  1. Hi everyone. I’m Radu Muresan, solo developer at Vivid Helix. I’m excited to announce that my game Semispheres on PS4 launches February 14, 2017. Here’s the latest trailer, featuring music by the talented Sid Barnhoorn (composer for Antichamber, Stanley Parable): With that out of the way, let me do a quick tour of how the game works. Semispheres is a puzzle game with stealth influences. It’s primarily meant for a single player, but I’ve had people enjoy the game together at every single event where I showed the game. The game is designed for immersion. The soothing color scheme and the wavy backgrounds, coupled with Sid’s ambient soundtrack will draw you into the game and make sure you’re fully focused. Even after more than two years working on the game, I still find myself just playing around with the characters. It starts off pretty easily: there are two characters, each confined to their own world (side of the screen). You get to control these characters independently with the two thumbsticks. Where it gets interesting is the first appearance of portals. A portal will create a gateway between the two worlds, in the location corresponding to the spot in the other world. Think of it as the two worlds being overlapping. This double nature plays very interestingly as you’re expected to perceive the environment as two separate spaces, but also a single space at the same time. Everything in the game revolves around its duality. All the abilities are enhanced or only possible in this kind of world. From the introductory “ping†or noise-making ability, to creating portals, swapping sides, transferring guards and teleports, they all contribute to the puzzle progression and improve your ability to think in this binary manner. As you have probably already noticed, the focal point of the game is the brain. The name, the main characters, the background, the two sides, and the story are all tied into this theme. With that, I’m leaving you with the first frame of the story, presented as a series of textless comic strips. View the full article
  2. Hi everyone! I’m Antonela, Community Manager here at 505 Games. Today, we’re proud to introduce the PlayStation community to Portal Knights, our action RPG sandbox game coming to PS4 May 2nd 2017 in North America. For many months now, we’ve had gamers ask us whether Portal Knights is coming to console… To be able to finally say “YES!†is super exciting! Back in 2014, 505 Games partnered with the incredibly talented development team at Keen Games to bring the idea of Portal Knights to life. The aim was to develop an action RPG sandbox game that differed from the competition with tactical action combat, sophisticated RPG elements, and regular events — and would ultimately be shaped by our players. So, what can you expect? What is Portal Knights all about? Here’s the thing… you can approach Portal Knights however you want! Pick an RPG character class, customize your hero, travel between unique islands connected by portals, build and furnish your home, farm resources, battle fearsome bosses, level up through combat, learn new skills, craft a range of weapons and spells, help out friends in multiplayer and much, much more… (Let us just catch our breath a moment!) Portal Knights can be enjoyed in single player mode, or with family and friends in co-op or online multiplayer mode. Maybe you want to start your journey alone, but what if you need some help gathering resources for your latest build? Not a problem: Invite a friend into your world and adventure together! Treat Portal Knights like a blank canvas and paint it however you want. Community is massively important to us as a team and we’ve been working closely with our players since we first launched on PC. The aim has always been simple – to make Portal Knights the game our community wants it to be and have them help shape the roadmap with us. We’re always keeping a close eye on our social channels and forums, talking with our players and identifying what it is they want to see in-game. As a result, our team of developers has been working flat-out behind the scenes to bring highly requested features to Portal Knights. It’s been an exciting ride so far but we’re not about to slow down! We’re so excited to see Portal Knights arrive on console and we hope you are too! In the run up to launch, let us know your thoughts across our community channels and feel free to ask us questions. We’d absolutely love to hear from you guys! View the full article
  3. Here at Codemasters, we continue to push the limits of what our games can do on PlayStation. We recently announced that we’ll be bringing Dirt Rally to a whole new level of realism and immersion with a PS VR upgrade. But that’s not all we have coming. To continue with our commitment to bringing PlayStation fans the best racing games, we’re here today to announce and talk about the next and largest game ever in the Dirt franchise — Dirt 4! We’re so pumped to bring you Dirt 4 later this year. It’s going to throw an incredible amount of cool stuff your way, so here’s the important information that you should know before it lands this June! Your StageAs the saying goes, “a circuit driver sees the same corner a thousand times, but a rally driver sees a thousand different corners†— and that’s the experience Dirt 4 aims to recreate. While our Career Mode rally routes are replayable and carefully curated to challenge a driver’s ever-growing skill-set, players will also have access to a new feature called Your Stage. A game changer for racing, Your Stage is an incredibly cool tool that means that the robotic nature of learning a stage will be a thing of the past. Your Stage is our very own route generator that allows players to create stages to their own specification, giving you all sorts of options with regards to length, complexity, and time of day. At the push of the button, you can generate a stage that no-one will have ever seen before — and with more than a billion possible stages across five