Tomorrow, we’re pleased to launch our second major PS5 system software update to all PS5 owners globally. The update includes a variety of enhancements to the PS5 console experience as well as 3D audio support for built-in TV speakers. It also features M.2 SSD storage expansion, which enables PS5 players to store and play PS5 games, PS4 games, and media apps directly from the expanded high-speed storage. We’re also expanding mobile features with support for PS Remote Play over mobile networks starting tomorrow, and the ability to view Share Screen broadcasts on PS App beginning next Thursday, Sept. 23. Thanks to everyone in the community who participated in our system update beta — your support and feedback was valuable. Here are some of the key new features coming to PS5, PS4 and our mobile apps: Play Video PS5 September System Software Update Features PS5 UX Enhancements The PS5 September Update features new UX enhancements that make it easier than ever for players to view, personalize and manage their game content and console experience: Control Center customization. Players can now customize their Control Center more freely by rearranging or choosing which controls to hide or unhide at the bottom of the screen. Enhanced Game Base. Players can now easily view and write messages to friends and Parties directly from Game Base in the Control Center. While viewing Game Base in full screen, players can also see how many of their friends are online, busy, or offline, as well as accept, decline or cancel multiple friend requests at once. Game Library and Home Screen updates. If you have PS4 and PS5 versions of the same game installed, they’ll now appear separately in the “Installed” tab of the Game Library and on the Home screen. Each game’s tile now also clearly indicates its platform. Screen Reader controls. Players can now pause or resume Screen Reader (Press “PS + Triangle buttons”) and have it repeat anything it reads (Press “PS + R1 buttons”). New Gaming and Social Experience Customizations PlayStation Now resolution selector and connection test tool. PlayStation Now subscribers can choose between 720p or 1080p (depending on individual game) to accommodate their preferred video resolution for game streaming. A streaming connection test also helps them identify and troubleshoot any problems with their connection. New Accolade Type: “Leader.” Following an online match, players can award others with a fourth accolade type, “Leader,” which is visible on players’ profiles. Automatic capture of “personal best” videos. When players compete in challenges for a better time or a higher score and set a new personal best, a video clip of the action will automatically be recorded. Players can also share clips of their personal bests directly from the challenge card in the Control Center, or from their Media Gallery. Players have direct control over this functionality via their Captures and Broadcast settings. New Trophy tracker. We’ve added a new Trophy Tracker that lets players quickly access up to five trophies per game through the Control Center. 3D Audio Support for Built-In TV Speakers The PS5 September Update adds support for players to experience 3D audio through their built-in TV speakers. Once enabled in the Sound menu, this feature transforms standard two-channel TV speaker audio into three-dimensional sound, heightening the sense of gameplay immersion.* Players can measure the acoustics of their room using the microphone on their DualSense wireless controller to apply the 3D audio setting that’s optimized for their room.** 3D audio via compatible headsets on PS5 has been a popular feature among fans and developers. We’re thrilled to bring this feature to life for players directly through their built-in TV speakers, in addition to the headset support that’s been available since launch. In addition, players with a Pulse 3D Wireless Headset now have access to equalizer settings within Sound Controls, allowing them to customize the sound profile according to their preference. M.2 SSD Storage Expansion Starting tomorrow, PS5 players around the globe can expand their storage capacity with an M.2 SSD, a type of high-speed solid state drive that can be installed in the PS5 console or PS5 Digital Edition console. Once installed in the PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition console, M.2 SSD storage can be used to download, copy, and launch PS5 and PS4 games, as well as media apps. You can play PS5 and PS4 games directly from M.2 SSD storage and freely move games between storage options. Important: M.2 SSDs must meet the minimum performance and size requirements outlined on this page. Using an M.2 SSD also requires effective heat dissipation with a cooling structure (such as a heatsink) that meets the dimensional requirements. Please read the page linked above carefully before purchasing any M.2 SSD or cooling structure for use with PS5. Here’s a look at how to install an M.2 SSD in your PS5 console: Play Video PS Remote Play App and PS App Enhancements PS Remote Play App over mobile networks With the PS Remote Play app, players have enjoyed the ability to remotely stream and play PS4 and PS5 games, switch between games, and browse their console’s menus on any compatible device connected to their broadband network.*** Now, players using the mobile app for iOS and Android have the option of using a mobile data connection when WiFi is not available. Broadband internet with at least 5Mbps is required for PS Remote Play. For the best experience, we recommend a high-speed connection with upload and download speeds of at least 15 Mbps. To help manage the amount of data used through a mobile connection, players can select their preferred video quality for mobile data streaming. Please note the quality and connectivity of your Remote Play experience may vary depending on your mobile carrier network and network environment. View Share Screen broadcasts on PS App Starting next Thursday, Sept. 23, a PS App update will begin rolling out globally and give users the ability to view their friends’ Share Screen broadcasts together. To start, join a party voice chat from your mobile device with a friend who’s playing on a PS5 console. Then ask your friend on PS5 to start their Share Screen broadcast. Please note, only players on PS5 can broadcast via Share Screen. The Android version of the update is a phased release and may take one week until the update is available on your mobile device. PS4 Console Enhancements We’re also introducing some new features for PS4, including the ability for players to view their PS5 trophies on their PS4 profile and Trophy list. Players can also view other players’ PS5 trophies on PS4. On both PS4 and PS5 consoles, Party owners now also have the ability to disband a Party without having to remove players individually. Which feature are you most excited for? Let us know in the comments. *3D audio for built-in TV speakers needs to be enabled manually through the Sound menu in the PS5 console’s system settings (it’s off by default). **A DualSense wireless controller update releasing alongside the PS5 September update is required to activate this feature. ***For supported devices and compatibility requirements, please visit: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/remote-play/. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/7HCrA7G-nqAView the full article

Greetings everyone. We are Acme Gamestudio, an independent developer from Taiwan. Today, we’re happy to introduce Asterigos, a 3D action RPG set in a high fantasy world, featuring exhilarating battle encounters, interconnected maps full of adventure for you to explore and an immersive story. Play Video It starts with a young warrior embarking on a quest Hilda, a brave Northwind Legion warrior, seeks to find her lost father and enters the mythical cursed city of Aphes. She would come to realize the rise— and fall—of a great city, witness history in the making, and face difficult choices which would shape the entire kingdom’s fate. Explore the magnificent city of Aphes The game’s events unfold in Aphes, a city-state inspired by ancient Rome and classical Greek designs, and is full of magic and wonder. From the mist-covered bazaar streets to gloomy sewers, the enigmatic forests at the city’s outskirts to deep chasms full of glittering crystals, the landscapes of Aphes are full of beauty and dangers. Poisonous vines could choke you to death, or deadly arrow traps will injure the unwary. And deadly creatures lurk in the shadows: werewolves who will launch surprise attacks from the rooftops overhead, axe-wielding brutes… even a fire-breathing calydonian boar. Take on enemies with skill and style Hilda’s combat options are heavily tied to her character progression. The talent system allows you to pick and expand your combat style by choosing two out of six completely different weapons: sword and shield, dual blades, spear, hammer, staff or magic bracelets. For example, the dual blades are swift weapons that can help you dive in and out of combat quickly, whereas the magic staff is tailored to long distance, letting you shoot fireballs from a safe distance to defeat the enemy before they approach. There are over 60 different monsters to fight, and over 20 unique boss encounters to challenge. Customize your combat style and skills to vanquish them! Story and character development matter We want to portray Hilda as a young, brave, yet brash warrior based on the medieval-fantasy style of adventurer. She is naive, pure, but also kindhearted and impulsive. Her journey in Aphes will lead her to discover the truth behind the city’s curse, letting you piece together its history through conversations, discovered documents and cinematics, as well as Hilda’s own diary, which she’ll update with sketches and observations during her journey. As a Northwind Warrior, all her weapons are handmade by Hilda and will shapeshift based on her moves during combat. For example, her staff will transform when you activate its sniper-like attack, or her shield will expand as it unleashes magical, defensive barriers. Stay tuned for more news updates in the coming months. Asterigos will be coming to PS4 by late spring 2022, with an enhanced PS5 version due in autumn. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/64OKu6GCPgQView the full article

