Michigan has voted Democrat since 1988. Home of our auto industry. Michigan and our auto industry is in the toilet. The Mayor if Detroit is facing jail time. Obama backed that Mayor. Maybe those in Michigan should re-think how they have been voting. I mispelled "our" and corrected it. Hog...

So, if some a**hole on TV tells you it's so, you believe it? It's like I haven't said a thing. Think for yourself. Use more than one news source. Watch the debate, you can pull it up on the web and make up your own mind. Do that, come back here and comment on what YOU believe. Don't be a sheep. Don't spout what some "expert" who's making more money than you or I for getting on TV and doing nothing more than talking is making. Verify for yourself. Make up your own mind and be proud of that. I'm a freaking expert, I have a mortgage, I have car payments, I have a kid in college. Who is going to tell me how tough it is? Who is going to tell me what I need that I don't already know? I need some tool on cable news to tell me how it is? I don't think so.

Iffil did do a professional job in the debate. I would exepct nothing less from someone being paid to do a job. She let a couple of things go that I didn't agree with, but she was not biased. Just to set the record straight. I never have a problem with the truth. I'm glad it turned out this way.

I would just add.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJlSt9ib3ns&eurl=http://hotair.com/archives/2008/10/02/carl-cameron-reuters-pressing-to-have-palins-ears-checked-for-secret-radios/ Palin did have her hair pulled back over her ears. So eat the Rueters! But since we are searching for stuff. Let's look for Biden's integrity, like when he told the story of being forced to land by enemy fire in Afghanistan, but it was a forced landing due to weather and those with Biden on that trip are on the record it was no big deal. Anyone remember the Tulza - Clinton incident? You know, if you have never faced real danger, lie about facing real danger. Someone please, please, and please ask me to back that ^^^^ up. I've got it cocked and ready in my holster.

First, I made a post about the moderator might be biased on a book she is or has written. Iffil did a proffesional job, nothing less should be expected. While I don't feel the need to pat her on the back for doing her job professionally, there was a question of bias, and she wasn't. So I'll clear the record on that point. Iffil did cut Palin off twice and allowed Biden on three occasions to violate debate rules to counterpoint out of turn. But it wasn't over the top. So I will say she did her job well. Even though everytime Palin was cut off Palin quit talking. Today the Obama campaign said what a great debater Palin is. To lower the expectation bar. I think Palin should debate Obama next. Palin did against Biden what McCain should have done against Obama. Palin countered every point, and had the history to back up those counters. She used Biden's history against him, such as Biden would be "honored to be Vice President to John McCain". But now he can't agree with McCain on anything. Politics, and Palin called him on it. Palin spoke intelligently on every subject. Biden didn't have an answer for his own critisism's of Obama, they are on the recored, he said it and there is no use in denying it. Both had a couple of mis-spoken words. Not a lot to make of each of them. Palin won because she showed the Palin I know of and didn't show the Palin that was in the Gibson and Couric interviews. She was more like herself, the person I had seen in my research when her name first came up 4 months ago as a possible VP candidate. Biden didn't hurt his side be being his over talking and truth stretching self (forced to land in Afghanistan due to enemy fire but really it was weather conditions in a military helicopter). He made a couple misleading statements, mainly with his agreement McCain and now is counter to his stance as Obama's VP pick. Palin also covered her own record. And it's impressive. She's done a lot as a rookie Governor. Biden should have creamed her and didn't. So Palin wins. Now if we can just get the McCain advisors to stop over-handeling her we will be in business. The woman got 80% approval ratings in Alaska by herself, she doesn't need handling.

Found out about this today. Gwen Iffil, the person moderating the Vice Presidential debates Thursday has written a book. http://www.randomhouse.com/catalog/display.pperl/9780385525015.html The Title: The Breakthrough Politics and Race in the Age of Obama. It is due for publication and release in January 2009. Why is this an issue? If Obama doesn't win, the book is worthless and Iffil stands to lose a lot of money. Surely she told those considering her for a moderator that she has penned a book on Obama. Right? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26978194/?GT1=43001 Wrong: The host of PBS’ “Washington Week†and senior correspondent on “The NewsHour†said she did not tell the Commission on Presidential Debates about the book. The commission had no immediate comment when contacted by The Associated Press Granted Iffil also say's in the article that she hasn't written the part about Obama for the book. But if you look closely at the book link I first posted, you will see that the book has 272 pages. Now either Iffil is such a phenomenal writer that she knows exactly how may pages a book she writes will be at the time of publish, or she's lying already. A publisher will do some editing, sometimes taking stuff out and sometimes sending it back to the writer for more. So even more amazing that the number of pages of the book are already known if it hasn't been written yet as Iffil say's. It really doesn't speak well of a news organization, PBS (Government funded no less) that can't come up with a moderator who has not written a book supporting one of the candidates (anyone who believes she will write anything critical of Obama is dillusional), has failed to reveal that she has written the book or at the very least she had a deal to do so, and now claims not to even have written the Obama part of the book even though Obama is part of the title and the number of pages is known. Know your sources. Be informed. Verify for yourself. Make up your own mind. (modification was I forgot to post news link on the Iffil story)