different locations, the possibilities are astounding. These tracks can then be shared with friends online too, so you can create a track, throw down a time, and challenge your buddies to beat it. We might also have a few special guests setting some extra-special challenges further down the line… Dirt 4 Was Developed with Real-life DriversAt Codemasters, we pride ourselves on providing the most authentic representation of motorsport possible — which is why, when developing the game, we called in top-flight rally driver Kris Meeke along with former Rally champ and two-time World Rallycross Champion Petter Solberg to help us nail down the feeling of driving these amazing cars around a blind bend at breakneck speed. Petter and Kris came to the development studio to consult and assist with the handling aspects of Dirt 4 — and thanks to their years of world-class Rally and Rallycross experience, Dirt 4’s feel and handling has been taken to the next level. Petter’s son (and motorsport champion of the future) Oliver Solberg also helped us with the handling and behavior of the crosskarts, which will be new to the Dirt franchise this year! Even the voices in Dirt 4 are authentic to the motorsport experience — with rally co-driver, commentator, and motorsport presenter Jen Horsey playing the role of Rally school instructor and co-driver for US players. UK players will hear the distinctive Welsh accent of Colin McRae’s old co-driver Nicky Grist, who you might remember from a certain Colin McRae Rally series. You can obviously choose whichever you want. More US Locations Than Ever BeforeThe new game brings a whole host of American locations to Dirt, so there’s plenty of homegrown road to get your teeth into. Michigan is one of the five Rally stage locations, while Nevada, California, and Baja in Mexico also make their Dirt game debuts as truck and buggy racing makes a return in Landrush. The new DirtFish Rally School in Washington will also host your first few steps as a racing driver, where Jen Horsey will teach you all of the tips and tricks you’ll need to confidently throw your car around a stage. The school also doubles as a free practice zone for all of your vehicle-tuning needs, where you’ll instantly be able to test new vehicles and new setups. Not only that, but our new Joyride mode will also allow you to take on Lap Time and Smash the Blocks challenges around the Rally School’s grounds — so if you’re into donuts, there will be a place you can shred your wheels to your heart’s content. Be FearlessDirt 4’s all about the adrenaline rush, the thrill, and the danger of off-road racing — and more than that, it’s about loving that exhilaration. Whether you’re pushing flat out on the side of a cliff, or seeing how much air you can get in a truck, Dirt 4 is about driving forward in the face of adversity, as fast as you can. With our new technology, added realism, expanded content, and multiplayer modes, Dirt 4’s set to be our biggest and boldest Dirt game yet. The only question is: are you brave enough? 4. Hello PlayStation.Blog Readers! Deck13 team here to talk about The Surge, a new hardcore action-RPG we’re working on. Today we’re proud to unveil a CGI trailer exploring Warren’s first day on the job at CREO, the megacorporation on a mission to save a dystopian world from itself. Freshly recruited as an augmented worker, Warren’s first day coincides with a catastrophic event deep inside CREO, during the routine surgical operation meant to graft, through flesh and bone, the exo-suit required for the company’s employees. This disastrous event marks the first in a series of brutal events, turning this first day at CREO into a hellish nightmare of robots gone haywire, crazed employees with fried cranial implants, and artificial intelligence that all wants Warren dead. Now equipped with a state-of-the-art exoskeleton, you’ll have to improvise in order to survive — tools manipulated by CREO workers, while not originally meant for combat, make for effective lethal weapons; the equipment pieces compatible with your exo-suit will make you faster, stronger, sturdier. During battle, target specific limbs of your enemies, slice them and retrieve the powerful attached equipment to improve and power-up your own suit, allowing you to delve deeper in the CREO complex and attempt to put an end to the madness initiated by the Surge. Make the most of your exo-suit, armors, and almost limitless armament combinations to survive CREO when The Surge slices its way onto PS4 in May 2017. View the full article
  5. A VIP finally tipped us off about the drop location. He had been stationed at a small farm off a dirt road, a mountain looming on the horizon. Our task: approach silently, eliminate the relatively small security force assigned to the VIP, and escort him back to base for questioning. My squad of four waited for darkness to cover the valley before we began our approach. My drone skimmed overhead to tag possible targets. With everyone marked, my crew moved in fast and I eliminated the main sentry with a silenced rifle. The squad took position. I aimed down the scope. I pulled the trigger… and my bullet ricocheted off the windmill right above the enemy’s head, alerting the entire group. Oops. This encounter — or some variation of it — is central to Ghost Recon Wildlands. You’re presented with a massive open world filled with outposts, VIPs, and missions, and given the choice to approach them any way you want. You can go loud, dropping explosives, lobbing grenades, and firing assault rifles until no one is left standing. You can go quiet, knocking out non-essential targets and pave your way to the payload. Or you can plan to go quiet, wait for everything to go to hell, then get very loud while escaping for your life. That seemed to be what happened for me in my limited hands-on time with the game. It wasn’t quite as clean as we had planned, but we got our intel and witnessed some beautiful mayhem. Wildlands is the first Ghost Recon game on PS4, and the