Zombie Ants

I saw this last night and it's the freakiest thing I think I have ever seen. I thought being a fish was bad. But being an Ant can be bad too.

 

What happens is a certain type of Fungus can attach itself to the Ants. And when infected enough the fungus takes over the ant. His brain everything. It will make the ant climb up into the trees and attack itself to a branch and wait for the fungus to grow through the Ants body. It even makes the ant get into the right position for the Sun.

I saw this on LIFE the series on Discovery. It's pretty cool....the fungus even gets the ant to infect other ants in it's colony....pretty righteous if you ask me.

Interesting how other ants will carry off the infected ones far, far away so they don't kill their colonies. Interesting stuff!

i alreadu saw it too.. but it was cool to see it again..

 

man you have to be amazed not only at WTF happens out there( the fungus was badass) but to the camera and how the videos is taken... and even the damn freakish music! awesome.. makes everything way more enjoyable!

Imagine if this could be replicated in humans. Scary thought that all the zombie movies and theatrics could be possible after-all.
