Hi, I’m Gary Napper, Game Director at Great Ape Games. It’s great to finally be talking about The Lost Wild, a game where you don’t fight dinosaurs. You survive around them. The Lost Wild is survival horror built on three things: observation, instinct, and restraint. Watching where a dinosaur looks before you move. Holding still when something taller than the building you’re hiding behind walks past. Knowing when not to run. In this post, I want to talk about the design philosophy behind it. Play Video From the outset, our goal has been to create a world where dinosaurs are not framed as monsters, but as believable animals. They exist within the world with their own instincts, behaviors, and drives. This shift in perspective fundamentally changes the player’s role. You are not the dominant force, the hero or the conqueror, you are the outsider, vulnerable and exposed, trying to navigate a food chain where you no longer sit at the top. This philosophy shaped every major design decision, influencing not only how the dinosaurs behave, but how it feels to survive alongside them. We emphasize tension through vulnerability. The player is not equipped to kill these creatures, although they can find tools to defend themselves. The experience avoids gamified or arcade-like systems that would undermine that tone. There are no exaggerated weak points or predictable attack patterns designed for exploitation. Instead, survival depends on observation, learning, and reaction. When encounters happen, players evade, hide, create distractions, and use the environment to escape. Players are encouraged to study the behavior of how a dinosaur moves, how it reacts to sound, how it occupies space. Watching to see if an Allosaur is going to detect you, or lose interest if you stay still enough. Fear doesn’t come purely from threat, but from uncertainty, as each emergent encounter leads to a tense cat-and-mouse fight for your life. At the same time, we want to evoke a sense of awe and respect. These are not villains; they are animals behaving exactly as they should. That creates a more complex emotional response and one that blends fear with fascination. The environments in The Lost Wild are dense, claustrophobic, and unforgiving, with abandoned buildings embedded within an overgrown wilderness. This is not a wide-open safari, it’s a place where visibility is limited, paths are unclear, and the landscape itself can disorient you. Through this, we create the feeling of being lost, both physically and psychologically. Storytelling in The Lost Wild is designed to be discovered rather than force-fed. We aim for a cinematic level of immersion, but without pulling the player out of the experience through heavy-handed exposition or intrusive UI elements. The narrative is grounded and personal, unfolding through exploration, interaction, and observation. As Saskia explores, she begins to uncover traces of what happened on the island—and why it was abandoned. She discovers abandoned spaces, subtle environmental details, and sees traces of fragmented human presence. Notebooks. Hastily left meals. Discarded ID passes. Not everything is explained outright. We believe there is power in leaving gaps, in allowing players to interpret and question what they find. This approach creates a deeper, more lasting engagement with the story. My experience working on Alien: Isolation has inevitably shaped how I approach horror design and is definitely a lens I view this game’s design through. One of the key lessons from that project was the importance of restraint of when to show creatures, allowing space for the player’s imagination to do the work and to let the world and systems breathe. In Alien: Isolation, the creature was terrifying not just because of what it could do, but because of what players imagined it was going to do. The sense of anticipation and fear built in the unknown. That same principle applies here in a lot of ways. By treating dinosaurs as systemic, unpredictable entities rather than scripted events, we create a more dynamic and personal form of horror. The difference here is not just that you can’t fight back, it’s that you feel like you shouldn’t. Maintaining a respect for the dinosaurs as living creatures, while trying to survive in a world with them. More broadly, I think there’s a growing appetite for experiences that move away from the power fantasy. Horror becomes far more effective when the player feels exposed, when control is limited, and when success is uncertain. The Lost Wild leans into that approach offering an experience where survival is never guaranteed and dominance is never assumed. Ultimately, The Lost Wild is about placing players into a world that feels grounded, real, indifferent, and alive, and then asking them to navigate it not as a hero, but as something far more fragile but relatable. “If I were there, what would I do?” In doing so, we hope to create a kind of fear that feels different. Not just the fear of being chased or attacked, but the deeper unease of realising you are no longer in control. You are being watched, tracked, and understood by something that doesn’t hate you… but doesn’t need to. We believe that in the space between fear and understanding, something truly memorable can emerge. The Lost Wild releases on PS5 in 2027 and is available to wishlist today. View the full article

Konnichiwa PlayStation Blog readers! We’re Unseen. Creators from around the world have come together in Tokyo, bringing their own cultures and sensibilities to create Kemuri. Kemuri is a yokai-possession action game set in the chaotic world of Kemuri City, where life and death coexist. Players will confront the paranormal as they explore a sprawling vertical city, traversing rooftops, back alleys, and hidden ruins alone or in online co-op with up to two other players First, please take a look at the gameplay trailer for Kemuri, revealed today during State of Play. Play Video Welcome to Kemuri City — the City Closest to the Afterlife Kemuri City is a place said to be “where you may encounter something you once lost again.” It exists on the boundary between life and death. Dangerous, yet strangely alluring, the city has become an unusual tourist destination visited by people from around the world. Across its layered rooftops, alleyways, and underground ruins, the line between reality and the afterlife constantly shifts and trembles. In this city, paranormal phenomena are simply part of everyday life. There’s