***Rumor*** Modern Warfare 2 Beta details at GamesCom for Xbox & PS3

The Leipzig Games Convention is moving onwards and upwards with a new name this year: GamesCom. The last time Infinity Ward attended the event was way back in 2007 shortly before the release of ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’. Xboxic was at the event first hand to play the game before release and witness the press conference which included a Beta announcement. It seems likely through leaked information handed to Xboxic yesterday that Infinity Ward are planning a Déjà Vu moment and will announce details of the upcoming ‘Modern Warfare 2 Beta’ at this years GamesCom event in Germany.

 

The GamesCom event will take place next week on August 17th - August 19th. Information has been handed to Xboxic which leads us to believe that Robert Bowling (aka FourZeroTwo) the community spokesman for Infinity Ward will announce details via a press release of a Beta signup through modernwarfare2.com, with those who have pre-ordered ‘Prestige Edition’ of the game having immediate access. It is assumed that the retailers with exclusive pre-order sales will soon start emailing web site tokens to customers when the Beta is live. The web site token will then need to be registered at modernwarfare2.com with your email address to later receive your chosen Xbox360 or PS3 Beta console redeem code.

 

The Beta is rumoured to go live by September 10th and close towards the end of October. Until Infinity Ward release an official statement this can only remain a rumour. The Gamescom convention with Robert Bowling confirmed as in attendance will take place next week - so only time will tell if the information we received is correct.

If there is a beta, I don't see it coming to the PS3. XBOX has IW locked down. Hell, after the first Modern Warfare, I'm surprised XBOX didn't lock up the whole game.

really? Cause I have it pre ordered and he told me I can pick up at Midnight the night of release. Nov. 10th. I will call when they open to validate this!

Just got off the phone with Game stop and they confirmed that everything will be released the same day. THE 10th. So you WILL NOT get it earlier.... If there is somethng I am missing, Please inform me of it!

Its in November its not announced yet but all District Managers know about this. I confirmed with two different DM's which are my friends. I don't think its that big of a deal any way. Getting it a couple of days early is not going to hurt anyone and doesn't mean someone should buy Night Goggles lol.

And I am REALLY trying to get on this GAP with sony so I can get this beta shit. I think I am close, but I am not sure what I need to do to take me over the edge.

After I registered my second PS3 after my first one died about two years ago I got in. There's ways or at least they say there's ways to make yourself stick out. I just got into the MAG beta!!!!!!

Could it be a regional thing? I just asked the DM at my gamestop and he says they will be released on the same night as the other editions.

Yea, Mets i gotta call bullshit on that. Maybe the regonial managers will be playing it early, but i dont think they will be releasing the game to ANYONE before the release date (midnight of)

I talked to one in NY and one in NJ. Thats what they told me. Again I am just going by what they said. I heard a few mention it on WAW. Who care anyway? lol It will only be a day or two early anyway.

I learned my lesson on that pre-order stuff thanks to BF BC and then GTA. Some body in town will have it for sale that day it releases. It happens every time. I bet I can get the night goggles too.

 

Gamestop try and not sell you one because they has preorders. But if you talk to them nice they usually give one up. Because they know all the preorders won't fulfill. But then they have a whole case of game not preordered.

Wal-mart won't sell you one because the clerk hasn't got the OK to put them on the shelf yet although there sitting in a box behind the counter.

But GameCrazy hardly even gets customers and will gladly sell you one. May even give you something free. If there's a clerk working that day that sells the games.

I remember the day Confrontation launched I had the game that day while almost everyone else had to wait until the next day to get it, and I got mine at GameCrazy at noon on release day, all the while Gamestop is "waiting" on UPS lol.

Yeah, that happens at our gamestops all the time. When I went to pick up my TW10 I gave her my receipt and started looking around. She came back made me sign, handed me the bag and I walked out. Went into SB next door and was looking while I waited and realized she gave it to me for the Wii. Receipt plainly says PS3. She was out of copies, but luckily the other store across town had a copy. Dumb-asses.

I have done the UPS thing. It might have been for socom 2. But with most midnight releases they have in stock a day earlier. AS far as reserving a game that is not a midnight release. I wont due to the fact I can go to wallmart at midnight. (ex. MLB The Show) and get it.

 

Chili you would also be right. People can get in major trouble releasing anything before the "street date"