Fortnite fans, Dr. Slone’s Operation: Sky Fire was a success (at your expense…), and the war between the IO and Alien forces is now over. But we got some news to go with that. The operation uncovered a new threat even greater than the Aliens… the Cubes! These speechless yet sentient creatures have cruel intentions for the Island, so now it’s time to get ready for another fight in Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8: Cubed! It’s time to go Sideways The Sideways… A malevolent, dark, and monster-filled reality awaits you in Chapter 2: Season 8. The Cubes have spread Sideways Anomalies throughout the Island. These strange portals connect the Island to The Sideways. This mysterious world isn’t just connecting with the Island — it’s bleeding into it, taking over a certain POI each match and turning it into a “Sideways Zone.” Wield the Sideways weapons Sure, you’ll face mobs of Cube Monsters after entering a Sideways Anomaly, but besting them in combat will reward you with ever so powerful Sideways Weapons. Also make sure to collect Cube Monster Parts: a dark crafting ingredient that gives you the power to upgrade your Sideways weapons. Get in, collect, and get out before you’re eliminated by the swarms of monsters. Sideways Zones work a bit differently. Monsters don’t fight in waves, and Sideways weapons can be found as loot. What’s special about Sideways weapons? The Sideways Rifle and Sideways Minigun will deal bonus damage when they’re close to overheating. Join the global effort When we said it will take the effort of everyone to win this war, we meant it. How can you contribute to the war effort? There’ll be a variety of ways throughout the Season, but to start, players in the community can donate Bars to the construction sites where they’d like to see Turret Stations built. Later on, it’ll be up to the community to help decide which new weapons to develop, which ones to unvault, and more. More ways to arm yourself Diving into the Sideways and donating your Bars is not the only way to properly arm yourself this Season. Nuts & Bolts are still around, so turn the Lever Action Shotgun into the pressurized Charge Shotgun, or make your combat more stealthy by turning the Assault Rifle into the Suppressed Assault Rifle. Classic weapons like the Automatic Sniper Rifle and Harpoon Gun have also been brought back! All of these goodies can pack a punch, but it still won’t be enough to take down this formidable Cubic force. Be on the lookout for more tools arriving throughout the Season that could very well give you the edge. Cubic conquest The Cubes have gathered themselves around the wreckage of the Mothership. Shockingly, some of the Mothership’s technologies still work. In fact, its anti-grav tunnels are capable of transporting groups around in loops. Some of the Cube’s dark powers can be used in our favor. Anyone who consumes a Shadow Stone scattered amidst the rubble will temporarily become a shadow-like apparition, making it possible to move more secretly. The Island’s residents need our help Over the weeks, Characters on the Island will appear and provide you with a Punch Card full of missions they need your help with. For starters, help Dark Jonesy uncover the secrets of the Kevolution facility, and give Charlotte a hand in investigating the IO. Also, complete Quests with your squad via Party Quests! Party Quests can be picked up by interacting with certain Characters or Phone Booths during your adventures. Party Quests will also appear in your daily log. You share Party Quest rewards with everyone in your party — completing them is a great way for you and your squad to collect Bars! The Cubes are using their dark powers to try to take over the Island. Fight for the Island’s survival in Chapter 2 Season 8: Cubed. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/_JBRNVZXVO8View the full article

It’s the 93rd minute of a bruising UEFA Champions League final. You pick the ball up on the halfway line and start running towards the goal, battling through the fatigue. But the roar of the crowd spurs you on. From the edge of the box, you blast it towards the goal and feel the sensation of the ball hitting the back of the net. The celebrations begin, the trophy is secured. In FIFA 22, you’ll not only feel the rhythm of the match in your hands with the DualSense controller, but you’ll also hear it with 3D Audio that wraps you in the sounds of the stadium. From the DualSense controller to 3D Audio and our brand new next-gen HyperMotion gameplay technology, here’s how we’re using PlayStation 5 hardware to create an experience that’s Powered by Football in FIFA 22. Play Video Haptic feedback In FIFA 21, we used the DualSense controller to truly let you experience the effects of stamina through adaptive triggers, and haptic feedback that reflected the physicality of a tough tackle or the feeling of the ball hitting the crossbar. This year we’re taking it even further, adding in haptic feedback that replicates the feeling of the ball hitting the back of the net – mimicking the power of the strike and the tension of the net – to deepen the sensation of scoring a goal in FIFA 22. So when you bury one into the top corner from outside the box to win the title for your Pro Clubs squad, you’ll feel it in your palms as the crowd erupts in the stands and the celebrations begin on the pitch. Alongside haptic feedback for tackles, jostles, saves, shots, and passes that we introduced in FIFA 21, this year you’ll also feel unique vibrations for crosses, sliding, and shielding through the DualSense controller. Through the DualSense’s Adaptive Triggers, you’ll also feel the effects of stamina with increased trigger resistance that makes it harder to sprint as the match wears on – something we’ve tuned for FIFA 22. With Haptic Feedback and Adaptive Triggers, FIFA 22 lets you feel the game with a DualSense in your hands as it plays out on the pitch. 3D Audio FIFA 22 includes 3D Audio on PlayStation 5 for the first time to pull you further into the match as you hear the game from the pitch. With 3D Audio, you’ll hear team mates’ shouts in the sound mix, as well as close-up audio raised higher to match the perspective shift as the camera pans to fans in the stands. In certain leagues you’ll even hear the iconic banging drums, deafening horns, and shrill whistles from the terraces that will give you a sense of what it feels like to play football on the biggest stages. HyperMotion gameplay technology Built to harness the power of PlayStation 5, new HyperMotion gameplay technology makes every match you play across every mode in FIFA 22 even more realistic. Beyond traditional optical mocap that captures a small number of participants in a staged environment, HyperMotion’s Advanced 11v11 Match Capture allows us to capture 22 players in a high-intensity match situation. Combined with machine learning, we’ve create over 4000 new animations for FIFA 22 – directly informed by HyperMotion – which leads to our most authentic, fluid, and realistic football experience ever. In FIFA 22, you’ll notice players move with the intensity of athletes, see them approach the ball with purpose ahead of striking it, feel the physicality of the fight to win headers, witness tactical intelligence as teams move as one unit, and much more. We can’t wait for you to feel the difference HyperMotion makes to every match you play! And it’s nearly time to play, with just a few weeks to go until FIFA 22 launches. Pre-order the FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition before October 1 and you’ll get an untradeable FIFA Ultimate Team Ones To Watch player item that celebrates the transfer window’s biggest signings like David Alaba’s move to Real Madrid, along with up to four days early access, 4600 FIFA Points, Dual Entitlement that lets you play on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and more! Play Video With HyperMotion technology, 3D Audio, and Haptic Feedback on PlayStation 5 that make the game look, feel and play even more like the real thing, FIFA 22 is our most true-to-life football experience to date. Powered by Football, the FIFA 22 season kicks off on October 1. We’ll see you there. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/XLQj1HjPXsYView the full article

