  1. We have liftoff! Today marks the arrival of Robinson: The Journey on PlayStation VR, and after a lot of hard work for an amazing new platform, we’re very excited to be able to share the launch trailer with you. We first announced Robinson back in June 2015, and since then we’ve been obsessed with delivering on our promise of a game that offered an “unparalleled sense of presence†in a virtual world. Our inspiration for Robinson grew from themes that captured our imaginations as kids: science fiction, fantastical journeys, and, of course, dinosaurs. Stepping into the shoes of Robin — a young boy who is stranded on the mysterious planet of Tyson III — you’ll discover how PS VR has the power to bring all those elements to life in an entirely new way. In your quest to discover the fate of your missing crewmates, you’ll come face to face with fantastical creatures, collaborate with two starkly contrasting allies, and uncover a world bursting with detail and lore. Like all good journeys, Robinson also packs an emotional punch — placing you at the center of a story that will draw you deeper into the game world and — we hope — live long in your memory. It’s always a special moment for developers to reach launch day. Partly because the hard work is done, but mainly because it’s the day we get to share the game with the people we’ve been making it for all along. The journey starts here. Over to you. 5. Root Letter is a unique game in terms of atmosphere and people have always asked: “What was the inspiration for it?†Root Letter is a very personal project for us. Character designer Minoboshi Taro and I share a passion for Japanese teen movies from the seventies. We always wanted to work on something inspired by those feelings. Things like first loves and memories from our time at school. The Kadokawa Group has always had a wealth of mystery series, either as books or movies, so we thought we should work on a videogame with similar themes too, following Kadokawa’s established tradition. One of the main things we wanted to do was create a setting that was different, to show a side of Japan people don’t often see. Shimane is interesting in that there are not many cities where the mountains meet the sea. One such place is the town of Matsue. We also wanted to set the game in a little town, far away from a big metropolis like Tokyo. There is a good reason for this. In a small town, more than in big cities, people grow up and live their entire lives maintaining the same relationships. This game is about how those relationships evolve, while exploring one of humanity’s most enduring personal questions: “What if I made different choices in the past?†One of the embodiments of this feeling — of nostalgia, and the permanence of the past — is the letter. A means of communication that’s not often used anymore, but in our youth they were very personal things. They are the perfect means to explore the past of a person — but they can also be very misleading personal artifacts, especially when telling a story or recounting the past. Also, letters gave the reader a big sense of expectation, especially in pen-pal relations. I think this is something everyone can relate to. I guess the modern day equivalent is the feeling you get when you eventually meet an online friend in person. This is just one of the themes we wanted to explore. Relationships, and how human beings grow emotionally, are complicated processes, so obviously there are lots of nuances in the life of a person. When you are young, you have dreams and expectations that are not always met by reality. Somehow, through letters, we capture a moment in the life of the main characters. And then, like in a time capsule, we have them living it again through player investigations — and, of course, the various reactions are not always pleasant. Ultimately though, we wanted to have a game that felt truly grounded in reality. We wanted the player to feel they grew to know someone for better or worse, but also to feel that they had come to know a location and its citizens very well. We worked extremely closely with the authorities in Shimane Prefecture, for example. We went searching for locations and, during the process, we asked the people we met to be in the game. They also helped us to find more interesting places, they checked the script to add some color with local dialect and expression — everything happened very naturally. We are really looking forward to seeing players’ feedback on Root Letter, especially as it is rooted in Japanese culture. But we are also sure that the themes in the game — like nostalgia and youth — are universal. So I am sure that, on a certain level, there will be a connection that transcends cultural differences! We hope that western gamers can enjoy a journey in the life of a normal Japanese person and experience some thrill with the story — and perhaps a desire to come to Japan and visit Shimane prefecture! As you know, Root Letter is the first in the Kadokawa Mystery Game series. We already have a few ideas for the sequel. We had three locations in Japan as possible settings. For the first game, Root Letter, we chose Shimane. The next title could be very different, but the Kadokawa Game Mystery series will be always connected by three elements: the digital actresses, a location with an amazing history and, obviously, an interesting story driven by a great mystery! I very much hope you all enjoy Root Letter and thank you kindly for all your support! View the full article