even a saying: “Where there is Kemuri, there are yokai.” The yokai of Kemuri range from traditional folklore creatures to modern original yokai unique to this world. Born from “Kemuri” — the lingering emotions and thoughts of humanity — these beings are not only created by people, but by the city itself. You are a Yokai Hunter Yokai hunters from across the globe gather in this city. Each carrying their own culture, past, and personal loss, they arrive in Kemuri City for their own reasons. Perhaps… just like you, standing on the edge of this world now. As a yokai hunter, players search for yokai, form contracts with them, and grow stronger by wielding their powers. There is no single way to fight. Some hunters charge into close combat, others strike from a distance, while some wield supernatural powers through prayers and talismans. Each hunter steps into the city’s paranormal anomalies in their own way. Seeing the unseen through the “Foxwindow” At the core of Kemuri’s gameplay is the “Foxwindow.” By forming a hand gesture and peering through the gap between your fingers, hidden fractures between worlds begin to emerge. Before you realize it, you may already be standing inside a yokai realm. These spaces are not only frightening — they can also feel strangely nostalgic, mysterious, and beautiful. And within these emotional realms, you will confront the paranormal as a yokai hunter. Wear the paranormal — Possession Apparel Defeating yokai is not the end. By forming contracts with yokai, their powers manifest as “Possession Apparel.” Fighting alongside them and wearing their existence changes not only your appearance, but the very way you fight. Before long, those powers may no longer feel like something merely borrowed. Single-player and multiplayer experiences Even in single-player, you are never truly alone in this city. Distinctive hunters and contracted yokai are always by your side. Before you realize it, you may find yourself stepping deeper into the city’s paranormal anomalies while sensing someone else’s presence nearby. Kemuri also supports online co-op for up to three players. Together, players dive into the city as one discovers, one guides, and one strikes the final blow. And somewhere within that cooperation, you may begin to notice something strange: Even when looking at the same world, each player may see it just a little differently. “Welcome to Kemuri City.” And now… perhaps you’ve become one of the people who has seen too much. A creative collective from around the world — Unseen Unseen is a Tokyo-based game studio led by Ikumi Nakamura. Creators from different cultures and backgrounds come together in Tokyo, bringing their own perspectives and sensibilities into the chaotic world of Kemuri. Kemuri is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5. View the full article

Hi everyone, I’m Jaeho Hwang, the director and game designer behind Dave the Diver. While our studio is getting ready for the upcoming release of Dave the Diver’s next big DLC expansion, In the Jungle, we’ve also been cooking up another unique project that we wanted to share with everyone on PlayStation. It’s not DLC, but an entirely new game, starring the best chef you’ve met at the Blue Hole… Bancho. And at today’s show, we debuted the first trailer. Check it out below. Play Video There are so many Dave the Diver characters that resonate with fans, but the love for Bancho always stood out to us as next level. Bancho has been ranked 1st place in a massive fan vote and is one of the most-cosplayed characters we see whenever we go to gaming events. Bancho The Chef is Mintrocket’s new game for PlayStation 5, which tells the story of Bancho’s growth as he travels across Japan, Korea, China, and other Asian regions, learning cuisine from master chefs in each locale. A mix of cooking sim, RPG, and adventure, this all-new standalone prequel is set in 2004, 19 years before the events of Dave the Diver. Back when Bancho still had his hair and was yet to walk the path of a sushi master, and you’ll be with him on every part of his journey. Unlike Dave the Diver, where the player only served dishes in the sushi bar, the core gameplay loop this time has you cook meals and serve them to customers directly within a time limit. This would mean growing as a chef, raising each restaurant’s reputation in each region, and learning techniques from each locale’s culinary master. Bancho the Chef isn’t just about cooking. Just like its predecessor Dave the Diver, the game packs in a rich variety of gameplay that refuses to stay confined to a single genre, including mini-games like fishing and petting cats. Beyond the simple cook&serve routine, Bancho takes on cooking requests from the unique locals of each region, gaining experience and gradually evolving into a true master chef. What we poured the most effort into for this title is, without a doubt, the act of “cooking” itself. You’ll already see from the trailer just how much attention we’ve paid to each dish and its construction. This time, we moved from pixel art to 3D in order to express the textures and fine details of cooking that pixels alone couldn’t quite capture. We invested countless hours into the smallest culinary details, like the glistening sheen on a fillet of fish, the splatter of oil during frying, the rising smoke from the grill, and so much more. Beyond visual delight, our vision for this game is to let players physically feel the joy of cooking with their own hands. In this regard, the DualSense controller is the ideal partner for Bancho the Chef. We’re fully leveraging DualSense wireless controller’s features, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and even the gyro sensor, to recreate the textures and sensations of cooking. For instance, when slicing fish, you can feel the contact between knife and cutting board through haptic feedback. When cracking an egg, the adaptive triggers and the controller’s built-in speaker work together to make it feel as if you’re handling the ingredient yourself. And when washing dishes, we’ve used DualSense wireless controller’s touchpad to recreate the tactile sense of scrubbing a plate by hand. There are plenty of other elements Dave the Diver fans will love, but we hope you’ll enjoy what we’ve revealed today. We’ll have more to announce later this year, so please stay tuned. In the meantime, be sure to add Bancho the Chef on your wishlist. We’ll be by to take your order soon! View the full article