true that would suck' date=' same thing as being jack thompsons son. if you dont know who thompson is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkdSKFXA5tI&feature=related [/quote'] Isn't that the whole point? Chris Matthews is a news commentator. Shouldn't we know who's he is interviewing? Is there no sense of accountability? No sense of honest reporting? I don't fault her for supporting her father. It's to be expected. But don't those watching who "they" are trying to influence deserve to know the whole truth? That's my only point. Fair and honest reporting of the news. I'm suprised that some find that too much to ask. A right to privacy is one thing, to step in front of a camera and a microphone and to speak you peace, sorry, but your right to privacy just went out the window. You want to stand in front of a camera and tell people how to vote, then those "people" deserve the right to know who you are. You want to be obscure. Fine. Avoid camera's and microphone's. It's easy. I've done it my whole life. You want to get questioned, then step right up to the first national news program that will put you face on millions of TV's. After that, don't whine about no privacy.

Since I was asked: Page 12 of the Obama or McCain thread. Immediately following that with no posts between them: Is there anymore questions about my timing? I'll tell you my motive without asking. This is a tournament site, this converstaion is going down a dark hole, and I don't want to continue to push the envelope. If you want the last word. You can have it as long as you don't ask me a question or mention my name. Peace. The last word is yours.

Victim? Victim? Victim? Still stuggling to make a point without resorting to negative characterzations huh? I understand. It's OK, if I had feelings they might have been hurt. Probably a good time to stop before this get's shut down by someone else. My will power for not responding to negative characterzations towards me on a personal level with some negative characterzations from me is fading fast. Peace towards you WarPig. God know's I don't agree with you on political or social issues, but I respect your right to feel the way you do.

heh... you ever notice I have to prove everything I say, but you say what you want and expect to be believed without question? so I only say to you what you have said to me on more than a few occassions. proof. proof of those poll numbers on CNN, MSNBC (hack news station it is), or FoxNews. each one of those has a website that mirrors the reporting that which is reported on the TV. if what you say is true it shouldn't be hard to find. I've already posted your quote of you dismissing deployed military and asking "how does that affect the American people" when I was discussing the Iraq SOFA. Don't get mad at me, you said it.

That's cool. My opinion is formed by my own experiences. Rewind to 1991, I deployed to Kuwait to liberate it. One of the last news reports I saw on TV before deploying was a young woman claiming to be a nurse in a Kuwaiti hospital telling the story of how babies were being taken out of incubators and placed on the floor to die by Iraqi soldiers. To say I was more than eager to get going was an understatement. The rest of the story, that WarPig is going to jump all over and ignore the larger point of what I have been posting all along, is that it's important that the U.S. has a credible and unbiased news system to inform the public. But that's OK, I lived it and others talk about it. The rest of the story is, it wasn't a nurse from Kuwait. It was the daughter of the Kuwait Ambassodor to the United States and wasn't in Kuwait at the time of or after the Iraqi invasion giving testimony before Congress. We (citizens and US military) were duped by our own government. My Commander in Chief at the time conspired to lie to me. I was furious. Before other's jump on being duped agian by the current George Bush, I knew that Saddam had WMD's and had used them on his own people and Iranian's, I saw the intel put forth and thought at the time Saddam still had WMD's, and re-enlisted to deploy again to Iraq. I believed Secretary of State Powell wouldn't lie for anyone to go to war, and believe that still today. Powell made the case. So on that point I am satisfied. It's all about personal experiences. I think the U.S. press should be unbiased, hard nosed, and seek the truth no matter what. But that's not what we have. Thank God for the internet or I would have to rely on Katie Couric, Charles Gibson, and Brian Williams for my news.

The blog site that was the source of the poll of the blog site you referred to: http://progressivealaska.blogspot.com/2008/09/saradise-lost-chapter-eighty-five-palin.html Bottom right hand of the page, the count is up to 96 anti-Palin blogs and 0 pro-Palin blogs. But I suppose you would call that "fair and balanced"? LMAO And just out of morbid curiousity. Since when exactly, WarPig, did you start caring about the U.S. Military. I brought them up in the other post, and you dismissed them asking what did that have to do with the rest of America. Was your response to my SOFA discussion about those currently and in the future deployed to Iraq. If you have never served in the military, I can understand you position on SOFA in forgiegn countries. What I can't understand is how you can care so passionately about one group of military members no not be concerned about active deployed military members.