  6. First off: thank you. Looking back on the last two years since we started working on Rez Infinite, and the last 15 years since the launch of the original Rez (the anniversary is on the 22nd of this month, actually!), I’m filled with all kinds of emotions, but one most of all: gratitude. Gratitude to all our long-time fans for spreading the word about the original Rez all these years and making this new re-mastered version possible in the first place; gratitude to our development partners at Monstars and Resonair, who blew away even my expectations in bringing the all-new Area X level to life; gratitude to Sony for believing in our vision for Rez Infinite and supporting us from the start (including our crazy idea to put me on stage with our LED-bedazzled Synesthesia Suit!); And gratitude to everyone who ordered our vinyl soundtrack / art book, physical disc version, or other goods via our friends at iam8bit (coming soon!). But of course I’m most grateful to all of you who’ve tried out Rez Infinite for yourself! The overwhelmingly positive critical response is better than we could have ever hoped for, and continuing to see people’s reactions online is my favorite part of each day. Seeing so many heartfelt, emotional reactions from players of all types—fans old and new, those playing on PS4 and those playing on PS VR, whether trying out classic Rez or playing the new content of Area X—is exactly why we started this journey in the first place. And that journey isn’t over yet. One of the goals behind this new version of Rez—and a big reason why we added “Infinite†to the name—is we wanted current and future gamers to be able to enjoy Rez. Which is why I’m proud to formally announce support for Sony’s latest hardware, PS4 Pro. All the images on the page were captured directly from PS4 Pro hardware. Click through to see them at full 4K resolution. The benefits you’ll see in Rez Infinite on your PS4 Pro depend on your home setup, but, for example, those of you lucky enough to own a 4K-capable display can enjoy both classic Rez and Area X in stunning 3840 x 2160 resolution; that’s right – the entire game runs in native 4K! We zoomed way in here to show how the increased resolution (standard PS4 left, PS4 Pro on the right) means smoother color gradients. From classic Rez’s simple shapes and stark lines to all the thousands of tiny particles that make up everything in Area X, this increased resolution brings a sharpness and crisp clarity that really adds to the experience. (In fact, the first time we saw Rez Infinite running on a PS4 Pro at 4K here at Enhance Games, a big group of us spontaneously gathered around to gape at it, even though we’d all been seeing those same levels running on a normal PS4 everyday for months!) Similarly, those of you who have PS VR hooked up to your PS4 Pro might notice Area X looking a little different than you’re used to—that’s because the image being passed along to each of your eyes is being rendered at a higher resolution (1920 x 1080, instead of 1440 x 810 on a standard PS4), before being passed to the PS VR headset. Even though the final resolution it’s displayed at on the headset in the same either way, the extra rendering from the PS4 Pro makes a difference: each particle looks a little more clear, a little more solid, adding up to objects and enemies that look more distinct and “real,†whether close-up or at a distance. Of course you don’t need a PS4 Pro, or even PS VR, to enjoy Rez Infinite. But if you do decide to buy either or both, now or in the future, there’s nothing else to buy or even download to get these benefits for Rez Infinite—all of this is included right there in the current version. Think of it as our way of saying “thanks.†Again. View the full article

  8. When we started working on PS4 Pro, we knew the Infamous titles were going to be an amazing showcase for HDR and 4K resolution. If you played either of the games, you know that Infamous Second Son and Infamous First Light were a spectacle of vibrant superpowers and explosions inside a rainy Seattle cityscape. It all started with Second Son where we first introduced our incredible particle effects as Delsin discovers his own set of powers. Then in First Light (which is still one of my favorite projects we’ve made at Sucker Punch), Fetch had a style all her own, fast and deadly, with incredible neon powers. With our new patch to take advantage of the PS4 Pro, those effects have never looked better. There are numerous reasons to return to First Light and Second Son with PS4 Pro, but let me dial into the three big ones. First up is HDR. When we re-worked our engine to create Infamous Second Son for the PS4, we had a strict focus on realistic lighting and exposure. We wanted the art direction and tech to reflect realism in a way that immerses players in the damp, rainy streets of Seattle. We did a lot of work to ensure our sky, sun, and light sources felt like