first game in the franchise to feature a truly open world. After spending a few minutes with it, you can see the comparisons to Ubisoft’s other open world ensembles, including Far Cry and Assassin’s Creed. Wildlands is set in a sprawling, unstable Bolivia where multiple factions struggle for power and try to resist the increasing influence of the Santa Blanca drug cartel. The map seemed truly huge from the limited time we had with the game. Flying over hillsides in our (stolen) helicopter, you could see for miles across rich jungles and open plains, even to some snowy peaks. And as you might expect, the world is filled with stuff to do. Raid outposts, steal and tag supplies to gain favor with the locals, and maybe stumble across some intriguing opportunities: an enticing convoy of oil tankers, a piece of intel leading to a high-value target, or some weapon upgrades. Of course there are weapon upgrades. The gunsmith is back, letting you customize gear to your heart’s extent. Unlock and add on various scopes, suppressors, stabilizers, extended mags, and grenade launchers to a huge variety of rifles, pistols, and machine guns. Make sure you pick a paint job that suits your personality, too. The customization extends to your character’s appearance: choose gender, hair style, tattoos, and outfit, and then invest in skill trees to emphasize drone, shooting, or driving abilities. The sheer number of systems at play — especially the land and air vehicles, along with squad mechanics — means the potential for mayhem is high, and often results in hilarious, memorable moments. The tone of the overarching narrative is certainly serious, but the player created stories in moment-to-moment combat can run the full gamut from tragedy to comedy. Although I only scratched the surface of the main missions, I was excited by the potential I saw. The world is rich, the game looks beautiful (we played on PS4 Pro, so no surprise there), and the co-op opportunities seem limitless. Ghost Recon Wildlands is out on PS4 in March, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out. I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of exceptional shared clips coming out of this… View the full article
  6. At Creative Bytes, we all loved playing platformers as kids but wondered what a platformer today might look like if it incorporated the dual sticks. This idea sparked our debut game, Embers of Mirrim, which we are launching this Spring on PS4. As you can see in the teaser trailer, Embers of Mirrim is an adventure-platformer featuring a powerful creature, Mirrim, with the ability to split into light and dark entities called Embers. As Mirrim, you can explore the dramatic landscape using opposing Embers to affect creatures and relics in the world in exciting and unexpected ways. The Light and Dark Embers are independently controlled by the left and right analog sticks and offer new ways to solve puzzles, overcome obstacles, and traverse through the world. While developing the mechanic, we found it satisfying to seamlessly transition back and forth between the traditional platforming and dual stick flight! While working on the game, we were heavily inspired by games where you were always doing different things, like in the Uncharted or Rayman series. We mixed the splitting mechanic with traditional elements like classic platforming, puzzle-solving, boss battles, and intense chases. Our story follows the plight of two proud races who must set aside their differences and come together… literally. As Mirrim, you carry the unique abilities of both races in a fight against an alien infection corrupting your beloved planet. Save your friends and unify forces to restore balance to the world. Mirrim’s journey will take you from a thawing mountain to an aging forest. The characters and environments were influenced by our love of 80’s fantasy movies like The NeverEnding Story and The Dark Crystal. No adventure game would be complete without a variety of hidden secrets which are scattered throughout the world for you to discover! We can’t wait for you to try this unique platforming adventure where you jump, split, collect, and reconnect! Let us know what you think in the comments. Also, our demo is playable this weekend at PAX South so if you are in the area, come by and say hi! View the full article
  7. Until now we’ve only revealed a portion of what’s to come with the launch of MLB The Show 17 with our Playback Trailer of the PlayStation Experience gameplay video. Today, we’re excited to dig a little deeper into the new Retro Mode in MLB The Show 17 with a video from our team in San Diego. We’re also highlighting the regional cover athletes for Canada and Taiwan, we’re outlining what you get by making the jump to our Season Starter Packs, and — last but certainly not least — we’re revealing the Twitch livestream schedule leading up to launch. Retro mode is pretty much a one-button mode, but with surprising depth, and all the new animations, gameplay additions, and improvements found in the regular version of the game. For example, in an effort to simplify the batter vs. pitcher battle, we’ve taken all the pitching attributes out and boiled them down to velocity, break, and control. Because there is no high and low in the strike zone, you have three pitches at your disposal that you can trigger with the touch of one button. To throw a fastball you hold down on the left analog stick and press X. To throw a changeup you hold up on the left analog stick and press X. And to throw a slider you press to the left or right on the left analog stick after the pitch is released. One of the wrinkles we’ve added is that velocity is controlled by holding down or up on the analog stick just before the pitcher releases. In closing, you choose velocity before the pitch is thrown and you can affect movement (left or right) after the pitch is thrown. MLB The Show 17 Regional CoversFor our friends in Canada, we’re excited to finally reveal the regional cover athlete for this