When the original PlayStation first launched over 30 years ago, gaming was mostly about you sitting in front of an old-school CRT television, controller in hand. Audio cues from spawning enemies thanks to the Tempest 3D AudioTech immersed me in Arjun’s world, allowing me to weave through combat with lethal precision. The range of tones makes it easy to sink into the soundtrack’s thrumming bassline while still staying alert to incoming threats, and the ultra-low latency via PlayStation Link delivered sounds as they happened. Tailored soundspace Beyond the robust tech inside, the look and feel of the speakers were right at home both beside a monitor while playing on PS5 and and stationed off their dock around the room. The built-in rechargeable battery allows for 12 hours of play, and each speaker can be tilted to your preferred angle. As someone who often works from home, I imagined all the ways I could move them across my apartment throughout the day: taking a call or listening to music while working on my laptop, then seamlessly switching to playing on PS5 after work. But they also have a headphone-style noise-filtering feature that blew me away. In a demonstration on a laptop, we made a call speaking at a normal volume while music loudly flowed through the Pulse Elevate speakers. When a recording of the call played back, all we heard was the clear speaking voice. The built-in mic had cut through the noise without having to pause music or change the volume at all. A seamless experience end to end. The Pulse Elevate wireless speakers are set to launch later this year – stay tuned for more details on PlayStation Blog. Find out how enhanced PSSR is powering the Ultimate Racing Experience in EA Sports F1 25: 2026 Season Pack, as Codemasters Technical Producer Si Lumb unpacks how the team has implemented the new system and the benefits to the on-track action. Has special work gone into creating this PS5 Pro version, or is this a fairly straightforward implementation? Also, has the game been cleared to include a “PS5 Pro Enhanced” badge on PS Store? F1 25 launched with a PS5 Pro Enhanced badge, building on the team’s launch day support of PS5 Pro in the previous game, F1 24. We are delighted to continue to support PSSR in the F1 25: 2026 Season Pack update and bring the latest version to our players. The team at Sony made upgrading our title to use enhanced PSSR incredibly simple and including it at launch was an easy decision. Does the PS5 Pro version notably increase the game’s resolution or use PSSR? At Codemasters we pride ourselves on delivering locked 60fps gameplay in our exclusive ray tracing enhanced Quality mode, the introduction of PSSR gives us more performance and a higher quality image. Players should notice a sharper image when booting F1 25 at the launch of the 2026 Season Pack. Does the PS5 Pro version increase framerate, or add new rendering modes that address framerate? The PS5 Pro benefits from Quality mode: our ray tracing enhanced presentation with enhanced PSSR, that is the best you can get on console hardware. Our performance mode delivers 120Hz gameplay for compatible screens, and our spectacular 8K “resolution” mode is there for those with the high-resolution televisions to enjoy it. Does the PS5 Pro version improve ray tracing or enhance ray tracing features such as global illumination? We feature Ray Traced reflections, dynamic diffuse global illumination, and ray traced global illumination in our PS5 Pro quality mode. Are there any other areas where PS5 Pro stands out from other versions of the game? All these enhancements come together in spectacular fashion in the 2026 Season Pack, particularly with the new Madring circuit, the first track built from the ground up with all these new features in mind. This crazy new high-speed street circuit is the perfect location to experience enhanced PSSR and all our Ray Tracing features at their very best. Play Video What is included in the F1 25: 2026 Season Pack? The F1 25: 2026 Season Pack introduces the full 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship experience to EA Sports F1 25, featuring updated rules and regulations, new teams Audi and Cadillac, refreshed driver line-ups, and the brand-new Madring circuit. Players will experience a new era of F1 gameplay with active aerodynamics and the new Overtake mode, delivering more tactical and action-packed racing. The pack also expands Career and My Team, allowing players to forge their racing legacy or become the 12th team on the grid with fully customizable team management. If I don’t own F1 25, how can I play the DLC? The F1 25: 2026 Season Edition is the game for you. Not only does this include all of the 2026 Season Pack content, but you will also get F1 25 featuring a revamped My Team mode, the thrilling third chapter of Braking Point and more. We’re excited to be giving PlayStation players their first chance to go hands-on with NBA The Run in our open beta this weekend. One of our core design pillars from the beginning was to make a game that feels like butter on the sticks. So when you’re pulling off a 720 with Ant, splashing a Steph stepback 3, or snatching a block out of midair with Giannis, it feels smooth, fluid. We can’t wait to get your feedback before the game drops on June 9 on PS5. Play Video Today, we wanted to share more about the other players in our game who have been with us since the beginning of development – the Street Legends. They’re fictional (except for one, keep reading on), larger-than-life characters we’ve built from the ground up. They differ from their NBA counterparts in having three elite, high-impact skills but also clear weaknesses across the board in other places. I like to think of them as x-factors who factor into the risk/reward gameplay strategy in NBA The Run. There will be times where you may be at a disadvantage because of a ruleset or opposing team’s squad comp, but there will also be games where you might be running the court. Here’s a more in-depth look at each of our five Street Legends. Spin cycle Born in Philly, Spin Cycle learned the game between work shifts delivering laundry. That grind shows, as does his attention to detail. If you look closely, his home court, Spring Garden, was modified to reflect his name. Elite handles and elite hands, Spin Cycle lives off turnovers. His Pickpocket Zone Ability makes him a nightmare for ballhandlers. He has limited finishing skills at the rim, but his ability to disrupt