the real thing. So why is HDR such a big deal now? This patch, along with an HDR capable TV, pushes those crazy bright values even further. Yes, that means looking at the sun or sky in our game feels extremely bright, providing a level of contrast I’ve never seen in our game before. The vibrancy of the sky and lighting creates some really striking and beautiful moments. Furthermore, this particular feature will work on the standard PS4 as long as you have an HDR capable TV. The second reason is in the smaller details. In both games, the Seattle city streets are filled with incredible art from our hard working art team. Signs, coffee cups, puddles, fall leaves — this world is filled with little touches waiting to be noticed. With PS4 Pro’s increased resolution, those touches are even more crisp. You can see detail on bricks and signs that previously went unnoticed. When we created the Seattle landscape, we had a goal to make everything wet. That means reflections of those details on every surface. It also meant a fair amount of specular aliasing. The increased resolution improves this and many other alias issues. And if you don’t have a 4K TV, you’ll still see a smoother image as the PS4 Pro will scale down to match your 1080p display. The third — and best — reason to revisit the Infamous games on PS4 Pro is simple: the powers look amazing. Delsin’s smoke powers and Fetch’s neon powers are particularly impressive. Watching the original effects now in 4K and HDR, I notice details I didn’t even know existed. For example, when Fetch does a ground pound, waves of brilliantly flickering particles erupt in all directions. We even improved photo-mode to let you pause on powers. My favorite is winding up Fetch’s ultimate neon bomb and then quickly activating photo-mode to pause and observe the thousands of emissive particles bits forming around her. As a developer, it’s great to see games that we released two years ago come to life in more dazzling ways than ever before. The increased power, resolution, and HDR capabilities of the PS4 Pro breathe new life into every corner of the game. If you’re into lighting, rendering, or VFX, I would encourage you to check it out. Second Son and First Light are beautiful games on PS4, but on PS4 Pro, they’re an exciting window into the future. View the full article
  9. Great news for players of Nidhogg, the stabby multiplayer sword fighting game you love to play at parties and on lunch breaks… we are making Nidhogg 2! Swords, throwing knives, bow and arrows, giant axes, and head stomps! Beautiful new levels to explore and exploit! Electronic soundscapes to get stuck in your head and amp you up as you battle your friends and foe! We are launching Nidhogg 2 on PS4 in 2017, so get ready to make some frenemies with your boss, or start a war with your roommate! For those of you who don’t know about Nidhogg, here’s the basic idea: two players face off with swords. Win the duel and you can run ahead toward your side of the screen. Watch out, because your opponent will respawn in front of you and try to take back control of the camera. Make it all the way to the end to sacrifice yourself to the flying worm called Nidhogg! In Nidhogg 2 we are opening a disgusting-can-of-crazy and adding all new weapons like axes, knives, and bow and arrows… as well as new arenas that pulse with life complete with a gross new look by our talented artist Toby Dixon. Check out these screens from a level that takes you inside a dying nidhogg and out its butt! For the past few years Mark and I have been talking about all the ways we would improve Nidhogg. We got so excited we wanted to make the ultimate version of Nidhogg, so we decided to make Nidhogg 2. We wanted to focus on a few things to make it amazing, and settled on: updating the art style and animations, making super detailed, beautiful levels, a brand new soundtrack, and adding new weapons. We wanted to flesh out the world of Nidhogg and for us that meant a total graphical refresh. We were able to find a super talented artist, Toby Dixon, who totally understood the goofy grotesque vibe we were going for. Since there is a lot of back and forth within each game, we wanted the details to slowly emerge while you’re playing. You might not notice everything the first or second time playing, but eventually the tiny details will surprise and delight you! On the technical side of things, we are improving the whole way we rig animations; we’re able to create more complex bigger creatures through the use of skeletal animation. This helps out with things like big nidhogg heads with loose teeth, happy tree people, and of course the player animations. It’s been a lot of fun playing with traditional sprite animation combined with this new system! We’ve also built out lots of internal tools that all of us can use to craft levels. It’s super helpful for quickly adding art and seeing how it looks in-game. It was so much fun to work with Daedelus on the soundtrack to the first game, so we’re thrilled to have a couple new tracks from him in Nidhogg 2. We’re also filling out the bigger soundtrack with artists like Mux Mool, and Doseone. Stay tuned, because this soundtrack is just beginning to take shape and it’s already off the hook. Nidhogg 2 is not just about dueling with swords — this time you can wail on your friends with a bow and arrow, toss a throwing knife in their groin, or cleave them in half with a battle-axe! Each weapon has its own unique playstyle. The axe is a bit slower but has nice range and is unblockable. The throwing knife is the only weapon that can be thrown low. The bow and arrow is obviously great at long range, but arrows are easily blocked or dodged and you can run out. With all the different dynamics between weapons there are many more strategies and matches can play out in lots more different ways. If you happen to be in San Francisco this weekend, there will be a sneak preview of Nidhogg 2 playable at Day Of The Devs. View the full article