year’s game. 2016 American League All-Star Aaron Sanchez graces the Canadian cover this year. Aaron was a key part in the Blue Jays returning to the post season for the second straight year. Miami Marlins starting pitcher Wei-Yin Chen once again graces the Taiwan cover of MLB The Show. When you pre-order MLB The Show 17, you will receive 10 bonus Standard Packs and a Ken Griffey Jr. Card for The Show 17 when you pick-up or download the game. Pre-order at GameStop/EB Games and receive an additional 5 Standard Packs bringing your total to 15. Lastly, if you pre-order on PlayStation Store in addition to the 10 Standard Packs and Ken Griffey Jr. card, you will instantly receive 11,000 Stubs for The Show 16. A few more clarifications on the content included in the different skus: Gold Season Starter Pack Contents: Includes one item for a mission starter that leads to a Gold player. Sponsor Pack Contents: 5 pieces of equipment to use in Road To The Show/Diamond Dynasty (RTTS/DD) and 3 Franchise sponsorships. Diamond Season Starter Pack Contents: Includes one item for a mission starter that leads to a Diamond player. Digital Deluxe Pack Contents: Includes 4 players, 1 guaranteed Live Series Gold player, and 1 guaranteed Flashback. Standard Pack: 8 total items, 6 Players, and 2 items (either RTTS/Diamond Dynasty Player equipment or Franchise Sponsorship). Stub(s): The universal currency used in MLB The Show. 2017 Twitch Livestream ScheduleSome of the most fulfilling moments in game development are when we get to show our faithful fans what we’ve been working on to make each year’s game the best baseball video game on the market. Over the last two years we’ve started to show off some of our work-in-progress updates in a series of video blogs and Twitch livestreams. We love hearing your feedback while we’re still tweaking some of the features and we hope you enjoy getting a sneak peek at what’s in store for the year. The 2017 video blog and Twitch livestream schedule can be seen below. Don’t forget to call in sick or clear your calendars accordingly! And don’t forget that there are 6 exclusive weekly Game Stop Monday’s video blogs that start on February 14. Stay tuned for the next video blog on February 7 that focuses on all things gameplay and our first Twitch livestream on February 9 that takes a deep dive into all the new changes to game play! Please make sure to watch The Show Nation, our Twitter and Facebook accounts between now and March 28th for the latest updates. View the full article
  8. Prepare to fight for your life as Morgan Yu when Prey launches May 5 on PS4. You find yourself aboard Talos I, an immense space station, far from Earth. All hell has broken loose as the Typhon aliens have escaped containment and taken over the space station. You must fight your way through Talos I to defeat the Typhon threat by any means necessary. The newest Prey gameplay trailer further reveals the dire situation and terrifying threats that Morgan will face this May. Prey takes Arkane Studios’ mantra of “Play Your Own Way†to new heights by allowing for deep player customization through weapons and abilities. Morgan gains abilities via Neuromods — a device that allows you to implant powers directly into your brain… by jabbing needles through your eye. And while there are some human powers Morgan can install early on, the best abilities come directly from the Typhon. You just have to stay alive long enough to learn them! One of my favorites is acquired from the spider-like Mimic, which can copy almost any object in the environment, and use that to surprise and frighten you when it pops out of a coffee cup (or chair or trash can or whatever else isn’t bolted down). Get the upper hand on Mimics and other Typhon by acquiring this ability and turning into objects yourself! Roll around Talos I all day as an apple if you so choose — though, be warned, it’s pretty tough to fight aliens as an apple. Morgan isn’t limited to just powers and abilities. There are also a few weapons that have been left behind by the ill-fated employees aboard Talos I. A wrench, pistol, and the soon-to-be-infamous GLOO Cannon are just a few that you can find aboard the space station (you can also acquire the raw materials and fabricate your own weapons — if you have the right plans). The GLOO Cannon is particularly noteworthy because it can not only encapsulate aliens, but also create paths to explore otherwise inaccessible areas. There’s a lot more that you can do in Prey, and you won’t have to wait much longer to explore Talos I and protect the world from the Typhon threat. Prey launches May 5 on PS4. Only Yu can save humanity and defeat the Typhon. View the full article

  10. Hey everyone. The Lunar New Year is almost here, and we’re celebrating the occasion in Overwatch with a brand-new seasonal event: Year of the Rooster! From now until February 13, PS4 gamers will have a chance to collect more than 100 new seasonal cosmetic items from our special Lunar Loot Boxes, enjoy a firefight beneath some fireworks on our Lijiang Tower map, and participate in a new capture the flag-style brawl. As with our previous events, during Year of the Rooster our standard Loot Boxes have been swapped out for special Lunar Loot Boxes, each containing at least one item from the Lunar New Year collection — including some festive new legendary skins like Palanquin D.Va and Wukong Winston. The contents of Lunar Loot Boxes are random, but if you’ve got your eye on a specific spray, victory pose, emote, highlight intro, or skin, you can purchase them from the Hero Gallery with in-game credits during the event. Once you’ve unlocked an item, it’ll stay in your inventory even after the event’s over, so you can celebrate the Year of the Rooster all year round. One of our favorite things about seasonal events is the brawls, which give us a great opportunity to experiment with new kinds of gameplay — from the fast and frantic team sport of Lúcioball to the co-op PvE challenge of Junkenstein’s