plays every time is underrated. Shen Tong Shen Tong is China’s next streetball phenom at 14years old, spending countless hours practicing under the blinding sun of the Dongdan Sports Complex in Beijing. He’s only 5’3, but has huge hops. He’s fearless, finishing at the rim with signature dunks and controls tempo with his elite passing. His In the Zone Ability, Dropping Dimes, boosts both his passes and his teammates’ shot success. Just don’t ask him to lock down or muscle up. Defense and power are where he gets exposed. If you get to level 5 in the beta, you’ll unlock Shen. DJ Destiny Jackson, aka DJ, is Harlem royalty who calls Rucker Park her home court. Basketball runs in her blood, as her father was also a famous street legend in the area. She is a walking bucket as her midrange and deep ball are all elite, and when she gets In the Zone, her Deep Threat ability stretches the floor even further. But above the arc is where she lives. Don’t expect her to attack the rim or crash the boards. If you play the beta this weekend, you’ll get to try DJ. El Gigante We like to think of him as the OG unicorn. The 7’7 El Gigante owns the paint with rebounds, blocks, and vertical dominance at the highest levels in the game. The Spaniard’s Paint Control ability turns the rim into his territory into a no-fly zone. This unicorn is not built for speed. If he commits and misses, his recovery time isn’t great. Venice Beach is his home court. Bobbito Garcia Bobbito Garcia, aka Kool Bob Love / DJ Cucumber Slice, is the legendary voice of NBA The Run and the energy behind every knockout run. Known for iconic calls like Donqueooo and butter biscuits, he brings that same smooth rhythm to the court. When he’s on the mic, you can say every court is his homecourt. Deadly from deep, silky with the ball. When In the Zone activates, his Ankle Breaker makes defenders go viral for all the wrong reasons. Just don’t ask Bob to defend, even he would tell you his offense more than makes up for his in-game skills on that side of the ball. Why choose a Street Legend over an NBA star? Simple: raw power in specific skills. Most players cap out at one or two 6-star attributes. Street Legends break that rule with three 6-star ratings, making them the best-in-game specialists for their roles. If you want peak performance for a playstyle, you’re going to want to consider at least one on your squad. They’re rarer, powerful, and designed for players willing to take strategic risks for elite upside. Take this example: El Gigante anchors defense while offensive stars like Brunson and Mitchell cook on the perimeter. Gigante protects the paint, triggers Paint Control, and turns stops into momentum swings. That’s a squad built to punish mistakes. Ready to play? So the question is simple: Which Street Legend are you running with? Will squads of all Legends take over the courts? We’ll see soon enough. NBA The Run launches soon on June 9 for PS5 for $29.99. Join us in our Open Beta this weekend starting on May 30. Wishlist now on PlayStation Store and nbatherun.com. We’ll keep evolving NBA The Run with community feedback beyond release. Join our Discord, bring your voice, and we’ll see you on the court very soon! View the full article

Developer Infinity Ward reveals Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 for PlayStation 5, the long-awaited next chapter in the iconic FPS. Play Video Witness the unfolding of a new war with global consequences in the gripping single-player Campaign, experience grounded, precise combat in Multiplayer, and drop into the definitive Call of Duty extraction mode with the return of DMZ. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches October 23. Warfare without limits War erupts on the Korean Peninsula as North Korea launches a full-scale invasion that threatens to destabilize the world. On the collapsing front lines, a young squad of South Korean soldiers struggle to survive against impossible odds, while half a world away a vengeful Captain Price wages a personal war from the shadows as he stays one step ahead of those hunting him. As Price’s off-book mission collides with the forces behind the invasion, the war spreads beyond anyone’s control. Campaign The Modern Warfare 4 Campaign puts players in the boots of Private Park, a young South Korean soldier facing live combat for the first time alongside his squad. Beyond the front lines, the story reunites players with operator-turned-outlaw Captain Price, now operating outside the system he once served. A hunt for revenge draws him toward a weapon powerful enough to shift the balance of power, setting in motion a conflict far greater than he ever anticipated. Forced into uneasy alliances and covert operations, Price is pulled deeper into consequences he can no longer escape. Fight through trench warfare in Korea, survive close-quarters combat in New York, race through high-octane chases across Paris, and join SAS night raids in Mumbai. From large-scale battles and covert missions to combined-arms warfare and cinematic set pieces, Modern Warfare 4 delivers grounded combat across a war that spreads far beyond the front lines. Multiplayer On day one, Multiplayer features 12 core 6v6 maps set in visually distinct locations around the world, alongside dedicated Gunfight maps and multiple Big War maps built for large-scale vehicle and infantry combat. Also launching day one, Kill Block is a brand-new Multiplayer experience set inside a live-fire training facility where the battlefield reconfigures between rounds, creating new routes, sightlines, and tactical decisions as the fight unfolds. Modern Warfare 4 introduces Ballistic Authority, a new weapon-first technology stack that unifies precision aiming, physical handling, realistic audio propagation, enhanced visibility, and smarter combat perception, providing the most authentic Modern Warfare gunplay yet. Bullet trajectory, weapon motion, Operator stance, camera, audio, FOV, and target visibility all line up in one highly-tuned combat fidelity system. The promise is simple: no bloom, no guesswork, no doubt. Every shot tells the truth. Modern Warfare 4 Multiplayer delivers grounded, precise combat built around fluid movement that provides greater control in every fight. Players can move more naturally through combat, flank opponents, gain new vantage points, and keep momentum through every engagement. Every movement system is designed to preserve the physicality and combat intensity of Modern Warfare