A perfect example of "know your source". Chris Matthews, of MSNBC Hardball: http://www.mediabistro.com/fishbowlDC/television/chris_matthews_interviews_his_daughterwithout_disclosing_it_95951.asp Interviews his OWN DAUGHTER for a nationally televised program and doens't identify her. Fair and honest? You decide.

WarPig, I commented on poll sources you used in the presidential debate thread, you ain't going to like it.... . MyDD.com and Progressive Alaska (origin of poll you referenced) blog sites? OK, that's fine. I'll let everyone choose for themselves if those poll numbers mean anything. Rev, on Stevens I submit the following: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/29/stevens.trial/index.html WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Ted Stevens, the Alaska Republican on trial for corruption, asked that his case be dismissed because the prosecution sent a key witness home with information that was not disclosed to the defense. Judge Emmet Sullivan on Monday let loose a tirade at the prosecution, but suggested he still was not inclined to dismiss the case. "What gave you authority to tell him: 'You can leave?' Why wasn't I consulted about that?" the judge demanded. "We're very sorry about that," prosecutor Nicholas Marsh responded. But Sullivan was not finished. "Someone exercised authority, and then by the way, we're not going to tell the judge either. All the attorneys had a conversation Saturday, and no one thought to call the judge?" The witness in question is Rocky Williams, the foreman for the extensive renovations of Stevens' home at the heart of the case. Williams has now returned to Alaska without testifying for either side in the case. Williams' testimony could be critical to determining the value of the work on the house, and therefore whether Stevens could reasonably be thought to have paid market price. He remains under subpoena, and defense attorneys say they still intend to call him October 6. I read on the AP wire today that Williams testimony was expected to be benefical to Steven's defense, so the Prosecuter's tried to silence Williams by sending him away and hiding him from the defense. They got a word for that, it's call Prosecutial Misconduct. Now I am not defending Stevens. If he's guilty, put him in jail, no complaints from me. But I am defending Stevens' right to a fair trial, and also Palin's stance to assume Stevens is innocent until proven guilty. As American citizens, we all deserve no less.

Hmmmm.... rapid fire eh? LOL. OK, first, the drop in ratings. MyDD.com is a BLOG with hard left leanings. As a matter of fact, one of the former writers for the DailyKos is now writing for MyDD.com, his pen name is Alegre. For those who don't know, the DailyKos is extreme left leaning, the only people close to them is MoveOn.org, you know, the people that are so far left they attacked Clinton during the Democratic Primaries. Thus why Alegre left DailyKos and landed at MyDD.com which used a poll from another BLOG, the title of the blog? Progressive Alaska Spreading the word about the growing presence of progressive Alaskans and their powerful ideas on the web I was hoping to see a poll from a news organization. But WarPig is correct, on a Democratic and Progressive blog site's, Republican Governor Palin has dropped 14 points in approval. Everyone is free to give that data as much revelance as they see fit. I guess it could have been worse, it could have been a poll from Faux News.... :-X On the McCain video. So what's the problem? Just because some guy in an audiance say's it is so makes it so? Of course it doesn't. http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/does_mccain_have_a_perfect_voting_record.html He said that he had "a perfect voting record from organizations like the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion." But we called both of those groups, and they told us they don't even release congressional scorecards. In fact, the American Legion's constitution prohibits it. The veteran in this exchange was also wrong in saying McCain doesn't have a perfect voting record with the VFW (since such a record doesn't even exist). However, he is correct in that McCain doesn’t have a perfect score with DAV (Disabled American Veterans), a group of 1.3 million disabled veterans that supports more funding for veterans health care. McCain has a 20 percent record of voting the way DAV would like him to in 2006. The group is nonpartisan, but its 100 percent rankings disproportionately go to Democrats: 207 Democrats in Congress and only 13 Republicans received scores of 100 percent in 2006. Senators were evaluated on five votes for amendments that would have increased funding for veterans’ health care. We don't know to which of McCain's votes this veteran was referring. But we'll note that we recently criticized an AFL-CIO ad that said McCain voted against increasing health care benefits for veterans, when McCain actually voted against Democratic measures but for alternative measures to boost funding by smaller amounts. So without knowing which bills McCain didn't support that the DAV wanted him to, it could have been a terrible piece of legislation and needed to vote against. I was suprised by that fact, but I'm not afraid of the WHOLE truth. McCain is a fiscal conservative, and sometimes when it comes to spending money fiscal conservatives will say "no" on occassion, I don't have a problem with that. The DAV has lobbyists that lobby for them at Congress, I'm sure some of the things they lobby for are good things, but I doubt everything they lobby for is a good thing. I'd have to look at each one on it's own merits. I checked the DAV site, I couldn't find anything concerning McCain.