  10. Hey all — Jaffe here with a bunch of Drawn to Death news to share with you. As you may know, Drawn to Death had been available in a quasi-beta phase that we call Limited Access. During this time we collected a ton of insightful information from the community. After reviewing everything we learned during the Limited Access period, we have decided to officially launch Drawn to Death as a traditional paid title. For our Limited Access fans, we wanted to take this opportunity to confirm that we won’t be making any changes to the moment-to-moment gameplay. Drawn to Death is still the skill-based, hardcore shooter/brawler hybrid that it was always intended to be. With that, we’re excited to share a lot of the great content that will be included in Drawn to Death’s day-one package. Launch CharactersIf you’ve had a chance to play Drawn to Death during Limited Access, you know better than anyone else that mastering the intricacies of each character is as important as your skill on the sticks. In making the move from a free-to-play to a pay-to-play model, we’re now making all six main characters available to unlock at launch. That doesn’t mean that all of the characters will be unlocked immediately (That’s up to you, pal!), but they’ll all be there, as part of the core game experience. This change gives access to a variety of content right from the start, and provides players the opportunity to discover the playstyle that works best for them. And if you’re not familiar with the unique, deep characters of Drawn To Death, please know that when you unlock a character you get all of its moves, abilities, and weapons, right from the get-go. Skill-based combat is at the heart of Drawn to Death and we’ll never make you level up in order to gain better abilities. For example, here’s all the stuff Ninjaw can do right out of the box. (Click the image to expand). Launch LevelsDrawn To Death launches with 10 completely unique levels. Our launch lineup offers great visual and gameplay variety that will keep players engaged for a long time. Listed below are the levels available day-1, with more to be announced soon: Aliens have invaded the city! Battle on rooftops, inside crashed UFOS, and even underground as you fight your way through the fecal infested sewers of Alientown! The walls cry blood and the dead rise from the ground of Blood Bath, a uniquely colorful level with a large emphasis on vertical play and game winning booby traps! Fire breathing slot machines, pissed off dolphins, submerged nightclubs, and a punk rock Statue of Liberty serve as backdrop to this flooded metropolis, a beautiful but deadly battleground of the future! Launch WeaponsDrawn to Death launches with 26 weapons, some unlocked at the start, some that you must fight to earn. And just like all of the game’s characters, all of the weapons in your arsenal are designed to be balanced, each with its own pro and con, guaranteeing there are no overall “best†weapons, only weapons that are best for you! Launch ModesDrawn to Death will launch with the following game modes: Organ Donor: In this objective based mode, Players must shoot the heart out of an enemy’s chest. Then take the heart to a stationary base for 1 point. Take the heart to a moving base for 2X points! First Player to 20 points wins! Classic Deathmatch: First to 10 kills wins. Classic Team Deathmatch: First team with 20 kills wins. Core Deathmatch: First Player to 5 points wins. 1 kill = 1 point, but every time you die you lose a point. (Defense matters!) Core Team Deathmatch: Same as Core Deathmatch, but for teams. First team to 10 points wins. Brawl: In this mode, levels get smaller on the fly to create a more intense one-on-one battle/fighting game experience! New Mystery SystemsWe’re also introducing two new systems to the game: Volcano God and Sphynx. Both of these systems are key to unlocking a host of cool in-game prizes, goodies, and abilities. We’re not ready to go into details about them just yet, but these systems will be there at launch and will offer up a ton of meta, unlocking collection, and fun! There’s a lot more packed into Drawn to Death’s launch package and we look forward to showing off more great things in our next update, including our official launch date. Thanks for reading, we’ll be back soon! View the full article