Our team is pleased to share the full experience of Tales of Arise with its release today, September 10! If you were wondering how to play Tales of Arise, or what could be helpful to know before you begin, this guide is for you! Our useful tips will show you how to get started with Tales of Arise and progress in the game. First, let’s talk about Battle basics. As Tales of Arise is a JRPG, you’ll have to go through lots of fights to survive and pursue your missions. Knowing how to fight and mastering Combat system basics will be key to start your journey in Tales of Arise. Combat system basics Base actions consist of normal attacks and Artes, which have been featured in the gameplay of previous Tales Of games. In Tales of Arise, we wanted to recreate this combo string and thus revived the Normal Attack mechanics. The enemy won’t simply fall and Normal Attacks are designed to create the perfect breakthrough. First, weaken the enemy with Normal Attacks. Then, continue with the Martial and Arcane Artes that will create a smooth combo flow! Press [R1] to perform a Normal Attack. Artes and Artes Gauge To use Artes in Tales of Arise, you have an Artes Gauge. For a stronger emphasis on action in combat gameplay, itis now possible to do Artes continuously using the Artes Gauge resource that recovers automatically during battle. The added balance between Normal Attacks and the option to use continuous Artes makes the flow of battle a lot more exciting. There are two types of Artes: Martial Artes and Arcane Artes. Keep in mind that Arcane Artes are more powerful and resource-consuming than Martial Artes. The Artes Gauge will recover more slowly when attacking. As you progress in the game, you will be able to increase the Artes Gauge by acquiring new skills. Press [Triangle], [Square], or [Cross] to use the arte assigned to each button. Evasion and Counter Edge Most characters can only execute a perfect evade, whereas Kisara has the special option toguard. It’s always a good idea to create distance between you and your enemy whenever possible to avoid taking damage. Push [L Stick] and press [L1] to evade an enemy attack. Another important feature is the Counter Edge. The Counter Edge was created to make the battle combos more enjoyable. With the updates in battle gameplay, we eliminated the guarding requirement that comes before the Counter Edge. After executing a successful evasion and performing a Normal Attack, you can now trigger a Counter Edge, which will make your characters perform a counterattack. Boost Attacks and Boost Strikes Each character in Tales of Arise has their own Boost Attack, which perfectly reflects their individual strengths. Involve allies in your battles to use their own Boost Attacks pressing the corresponding pad direction to damage. Boost Strikes are one-hit kill attacks performed in collaboration with other Tales of Arise characters. Boost Strikes will make your battles spectacular whether it’s a low-level enemy or boss fight. When the word “STRIKE” shows up on your screen, make sure to press the pad to trigger a Boost Strike to finish off your attacker! Now you have the keys to start your journey in Tales of Arise, which is now available! Get an enhanced Tales of Arise experience on PlayStation 5 with HD next-gen graphics, haptic feedback on the DualSense wireless controller, Game Help support, and faster load times with PlayStation 5’s SSD. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/Fu7ulSXls_wView the full article

I still clearly remember the inexplicable eagerness and excitement of that day when we introduced the first Gran Turismo game to the world for the first time on the original PS1 console. With that same inexplicable sense of excitement, I’m happy to report that Gran Turismo 7 will be available on March 4, 2022, simultaneously on both the PS5 and the PS4 consoles. The cultural environment surrounding cars has changed greatly in the past 25 years. Those of us who were born in the rich car culture of the times created the first Gran Turismo game, so it may be difficult for the current generation of automotive purists to be in the same type of cultural environment as ourselves back then. The objective for GT7 in current culture today, is to design a game to convey everything from the last 150 years of car and racing culture, whether you are a lifelong fan or discovering cars for the first time. GT7 is both the culmination of the series which answers the expectations of GT fans throughout the years, and at the same time it is a title that marks a beginning of a difficult mission to contain the full breadth of car culture from the past into a single video game. Best of Gran Turismo Experiences The name “Gran Turismo” means “Grand Touring” in Italian. Back to the 17th Century, people would go on long trips across the European continent, learning and growing at their travel destinations. The name is derived from these journeys. In the same spirit, the GT Campaign mode is also a place where individual players will take their own unique journeys and gain life learning experiences. We’re aware that long-time fans of the Gran Turismo series strongly desired the return of the GT Campaign mode*, and now, having seen the trailer, hopefully everyone will be able to get a feel for the atmosphere of the newly designed Campaign mode. Returning to the very roots of the GT Campaign mode experience, players will be starting from the GT World Map. Livery Editor Since the introduction of the Livery Editor* in GT Sport, we’ve seen millions of complex and creative designs. We were amazed with the quality of the liveries made by our fans in the Livery Editor, and their sheer quantity. Knowing this to be an important feature for our fans, our main goal for the Livery Editor in GT7 was to improve the user interface and improve utility and accessibility. Scapes When you own a car that you love, it’s only natural to want to take photos of it in different locations around the world in trying to capture that perfect shot. Scapes* allows you to have complete control of photorealistic shots using HDR technology (when you have a HDR capable display), expert level effects, and even panning shots. You will be able to photograph your car freely in photo spots across 43 countries and over 2,500 locations, and every moment captured can be shared with others that has same love and passion as you. Legendary Circuits In addition to the return of the GT Campaign mode, our historic circuits like Trial Mountain* and High-Speed Ring* will be making a comeback. You may have noticed in the trailer that these tracks are higher in detail to match the PS5 console’s power of expression, with additional work done to parts of the layout. Bringing back these circuits with a level of detail and richness that matches the PS5 consoles’ power of expression was a new challenge for the team. Car Collection The first step in truly connecting with car culture is to learn and remember the shapes and names of the cars. This is where love and passion in cars begin – FF, FR, 911, 356, transmission… interest in typical terms like these appearing in car culture only comes from first knowing and recognizing the shapes and names of the cars. Because of this, GT7 is clearly designed as a “Car Collecting Game”, even more so than the GT series of the past. The main feature of the GT Café* in the game is to navigate the player’s adventures in the world of GT, presenting a specific collection of cars that have a cultural meaning from the past, present, and future. Players will progress and complete missions in the GT Café by acquiring prize cars from various races within the world, as well as from the Brand Central and the Used Car Dealership. Tuning One of the greatest rewards in owning a car is to modify and customize it to suit your personal taste, and the smallest of changes will have different effects on the behavior of the vehicle. In GT7, players can once again start with a stock vehicle and build their car up gradually to fit their preference, through adjustments made on engine performance, suspension, transmission gearing, brakes, tires, etc. GT Auto* also makes a comeback with wheel changes, wide body modifications, addition of roll cages as well as other aerodynamic parts. And not to mention engine oil changes and car wash. Time/Weather Change Simulations The time/weather change simulation brought to life in GT7 is unique to Polyphony Digital, who researched the complexities of nature and tailored it into a video game. Referencing a massive amount of meteorological observation data, we have recreated spatial / time of day conditions for particle size distribution and concentration distribution of aerosol particles in the atmosphere on a global environmental scale, in a procedure that is unique to the Gran Turismo series. The validity of the simulation was checked using Scapes HDR images, for which we have accumulated data for several thousand spots all around the world. As a result, we have succeeded in expressing real and complex skyscapes and changes in light for different times of day and weather. We could not be more excited to deliver Gran Turismo 7 to everyone on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned as we have lots of more exciting news and information to share with in the coming weeks. * These features require internet connection. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/FIh39H6dc9gView the full article