while delivering the fluid, cinematic feeling of operating as an elite soldier in the field. DMZ Deploy solo or with a squad into a volatile conflict zone in DMZ, a fully realized extraction experience built for both newcomers and veteran operators alike. Assume the role of an off-the-books asset tasked with recovering advanced military technology left in the wake of war. The conditions in the exclusion zone are always shifting, with changing weather, dynamic military objectives, and hostile forces moving throughout the zone. Loot, fight, negotiate, betray, and extract with whatever you can carry. Push deeper into the conflict for greater rewards, but know that every decision can cost you. Every deployment is a risk, every encounter is unpredictable, and no two deployments play out the same way. At its core, BeamNG.drive is a driving sim unlike any other, powered by an uncompromising real-time soft-body physics engine. “When console?” is a question we’ve been asked, in some form or another, for the better part of a decade and I’m excited to be able to say we’re bringing our world of cars and chaos to PlayStation 5. While the game is best known for its spectacular car crashes, they are merely an outcome of the physics doing its job underneath. In BeamNG.drive, every component of the vehicle is simulated individually as a network of nodes and beams that can flex under load, deform, or even break outright when pushed too far. As a result, vehicle behavior is never scripted, but emerges from those tiny interactions, allowing the game to produce true-to-life handling dynamics with incredibly accurate damage modeling. And all of it happens really fast — the physics engine updates at a rate of 2kHz — meaning the vehicle is being fully re-evaluated two thousand times every second. Play Video This system allows for things that are normally impossible to depict outside of pre-rendered cutscenes. Damage is not cosmetic, and no two crashes feel alike. Take a buggy across rocky ground or hit a curb at the wrong angle and you can trace how every impact gradually propagates through the structure of the vehicle, part by part, just like it would in real life. The freedom to experiment is near-limitless. A versatile lineup of a thousand detailed vehicle configurations is on offer for any type of automotive enthusiast. Chasing lap times? Supercars, sport cars, and muscle cars are warmed up and waiting. Picking up groceries? Grab an SUV, a minivan, or one of those intentionally questionable mid-90s sedans. Urban chauffeuring? There are buses, taxis, and a limousine at your service. Dirt is your final frontier? Purpose-built desert trucks and rock crawlers will get you there, probably. Having a rough day? An entire fleet of heavy machinery is standing by, ready to help you “accidentally” drop a 40-ton marble block onto an unsuspecting van. All of this is accompanied by a large selection of trailers and props, ranging from a simple traffic cone all the way to a giant spinner to wreak havoc with. For those who like to tinker, customization is available across the board, and depending on the model, it can be remarkably extensive. Start paint-deep or dig in and swap the engine, suspension type, change drivetrain layout, fit different wheels and tires, sprinkle in some aftermarket performance parts – until you’ve engineered a creation that Theseus himself wouldn’t be able to recognize. Every tweak will be reflected in how the car feels on the road, and you can take it even further with adjustable sway bars, ride height, tire pressure, locking differentials, high/low range transfer cases, triple-bypass shocks on the off-roaders, adaptive spoilers, and much more. Whether you’re chasing a personal best, picking a line through technical terrain, or reversing a loaded trailer into a tight dock, BeamNG.drive meets you where you are. There’s plenty to discover as you test out that fresh custom setup. The game comes with a dozen open-world maps, featuring coastal, mountain, desert, industrial, and suburban environments, all packed with a variety of gameplay experiences. Players who enjoy a more structured approach can make use of the mission system that offers a selection of races, time trials, police chases, and other challenges, while Freeroam mode is perfect for exploring the world on your own terms, with simulated traffic or without. There’s no wrong way to play. The level of fidelity and depth that BeamNG.drive is known for is a serious challenge on any platform. To preserve what makes the experience special, extensive optimization and careful refinement were required under the hood across performance, controls, interface, overall usability, and many other systems. Bringing BeamNG.drive to consoles has been a complex undertaking for the team, and this milestone reflects the enormous effort that went into navigating countless technical challenges and meeting unique architectural demands. In all ways, BeamNG.drive has always been a labor of love – starting from a humble tech demo to the massive community the game boasts today. Releasing on PlayStation 5 is a huge achievement for us, and we’re looking forward to sharing this adventure with the console audience. View the full article

What secrets lurk in the dark as night descends on Marathon’s second season? Season 2 is coming June 2, bringing new challenges, new opportunities, and new ways to play. You’ll be able to try out Season 2 for yourself with Marathon Open Play Week from June 2- 9. During Open Play Week, the full game will be available on PlayStation 5 (no PlayStation Plus membership required) and any progress you make will carry over into Season 2. Today we’re excited to bring you an overview of what to expect when the lights go out. Play Video Into the night Veteran Marathon players already know that Dire Marsh can be an unforgiving place. With its deadly mixture of long sight lines, elevated perches, and concentrated points of interest, one wrong move in the Marsh can change a run in an instant. For Season 2, we’re offering up a new vision of the Marsh, as night descends in the zone, the light disappears, and the tension skyrockets. With the new Night Marsh zone, light comes at a premium, with multiple areas that feature pitch darkness. Even the exterior wayfinding lights you might rely on are reduced, amping up the dependence on quiet steps, maximum awareness, and a quick trigger finger. Thankfully, players will have new tools at their disposal, including