1. It's been a fun week; in case you missed it, we dropped by IGN's Podcast Beyond #200, where we shared the joy of UNCHARTED 3 multiplayer, and I extolled the virtues of Galaga Legions DX, which I've been enjoying since Tuesday. My lil brother is in town from the East Coast, so it's been fun catching up on Castle Crashers PSN, which I had never gotten the chance to really dive into. It's fun, and filled with potty humor. Perfection. What are you playing this weekend? Next up for PlayStation (and this Blog): We'll be heading out to Old World Europe at the end of the week for Gamescom. Expect a full slate of updates once the show kicks off. The PS.Blog weekly reading list (Week of August 1, 2011)

Free Sub-Zero Skins Ice-Sliding To Mortal Kombat Next Week - Siliconera

Quick Look: No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise - Giant Bomb

Nathan Drake is the Penguin... wait, what? - Destructoid
More...
 2. It's been a fairly quiet week, all things considered, despite the rush of EVO 2011 coverage, a lucrative new PSN PLAY annual promotion, and word that Sucker Punch Productions is officially joining the SCE World Wide Studios family. I've also been hearing considerable interest in PlayStation Home's new Dead Island zombie survival quiz. Have you tried it? Eagle-eyed readers may have also spotted the news that Resistance 3 has gone gold. To whet your appetite, be sure to watch Rey's new Resistance 3 dev diary that details passive and active abilities for multiplayer. 3. Hey all! David Jaffe here with some good news and bad news on behalf of myself, my Eat Sleep Play partner and Twisted Metal co-director Scott Campbell, the entire Eat Sleep Play team, and Sony Santa Monica. First the good news: Eat Sleep Play and Sony Santa Monica are cranking like mad to get a fantastic Twisted Metal build ready for both Gamescom and PAX Prime! For those not in the know: Gamescom is August 17th-21st in Cologne, Germany and PAX Prime will take place here in America August 26th-28th in Seattle, Washington. Both shows are open to the public but PAX - I believe- is already sold out. If you've got PAX Prime tickets, I can't wait to see you there! I hope you'll swing by the Twisted Metal booth and give our game a try! More...

 5. Story by Luke Plunkett @ Kotaku.com. The upcoming Modern Warfare 3 is being developed by Infinity Ward. Or, at least, what’s left of it. The Wii version, however, is being developed by somebody else, somebody just as familiar with the series, if not quite as popular with its fans. That developer is Treyarch, the team behind Call of Duty 3, World at War and Black Ops. If you’re wondering why some of their team is “stuck” on the Wii port, well, they’ve got a ton of experience on the platform, having handled the Nintendo home console versions of World at War, Modern Warfare and Black Ops, as well as having turned out 2008′s Spider-Man: Web of Shadows on the Wii. Modern Warfare 3 is due not only on Wii but PS3, 360, PC, 3DS and Vita. Most of those versions, Vita excepted, should be out in November. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) More...
 6. In anticipation of the upcoming Dead Island TGI (total game integration), pop into PlayStation Home this Thursday, August 4th to check out the Zombie Survivor Quiz to determine your level of cunning against the hordes, and you’ll be rewarded for it. Be sure to check out the Dead Island swag too, including some horror-inspired blood splatter wall art for your personal spaces and some rudimentary weaponry so you will be best prepared for the undead invasion coming very soon. Lockwood Publishing is releasing a new collection of very trendy hairstyles for both women and men. Whether you’re a Sweet Lolita relaxing in the park or a foxy punk ready for the ultimate festival, the Medusa collection will offer something for everyone. More...
 7. I spent the weekend at the EVO Championship Series, a mecca for fighting-game competitors and home to the biggest Street Fighter IV, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Tekken 6, Mortal Kombat tournaments in the world . This year, I’m told, EVO attendance spiked sharply to nearly 8,000 attendees -- enough to strain the confines of the biggest ballroom in one of Las Vegas’s larger resort hotels. With EVO’s popularity soaring in recent years, it’s become common to see legendary figures in fighting game design prowling the demo stations, studying player reactions and answering questions. At EVO I caught up with Katsuhiro Harada, the outgoing game director for Tekken since its inception on the PSone. I particularly wanted to discuss this November’s PS3-exclusive Tekken Hybrid, the upcoming Blu-ray compilation that will include CG film Tekken: Blood Vengeance 3D, an enhanced version of the seminal PS2 fighter Tekken Tag Tournament, and an appetizer in the form of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Prologue. 8. Have you been keeping up with the EVO World Finals this weekend? Our Sid Shuman is in attendance, where last night the talk of the town was an 8-year old Marvel vs Capcom 3 prodigy who blazed his way through to the quarterfinals. The most exciting matches will happen today, and you can stream it live in PlayStation Home. The PS.Blog weekly reading list (Week of July 25th, 2011)