We couldn’t be more excited here at Santa Monica Studio to finally share our first real look at God of War Ragnarök with all the fans who have been very patiently waiting for an update! As you can see in the trailer, we’re picking up a few years after the events of God of War (2018). The freezing winds of Fimbulwinter have come to Midgard, making survival for Kratos, Atreus, and Mimir in the Norse wilds even more challenging than before. While the last game built an enormous amount of trust and understanding between father and son, there is still a great deal of complexity in their interactions – especially after the revelation of Atreus’ Giant heritage and the hidden prophecy only Kratos saw. Atreus is desperately curious. Like most young people, he wants to understand who he is more than anything. In this case, he wants to understand who he could be. The mystery of Loki’s role in the upcoming conflict is something that Atreus cannot let go of. He wants to keep his family safe, but Atreus also doesn’t want to stand by and do nothing while conflict consumes the Nine Realms. Kratos, still bearing the knowledge of his past mistakes, wants to spare Atreus the bloody lessons he learned from his conflict with gods. He wants to keep his son safe, above all, and their confrontation with Baldur has vindicated the belief that only tragedy will come from further entanglements with the Aesir. Together, Kratos and Atreus will have to make a choice about which path they will take. Whatever they choose will define the fate of all those living in the Nine Realms as Ragnarök approaches. Agony and Vengeance We show a brief look at two of the main antagonists you’ll face in God of War Ragnarök: Freya and Thor. Because of Kratos’ actions at the end of the previous game, the once-ally-turned-enemy Freya has sworn vengeance for the death of her son, Baldur. We wanted to remind players that Freya isn’t just a terrifyingly powerful user of Vanir magic, but also that she’s a formidable warrior in her own right. Enraged by Kratos’ evasion of justice by her hand, Freya will turn every weapon at her disposal towards her son’s killer. Also suffering the loss of his sons and half-brother, Thor’s legendary bloodlust and wrath will be aimed at Kratos and Atreus. Referred to disparagingly by Mimir as the “Biggest Butchering Bastard in the Nine Realms,” Thor earned his title as one of the most powerful Aesir gods by wiping out nearly all the Giants at Odin’s command. While we don’t want to give too much away right now, we think even a peek at Mjölnir wreathed in lightning will give you a hint at just how formidable Thor will be as an adversary. You Have My Axe It would not be God of War without a healthy serving of visceral and spectacular combat. You’ve been able to see just a hint of new attack abilities, a new Runic Summon for Atreus, and of course, the return of Kratos’ legendary weapons As a team we’ve worked hard to take our learnings from God of War (2018) and improve upon combat to feel fresh, yet familiar. With God of War Ragnarök, one of our main goals was to push player choice in combat. Whether it’s through hard hitting combos, a mastery of elements, or clever defensive tactics – you will find plenty of opportunity to fight alongside our duo in a way that feels uniquely expressive. Whatever your choice of combat strategy, the enemies that await in God of War Ragnarök will be ready. The realms have grown harsher, and a whole host of new creatures from across Norse mythology will test your skills. From the trailer you can see what happens when Kratos finds himself under the hooves of the Stalker or grabbed between the jaws of a Dreki, and that’s just the beginning. With an expanded cast of adversaries, we aim to keep each combat encounter memorable from the smallest brawls to the big show-stopper bosses! We can’t wait to show you more as we get closer to release. Onward to Asgard Fans who played the last game know they were able to visit six of the Nine Realms during their journey. In God of War Ragnarök, you will be able to visit all nine! God of War Ragnarök will take you to the previously unreachable Vanaheim, Svartalfheim, and Asgard – as well as to new areas from locations featured in the last game. Exploring the realms will take you everywhere from verdant, otherworldly jungles to intricate subterranean mining networks. This next installment in the series will bring you a more diverse, beautiful, and mysterious variety of locations than in any other God of War game. See You Next Year! We’re so happy to finally be able to share a small taste of what we’ve been working on over at Santa Monica Studio since the release of God of War in 2018. As always, we’re fans of our fans. We can’t wait to see all the discussion, art, videos, and cosplay that you create. Make sure you tag us on social or use #GodOfWarRagnarok so we can see (and share) your amazing work! Your support for the series and our studio has been a pillar of strength for us during every moment of development on this title. In my nearly 18 years of working at Insomniac Games (wow—has it really been that long?!), one of the things I’ve always appreciated about the studio is how it truly values and fosters collaboration. When we work together, and more importantly, when we listen to each other, the end result is always better. That approach even applies when we work with those outside our studio, as it’s been such a pleasure to collaborate with Marvel Games. Learning from and sharing with these true believers as we created games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales has been a career highlight for many of us. And what’s so exciting is that our collaboration isn’t ending anytime soon, as today we revealed not one—but TWO—new Marvel titles coming from Insomniac Games: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine. Let’s start with the one most of you probably could’ve guessed: Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We’re so thrilled to continue the journey of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales in their most epic single-player adventure yet, coming exclusively to PlayStation 5 consoles in 2023. While pushing the capabilities of the console will be very exciting, we’re equally pumped to craft all-new stories for Peter and Miles in this sequel. Just as in our previous Spider-Man games, we not only want to tell a great Super Hero story, but also deliver a compelling human story, one full of heart and humor that dives deep into the people behind the mask. Much of the development team that brought you Marvel’s Spider-Man is returning to produce Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, including Bryan Intihar (creative director) and Ryan Smith (game director). Today’s game footage trailer is merely just a glimpse at what’s in store in terms of the new abilities our heroes will acquire, suits they will wear (more on that some other time), and the villains that will try to hunt them down. And speaking of villains, did you catch that final line at the end of the trailer? We’re so happy to announce that Tony Todd (of Candyman fame) will be voicing the symbiote-fueled Venom in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. We’re also delighted to welcome back Yuri Lowenthal and Nadji Jeter, who will reprise their roles as Peter and Miles respectively. We’ve been fortunate to work with so many incredibly talented actors in our Spider-Man games, and Tony has been such a wonderful addition to the cast. Now let’s talk about the announcement you probably weren’t expecting: Marvel’s Wolverine. Back when we were working on Marvel’s Spider-Man, there would be times where all of us—Insomniac, Sony Interactive Entertainment, and Marvel—would brainstorm together about the future beyond the web-slinger. And even in those early discussions, Wolverine continually came up as the character we’d be really stoked to work on together. Fast-forward a couple years and we’re suddenly standing in front of Sony Interactive Entertainment and Marvel formally pitching a PlayStation 5 game starring the adamantium-clawed Mutant! (Since you just saw the announce teaser, we can confirm that the pitch seemed to go pretty well.) So many of the Insomniac team are such huge fans of the character, and one of the key elements that drew us to him is surprisingly not that different from Spider-Man: Both heroes feel deeply compelled to defend people who are less able to do so. Marvel’s Wolverine is a standalone game being directed by Brian Horton (creative director) and Cameron Christian (game director), who recently led the creative efforts on Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, a game we’re extremely proud of at Insomniac. In the vein of our Spider-Man games, our goal here is to not only respect the DNA of what makes the character so popular, but also look for opportunities to make it feel fresh and truly reflect the Insomniac spirit. Even though Marvel’s Wolverine is very early in development, from what I’ve seen of its emotional narrative and cutting-edge gameplay (see what I did there?), the team is already creating something truly special. Being able to build a new, original universe with Spider-Man and now Wolverine is such an honor for so many of us at Insomniac Games. A huge thanks to our Sony Interactive Entertainment family for giving us the opportunity to develop these games, Marvel for trusting us with characters that mean so much to so many people, and of course, our fans for continuing to believe in us. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/-GlmmlIsu4QView the full article