attached lights on their Runner shells, as well as new loot options they can use to combat the darkness, including Darksight scopes and signal flares. But beware: the light you may be using to find your way might just be a beacon for an enemy. Alongside the challenge of navigating the darkness of Night Marsh comes new enemies to contend with as the anomaly stirs. Meanwhile the UESC has increased its presence to fortify the Complex building for reasons unknown. What are they protecting? The answers will be yours to discover. Play Video Sentinel With Season 2, we’re introducing more variety to the Runner mix in the form of Sentinel, a new defensive shell designed to control space and shape encounters before they even begin. With a mixture of tools and abilities that offer defensive safeguards, superior intel, and deadly traps, a skilled Sentinel player can control tempo, force hesitation, and turn enemy aggression into deadly mistakes. Be reborn In Season 2, you’ll have more control over your Runner shell progression over the course of the season thanks to the Cradle. This new system will let you level up the WEAVEworms that create your cybernetic body and shape your upgrade path as the season continues. You’ll do so with WEAVEworm Energy you can earn and use to level up your Cradle, routing that Energy into upgrade paths that unlock stat gains and access to new perks. Best of all, you can reallocate your Energy at any time during the season: Simply reset to have your Energy refunded and start again. With the Cradle we’re offering more customization, allowing you to fit your Runner shell into your preferred playstyle. A fresh start with new tools Season 2 will begin with a full reset for all Marathon players, leveling the playing field, so that every Runner is once again on the same page gear-wise. It’s a time when everyone is discovering what’s new and learning how to survive Tau Ceti together. As you build your Runner back up, we’ll have more fun to find, including two new weapons to collect–a small-arms SMG known as the KKV, designed for close-range DPS, and the D54 Battle Pistol, which comes equipped with an integrated red dot optic. Look for new mods, cores, and implants to continue refining your Runner shell into the biocybernetics merc you were born (and reborn) to be. Season 2 also brings increased faction progression speed, a larger Vault, improvements to some of the more frustrating contracts, and more quality-of-life changes to help you on your climb. Finally, if you’ve played previous Bungie games before, you might know about Bungie Rewards – our ongoing program that lets you unlock the ability to purchase exclusive game-inspired rewards by completing challenges in the game. We’re happy to share that Bungie Rewards will be coming to Marathon with Season 2 and you can look for more details coming soon. Until then, grab those flashlights and watch your six. You never know what surrounds you in the darkness… View the full article

On May 27, 2026, Square Enix’s beloved national RPG phenomenon, Dragon Quest, celebrates its monumental 40th anniversary. Crafted by series creator Yuji Horii, character designer Akira Toriyama, and composer Koichi Sugiyama, the world of Dragon Quest has evolved over time, continuing to capture the hearts of fans worldwide. In this article, we’re putting the spotlight on six major mainline titles released on PlayStation. Let’s take a look back at the historical backdrops of their original releases, their place in the franchise, and the groundbreaking innovations they brought to storytelling, gameplay systems, and overall presentation. Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past Platform: PlayStation | Release Date: August 26th, 2000 (Japan) / November 1st, 2001 (US) This is the historic milestone where the legacy of Dragon Quest and PlayStation began. As the first mainline entry to land on the PlayStation, it introduced 3D polygon graphics to the series for the very first time. Spanning across a massive, two-disc CD-ROM set, its epic saga revolving around mysterious stone tablets became the talk of the industry as a true behemoth of a game, taking over 100 hours to complete. Featuring a unique system where collecting “Fragments” allows players to travel between the past and present, the game tasks you with gradually restoring a lost world. On top of the series’ familiar vocations, players could now even change into Monster vocations! Visually, it marked the franchise’s first foray into 3D maps, letting players rotate the camera to explore their surroundings. It felt like a true evolutionary leap into the PlayStation era. Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King Platform: PlayStation 2 | Release Date: November 27th, 2004 (Japan) / November 15th, 2005 (US) Harnessing the processing power of the PlayStation 2, this entry stood as the series’ very first fully 3D title. With characters, environments, and cutscenes all rendered in beautiful 3D, players could finally explore a breathtaking world that stretched as far as the eye could see. It also introduced foundational mechanics like character-shaping “Skill Points,” making it a definitive turning point for the franchise. This was also the first mainline title to be released following the merger of Square and Enix. The narrative follows an epic quest to break the curse of the wicked jester, Dhoulmagus. This title laid the groundwork for future entries by introducing now-staple systems like the “Psyche Up” mechanic, “Skill Points,” and the “Alchemy Pot.” Its stunning cel-shaded character animations, immersive behind-the-scenes field camera, and seamless real-time cutscenes delivered a cinematic, three-dimensional adventure perfectly fitting the PS2 generation. Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age Platform: PlayStation 4 | Release Date: July 29th, 2017 (Japan) / September 4, 2018 Developed as part of the Dragon Quest 30th anniversary project, this title served as both a return to the series’ roots and its grand culmination. Pivoting away from the online world of Dragon Quest X Online, this entry brought the franchise back to its offline origins, building a brand-new world rich with nostalgic homages to past titles. While exploring a deeply resonant narrative that redefines “What is a Hero?”, the game cleverly weaves in elements that tie back to the legendary “Erdrick Trilogy.” Combat features the dynamic “Pep” and “Pep Powers” systems, while character progression utilizes the customizable “Character Builder.” It also added “Draconian Quest” modifiers for high-difficulty challenges, offering immense gameplay freedom. Between the gorgeous, high-definition world rendered in Unreal Engine 4, the inclusion of retro “Spell of Restoration” passwords, and legacy throwbacks, longtime fans had plenty to celebrate. Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age is available on PlayStation Store. Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation Platform: PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 | Release Date: PlayStation 5: November 14th, 2024 (Japan & US) / PlayStation 4: August 24th, 2017 (Japan) / September 27, 2019 (US) The grand finale to the iconic “Erdrick Trilogy” that began with Dragon Quest and Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line. The original 1988 release was such an astronomical success that it became a literal social phenomenon in Japan. The 2024 PlayStation 5 version is a full remake that completely reimagines the visuals using “HD-2D,” a beautiful fusion of pixel art and 3D graphics, while heavily modernizing the gameplay systems. It also sparked massive buzz with new narrative twists that bridge the gap to Dragon Quest I & II. This version features expanded story episodes centered around Ortega, the protagonist’s father, allowing players to dive even deeper into the Erdrick lore. The addition of the brand-new “Monster Wrangler” vocation and the “Monster Arena” battle tournament greatly expands the variety of gameplay. The HD-2D aesthetic beautifully preserves the nostalgic spirit of the original while delivering a cutting-edge visual experience, further heightened by fully voiced event scenes and a sweeping orchestral soundtrack. Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is available on PlayStation Store. Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake Platform: PlayStation 5 | Release Date: October 30, 2025 (Japan & US) In 1986, the original Dragon Quest launched as Japan’s very first premier home-console RPG, followed in 1987 by the smash-hit sequel Dragon Quest II: Luminaries of the Legendary Line. This full remake bundles both legendary titles into a single package, completely overhauled with fresh scenario content, brand-new features, and gorgeous HD-2D graphics. By diving into this bundle after completing the chronological prologue of Dragon Quest III, players can experience the sweeping interconnectedness of the “Erdrick Trilogy” at its absolute best. Combat has been revamped to allow battles against multiple monsters in DQ I, while DQ II features a party of up to four characters, introducing a brand-new princess from the Kingdom of Moonbrooke. Exciting new elements have been implemented across both games, such as “Scrolls” that teach specific skills, and the inclusion of DQ II’s collectible “Sigils” into DQ I. The HD-2D art style seamlessly blends pixel-art characters with 3D backdrops to deliver an experience that feels wonderfully nostalgic yet completely fresh. Combined with fully voiced cutscenes and a majestic orchestral score, immersion into the franchise’s roots has never been deeper. Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is available on PlayStation Store. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined Platform: PlayStation 5 | Release Date: February 5, 2026 (Japan & US) A completely reconstructed remake of the classic Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Reborn with a charming “Doll Look” puppet-like art style, it preserves the profound worldbuilding of the original while increasing the overall density of the story. The biggest selling point here is sheer accessibility. Combat has been dramatically sped up, and travel is faster than ever thanks to Zoom-based fast travel. Complete with a hint feature that tracks down nearby Fragments and a user-friendly UI designed for easy navigation, this stress-free experience ensures that every player can see the adventure through to its grand finale. While the original game was a massive epic requiring over 100 hours to beat, this version streamlines the overall pacing, condensing the gargantuan storyline without losing its emotional weight. On top of that, it introduces brand-new scenario content, including an episode following Kiefer later in life. Combat supports three selectable speed tiers and auto-battle options, and weaker enemies can be defeated instantly with a quick strike right on the field map for seamless progression. The unique “Doll Look” visual style—achieved by photographing actual hand-carved wooden puppets and translating them into CG—alongside the addition of full voice acting, makes this a truly distinctive journey. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined is available on PlayStation Store. View the full article

Hello, No Man’s Sky turns 10 in August, and we feel very lucky that we still get the chance to work on it every day. What we love about sci-fi, and about No Man’s Sky, is that it can be a canvas for so many ideas. Our last update introduced Pokemon-style pet battling, which players have put a ton of hours into, but takes place on just a small table… our next update is something much larger…. Something new, huge and foreboding is hanging in the sky above planets. Unlike anything we’ve seen before. Players are going to need a combined community effort to figure out what is going on. Travellers will boot up to be greeted with a personality test, dividing players into three factions, each will need to co-operate, strategise and compete to counter the Hive of Glass, an existential threat to the universe. A war effort is being launched from the Nexus, with defenses rapidly being constructed, and a new bulletin page tracking progress. Your contribution to the face-off with the Hive is being logged for all to see in both the Anomaly and the Galactic Atlas (https://galacticatlas.nomanssky.com/). Travellers will want to keep a constant eye on which squad is contributing the most to the war effort. The most effective faction will be memorialised in the Space Anomaly for all time! Epic space battles are at the core of science fiction, and The Swarm update brings our biggest and most epic space battles to date. The Hive of Glass protects itself by releasing swarms of robotic drones, creating an awesome spectacle of battles with hundreds of ships. The Hive itself is a weapon too, with the iris opening to release the largest weapon we’ve ever seen in No Man’s