Disgaea 4 Has More Voice Acting In North America - Siliconera

Metal Gear Solid HD collection will run at 60FPS - Joystiq

Section 8: Prejudice PS3 Review - GameSpot.com

All Zombies Must Die! 9. This weekend, I'm on site at the "World Series of Fighting Games," the EVO Championship Series, located in fabulous (chaotic, disorienting) Las Vegas! Top fighting game champions from around the world have gathered to duke it out in Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition, Tekken 6, Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat, plus a host of other niche fighting games, culminating in a nail-biting series of finals Sunday night. Luckily, PlayStation Home users can watch the battles live for free. Not a bad way to spend the weekend! In addition to the competition, Capcom and Namco Bandai are showing off upcoming fighters such as Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Street Fighter X Tekken, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 to the throngs of hungry fighting-game fans. I'm hoping to score some interviews with Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono and Tekken creator Katsuhiro Harada, among others. Keep your eyes peeled for the results this week on the PlayStation.Blog! More...
 10. All week long, I've had this strange tension in my shoulders. I was hunched up, and was even having trouble sleeping. As Comic-Con came to a close, I couldn't figured out the source of my weird aches, until I finally realized: it's EVO time. EVO is the World Series of Fighting Games, and it's this weekend, July 29th through the 31st, in Las Vegas. EVO has been running for over a decade, and has grown from a small gathering of friends into the biggest fighting-game event on the planet, with thousands of competitors and fans attending from dozens of countries (46 countries are represented this year!). The best of the best come not only to win prizes, but to claim a place in fighting game history, to earn a name, and to test themselves at the highest levels. More...

 13. Story by Devils Own @ GamersMint.com. Despite the game’s lackluster reception, Gearbox Software has decided to continue supporting Duke Nukem Forever and has drawn the curtains on the first piece of DLC. The Hail to the Icons Parody Pack brings to the table, four new multiplayer maps and a trio of interesting takes on some of the popular modes of today’s shooters. More details on the maps were detailed on the game’s official forum: Call of Duke – Duke engages in modern combat in a war-torn city. Foes don’t stand a chance against the Duke when he spams the map with the N00b T00b. Sandpit – Players take the role of mini-Duke in a giant sandbox with two bases at either end made out of children’s toys. This map features Sticky Bombs. Inferno – Time machine engage! Duke does combat in a hellish landscape of lava and teleporters. Who turned on the 16-bit graphics, and more importantly, where did this DFG come from? 2Forts1Bridge – Hats? Duke doesn’t need no stinking hats. Give him a minigun and he’ll beat off all comers. And about the new game modes: As the title suggest, players will find themselves joining hands to freeze and shatter their opponents for point streaks and combos in Freeze Tag. The one who holds on the girl for the longest time in Hot Potato takes home the prize. And finally, Hail to the King is your typical free-for-all. The DLC pack is scheduled to arrive sometime in Autumn. Pricing has yet to be announced. However, first access club members will receive the DLC for absolutely free. Score: 0 (0 votes cast) More...

 22. Hey People! We've Missed you all! I've been busy tryin to get everything back to where it was prior to our House Fire. Almost there! I like the new changes to this site, it's cool. Well, I'll be checkin the posts here, so I hope to hear from most of ya. Let me know how you've been and If you'd like a scrim or two with WOLF. I've almost got my roster filled (again) to compete. See ya soon! P.S. If there's any clanless members at this site, and you're looking for a home, try us out.
 23. It is missing some of the better sluggers of this year for various reasons (mostly injuries). I would have liked to see Vlad, Hamilton, Bautista/Konerko, Votto, and Pujols be in there opposed to some of the selections. Looking at this class, it looks clear that Miggy Cabrera is the favorite and that's who I am picking. I think it will be he and Holliday in the final.