Hello! I’m Phil, game director on Tchia. Following the exciting announcement that the game will be coming to PS4 and PS5 at launch, I’d like to take you on a little trip to New Caledonia, Awaceb’s homeland, and tell you how its cultures are influencing every aspect of the experience we’re creating. Awaceb is a young studio founded by my partner Thierry and myself, two childhood friends from New Caledonia, a small archipelago in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Because we grew up there, the incredibly rich and varied cultures of New Cal are deeply rooted in what we do. For example, the name “Awaceb” itself is local slang for “It’s all good”, or “No worries”. Because of that, it felt just right to draw from that heritage and insufflate those sensibilities in our next game, Tchia. Honoring the culture, and making it accessible. The approach we are taking with Tchia is first and foremost to build something anyone can understand, enjoy, and immerse themselves into. Making something too instructional or aimed directly at locals would completely defeat the purpose for us, which is why the world, story and characters we are creating are entirely fictional. This also allows us to include some fantastical elements in the mix and build a very unique world where the cultural inspiration isn’t a constraint, but rather an incredibly rich and solid backbone for the game. We are drawing inspiration from the rich and varied local landscapes, flora and fauna, cultures, music, languages, folklores and traditions and bringing our own sensibilities to everything. Bringing people from all over the world to the team also helped a lot in making sure what we are making is enjoyable for anyone who isn’t familiar with the country. A fair comparison for our approach is how Studio Ghibli treats Japanese culture in some of their films. They are fantastical places but definitely “feel” very japanese in many ways, and that makes for some super fascinating worlds. Working with local talent It was also important for us to work with locals as much as possible to make sure that the soul of the experience is deeply rooted in those local cultures.[Text Wrapping Break][Text Wrapping Break]All characters are voiced in traditional languages by local talent. We also record Kanak (indigenous melanesian inhabitants of New Caledonia) choirs and musicians for the game’s soundtrack, giving it a unique energy that I think has rarely been seen in video games. But above all, it’s a video game! Making something culturally relevant is incredibly fulfilling in and of itself, but first and foremost we focus on making a game that is fun and plays great. Tchia is a very analogic and physical game. It was my motto from the very start to give it a “Toy Box” feeling, reminiscent of playing with toys as a kid. Locomotion is super important for any game offering a lot of exploration, and we wanted to make moving around fun in and of itself. You can climb any surface and glide across the map with ease. All trees are physically simulated and climbable, and Tchia can catapult herself through the air using the springiness of a coconut tree for example. We also have a tricks system that lets you do cool flips and dives while jumping around! And for longer distances, you can use your boat to sail away! One important feature is Tchia’s Soul Jumping powers. You’re able to take control of any physical object or animal in the world. They all offer unique controls and some special abilities that you can use to travel, solve puzzles, uncover secrets… The game also features a fully playable Ukulele that Tchia will use at key story moments during rhythm sections. You can also play unlockable melodies at any point in the open world to trigger special events such as attracting animals, triggering rainfall… I hope you’re excited to check out Tchia when it comes out on PS4 and PS5. There’s a lot more we’d like to show about the game, including customization, story, open world activities and challenges, combat… So stay tuned! http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/mcBgo7LpP1sView the full article

You wake up on a beach, no memory of how you got there or even who you are. A mysterious message floats before you, urging you to “break the timeloop.” You’re trapped on an island full of people who are trying to kill you. You die, then wake up back on that same beach. Day ends. Beach. Die. Beach. It’s enough to make you sick of beaches. Sick enough to start listening to those floating messages and do something about this timeloop. That’s Colt’s journey in Deathloop. Break the cycle by killing the people responsible for keeping it going, and maybe find a way off the island of Blackreef. Déjà Vu The island of Blackreef wasn’t always caught in a timeloop. It started off as an isolated fishing colony, but an anomaly in the area eventually attracted the attention of the military, and further down the line, the attention of the founding members of the AEON Program. These individuals and their followers came together to exploit the anomaly and create the timeloop that would ostensibly allow them to live forever. But the human mind isn’t made to withstand eternity. After enough time, the inhabitants of Blackreef started experiencing amnesia. At the beginning of the game, Colt is in this exact position. When Colt first opens his eyes on this particular morning on the frigid, sandy beach of Blackreef’s shore, he only has fleeting, dreamlike memories from the day before. His constant companions through his journey are strange, floating messages and radio calls from a woman who calls herself Julianna, and often the two have conflicting agendas that Colt will need to navigate. Because of his amnesia, Colt gets to know himself as you’re getting to know him. You’ll be learning about his past as you’re uncovering the island’s strange story and unraveling its mysteries. The Visionaries At the heart of many of these mysteries are the eight Visionaries – the founders of the AEON Program and the people you have to kill in order to put an end to the timeloop keeping Blackreef stuck in its never-ending cycle. All of the Visionaries have their own stories and reasons for being on Blackreef. Some of them want to live forever. Some of them want to experiment or create beautiful things forever. Some of them want to party – and eat people – forever. (We’re looking at you, Aleksis. You nasty wolfman.) Throughout the game you will learn the habits and secrets of all eight Visionaries, and you’ll use them to your advantage. With the knowledge you gain, you’ll be able to draw the Visionaries out of hiding and line them up for the perfect cycle. But one Visionary stands above the rest… It’s Complicated Julianna Blake. The cat to your mouse. She’s the only person in the game you’ll have consistent contact with. She’s also the person on the island most determined to stop you from breaking the timeloop. Game Director Dinga Bakaba describes her and Colt’s relationship as “the beating heart of Deathloop,” and everything in the game comes back to them and their rivalry. “This is the first person you meet and she’s trying to kill you,” says Narrative Designer Bennett Smith. “Part of the initial stages of the game are finding out and exploring and discovering why she wants to do this. Julianna has something in common with Colt. The island loops over one day, but everybody on the island seems to forget except for her and Colt. So in some ways they’re the only people they can both commiserate with because if they went to anyone else they would just forget. Through that experience, it’s basically her trying to get Colt up to her level. She holds all the cards. She holds all the knowledge. So she calls you over the radio and taunts you, but it’s also this didactic experience where Colt is enquiring about what is going on and she’s giving him answers – but not all the answers. As the player navigates through this world and discovers things, she can kind of fill in some of the gaps.” Bakaba has said that the story of Colt and Julianna is the story of Blackreef. They are fighting over the fate of this island, and most of the inhabitants have no clue what’s happening beyond their immediate orders to hunt Colt. They go through the same routines every day, unaware of the larger tableau playing out around them. Julianna doesn’t just want to live forever. According to Smith, if you asked her that, she would say that’s “too simple.” Julianna came to Blackreef with similar motives to the other Visionaries, but she’s changed over the years. Actually, thanks to everyone’s amnesia, she’s the only one who has changed over the years. She has started getting bored. But now there’s Colt, who is suddenly able to remember things between loops, and that’s when life becomes interesting again for her. “Colt wakes up on this island, and this woman is clearly the reason why everyone on the island wants to kill him,” says Bakaba. “She should be his enemy, but she keeps contacting him over his radio. Julianna seems fascinated by him and interested in what he’s doing and how he’s doing. This fascination goes both ways because everyone is on a schedule and everyone keeps forgetting, except for her. Julianna is with Colt every step of the way. So a lot of the conversations are this rivalry, this kind of duel of punchlines. But every now and then there are also these moments of sincerity. They share a lot in common, they just have very, very opposed goals.” Are you prepared to venture down the rabbit hole? Deathloop launches exclusively on consoles for PlayStation 5 on September 14. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/by9DmS9Odd8View the full article

