While Battlefield: Bad Company 2 soldiers wait for VIP Map Pack 7 and — more importantly — a Vietnam release date, it appears that a much-welcomed update to the game’s multiplayer is coming to consoles. Fixed a bug with the SVU that gave it better close range damage than other semi auto weapons. Reduced all weapon damage to the MCOM by 50%. Fixed a C4 vs MCOM exploit on Atacama Desert. Fixed a bug with FOV when aiming the M1911. Lowered the close range damage of the AN94 to highlight its long range role. Surprise. Kotaku is reporting that Uncharted 3 will finally get its much-antcipated debut at the Spike*Video Game Awards on December 11. This may add more wood to the fire we’re going to see a full blow-out of the game at an event from Sony the day after the VGAs on December 12. Today Activision released the Black Ops patch 1.03 for the PS3 to counter all the problems associated with Call of Duty: Black Ops. Unfortunately the PS3 version of Black Ops is very substandard in comparison to that running on an Xbox 360. There have been numerous lag problems, disconnects, transmission errors, matchmaking issues, party problems and other things that the Black Ops patch 1.03 intended to fix. However for most PS3 gamers there are serious problems with the latest build released in Black Ops patch 1.03. Gamers are reporting that whilst the game ran reasonably pre-patch the new build has all but ruined their gaming experience. On forums many are complaining that the situation is worse than before with many unable to find a game to compete in, and when they do the latency or lag is always set to 1 red dot. Hopefully there will be a new patch to replace this Black Ops patch 1.03 for the PS3 as this current iteration has failed to aid any PS3 gamer from enjoying the game at all. Even if the PS3 version suffers from a mediocre framerate in comparison to the Xbox gamers used to be able to play online without too many problems. Sony’s got something big to announce on December 12, so big, in fact, that it’s going to get its own event. Codemasters has just released the first trailer of Opertation Flashpoint: Red River. The trailer is a live-action affair set to the tune of Johnny Cash’s The Man Comes Around. Set in Tajikistan in 2013, Red River will see the Chinese PLA remain as big a threat as previously, as players take on the role of a Marine Corp infantryman in the country along the Vakhsh River over “three distinct acts”.
