GeneralWar Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 Sony's policy of providing free network services for PlayStation 3 owners looks to have a bright future, with Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yohida confirming the company is looking to bring further diversified functionality to the console. "We're more open about approaching and bringing services in to PS3 and PSP," he stated. "We can't support all the needs of the consumer and there are great companies providing services on the PC already- so we're very open to provide the opportunity to those companies to reach our user base as well." No mention of any specific examples was stated, but with free Internet play and music video streaming in place it seems Sony will be looking to branch out to more outlandish content. "There are things we're looking at, and learning how we can provide a service without people having to pay," he continued. "But we still get our operation running with funding from somewhere so that we can maintain the level of quality we want." Advertising looks set to play a big part here Quote
GOAT Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 "Advertising looks set to play a big part here" = "We plan on spamming you to no end" Quote
RNG187 Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 did it specify where they'll be advertising? like, on the store, through emails, etc. Quote
SHANE23 Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 Well for those that chose to download Qore not only have to pay BUT have to deal with ads. I chose not to but could deal with ads on the store or something, as long as it doesn't take longer to login, interfere with gaming or scroll across my screen while online or something of that nature. Paying is so worth it. lol Honestly this is the way they break it to you slowly that "they just cant provide this service for free".. You'll see, the online service will either turn to shit, or they will start MAD pain in the ass advertising, or just start charging you. Quote