  11. Could this year be any bigger? Not only are we launching out on a bold and exciting direction for the franchise with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare but, with help from our good friends at Raven Software, we’re releasing a lovingly, painstakingly remastered version of our studio’s classic game in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. It’s a fantastic year to be a gamer and even better year to be, or become, a Call of Duty player. The single-player campaign of Infinite Warfare tells an old-fashioned war story with a rich cast of characters and an emotional narrative arc. We leaned into our studio’s heritage and designed some of our most epic battles in a gritty, grounded military setting ever. We wanted to land the performances so much that we built a brand new, state-of-the-art performance stage to capture our cast. We believe we landed it and created a remarkable story. We can’t wait to hear your thoughts and see your reactions online! Of course, single player is just a part of what we developed this year. We added a ton of new features to create a multiplayer that’s uniquely suited to distinct play styles. There are layers of depth with Mission Teams, Crafting, Prototype Weapons, Combat Rigs, new equipment, new scorestreaks, and so much more. To help you get started with multiplayer, here are some pointers straight from Joe Cecot, our lead multiplayer designer: 1. Rigs are built around playstyles. The first 3 rigs unlocked are the Warfighter – Mobile Mid Ranger, the Merc – Defensive and the Synaptic – Run and Gun. Choose wisely. 2. The NV4 Assault Rifle is at its best when used at long range. Keep your distance and pick your opponents to pieces. 3. One of the first pieces of Tactical Equipment is the Personal Radar. Pop this outside of a fire fight to access on screen radar to help you locate enemy players. 4. Rigs are your Battle Suit. If your current Rig selection isn’t working you can hot swap mid match to a new Rig Payload and a new Rig Trait. Your Payload meter carries over! 5. Mission Teams are a whole new layer of progression in Infinite Warfare which allows you to unlock specific Rig Customization, Camos, Weapon Accessories, and Prototype weapons. Pay attention to your mission in the upper right. Completing missions ranks up your Mission team faster! 6. Directed Energy weapons are always moving ammo from their stock into their loaded battery. Unlock the Fusion Mag attachment to add a rechargeable battery that fill quickly without pulling from your stock. In addition to multiplayer, our cooperative mode, Zombies in Spaceland will delight your retro and zombie-loving soul with its fresh and radical take on a zombie apocalypse happening in a 1980s amusement park. How long before the plethora of easter eggs we put into the mode are cracked? It’ll be exciting to see! Post up your videos and hints as we believe everyone will have to work together to get the full 411. 15. Killing Floor 2 is an action-packed, cooperative shooter with terrifying enemies, a unique blend of weaponry and perk classes, and the most advanced gore system ever created. PS4 Pro has allowed us to take Killing Floor 2’s visuals to the next level of fidelity. Resolution, memory, and performance are the three key ways the PS4 Pro enhances Killing Floor 2. First on the point of resolution for players that have a 4K TV and a PS4 Pro. Killing Floor 2 runs at a higher 1800p resolution that is then upscaled to 4K 2160p resolution, unlocking the gaming potential of your 4K screen. The extra resolution increases overall environment, weapon, and character detail beyond what is perceivable on a 1080p display. Environment details such as foliage and distant level meshes have a new level of definition. Enemies (Zeds) in the world seen at medium to long distances have many more pixels defining them, making it just a bit easier to get that head shot. Killing Floor 2’s over-the-top gore system has never looked better with persistent blood reflecting the world and characters in high resolution. The extra memory on PS4 Pro allows us to activate our ultra textures that have higher resolution over the standard PS4. The ultra textures add extra surface detail to everything in the game including first-person weapons, arms, zeds, and the levels themselves. These high-res textures will be used whether the player is playing on a 4K TV or a standard 1080p display. In addition to the ultra textures, the extra memory allowed us to increase our dynamic shadow resolution. Killing Floor 2’s custom deferred renderer uses a number of shadowing techniques including dynamic shadows. When these dynamic shadows are used they will be crisper and higher resolution on PS4 Pro then the standard PS4. When playing on a 1080p TV, Killing Floor 2 is effectively super sampled, resulting in much higher quality and smoother anti-aliasing. All of this is achieved without compromising on performance. Killing Floor 2 runs at an increased frame rate when using a PS4 Pro on a 1080p display. Whether you have a 4K or 1080p TV, Killing Floor 2 is going to look amazing on a PS4 Pro. At Tripwire we love being at the forefront of emerging technology and strive for our games to be as visually stunning as possible. Looking to the future, it’s exciting to know that we can develop on such powerful hardware