I also know a dude that got an entire door... and installed for a little over 400 on a new Cavalier.

 

1800 dollars sounds like he is going to the most expensive places he can find.

Alot of it depends on the dent Dave. I've done some body work, and have a friend that has a nice shop. Front 1/4 panels and such are easy and cheap. If it's by the gas tank on a uni-body, it could be crazy expensive. Doesn't matter how big the dent is, just where it's at and the angle. 1800 bucks he probably has to pull it as best as possible, then fill and repaint.

 

Working on cars is expensive and takes alot of time. If it were my car I'd be pissed at first. If the culprit offered to help with it, I'd be cool about it. I got some free yard work from a kid about 12 for breaking a tail light being a jackass. To me it means more that you come to me and own up to it respectfully than actually paying for the damage. Accidents happen.

 

As far as making her insurance pay for that. That is bs. You have to pay higher premiums because someone ELSE damaged your car? That is why we pay so much for insurance now. Too many clowns damaging something and running off.

alaright mets, my advice is simple. you need to find the body shop she is taking it too, and give the guy a call. i will tell you from experience that body shops have two prices. one price is for insurance companies, because adjusters never wanna play a full estimate, so the body guys gotta have some room to come down. the other price is a cash price, and they are a little more forgiving to the public. you really need to make that call.

Don’t do a day am thing.. don’t give anyone a dime. If a Judge orders you in court to submit restitution than you do so. Without that than screw her. Most states have no fault insurance.. which means..â€it doesn’t matter how or who dented the car†her insurance pays.. the most you are libel for is her deductible. And that’s only if she sue’s you to get it. The police have nothing to say about it.. only a judge can order restitution not the police dept.

 

Hell, why are you even sweating this shit.. if I was you I’d be suing her for the head injury.. Hell she might get her 500 deductible out of you for the auto body repair but you stand to rake in millions from the injury. Don’t you have a head ache.. Sure you do.. it hurts every time you smile right? That’s the ticket!!
