BigMoneyNacku Posted May 22, 2009 Report Staff Posted May 22, 2009 Chili-Palmer ]Define "built around respawn"...? Thats like saying Socom is built around patches..!? You cant say you hate it because you hate respawn.. you just cant, that is asinine, & i know YOU are smarter than that. BOTH games have respawn modes, & Both games have non respawn modes. It is up to YOU to choose which one you want to play. (we have played in full leagues/tourney's of HC S&D, no tubes, no glitching, nothing but pure Adrenalin filled, strategic gaming.!!) Tell me if when you are home on a sick day you can log into Socom, go into a pubby respawn room & absolutely love it...? (if you say you love it, you are lying. lol) It's the same on CoD.. especially WaW for the slower pace. If you log onto WaW on a sick day & jump into a HC S&D room, you will find the same things you find in Socom... except it will be a more realistic view. lol And my whole point of my og post was to point out what has changed about Socom, not to bash it, or to praise CoD. ;D I'm saying that I can't just jump into a ranked game without playing respawn. Yeah I know I can play S&D, but that gets old. I don't even like the demo only rooms in Socom. Playing the same people all the time in private rooms gets old too. I love the guys in my clan and most of the guys in UF, but it still gets stale after awhile. Maybe if COD had a briefing room set-up like Socom, it would help. Believe me respawn isn't my only reason for dis-liking COD. I played the game for months because my clan was. I gave it a chance, and towards the end I couldn't stand it. If I have to make compromises to play a game, why not play the one I like more and am comfortable with? Like NEO said, I've been making compromises since Socom 1, so I'm cool with that. I don't want to jump ship to a game that also requires me to make compromises. Quote
DK_MaluNYMets Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 Honestly I really don't think the past socoms were that bad. Maybe had a couple of issues here and there but it still held strong with over a 100,000 a night and the game was playable. Confrontation come on is very different, It took a couple of patches just to get it playable but still you can't kill a guy with a bad connection lol. Quote
BigMoneyNacku Posted May 22, 2009 Report Staff Posted May 22, 2009 MaluNYMets ]but still you can't kill a guy with a bad connection lol. I've never had that problem. And I regularly play with 3 guys from PR and all of them have shit connections. Quote

When was this..?I've NEVER seen over 40k on Socom EVER.! (honestly high 30's was the most i can ever really remember) More poeple playing doesn't make it a better game.. i LOVED Socom and its peak was in the 30k range. Quote

Just out of curiosity, anyone know the numbers out there as to what the online traffic is for the games we play? Quote
Chili327 Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 Im not sure where to find that out, but i think its safe to say they are ALL playing World of Warcraft. lol http://www.mmogchart.com/Chart8.html In CoD, i see upper 100k always & sometimes 200+ (Xbox 360) I know Halo 3 still gets into the 300k sometimes. But i dont know of a place to check on any/all games. Quote
DK_MaluNYMets Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 When Socom 3 was out and Combined Assault at times had a 100... Quote
BigMoneyNacku Posted May 23, 2009 Report Staff Posted May 23, 2009 Yeah, I saw Socom hitting 100,000 a few times. The most I've ever seen was Halo right after 2 and 3 came out. I think they hit the million mark a time or two. Chili you can't count COD on the Box. Way more box owners than ps3, of course there will be better numbers. Well and the better online functionality. Chili327 Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 Yea i was just giving the numbers ive seen, since i couldn't find any facts online. Seriously 100k on Socom..!? This based on numbers that you saw with your own eyes right, not heresay.? I dont want to call anyone a liar, but if i had to bet money on that i certainly would bet against it. ;D I personally NEVER saw more than 40k. (but i guess maybe i wasn't paying attention) Quote

Johnson30 Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 I think it is still SOCOM. It still makes you lose sight of what's important in life, then you actually lose what is important to you.... :-\ Quote
CDBS14 Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 Sometimes i wonder which studios could potentially attempt to revive the SOCOM franchise after this? i mean SOCOM is like that illegitimate son SONY had and threw it to the basement. I mean ZIPPER is definetely not going back, /6 they must be out of their freaking minds. There are only a few developers that have experience with TPS (naughty dog being one of them). The only way SOCOM will be SOCOM again is to get a dedicated team of developers that know what they are doing and use SOCOM2 as a template, not copying it but taking it and remastering it, adding more levels, better mechanics such as hit detection, running, and weapons. Graphical improvements, it has to be at least up to par with current shooters. Full clan and party support; and most importantly the game has to work, you cant have patch after patch, thats just unacceptable, whatever the game is. Patches are meant to be minimal fixes such as a glitch, a gun exploit or other small issues; you should not be seeing patches the size of a small downloadable content/game for just attempting to make the game playable. there my rant is over. i just had to say something. UNCLE-SID25 Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 lol there WILL be a game like this some day... It most likely will not be socom though. Quote
DK_MaluNYMets Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 The only way socom can be the game we love again is if Zipper makes it. THeir the first ones to make it and they know every little thing to know about it or you will get this new patch with someone else that wasn't a problem becoming one. Quote
IRISH BULL Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 I don't know who said it, but the real litmus test will be at the end of the year. Starting around September. Right now, I don't think there is a shooter out there to take Socrack heads away from SOCOM. I play because that is what my CLAN plays, and to me that aspect is more important. This is my feeling about SOCOM now also. I probably wouldn't touch it if it wasn't for that alone. Quote