that allows us to unlock our true artistic and creative vision, and not have to compromise. This is the first time we’ve had a major hardware upgrade during a platform cycle that adds a lot more potential but doesn’t split the player base, since all PS4’s are compatible with each other. It’s also exciting that as virtual reality becomes more widely adopted, we’ll have hardware that can support its demanding performance and resolution requirements. We’re excited to release the new trailer today that was compiled completely from the PS4 Pro version of the game! Lastly, we’re excited to announce that a PS4 multiplayer open beta will be starting tomorrow on November 4 at 10:00 AM Pacific and will be running through Sunday November 6! The Killing Floor 2 open beta on PS4 will feature the following: 2 Multiplayer Modes — Survival and Versus Survival 3 Maps — Burning Paris, Biotics Lab, Evac Point 1 Offline Training Mission 9 Perk Classes 14 Characters The full version of Killing Floor 2 launches on November 18! 16. Tooth and Tail — the RTS designed for a controller — is coming to PS4! Lead the animal revolution with an army of flamethrowing Boars, mustard gas-lobbing Skunks, and a fighting force of World War One-era beasts. Hold on a sec… lemme introduce myself. I’m Andy Schatz, Creative Director at Pocketwatch Games. Our last release was a co-op heist game called Monaco: What’s Yours Is Mine. Monaco was notable for its simple controls and chaotic heists. Tooth and Tail approaches the RTS genre with a similar design vision: as the Flagbearer for your army of animals, you use a single button to rally your minions into battle. The game is incredibly easy to pick up and play, but is endlessly complex. Having trouble picturing it? I’ll describe two scenarios for you. The New RecruitsYou like strategy games, but you don’t feel good enough to play them online. Your BFF has never played an RTS, but is totally willing to play split-screen games with you. You pick up Tooth and Tail, starting with the Story Mode. Playing as the leader of the Longcoats, Arroyo Bellafide, you build a fortress of defensive emplacements and lead a squadron of drunken squirrels into battle. Your bestie watches as you recruit Kasha the sniper Fox, and says, “Hey, this looks like fun! Is it easy to play?†It sure is. Next thing you know, you are playing split-screen co-op late into the night. The GrandmasterYou’re godlike at Starcraft and you’ve played 1,000 hours of Age of Empires. You are skeptical that a controller-RTS can have truly deep strategy. You jump straight into the Arena, Tooth and Tail’s online competitive mode. Between the randomly generated maps and the customizable factions, you find that every match you play is entirely different. In one match, you sneak-attack over a hill with a fleet of dog-fighting Falcons. In another, you build an explosive Toad army to go knock on their front door. It isn’t long before you realize that this “distilled†RTS isn’t simple at all. It’s endless. We’ve been playing Tooth and Tail with a group of private alpha testers for three years now. Some of them were total noobs, others were hardcore gamers. The scenarios I described above have already happened. I’m super hyped to bring the game to PS4 and I hope you’ll follow Tooth and Tail’s development on Twitter as we roll towards launch. See you on the battlefield! View the full article
  17. As we approach the inevitable catastrophe known only as the “Earth Rage,†it’s time we formally meet some of the deadly denizens who will inhabit our post-civilization world and assist (or murder) you on your way up the Tower of Barbs. The world of Let It Die is home to quite a colorful cast of characters. Seemingly ripped from the pages of a gritty pulp comic, yet infused with a kitschy “pop†aesthetic, these characters manage to be eccentric, eclectic, and sometimes even helpful! Uncle Death (voiced by Jukka Hilden) is the first major character you will encounter on your adventure. This arcade-dwelling, skateboarding-slash-golf enthusiast literally brings you into the world as he introduces you to his favorite game ever. Luckily, he also sticks around to act as your personal guide and cheerleader. Providing a helpful reference book, some basic tips, and color commentary on your most brutal kills, Uncle Death is never too far from the action. He’s blunt, but also quick to compliment those who earn it. As a personal quirk, he insists on calling you “senpai†(a Japanese term of respect typically reserved for upperclassmen or those with more seniority) despite being about a thousand years your elder. Don’t let his appearance fool you, this reaper is anything but grim. At times, he can be downright wacky, but he does seem to enjoy this violent chaos a little too much… Kiwako Seto (Daveigh Chase) is the newest recruit at the most successful (presumably only) post-apocalyptic insurance company in town, Direct Hell. Despite the death and destruction around her, Kiwako is quite skilled at her job and manages to maintain composure despite her surroundings. She does tend to get a bit too excited upon witnessing what she considers to be a “GRUESOMAZING†death, but she never lets that stop her from politely offering