Revenge. For the Lunar New Year, we took a cue from tradition and came up with an Overwatch take on a competitive gaming staple: capture the flag. In Capture the Rooster, teams will face off on Lijiang Tower, attempting to secure the enemy flag while the opposing team does the same. In this fast-paced brawl, players will need to get creative with their team compositions as they attempt to construct a lineup built for offensive speed and protecting a flagbearer. I’m sure the community will come up with some amazing strategies, but for now I’ll leave you with one piece of advice: when you’re first starting out, make sure to have at least one player guard the flag. You don’t want to make it too easy for Tracer to grab the thing! The Year of the Rooster is live starting today on PS4. We’re excited to ring in the Year of the Lunar New Year with all of you, so grab your family and friends, and we’ll see you in-game! View the full article
  11. December 9, 1988. A cold chill blows through the neon jungle of Kamurocho — Tokyo’s notorious red light district. And there you are, Kazuma Kiryu, on a simple collection run, where you need to beat a delinquent money borrower in the face. A job well done and a night out with your friend and all’s well that ends well, right? Wrong. The dude you beat up wound up dead, and now your yakuza crime family is pretty upset about the attention it’s bringing. And that’s just the first half hour of the game. The game in question, of course, being Yakuza 0 — the prequel to SEGA’s long-running franchise, and a great onboarding spot for those unfamiliar to the series! The world of 1988 Tokyo is fully vibrant, and the bubble economy is in full swing. Everyone has their pockets lined with wads of cash, and it’s yours for the taking (or making, if you want to go legit). If any street punks or other gangs are dumb enough to move in on your turf, you’re gonna teach them a lesson by beating the snot out of them in classic, PS2-brawler era style. The best part? Using Heat Actions and combos to literally beat money out of people, and of course smashing them in the face with environmental objects… like a motorcycle, or my personal favorite, the tea kettle. In the world of Yakuza 0, money is king! You’ll be needing lots of it to spend on upgrading your abilities — both Kiryu and Majima have three fighting styles to switch between, and each of those have additional moves that can be learned or bought, but the price goes up in a hurry, so you’re gonna need to figure out how to make some more money! Fortunately, both Majima and Kiryu get roped into legit businesses pretty quickly, and you’ll get a taste of what a bubble economy is really about. Kiryu takes charge of a real-estate scheme in Kamurocho where you’ll get to earn income by building a portfolio of businesses that you take collections from. You may have to settle some disputes, but that’s what your fists are for. Then there’s Majima’s business in Sotenbori. In addition to being the manager of the Cabaret Grand, he’ll fall into the role of being the manager of the Sunshine Cabaret Club, where you get to manage the hostesses and try to build up a clientele eager to spend mad money on facetime with a beautiful woman and some expensive alcohol. But, perhaps best of all, there’s tons of places to explore and substories to uncover — there are ancient martial arts masters, drunken homeless dudes, badass debt collectors who reveal new fighting techniques to you (seriously), Club SEGAs with brand new Out Run or Space Harrier arcade cabinets to play, or maybe even a quick visit to the Telephone Clubs to try and find love. Find the Darts parlor and try your hand at Cricket or 9-ball, maybe some Karaoke at the Karaoke club, or hit the docks for some fishing. Of course, there’s also a bunch of dudes eager to fight and you’ll get strangely obsessed with collecting phone cards scattered around the city. Don’t forget that there’s a serious story at play here — the Dojima Family is going through a power vacuum with Kiryu stuck in the dead center of it, and Majima is trapped in the gilded cage of the Cabaret Grand, desperate to rejoin the ranks of the Tojo Clan. Majima, strung along endlessly by his captors gets a one-time offer of absolution: to execute a civilian. But will he be able to go through with it? Find out in Yakuza 0, available today and only on PS4! View the full article
  12. Hello everyone, Ando from Alvion Inc., here. I’m excited to announce Malicious Fallen, the latest in the Malicious series, coming to PS4. Malicious is a 3D action combat game, arriving as a PlayStation Store digital exclusive, lauded for its painterly, ethereal visuals and frenetic, boss battle-centric gameplay. The Malicious series’ previous entries launched on PS3 and PS Vita, but now having moved to PS4, we’ve been free to implement all sorts of ideas that were previously unreachable, including heightened graphics, speed, and responsiveness, with the game running at 1080p and targeting 60 frames per second with PS4 Pro support As you’d expect, Malicious Fallen includes new chapters, new stages, and plenty of new elements. However, in addition to all that, we’ve remastered every stage from the past two games. Malicious Fallen really is the definitive Malicious collection, meaning those who’ve never played the series before can join in the fun right alongside series veterans. What’s more, you won’t have long to wait, as the game will be launching on February 21! View the full article