Ever since we announced Bloodhunt earlier this year, we have been hearing from PlayStation players asking for a PlayStation version. We are therefore incredibly excited to reveal that we are partnering with Sony to bring Bloodhunt to the PS5 later this year. Bloodhunt is a free-to-play, third-person battle royale game set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe. The story takes you to the Old Town of Prague, where rivaling vampire factions are thrown into turmoil after a treacherous betrayal. With both sides targeted for annihilation by a secret society known as the Entity, you will have to use your supernatural powers, weapons, and wits to dominate the night and restore the Masquerade. Bloodhunt features multiple clans. The Toreador clan vampires seem to be everything contemporary young humans aspire to become, but their talent and beauty are nothing but a hunter’s camouflage. The Brujah are violent visionaries and spiteful rebels. Their solutions are tainted by their anger and lack of self-control. And then we have the Nosferatu who thrive in the shadows and have spies and agents where you least expect it. Each of the clans is represented by two vampiric archetypes that come with their unique set of abilities and powers, allowing for a wide variety of playstyles. Unparalleled traversal skills are shared by all and enable you to scale any buildings, defy gravity and strike from anywhere making room for even more creative combat strategies and unique battle scenarios. Bloodhunt also provides deep customization features that let players create their ultimate vampires. We feature a large variety of clothing, tattoos, piercings, jewelry, hairstyles, make-up, and more in assorted styles of fashion and trends. A wide variety of vanity will be made available through the Battle Pass progression as well as through the in-game store. Bloodhunt on PS5 has a performance target of 60 FPS and will make full use of the DualSense wireless controller. You will be able to feel the differences between the caliber of the weapons as the adaptive triggers are planned to have different resistance per weapon. We are also making sure to utilize the full capabilities of 3D audio to immerse the player in the setting. It will also provide an edge in hunting your prey, helping to pinpoint where the screams, gunshots, and enemies are coming from. Finally, we have to mention that the Old Town of Prague in Bloodhunt is very detailed and features a lot of unique textures and 3D models. The high-speed SSD in the PS5 makes it possible for us to fulfill our vision of a beautiful city. We will have a lot more to share about the PS5 version in the near future. Until then please check out our website and social channels to learn more about our game. Until next time. See you at dusk! http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/T73EUaYZRswView the full article

Hey everyone! Did you catch our newest story trailer for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy? If you haven’t – run the tape back. Our story takes place twelve years after an epic conflict known as the Galactic War swept through the cosmos. Star-Lord recently formed the Guardians of the Galaxy, they’ve been together for less than a year. He started the group as heroes-for-hire, seeing opportunity for adventure and profit in a universe that’s still recovering from the War. Unfortunately, at the beginning of our game, they inadvertently set off a series of catastrophic events, that enables a grand organization known as the Universal Church of Truth to rise to prominence and begin to threaten the universe. They’re intent on bringing their so-called “Promise” to the galaxy, which according to them, will bring back everything that was lost in the Galactic War. Yeah, that’s pretty suspicious. As the Guardians come upon the full force of the Church, they realize that they’ll need to step up when no one else will. They’re a small team and they’re still coming together, so they’re going to need a lot of allies along the way. This is where Cosmo, one of the really fun characters in our game, gets involved. He is a dog that is also an extremely powerful telepath, which allowed him to become the head of security of Knowhere. Keeping Knowhere safe and operating smoothly isn’t just a job for Cosmo, and he feels strongly about his responsibility to the people living on the station. The Church is an obvious threat to the safety of Knowhere, so he’ll help the Guardians on their way to investigate the Church and the source of their power. On their adventure, the Guardians will also come across the Nova Corps, a space militia that maintains peace in the galaxy. They’re headed by the Worldmind, a massive supercomputer composed of the minds and memories of the entire Xandar civilization. As the Guardians will find out, getting the Worldmind to help them isn’t going to be as straightforward as they expected… In the trailer, you may have also noticed Star-Lord’s elemental blasters transforming. They’re very special as they’re tied to his DNA, they’re connected to him. Over the course of the story, he begins to realize that this connection enables him to transform the blasters according to his needs – which will unlock various elements that you can use to your advantage in combat and exploration. As the Guardians travel throughout the galaxy, they’ll also meet colorful characters such as Mantis, aka the Celestial Madonna in our universe, Kammy, a mysterious space alpaca, and many more. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is coming October 26, 2021 to PS4 and PS5! We can’t wait for you all to play our game. Buckle up – it’s gonna be a wild ride. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/InkKAPnuwUYView the full article

A mysterious fog descends upon Tokyo, causing nearly all the city’s population to vanish. As an enigmatic masked group takes responsibility, you’re left with nothing but questions and waves of supernatural Visitors to contend with. Explore the haunted city and hone your own ethereal abilities as you face the unknown and uncover the truth in Ghostwire: Tokyo. Discover the Source of Tokyo’s Supernatural Takeover Step into Tango Softworks’ vision of Tokyo, an ultra-modern cityscape of skyscrapers, traditional shrines, narrow alleyways, massive crossings and neon-lit shops – now teeming with spirits and supernatural happenings. Players awaken in an abandoned street crossing as Tokyo’s population disappears, without a clue as to where they’ve gone or why. There’s no time to question why you’ve been spared as otherworldly Visitors attack the city, seemingly led by a masked man known as Hannya and his acolytes. These Visitors are no mere apparitions. You’ll need to master Ethereal Weaving – a powerful art that attunes the elements with spiritual energy – alongside other equipment and ghost-hunting skills to face such a threat. Wielding the power of wind, water and fire, you’ll combine abilities to tackle a variety of supernatural foes, including: Agile spirits in the form of headless high school students attack in groups, using speed and acrobatics to catch you off-guard Dolls based off traditional teru teru bozu weather charms that fly through the air, as if hoisted on invisible strings, and shoot fire from a distance Faceless ghosts that roam rainy environments in funeral attire that can deflect attacks with their umbrella as they approach to strike at close-range With the aid of your newfound allies and abilities – both conventional and supernatural – only you can root out the truth behind this seemingly impossible phenomenon, fight off the Visitors encroaching Tokyo and save the city before Hannya’s final plans are made manifest. A Next-Gen Experience on PlayStation 5 Using the advanced hardware capabilities of the PS5, Tango Gameworks brings their vision of a haunted, modern-day Tokyo to life. Designed with next-generation technology in mind, players will walk through rain-slick streets rendered in cutting-edge detail, amplified in fidelity with the PS5’s ray tracing and 3D audio technologies. Making use of the system’s SSD storage and high speed, near-zero loading times as you explore the city make traversing Ghostwire: Tokyo seamless. The action is also more immersive with the DualSense wireless controller, implementing the controller’s built-in audio capabilities to bring voices from the other side to the player, approximating a sort of ‘sixth sense’ to help detect things normally unperceivable to humans as they explore the haunted city. The DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers and haptic feedback also simulate executing and developing your abilities. Without looking, players can tell the difference between wielding a barrage of flames and loosing precise blasts of wind while they use Ethereal Weaving. While attempting a Core Grab, a gambit where players can pull out a Visitor’s essence at close range, the triggers simulate resistance as the spirit tugs against your finishing move. As your skills become stronger, so too does the response from the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers, allowing you to actually feel the sensation of becoming a stronger and more capable ghost hunter. Prepare yourself for ghost-hunting action, otherworldly mystery and next-gen adventure across a vision of Tokyo like no other when Ghostwire: Tokyo arrives on PlayStation 5 in 2022. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/8HHJ0EinUGkView the full article

