Nemesis Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 According to an Activision survey, a paid Call of Duty service would "enhance the multiplayer experience and provide exclusive access to a group of gameplay enhancements". Those enhancements include things like early access to betas and expansions, exclusive character skins, exclusive game modes, better stat tracking as well as competitive play support. Does that mean we'll have to pay a fee for Modern Warefare 2? The game's developer, Infinity Ward, states, "This rumor has absolutely nothing to do with Infinity Ward or our games, including Modern Warfare 2. We would never introduce such a system for Modern Warfare 2 so don't worry." Phew. Okay then, we'll just worry about the other CoD developer, Treyarch, putting a paid service in its next Call of Duty. Quote
Chili327 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 Thats just crazy talk.. lol It'll never happen. Quote
Outlaw__Rebel Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 It never happened because Socom was a flop and made people mad and that made MAG not do the charging thing. It affected them all. We probably should be thanking Slant 6. Quote
Chili327 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 Why/How..? Did you pay a fee for Socom.?? lmao Quote
Outlaw__Rebel Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 They soared everyone... Would you pay after playing Socom? I don't think so... I'd go play Overlord... Oh yeah I do... Quote
Chili327 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 Hell i wouldn't even play Socom after playing Socom. lol Quote

willywonka159 Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 i would pay for socom to be fixed:) lol No way, I paid 60 bucks so it could work in the first place. Quote
WARPIG Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 True. The initial $60 investment should be enough... but I've posted this many times and still feel it's the truth. Until we are willing to pay a "nominal" monthly fee, we will have to deal with the crap we deal with on a daily basis with online games... for the most part. I posted this like in the Socom II days in the PS underground boards. If Zipper would adopt a monthly fee of like say, $6 to $10... that would go to updates, patches, maintenance of servers, monthly maps dwls along with dwl content in general and a complete yearly dwl of new content. Now I know everyone is like HELL NO! No way!!! But hear me out. You pay $60 everytime a new Madden or other game comes out yearly, right? So if you divide it up to monthly and take the higher number of $10 a month... that's $120 a year. So lets take $60 out for the yearly dwl content of basically a new game... that leaves $60 for the rest. Is that worth it? I say HELL YEAH! Now this is only and I mean ONLY if the afore mentioned is done consistently and properly. I mean, can you imagine a lag free, glitch free constant updated Socom!?? It would be awesome and worth every penny! I think gaming companies need to adopt this model IMO. It works for them as they get a stream of income and hence TIME to work on it... and it works for us as we would FINALY get the game we all want. Just my opinion. Quote

Chili327 Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 I guess that has always been the debate.. in which category defines the superiority. lol LOL... well aside from that. I think this is what gaming companies need to do. You said gaming companies need to charge.. im just saying they dont, do you really want to pay $5 per month for EACH game..!? PS. And my system has always worked just fine.! Quote
IRISH BULL Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 I think both systems are great, let me start with that. But, does paying a fee actually make games run better? Or does that lie solely on the Dev's? I mean, in reference to SOCOM, I don't think it has anything to do with a lack of a subscription fee. This game was released without being completed. That and they are more focused on the PSP game than the PS3 version. I honestly think they have thrown in the towel. At least after 1.50 is released. But, I will give you that a monthly subscription fee does get better exclusivity. Modern Warfare is proof of that. But paying a fee game by game, would be bullshit. Thank God all of these rumors are just that, rumors. Quote
CDBS14 Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 it would be cool if we could play for private ranked servers. Quote

But definitely a huge priority over the other systems. I'm just sayin'...money talks, and PS3 bullshit walks. Believe me, I'd drop $50 a year for equal treatment on big cross platform games. Modern Warfare 2 map packs hitting Xbox Live first Modern Warfare 2 has officially joined the somewhat exclusive Microsoft DLC club. Infinity Ward's relentless first-person shooter will offer downloadable map packs (duh!), the first two of which will launch first on Xbox Live. The news came via Microsoft's E3 press, where Microsoft's John Schappert was keen to emphasize that the Xbox 360 version would lead the way in Modern Warfare 2's online component. Which, with any luck, will be heavy on the snowmobile combat. Snowmobile combat! Quote
WARPIG Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 Love you Chilli. LOL Look, I'm only talking about an all ONLINE game like Socom. Not Brabie's dreamhouse, which Chilli is very fimilar with or titles which there is no real online type play. There's a big difference there. And I stand by my opinion. Until we are willing to do that, we will continue to get crap online. WE have to pay these companies for their work. That's my only point... or opinion as it is. ;D Quote
WARPIG Posted June 20, 2009 Report Posted June 20, 2009 And Irish, you're saying it's BS to do that... but did you see the price structure I was talking about? It would be very little more then you pay now. To buy a game and think you just pay a one-time fee and that we should have everything else just handed to us, is not really fair to the Devs IMO. I'm talking about moving away from the whole bus model they are using now. It's outdated IMO. What I laid out for a mere $120 a year I think just about every Socom player would pay in a heart beat! A constant clean server with no glitchers on it? Constant updates and dwls of new maps and equipment? What is that worth to you? Are you saying that it's not worth $120 a year? How can you expect to pay a one-time fee of $60 and be good for life? LOL C;mon. Quote