  13. Hi everyone! This is Toni from Exkee, creators of a few indie games such as I-Fluid, ColorZ, and Voodoo Dice. We’re proud to announce that Kill the Bad Guy is coming to PS4! The game took us two years of development and was previously launched on PC. Last year we decided to develop it on console and we’re very happy with the result. We wanted to create a special game, mixing several influences. The gameplay of Kill the Bad Guy is a mix between puzzlers, strategy/stealth, and physics-based games. The aim was to give players a lot of ways to kill the Bad Guy — to let the player develop his own plan, but have a bit of a hard time doing it. In Kill the Bad Guy, players join a mysterious society whose members have sworn to get rid of war criminals, former mafia members, and other criminals, going incognito among us. Players create traps by combining, diverting, and hacking several elements of the background to create spectacular, lethal scenes. Each mission is organized in the same way. You can see a district where a Bad guy is peacefully walking. Your objective is to eliminate him. But it’s not that easy. You have to keep in mind that you are a dark avenger, and so you must stay discreet. Transform everyday items and objects into deadly weapons so no one knows you or your society were involved. Never lose your self-control, stay quiet, without mercy, aim accurately, and kill the Bad Guy! We hope you like the game, the soundtrack, the crazy bonus levels, and all the surprises we have hidden! 14. The day has finally arrived, PlayStation fans — Resident Evil VII biohazard is out today! It seems uniquely human to seek out things that scare us, doesn’t it? From campfire stories to terrifying films, many of us live to be scared, thrilled, and exhilarated. Capcom has heard your cries for true survival horror. We’re proud to say that Resident Evil VII biohazard returns to the series’ roots while delivering a fresh new experience unlike anything you’ve seen in the Resident Evil franchise. The latest game in the franchise takes the ordinary Ethan Winters to a run-down plantation house in Dulvey, Louisiana, in search of his missing wife, Mia. Not all is well at the old Baker house, however; the entire mansion is falling apart, nobody’s heard from the residents in years, and there have been several reports of people going missing from the surrounding area, never to be heard from again. If you’ve played the final Beginning Hour demo, then you’re likely already familiar with the corroded corridors, the twisted Jack Baker, and the fate of anyone who’s unfortunate enough to cross his path. Jack is just one of the family members waiting for you in this house from hell, though. As you make your way through the mansion, you’ll have to decide what’s best in true survival horror fashion: will you fight back against the horrors that wait you? Or will you conserve your resources and run? If that doesn’t sound terrifying enough, for those of you with PlayStation VR, you’ll be able to experience the entire game, from beginning to end, in a flexible, optional PS VR mode to play as much or as little as you want in immersive VR. For those of you with a 4K TV and a PS4 Pro, you’ll be able to enjoy full 4K resolution with incredibly crisp graphics and even more detailed textures. Plus, Resident Evil VII biohazard will be able to take advantage of HDR on compatible TVs, no matter what model of PS4 you have. We’ve also got a tantalizing look at some upcoming DLC packs for you to sink your teeth into once you’ve completed the main game! PS4 users get access to the Banned Footage DLC first, so if you have the Deluxe Edition or a Season Pass, you’re all set to get these as soon as they launch. You can purchase each pack separately. The first pack, Banned Footage Vol. 1, will be available starting January 31 for $9.99, and includes two tapes as well as a new mode: Bedroom: Figure out how to escape from a locked room — but don’t let Marguerite Baker know you’ve been out of bed. Nightmare: Fend off waves of enemies and survive until morning while crafting useful items and traps to stay alive. Extra Mode: Ethan Must Die: A tough-as-nails mode separate from the tapes and story of the main game. (Does not support PS VR). The second pack, Banned Footage Vol. 2, will be available starting February 14 for $14.99, and includes two more tapes as well as a new mode: 21: Gamble life and limb in a deadly game run by Lucas Baker. Daughters: See what the Baker family was like before the tragic events of Resident Evil 7 biohazard. Extra Mode: Jack’s 55th Birthday: Race against the clock and feed Jack tons of food in this comical extra game mode separate from the tapes and story of the main game. (Does not support PS VR) We’ll have more information on these Banned Footage volumes and other DLC soon, so keep an eye out! Do you have what it takes to survive? There’s only one way to find out. Resident Evil 7 biohazard is available today. Welcome to the family. View the full article

  16. Games nowadays can be exactly what you want them to be. With so many hybrid genres, you can find games that blend every aspect you desire into a single title. ArmaGallant: Decks of Destiny is no different. Coming to PS4 this April, ArmaGallant blends RTS, MOBA, and deck building into one unique, magical multiplayer experience. In ArmaGallant, you play a mage capable of crafting powerful armies to fight in one-on-one or two-on-two multiplayer arena battles. Each creature and spell in ArmaGallant brings something different to the battlefield. Build your deck to match your playstyle and outwit your opponent by playing the best combination of cards. As you win battles, you will unlock more cards, fortifying your deck and strengthening your army. You will also have the opportunity to use your gold winnings to level up your cards to affect more damage. Summon monsters to capture points, use a myriad of spells to cast direct damage on opponents, and even hide in dark, lush forests to evade your enemies. You devise your desired game plan. Will you strategically position your army (made up of melee, ranged, and flying classes) around the map, go out like a spellcasting maniac, or utilize your environment to gain a tactical advantage? The choice is up to you; every single battle you engage in will be vastly different from the last. And can we talk for a second about the art? Aside from the dynamic gameplay, ArmaGallant is just nice to look at. When you’re putting together decks made of brilliantly drawn fantasy creatures, you want to feel the magic they hold. The vibrant, 3D illustrations are striking, bringing to life the elemental properties of each card and character. If you want to see more, check out the new trailer we released today! ArmaGallant: Decks of Destiny will be available April 4 on PS4. View the full article