Sky. A laser capable of destroying freighter fleets and perhaps even something as large as a space station… While in space there are huge battles, on planet there is investigating and pillaging the remains of crashed drones (using the newly-acquired Gravity Gun we introduced earlier this year). Shot down drones need to be salvaged and researched. There are miniature planetary swarms to defeat, and research efforts to sabotage the swarm’s network. The secrets of the Hive’s origins and weaknesses can be uncovered and shared with your fellow rebels. As well as saving the universe, there are a host of rewards, including a full suit of armour that has a retro sci-fi feel, a new rifle, huge new jetpack and much more. I love that this year we’ve had players collecting trash with a new gravity gun, battling pets in the Xeno Arena, and now fighting off a high action threat to the universe in The Swarm. The prospect of all existing Travellers converging on a single area of the universe to take the largest space battles to date, against the back-drop of an ominous, mysterious Death Star like construct, with the ability to destroy space station sized objects… is going to make for some exciting weeks ahead for us and for players. We can’t wait to see how this plays out. Our journey continues. View the full article

Play Video A living Eastern Court of secrets and fun The expansion unlocks the Kaifeng Imperial Palace – a sprawling forbidden city spanning over one million square meters. From grand ceremonial halls to hidden corners shrouded in secrecy, more than 3,000 dynamic NPCs create a living, ever-changing palace ecosystem. Entering under the pretense of an investigation, you will unexpectedly join the Office of Martial and Virtue – the court’s elite intelligence agency. As an undercover agent, you will gradually untangling the hidden truths buried beneath the center of power. But the palace isn’t just about rigid espionage; it is full of vibrant everyday culture. You can engage in Cricket Fighting, seasonal Ice Frolicking, jail breaking from the Imperial Prison, sneaking a taste of the royal meal, or stumble upon hidden martial arts masters. Lethal dangers also await in the shadows: you will confront the dynasty’s dark history in the heavily guarded Sealed Treasury, face brutal illusions in the underground Confinement Tower, and battle eerie World Bosses like the Silken Wrath and the Royal Kitten. Enhancing immersion with PS5 Pro and upgraded PSSR We have specially optimized the most demanding in-game scenarios for PlayStation 5. Whether wandering through bustling imperial streets teeming with NPCs, triggering magnificent grand court events, or engaging in epic boss battles with stunning visual effects, PlayStation 5 handles all gameplay scenarios with effortless ease. For players venturing into the Jianghu world on PS5 Pro, we have unlocked new hardware capabilities. The PS5 Pro edition comes with ray-traced reflections, which deliver stunning visual effects particularly on water surfaces inside palaces. During exploration, moats and courtyard ponds dynamically mirror the gentle glow of lanterns, drifting clouds and your character’s movements. In vast palace environments, PS5 Pro maintains stable performance at approximately 60fps for a smooth exploration journey. Powered by the upgraded PSSR super-resolution upgrade, the overall visual clarity of the imperial palace has seen substantial improvements. Fine details including sleek roof ridge curves, ceiling paintings and intricate lantern textures appear sharper and more defined than ever before. Most notably, PSSR enhances dynamic stability, greatly minimizing ghosting and flickering effects when dashing across rooftops or swiftly panning the camera to search for clues. The massive gates of Kaifeng are parting, and the empire’s deepest secrets hang in the balance. Draw your blade, steel your resolve, and plunge into the majestic, perilous shadows of the Imperial Palace on May 28. View the full article

Tickets are now on sale for the event that will be held in partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board and form one of the events of Grand Prix™ Season Singapore (2 to 11 October 2026) as the city builds up to its annual Formula 1 race, that takes place from 9 to 11 October 2026. A Singapore Regional Time Trial Challenge held in-game on Gran Turismo 7 in August, with participants from Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia and Indonesia eligible to take part (Terms and Conditions will be posted on Gran-Turismo.com in due course). The Time Trial will result in competitors from Singapore being joined by the fastest racer from each of the other participating territories, invited to attend the Gran Turismo World Series and compete on stage in a special support race – the Singapore Regional Gran Turismo Cup. The Singapore event will be the first time for the Gran Turismo World Series to visit Southeast Asia. Singapore has a strong automotive, motor sport and gaming culture and so an enthusiastic crowd is expected at the Sands Theatre during Grand Prix Season Singapore. “As an elite sim racing tournament, the highly regarded Gran Turismo World Series reinforces Singapore’s position as a premier destination for world-class sporting and entertainment events. We look forward to the energy and excitement that Round 3 will bring to our city as the penultimate round, adding further vibrancy to this year’s Grand Prix™ Season Singapore,” said Lilian Chee, Director, Sports, Singapore Tourism Board.” “Singapore is a great place to visit and so we hope that fans of Gran Turismo from across the region will be able to come and watch our top racers in action,” commented Gran Turismo Series Producer Kazunori Yamauchi. “The regional Time Trial is an opportunity for us to discover talented drivers from the region and give them a chance to race on stage in front of a live audience and maybe that experience will give them the confidence to make it into the Gran Turismo World Series in future.” As well as the Singapore Regional Gran Turismo Cup, fans will have a chance to witness some of the fastest SIM racers in the world in the Manufacturers Cup and Nations Cup with a single ticket covering all three events on the afternoon and evening of Saturday, 3 October. The event is the last points-scoring opportunity before the Gran Turismo World Series moves to Tokyo for the World Finals in early December, and so the competition will be fierce.