At Remedy, our passion are the stories we bring to our fans through the medium of video games. With great pleasure, we’re proud to bring the complete version of our classic story-driven horror experience Alan Wake to PlayStation for the very first time. I’m thrilled to announce that Alan Wake Remastered is being released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, giving you the chance to finally take part in Alan Wake’s journey into the night on October 5. Alan Wake Remastered is the graphically enhanced version of the original game first released in 2010. Now, we are bringing you the complete Alan Wake experience, including the two story-expansions The Signal and The Writer, originally released as DLCs, with all-new 4K visuals, updated environments, cutscenes, and a brand-new making-of commentary where I take a trip down memory lane. The story so far Alan Wake, a bestselling writer, comes to behind the wheel of a crashed car. It’s night. He is in a primordial forest outside the small town of Bright Falls, Washington. Wake has hit his head. He is missing a week. His photographer wife, Alice, is missing. The couple came to the idyllic Bright Falls to heal, a departure from the pressure cooker of their celebrity life in New York City. Wake hasn’t been able write in a long time. Their relationship has seen better days. Now Wake finds pages of a novel he seems to have written, even though he can’t remember writing it. The story is called “Departure”. It’s a horror story. He is the main character in it. In the story, Bright Falls is taken over by a Dark Presence. The story is coming true. Locals, possessed by supernatural darkness, stalk Wake in the forest. As his journey spirals deeper into the darkness of the night, Wake tries to hold on to the tattered remnants of his sanity, to find answers to the nightmarish mystery he faces. Using the light of his flashlight as a weapon, he is forced to fight for his life, and the life of Alice. Talking tech There is a lot of subtlety in the visuals of Alan Wake, now enhanced by the power of the new PlayStation consoles. On the PlayStation 5, the game runs at 4K at 60fps. The PlayStation 4 Pro offers a choice of Performance (60fps) and Quality (4K at 30fps) modes and PS4 version runs at 30fps. A lot of time has been spent optimizing the game for each platform to offer the best possible experience. On top of that, each weapon Alan uses feels unique thanks to the DualSense wireless controller’s adaptive trigger having different feedback depending on the gun you are using, from the revolver to the flare gun. There are also Activity cards for each episode and mission of the game. Our hero’s character model has been completely re-done. Many of the original developers of Alan Wake, myself included, were involved in the creation of this remaster. Above all, we wanted to preserve the identity and unique visual style of Alan Wake, while still elevating the graphics to meet modern players’ expectations. Almost everything in the original game has been retouched: a ton of individual items, from environment scenes to individual props, textures, sound effect files, and the art for the UI. As it’s a hugely important part of creating the unnerving atmosphere of the game, there was a dedicated team working hard to ensure the trees and foliage would look as good as possible. It’s all connected Some of you first met Alan Wake in the AWE expansion of Control, another game set in the Remedy Connected Universe. There we shed some light on Wake’s long-dormant mystery in the dark depths. We learned that the strange events in Alan Wake had been investigated by the Federal Bureau of Control as an “Altered World Event” – a crisis caused by dangerous paranatural forces seeping through into our reality. This was how the story of Alan Wake was perceived through the lens of the story of Control. Both Control and Alan Wake exist in the same world, the events of one story tying into the other. Now, we’ve taken the writer’s origin story to a new generation of brave players. With Epic Games Publishing, we’re happy to finally bring Alan Wake to the PlayStation community, and for you to experience the thrill-ride for the first time. Welcome to Bright Falls, Washington, again, for the first time. Remember, whatever you do – stay in the light. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/C8UTqzL3pQsView the full article

For decades, Team Rainbow has shielded the world from some of the worst threats imaginable. Terrorist threats, biological weapons, and the threat of nuclear war have all been averted thanks to the elite operators in the Rainbow program. This January, we face the greatest terror our world has ever seen: a lethal, mutating alien threat. Rainbow Leader Ash has recruited an elite global team of Rainbow Six Operators best suited to the task to form REACT (Rainbow Exogenous Analysis and Containment Team). Called the Archaeans, this alien parasite has taken over four key regions in the United States: New York, San Francisco, Alaska, and New Mexico. Your objective is to head into these regions, gather intelligence within their three contaminated zones, push back the Archaean threat, and extract your squad safely. What Will You Risk? The most important question that you will have to ask yourself while playing Rainbow Six Extraction is, “How far am I willing to go?” Whether you’re playing by yourself in solo mode or with two of your friends in co-op, every incursion is different thanks to dynamic objectives, Archaeans, and challenges to overcome. As you progress through a map’s three zones, you will always have the chance to extract and bank all the experience you’ve gained so far. If you decide to push forward and take on harder challenges, you can gain bigger rewards, but pushing further into the Archaean-infested zones increases the difficulty and the chance you won’t make it out. The XP you gain from successfully completing objectives and extracting your Operator fuels your global milestone progression, allowing you to unlock new maps, Operators, REACT tech, customization items and more. What happens if you fail to extract your Operator? They will go Missing in Action (MIA), locking your ability to play as them until you mount a rescue mission. Don’t worry, if you are unable to complete the rescue mission you will still get the Operator back, but you risk losing all the progression you’ve made with that specific Operator. Operator Progression If you’re a fan of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, Rainbow Six Extraction introduces a whole new way to play with the Operators you love. Operator progression will change the way you utilize each Operator’s skill set. The experience gained from successfully extracting from incursions advances their unique gadgets, weapons, and abilities in new and exciting ways. Make sure you use these new tools to take on the harder challenges that await you. Who Has the Best Squad? For more competitive players, Maelstrom Protocol is a ranked mode that offers you and your team intense, escalating challenges and top tier rewards. The Protocol is updated every season, ensuring fresh endgame content. Additionally, Rainbow Six Extraction will offer free, regularly updated post-launch content. While we’re not ready to divulge all the details yet, we hope that you’ll stay tuned for more information as we get closer to launch day. Tech Features That Matter For those playing on PlayStation 5, we want you to know that we’re taking advantage of the awesome, immersive features that your console provides. We’ve developed Rainbow Six Extraction on PS5 with an intense focus on three pillars: Deep Immersion and Control Haptic feedback and Adaptive Triggers are at your fingertips, putting the intensity and tactical precision of being a REACT Operator right in your hands. Hey PlayStation Blog readers! My name is Raio, and I’m the creative producer at Luminous Productions, working on various aspects of our upcoming game Forspoken. Today I’m happy to introduce our brand-new trailer that showcases Forspoken’s hero, Frey Holland, and her background story. It answers many of your questions like: “how did she end up in Athia?” and “what’s up with her sneakers?” So without further ado, here’s our new story introduction trailer: Play Video Frey is a directionless, gritty yet street smart young woman who has persevered despite her rough upbringing in New York City. And her life hasn’t really gotten any easier now that she’s about to turn 21. Things take a turn for the unexpected when she’s magically transported to Athia, a land where fantasies and nightmares are suddenly very real. Playing as Frey, you’ll need to harness newly discovered magical abilities to battle the terrifying monsters that inhabit the land. To have a chance of returning home, she’ll also have to contend with the Tantas — destructive and twisted all-powerful matriarchs who have dominion over Athia. As previously announced, Frey is performed by Ella Balinska, so I hope you enjoyed a longer look at her performance in the trailer. I’m excited to reveal more characters from Forspoken and some of the fantastic actors behind them too: Jonathan Cake plays Frey’s companion “Cuff.” Cuff is a magical, sentient bracelet of uncertain origin who helps Frey navigate through the sprawling landscapes of Athia. Janina Gavankar plays Tanta Sila, the strongest and most formidable Tanta in Athia. While she once protected Athia with her unparalleled prowess in battle, Tanta Sila is now a dictatorial despot who is mad with power. Keala Settle plays Johedy, the hard-nosed archivist who provides Frey with guidance during her journey in Athia. Monica Barbaro plays Auden, a kind and open-minded young woman who prioritizes the needs of others before her own. She is quick to accept Frey in Athia and sees more in her than Frey does in herself. You may also be wondering about the music in the trailer—pretty amazing, right? I’m happy to announce that the track was composed by the legendary Bear McCreary, who you may know from God of War (2018) and The Walking Dead. We’re so excited that Bear has joined the Forspoken team as he can bring the immersive world and all of its twisted beauty come to life by fusing contemporary electronic beats with a fantasy tone. But why stop at one legendary composer when you can work with two? In addition to Bear, the renowned Garry Schyman (BioShock) is also composing musical tracks for the game. So go ahead and set those expectations high — you’re going to be wowed. Finally, I’m excited to announce some of the talented writers behind this game. They include Gary Whitta (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Amy Hennig (Uncharted series), Allison Rymer, and Todd Stashwick. Together, they’ve worked to craft a beautiful story of Frey’s journey of self-discovery that I have no doubt you will enjoy. On behalf of Square Enix and the entire Luminous Productions team, I hope you’re just as excited as we are to join Frey’s journey next year. Forspoken will be releasing on PlayStation 5 in Spring 2022. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/rdcjJGok0l4View the full article