  17. This is Dalton from Bandai Namco and I’m excited to announce that the next chapter in the legendary Tekken series will finally land in the hands of fighting game fans on June 2, 2017 when Tekken 7 hits PS4! With the faithful 3D battle system intact, Tekken 7 takes the franchise to the next level with photorealistic graphics and innovative features and fighting mechanics. Select characters from an expansive roster of your favorites and new challengers, each with a distinct set of deadly techniques, martial arts moves, and combos. Tekken 7 represents the final chapter of the 20-year-long Mishima feud. Experience the epic showdown to the emotionally charged family warfare between the members of the Mishima Clan as they struggle to settle old scores and wrestle for control of a global empire. The 7th King of the Iron Fist Tournament has begun and the world now hangs in the balance! So what’s new in Tekken 7? Besides a dedicated story mode and an expanded roster of new characters, there’s also some brand new gameplay mechanics including… Rage System As your life bar depletes it will eventually start flashing red, indicating you’ve entered “Rage†mode. Once in “Rage†your character will deal more damage as well as gain access to two all-new devastating moves: the Rage Art and Rage Drive! Rage Art A super powerful armored attack that allows you to absorb hits and power through an enemy assault that can turn the tide of the match in the blink of an eye. The Rage Art provides players an easy comeback mechanic when they are far behind in any given match. Rage Drive While not as destructive as the Rage Art, the Rage Drive is a strategic alternative that unleashes a devastating combo that will punish any opponent. Power Crush Also an armored attack, this move will power through most attacks and shift momentum in your favor. The Power Crush can be risky if thrown out carelessly, but if timed properly, it will give you a physical and mental advantage. Akuma From Street Fighter Akuma joins the fray complete with his Shoto-style moveset. Akuma is very unique fighter in that he can utilize an EX Meter, allowing him to pull off EX & super moves. The Great Demon comes to Tekken armed with many of his classic attacks, but each with a new spin and the potential to be comboed in unique ways. We’re also happy to announce our Tekken 7 Collector’s Edition featuring an awesome 12†by 18″ figure depicting Kazuya and Heihachi locked in an epic showdown. It will also include a special collectable Steel Book and the official Tekken 7 soundtrack. Additionally, anyone who pre-orders Tekken 7 will receive access to Eliza who previously appeared in Tekken Revolution! We’re in it for the long haul with Tekken 7 — the release is just the beginning! We’re also announcing the Season Pass to get you access to three content packs which feature new playable characters, stages, a game mode, and a bonus 35-piece Metallic Costume Pack! More details to come in the future. And to top it off, we haven’t forgotten about Tekken’s long history on PlayStation. Tekken 7 will feature exclusive content on PS4: a Jukebox mode will allow you to create playlists composed of songs from previous games in the series and listen to them while playing the game. We’re also including some exclusive costumes for certain characters, straight out of Tekken 4 and Tekken 2 for Jin, Xiaoyu, and King. We can’t wait for the fans to get their hands on Tekken 7 on June 2, 2017! See you all in the arena! View the full article

  21. Uncanny Valley is an unsettling, story-driven survival horror game containing a unique consequence mechanic. You’ll have to play through it multiple times to reveal all of its darkest secrets when it launches February 7 on PS4 and PS Vita, with cross buy support and a 15% PS Plus discount! Now to go into a little more detail about Uncanny Valley. We’ve always loved open sandbox games with a lot of possibilities. Playing only one way can be a chore though, so we want to present choices not only in the story but also the gameplay. To that end we decided to invest time into making the game feel more natural. Let’s say you’re locked in a room. You see a sturdy cart there, which you can push and break down the door with. There’s also a vent, so you can climb through it and you’re free. Maybe you found an axe earlier and you can destroy the doors, meaning you don’t have to find a key. This was our first concern –making the game logical. As much as we love Silent Hill games, we don’t want to create key hunting fetch quests if you can simply destroy the door. For the most part there still needs to be some sort of logical progression through the game. That’s our advantage over 3D games — we can make things like that happen more easily. What you do also has an impact on the story. Let’s go back to the previously mentioned situation where you break down the doors with a cart. When you do that, it’s going to be loud and that might attract hostile attention. If you go through a vent they might also hear you, or it could be a trap — you don’t want to be in a tight space with no escape when they find you. So the gameplay creates dilemmas. When we back that with the consequence system, you will actually have to think things through before you do something you’ll regret. There will be only one save game file per playthrough, meaning you can’t go back and change what happened to your character to achieve the best result. As for the consequence system, we are keeping it balanced. There will never be a situation where you will be too damaged to escape or progress through the story — you won’t be put in a wheelchair for the rest of the game! It’s a thin line between creating something that will be punishing and still fun, but through testing we will manage to find that perfect middle. And, as we offer a lot of options through playing, you will still be able to advance. Some consequences might affect the world, side characters, and how the story progresses, so it’s not always your personal health on the line. Now you know our goal. Create an atmospheric, scary horror game with logical progression and consequences that shape your character — and the world. We want to keep the gameplay fresh and interesting throughout the experience and tell an atypical story for a horror title. Combining all that, we aim to create a great game: Uncanny Valley. 