controlling the Gunship, Valkyrie Rocket and Chopper Gunner. Konami representatives confirmed with Joystiq tonight that X-Men Arcade will be arriving in North America on PlayStation Network tomorrow December 14th, while Xbox Live Arcade gets it the next day. We originally reported that the game had a two-month window of exclusivity on Xbox Live Arcade, per Konami reps speaking with Eurogamer. It appears that this report is not the case, at least for the game’s North American release — US-based Konami reps couldn’t confirm European release dates for X-Men Arcade as of publishing. Furthermore, the game was given a December 26 North American launch date by Konami reps speaking to GameFocus in a recent video interview. Since the interview, however, the PSN launch date has been moved up and North Americans can get their co-op Magneto murdering in a full 12 days earlier.