Proof. Is that too much to ask? Proof that what you are saying is accurate. Not a 527 ad, not a edited video, not something from a commentator like Olbermann, Matthews, Hannity, O'Rielly, Dobbs, Colmes. But a reputable news source that is accountable under libel laws to be truthful. Or an UNEDITED video. You show me sources from a reputable news source that show's John McCain voted against GI legislation for the last 6 years and I'll shut up on this subject forever. That's what you said was the truth, now please back it up. But I won't shut up, because it didn't happen. Just like, according to you, Governor Palin is despised in Alaska but still has a approval rating over 80%. Before I go, what about the $975 million in earmarks Obama has made happen? Am I spinning that? Maybe I should post something from a reputable news organization to back up my claim.... oh wait, I already did in another thread. But I'll do it again: http://answercenter.barackobama.com/cgi-bin/barackobama.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=172&p_created=1205426026&p_sid=TNlxoC-i&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MSwxJnBfcHJvZHM9JnBfY2F0cz From Barrack Obama's own campaign website no less. Now let's check John McCain's earmark requests: There's no link, nothing about earmarks McCain had make happen. wait.... that's because McCain doesn't ask for earmarks. McCain doesn't spend tax dollars like there is no tommorrow. That's what the other guy does.

Tell the whole truth please. The bill that McCain voted against was laden with pork and wasteful spending. It was a principled vote that is in line with his history of trying to cut wasteful spending. The VA bill in question was eventually passed without all the costly add on's. Us Veteran's know we have no better friend in the Congress than John McCain and no worse enemy than John Murtha. Unlike Obama's recored of $975 MILLION DOLLARS IN EARMARKS in less than 3 years as a Senator, inluding a $100 MIILLION DOLLAR EARMARK that when to the hospital OBAMA'S WIFE WORKS FOR. And after getting that earmark, Michelle Obama's pay increased by 150%.

So Stevens should be considered guilty before the investigation or trial are finished? Innocent until proven guilty no longer a right in America? You want Palin to convict Stevens in the court of public opinion? What happens if Stevens turns out to be innocent? House Representative Murtha convicted Marines of war crimes in the court of public opinion, so far all but one of those Marines have been exonerated and now Murtha as of two days ago is being sued in federal court for slander by one of those Marines. Not only is Palin correct to assume someone is innocent until proven guilty by a court of law, it's also a Constitutional right for all American citizens. The truth is, people have been fired, forced to resign, and some even put on trial and put in jail because of Governor Palin. Some of them were republicans. Barrack Obama knows people who are in jail too, they are campaign supporters and fundraisers for Obama. That's proven because Rezko's trial is over and he was convicted.

Speaking of the economy and the bailout Obama wants nothing to do with.... http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/business/general_business/support_for_bailout_plan_now_down_to_24 Just 24% of U.S. voters now favor the plan first proposed by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson a week ago and the subject of very public negotiations on Capitol Hill ever since, according to a Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey taken Friday night. Fifty percent (50%) oppose it, and 25% are undecided. Six–out-of-10 voters (60%) remain worried that the federal government will do too much to bailout the ailing financial markets. Only 28% think the government will not do enough. Fifty-one percent (51%) of investors oppose the plan, and 63% of them worry the government will do too much. Read the whole article. Make up your own mind.

You're kidding right? McCain is the leader of the Republican Party right now. Obama is the leader of the Demcoratic Party right now. And they should butt out at this time, a economic issue that will eventually effect all American's? I thought the economy was important.

Using law enforcement officials to curtail American citizens Freedom of Speech is "insignificant and diversionary"? OK, back to the economy. McCain is in Washington DC working on a solution, Obama is still out campaigning. Yep, let's allow people to make up their own minds.

IF a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his ass when he jumped. Kissenger said, at a high level, not the Pesidential level. Kissinger was talking MAYBE Secretary of State level. Kissinger has even said Obama "mis-stated" Kissinger's remarks. I'm not a politician, so to me it's still called lying. But check this out everyone, came out today. http://governor.mo.gov/ Gov. Blunt Statement on Obama Campaign’s Abusive Use of Missouri Law Enforcement JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics. “St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign. “What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment. “This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election. “Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts - not a free society.†This is straight out of the nazi and communist handbook for running a government. And that's a fair observation.