22. What would you do if you were a lone survivor on a Martian colony? You can find out in Subterrain, an underground survival game with old-school, hardcore play. Subterrain is my first indie game I’ve worked on after spending much of my career in AAA game development. When I set out to create Subterrain, I didn’t know what to make of it. All I had in my mind was a simple “What if?†Inspirations came from everywhere. This is an open-world survival game, which means there are no set missions. You must experiment and find your own way in order to survive. Find clues scattered around the colony, upgrade and craft in order to achieve your ultimate goal: escape. The task isn’t easy, because you not only have to struggle against your own bodily needs, but you’re also racing against time. The world around you is constantly evolving with increasing threats. You’ll pay for any bad decisions you make. The colony will eventually overwhelm you. At one point you may find yourself struggling to find food. You’re being hunted by relentless mutants. And when you lock yourself in the toilet and give yourself a moment of relief, your base is invaded by mutants and you must return to defend it. But then you find out that you’re running out of oxygen… It’s an amazing feeling to be in a position where people around the world are enjoying the work you have created across many difficult years. The memories my team and I have of our journey are simply amazing! All the love and hate that we have received from the fans, mixed with personal feelings and guilt about the time that I could not spend with my family, is overwhelming. I give my salute to all the indie game developers who have not given up, and made their dreams come true. The financial success is important, but it’s not the most important thing in the world. And I hope that I can continue on this journey for years to come. In closing, I would like to personally thank everyone who has been involved in the making of this game. This simply could not have happened without you. The launch of Subterrain itself is a reward and a triumph. This is for you, and all the players around the world. View the full article
  23. Here at Tripwire, we’re really excited to introduce you all to the first major free content pack for Killing Floor 2 on PS4: The Tropical Bash Content Pack. At Tripwire we strongly believe in not splintering the player base by charging for map packs. This way we ensure that all players can play together all the time because they all own the same maps. The update brings an all-new tropical map ZED Landing, plus the Bone Crusher, a brutal new Berserker melee weapon, and The Gorefiend, a devastating dual-bladed version of the Gorefast ZED to fight. In addition to this content, we’ve added a system that allows weapons to belong to more than one Perk class, which we’re calling the Dual Perk system. Finally, we couldn’t resist some hilarious all-new Emotes players can trigger in game. ZED Landing is a beautiful new map set against the backdrop of a plane crash and a giant volcano. The volcano is not just for looks: it erupts during the battle and triggers a lava flow that enters the play space and can become a hazard for players. The eruption also dramatically changes the look of the map from a beautifully clear sunny day with long site lines to a grim, dark foggy map with much less visibility. The Bone Crusher is a combination shield and mace that is devastating to the ZED horde. It’s extremely versatile, allowing you to perform quick, light attacks with the mace, send ZEDs flying with a powerful shield bash, or use the shield to block and parry the incoming ZED attack barrages. It’s the perfect weapon for Berserkers who want to go all melee with their most powerful weapon, as they now have an alternative to the Eviscerator. The Dual Perk weapon system allows some weapons to belong to more than one Perk when they are a natural fit, increasing the weapon variety for some of the Perks. For example you can now use the Vlad 1000 Nail Gun, The Incendiary Trench-gun, or the Medic Shotgun with the Support Perk. Another example is that the Commando Perk can now make use of the Medic Assault Rifle, or the M16 M203 Assault Rifle when facing off against the ZED hordes. What’s scarier than a Gorefast with one arm and one blade? How about a tougher, more powerful Gorefast with two arms, two blades, new attacks, and a massively creepy mutated tongue? Enter the Gorefiend. The Gorefiend has a greater chance of spawning on higher difficulties and definitely shakes things up with his powerful and devastating spin attacks. All is not doom and gloom, though. Sometimes we need a little light-heartedness to break up the horror and gore. We’ve added all new Emote animations that players can trigger during gameplay. One Emote comes for free and the rest are available from opening an Emote crate that can drop during play. If you’re not into opening crates, you now have the option to recycle them into cosmetic or weapon skin material that you can eventually craft into new items instead. The Tropical Bash Content Pack is available for free on PSN for all owners of Killing Floor 2. If you haven’t picked up Killing Floor 2 yet you can get it for 33% off from Jan 19 to 23 on the North American PlayStation Store. View the full article