Today, we officially revealed the first look at gameplay for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and set pre-orders live. It’s a significant milestone for our team, and we’re just scratching the surface! Developing a world that exists inside the chaotic mind of someone like Tiny Tina gave us the license to build a lot of wild ideas and explore crazy ways of bending the rules of traditional fantasy while mixing it with the classic. What results is an adventure full of whimsy, wonder, and high-powered weapons, and we have so much more to show you before the game launches on March 25, 2022. For now, though, let’s dive into this trailer. The trailer opens with Tiny Tina welcoming you to our new fantasy world amidst the threat of the Dragon Lord. Our tyrannical villain is obsessed with ruling all of the Wonderlands, and Tiny Tina is the disorderly guide leading you through as she sometimes changes the world on the fly. We know many love Tiny Tina (and so do we), but for those who’ve never experienced her before, we’re excited to introduce you to her endearing, unpredictable nature. The footage is packed with shots to pause and give a second look, including some of the epic settings you’ll get to play in, from majestic towns to mushroom forests, foreboding fortresses, and more. The world is a wild and slightly warped take on high fantasy, so we were able to completely let our imaginations run wild. You also catch glimpses of the Overworld about halfway through the trailer. This is, essentially, our interactive tabletop zone, which players can explore as they discover dynamic encounters and traverse between all key locations. Old school J-RPG fans, we see you. During your epic quest to defeat the Dragon Lord, you’ll encounter a wide variety of monsters, from sentient smack-talking skeletons to land-roaming sharks to colossal bosses. The trailer shows off the incredible arsenal you will have at your disposal, with devastating spells, powerful guns, melee weapons, and unique Skills for frenetic first-person battles. We want you to explore and try all the different ways to use your firepower. In that spirit, today’s trailer teases a significant pillar of the Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands experience: creating your own hero. We’ll have much more to share about this in the future, but we’ve built a multiclass system that lets you mix and match six unique character skill trees, all with their own awesome abilities. You can also customize how your players look and sound. You can do all this solo or party up with up to three friends for four-player co-op. We’re excited for you to find your unique playstyle, discovering how you want to experience the game. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands releases worldwide on March 25, 2022, and we can’t wait to share more details with you in the months ahead. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/KyYqoyVuxvwView the full article

I am so delighted to properly unveil to you the very first console title that Shift Up is currently developing: Project Eve. It’s been two years since we announced development in 2019. Today, we are finally able to reveal a new, closer look at the PlayStation 5 game. It is such an honor and great pleasure. Reclaim the stolen Earth and decide for mankind’s destiny In the not-too-distant future, mankind is expelled from Earth after losing the battle against the invaders called the NA:tives. To win back Earth, the player becomes Eve, the survivor of the paratrooper squad deployed from the Colony, who must fight through powerful enemies with new comrades. We invite you to join Eve’s adventure in the face of unknown creatures on a desolate, destroyed Earth. Blood, blade, and… beauty The Earth, embodied with such graceful graphics that take full advantage of PlayStation 5’s power, will convey unprecedented vibes that stand out from other post-apocalyptic worlds. As you accompany Eve throughout the game, you get one step closer to the secret hidden in this unusual world. Combat in Eve is deliberate – including attack, defense, and evasion – while remaining fluid and zestful. The only way to survive is to grasp the attack patterns of various enemies and counter with precise timing. Continue the flow of battle after parrying and evading by weaving in multiple combo skills. Taking down enemies culminates in a spectacular and amusing display of power. The DualSense wireless controller’s haptic feedback amplifies this experience by manyfold. From the sensation of the blade slicing into the enemy to the exceptional skills that tingle your hands. We can’t wait to reveal new weapons that vividly showcase the DualSense controller’s features in the future. Eve will do more than slay enemies with style in her adventure. Master the terrain by scaling walls, sliding tactically, swinging on ropes, and more. As you make your way through this environment utilizing diverse actions, try exploring and acquiring treasures hidden throughout the world! As the game progresses, Eve acquires skills and items, growing stronger and stronger. Acquire Beta Gauge (BG) by parrying and evading in combat. You can then use BG to gain skills like piercing super armor, execute sweeping attacks, interrupt enemy combos, and more. Eve also has a Burst Gauge which accumulates with successive parries and combos, which can be used to activate buffs and powerful attacks like a leaping stab. You can also look forward to finding stylish costumes throughout the game to change Eve’s look. We’re not ready to announce when Project Eve will release on PS5, but we’ll keep you updated. We are working hard to make something that we hope you love. Please stay tuned with continued support and interest. http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/BDOknBSOQ0IView the full article

A pinnacle of Star Wars Legends storytelling, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is set over 4,000 years before the events of the original trilogy and introduced a new story of new heroes and villains in an epic struggle for the fate of the galaxy. The team here at Aspyr and Sony Interactive Entertainment have joined forces with Lucasfilm Games to bring you a remake of this classic Star Wars adventure. We’re rebuilding one of the greatest RPGs of all time for a new generation with modern tech, features, visuals and more, while maintaining the integrity of the story and characters that we’ve come to cherish. And it’s a console exclusive on PlayStation 5 at launch. If you’re not familiar with “KOTOR” — as you’ll see fans lovingly refer to it — then you’re in for a treat. The original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was a truly groundbreaking achievement: an award-winning RPG of incredible scope, immersion, and ambition with an epic narrative to match. A diverse cast of characters to meet, multiple planets to discover, challenging battles to fight, and cinematic storytelling that responds to the choices you make — it’s no wonder that to this day KOTOR remains one of the most celebrated video games ever made. Why remake Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic? Well, nearly 20 years after it first debuted, the original KOTOR is still one of the most beloved games of all time. And even as Star Wars travels to new horizons, we know the community is as eager as ever to return to this iconic era of storytelling and action. With Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake, our hope is to give both series newcomers and long-term fans an experience that can live alongside the very best modern releases. We’re rebuilding it from the ground up with the latest tech to match the groundbreaking standard of innovation established by the original, all while staying true to its revered story. Aspyr has assembled the very best talent from across the industry to create Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake – industry veterans who have worked on great RPGs, as well as some members of the original Knights of the Old Republic development team. Their knowledge and passion for these characters, this story, and this world is unmatched. And just who is Aspyr? You probably know us as the studio responsible for bringing multiple Star Wars games to modern systems, including Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, Star Wars: Episode I – Racer, Star Wars: Republic Commando, and, yes, the original Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic! We’ve been working closely with Lucasfilm Games on classic Star Wars games for years, and that experience has instilled in our team a deep love and respect for these timeless titles, as well as a unique perspective on how to carry them forward into the modern age. We’re proud to be collaborating with Sony Interactive Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games to bring this dream to life. So, what’s next? Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic – Remake is a tremendous undertaking, encompassing almost every aspect of the original game. We’re still early in development, but we’re happy to finally have announced the remake and hear the PlayStation community’s thoughts on what you’re excited to see. Whether you’re new to KOTOR or one of the millions of fans who already know and love it, there’s a great adventure ahead of us. We can’t wait to show you more! http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/PSBlog/~4/1J29YfpkdTIView the full article