her company’s standard insurance policy. You know, the one that brings you back from the dead. It’s the best seller, naturally. When she’s not busy working, Kiwako enjoys riding around on her signature scooter, the Yotsuyama Sick TNG, and posting new (likely gruesome) photos to her Pinstagram account, @kiwa.v_v.kiwa. The Tower of Barbs can be a pretty messy place, especially with all the death and destruction players leave behind in their wake. Luckily, The Jackals are there to clean it up and look classy doing it. Former criminals and former champions of a top secret martial arts championship, they were hand-picked by the mysterious Yotsuyama Group. As part of their “cleaning†duties, they are required to collect dead fighters. Highly-leveled fighters command a pretty hefty price, so their corpses (and remaining equipment) could be quite the desirable commodity for would-be scavengers. The Jackals are armed with equipment far superior to just about anything a player might come across in the tower, so interrupt their work at your own peril! Jackal X (Verne Troyer) is a former gangster and violent brute. Short tempered and possessing the skill to back it up, his beam saber will make quick work of those foolish enough to bother him. Y (Mark Rolston) is a former hitman and all around “cool guy.†He favors the more elegant beam gun when it’s time to dispatch his foes. Z (Traci Lords) is the only female in the group, and her past is shrouded in mystery. Though, perhaps her biggest mystery is how she obtained such an insane level of skill with her complicated-yet-deadly beam yo-yo! And with that, we have finally met a few of the charming characters players will encounter in Let It Die. This colorful cast is brought to life with Grasshopper’s signature style and even more incredible voice acting talent such as Steve Blum, Matt Mercer, Patrick Seitz, Fred Tatasciore, Laraine Newman, Billy Dee Williams, and Mark Hamill. Let It Die will be free-to-play and is coming soon exclusively to PS4. We hope you’ll stay tuned for more news and info about the latest installment of chaos brought to you by Grasshopper Manufacture and GungHo Online Entertainment. View the full article
  18. Hey everyone. Ratchet & Clank on PS4 marked the first appearance of our long-running heroes on the console. It’s a galactic space adventure filled with exotic planets, wild villains, and an arsenal not fit for this world. We’re pleased to be rolling out a free software update to the game to support the additional power that PS4 Pro offers. This patch should be available on or prior to the launch date of PS4 Pro. For users with a 4K TV, you’ll be able to play Ratchet & Clank at a much higher resolution, and if your TV supports it, in HDR using an HDMI 2.0 cable. PS4 Pro users with a 1080p TV will see a big increase in gameplay image quality as well. The technique we’re using to get to those better resolutions is something we’re calling Temporal Injection. This allows us to not only hit a much higher resolution, but also to do it with jaggie-eliminating anti-aliasing as well. The extra resolution and HDR’s ability to display even more of the colorful Solana Galaxy should combine for the best image quality you’ve ever seen in a Ratchet & Clank game. We’re really excited about the potential of the PS4 Pro and what it means for our games. From Ratchet & Clank (PS4) to our upcoming game with Marvel Entertainment, Spider-Man (working title), PS4 Pro gives us the power to release our best-looking games ever. And for those with an HDR-enabled TV but still using a regular PS4 or PS4 Slim, our patch will also enable HDR for Ratchet & Clank as well. We can’t wait for you to check out Ratchet & Clank on PS4 Pro! View the full article

  25. What’s up, everybody?! I’m Greg Miller, host of PS I Love You XOXO, and as of March, I’ll have been talking about PlayStation on the Internet for a decade. That’s a long time and a lot of PSN Trophies, but the thing that has made those 10 years so special is you. Discussing new PlayStation hardware, arguing about which Uncharted is the best, and getting to be part of your life each and every week — heck, sometimes each and every day — has been the best. So, how about we do it in person? I’m proud to announce that the Internet’s No. 1 PlayStation podcast PS I Love You XOXO is coming back to PlayStation Experience 2016. On Sunday, December 4, Colin Moriarty, Tim Gettys, a bunch of special guests, and I will take the stage at 12:00 PM Pacific. We’ll cover everything that’s happened at PS Experience, give away games, and probably talk about why 7-year-olds have no chance at being great hockey players. We… we get off topic sometimes. PlayStation Experience is my favorite show of the year. It’s all about one community coming together to celebrate what it loves. Colin and I have done a podcast at every PS Experience, and each time, you pack the room and leave no seat empty. I can’t tell you how much that means to us. We’ll never be able to thank you enough for going on this ride with us. I’ll see you every Tuesday for a new episode of PS I Love You XOXO on YouTube.com/kindafunnygames, but I really hope to see you on December 4. A baker’s dozen! View the full article
