  1. In Christianity, Easter marks the day that Jesus Christ was resurrected from the dead. So why then do so many equate the holiday with a giant rabbit that, somehow, lays multicolored eggs? What exactly is the origin of the Easter Bunny? Folks are clearly curious. Web searches on "easter bunny origin" and "who created the easter bunny" are both off the charts in preparation for Sunday's holiday. Fortunately, the Web has answers. The good folks at Mental Floss explain how an often tuxedo-clad rabbit became equated with the holiday. And, believe it not, it's not as random as you might think. Hundreds of years ago, "many pagan cultures held spring festivals." One festival was devoted to "Eostre, the goddess of dawn," and this Eostre was "linked to the hare and the egg, both symbols of fertility." Christian missionaries, in an attempt to convert the pagans, began to turn these festivals into Christian holidays by mixing the pagan traditions with their own. Two celebrations became one. Ask Yahoo! notes that "eggs have long been a symbol of rebirth and thus associated with spring celebrations." Back in the 600s, "Pope Gregory the Great forbade the eating of eggs during Lent (the 40 days preceding Easter), and this helped make eggs a special treat at Easter." The modern version of the Easter Bunny (cute and cuddly) was heavily influenced by German traditions dating back to the 1500s. According to Mental Floss, "The Germans converted the pagan rabbit image into Oschter Haws, a rabbit that was believed to lay a nest of colored eggs as gifts for good children." Eventually, chocolate became just as popular a gift as pastel-colored eggs. And, if you ask us, a lot tastier.
  2. Really? You never really liked SOCOM did you? Actually I do like socom, but.... I won't celebrate until I have it in hand... and played it.... an love it!! Socom is all I play.... I hate MW2, COD4, or any first person shooter. I haven't tried MAG yet so the verdict is still out on that. But since Confrontation is dead in the water and sinking slowly... XIL will make the transition over to the new socom when it releases!! I'm not going to build up hype when all we have are more promises pics and a trailer that doesnt' reveal much!!!
  3. Lets not celebrate... the games not out yet... It could be great... or it could shit!!! Don't get your expectations up too high!!!

  7. DUBLIN (Reuters) – Irish parents struggling to buy schoolbooks and uniforms in the face of a deep recession may now have to worry about sending their children to school with a toilet roll as well as a packed lunch. Pupils at a primary school in the southern county of Cork are being asked to bring their own toilet paper to school to help save money, one of the starkest examples yet of the death of Ireland's "Celtic Tiger" economy. "The letter was sent out just as a way of balancing books here in the school and not intended as a demand," said Catherine O'Neill, principal at St John's Girls National School. O'Neill said the request was made because of cuts to government grants for books and computers. She added that parents were responding well. "I've done a quick tour of the classrooms this morning and I'd say at least half the pupils have brought them (toilet rolls) in," she told national broadcaster RTE. "I have no doubt that there are an enormous number of schools out there that are doing the same thing."
  8. My heat was shut off so I had to stay home to keep my snake warm. My husband thinks it's funny to hide my car keys before he goes to work. I walked into a spider web on the way out the door and couldn't find the spider, so I had to go inside and shower again. I got locked in my trunk by my son. My left turn signal was out so I had to make all right turns to get to work. A gurney fell out of an ambulance and delayed traffic. I was attacked by a raccoon and had to stop by the hospital to make sure it wasn't rabid. I feel like I'm in everyone's way if I show up on time. My father didn't wake me up. A groundhog bit my bike tire and made it flat. My driveway washed away in the rain last night. I had to go to bingo.
  9. how do i get the beta code???

But now I feel like a fat kid that missed breakfast. Out of all the other tournaments I've been involved with.... This one has always held the highest ammount of respect from it's members to it's owners. Thank you tow and sniper for creating what I'm about to be a part...
