-Rooster- Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 I got up this morning and saw my computer screen say this: Primary drive 0 not found Primary drive 1 not found Secondary drive 0 not found Secondary drive 1 not found strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility. This screen is black. I dont get any further then this I swapped the power molex from my cd drives to see if it was a power issue...still doesnt seem to help. Recently I installed/replaced my ram to 4gb.....It has been great for 2 weeks now this. Could it be the Motherboard? Any way to check? Just swapped my cables with cd rom cables and thats no worky.....I am in bios to check start sequece and it says neither my HDD or cd rom are installed......Am I doomed? Quote
Prane Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 I was gonna download that anti virus but I got high I really really meant to do it but I got high now my computer is going to die and I know why, because I got high, because I got high, because I got high! Is that what you are thinking right now Rooster? Quote
-Rooster- Posted July 10, 2009 Author Report Posted July 10, 2009 No, I havent smoked in a while now.....But this isnt a virus or anything like that. I think its a hardware failure. I just ordered an alienware PC for my mother-inlaw because she said she wanted to be able to play games. So I told her to give me her card and i would hook her up.....Well she will have an over kill pc...but i am now thinking I should have hit "Quantity 2". Quote
Chili327 Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 Dood, what alienware did you order.? Mine was originally an alienware, but there isn't much left of the original PC except the case. lol Quote
Xx-CHURCHY-xX Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 If it's saying Primary Disk 0 etc not found, that means that your PC isn't reading your hard drive at all. The chances are, your hdd crashed that's why it's not being detected. Try opening your PC and making sure all the wires from your motherboard to your hdd are hooked up correctly and not loose. If they're all secured and hooked up, then yeah, your hdd is fucked Quote
SnowBud Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 Yep sounds like your HD had died buddy. But it doesn't recongnize the CDROM either? Maybe your motherboard took a shit on you. Quote
SnowBud Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 Actually I'm changing my mind after re-reading. If it comes up with Primary drive 0 not found Primary drive 1 not found Secondary drive 0 not found Secondary drive 1 not found strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility. It's not finding any of your devices, this sounds more like a Motherboard issue IMO. Was the RAM you recently installed compatible with your motherboard? Does your motherboard accept 4GB of RAM? The RAM may or may not be related to the problem your having, I would try to reinstall your old RAM and see if this changes anything, just for a shot in the dark. If not I think its the board, I don't see how all of your drives would crash at once, it should at least still see the CDROM drive if it was just a dead HD. Quote
GOAT Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 Do you have another PC you could try the drives in? failure rate for hard drives is .034% that's 3-4 out of every 100. the chances that both went at the same time without some sort of electrical spike are very slim. this does sound like the main board amigo.. do you have a PC parts and repair place in your town? preferably near a local college campus.. take it there and have them test it for you.. if your town is like most other cities the PC shop near the campus is most likely the one that will be use to testing hardware for free and letting you know what you have to replace. HighTimesSW Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 thats funny, cause we (my roomates and I) have had 3 drives die in the last year, 2x 500 Gigs... and most recently my 250 Gig. (We have a lot of network traffic though, and use them a fair bit) Viruses don't attack H/W only S/W, or least from what I understand. When my 250 gig drive died, it pretty much read the same thing as I recall, the comp couldnt find it and since my OS was on that drive it wouldnt go anywhere past that point. It also was making terrible noises, and apparently the was the signal that my drive was dead The noises were kinda like a CD skipping in a CD player when you move it, but a bit louder. dunno if that helps. Quote
-Rooster- Posted July 10, 2009 Author Report Posted July 10, 2009 Yeah with the pc not recognizing anything as far as drives. I think the mother board is shot. I have done anything and everything you can do to the wires to switch them around and all that crap. I also have 2 hard drives so at least one should be recognized. I may bring my HDD to my buddies and hook it up to his pc....Just when i was able to play games good too ya know. My pc could take max 4gb ram...should be cool for that. The whole pc is like 8 years old now...It has a new HD as of like 6 months ago and I wiped the whole pc then. Chili, The alienware I ordered for her is I believe area 51 750i. She could ahve got alot better stuff in it but she wont play any good games...just minor stuff but i wanted her to get this anyways LOL. we put a quad in it though. Wanted to try the i7 but eh. I looked up PC's all night.....hmmm what to do. Im on my laptop now...not cool. The wife took this over a while ago. Quote
willywonka159 Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 Goat ]failure rate for hard drives is .034% that's 3-4 out of every 100. Ha, fail. 3-4 out of every 100 is 3%, not .034%. And to answer Rooster, porn can do that you know. I know. Oh, boy, do I know. Quote

GOAT Posted July 11, 2009 Report Posted July 11, 2009 yea MRS. School Marm! that was a typo or just didn't fully hit the last zero since I was trying to illustrate the rarity of hard drive failures.. so it was only a finger fail not a brain fail. LOL Quote

Chili327 Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 I'm thinking Rooster is more like me in that shooters are best left to the consoles. lol PC games are better for Strategy type games. RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 is awesome too.!! I built the sweetest water slide park ever. ;D Quote
-Rooster- Posted July 17, 2009 Author Report Posted July 17, 2009 Yeah, Im big on SIMULATION games for the pc. I enjoy every sim city, all roller coaster tycoons, The Sims, Sim farm, and even Empire earth, stronghold, things like that. Not sure about civ 4, may look into it. I cant wait till the pc gets here.....then the fun will begin...first build for me! Quote
Xx-CHURCHY-xX Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 The Sims 3 owns.. you should definitely try that one out, if you're into those kind of games. Quote
-Rooster- Posted July 17, 2009 Author Report Posted July 17, 2009 Try it out? Why do you think I jacked my pc to 4gigs? I loved that game...played it a few times then my pc died! Quote
Chili327 Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 I like the Sim City games, but not The Sims. Telling people to sleep, eat & shit is not as fun as you would think. lol Quote
