DONT KNOW IF T'S A GOOD THING .BUT YOU COULD BE SURE THE PITCHING WOULD BE GOOD.but there is a-lot of good prospects mentioned.... ;D BOSTON -- Theo Epstein won't talk publicly about Johan Santana, even though the Boston Red Sox appear to be trying to add the two-time AL Cy Young Award winner to their already strong rotation. Advertisement "There are a lot of interesting names held out there on the trade market and whether those names are moved remains to be seen," the Red Sox general manager said Friday during a conference call. Epstein plans to focus on improving the team's bench and bullpen in the coming weeks. "That doesn't mean we're going to look past an opportunity to get better," he said in response to a question about possible trades. The Red Sox and New York Yankees are trying to acquire the Minnesota Twins left-hander, with Boston willing to offer a package of players that might include left-hander Jon Lester -- the World Series Game 4 winner -- right-hander Clay Buchholz or center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury. One possible scenario has the Red Sox shipping veteran center fielder Coco Crisp and one of the pitchers to the Twins. Crisp was benched in favor of Ellsbury during the World Series sweep of the Colorado Rockies. Epstein acknowledged Crisp hasn't hit as well in his two seasons in Boston as he did in his prior two years in Cleveland -- .268 last season compared with .300 in his last year with the Indians. But Epstein still considers Crisp to be "one of the best center fielders in the league." "I think we're very lucky to have two very good center fielders on the roster, and they're not mutually exclusive," Epstein said. "There can be roles for both guys on the club, and even a little competition in spring training." Epstein also said the team was amenable to re-signing free agent reliever Mike Timlin and outfielder Bobby Kielty, who hit the home run that turned out be the margin of difference in Game 4 of the World Series. The team also hopes to sign manager Terry Francona to a contract extension before spring training, Epstein said. "It's safe to say we're in a little bit better position this year, where we don't have to delve into free agency to fill holes," Epstein said.

MIAMI (AP) -- The Miami-Dade Police Department arrested four people Friday in connection with the shooting death of Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor. Police spokeswoman Linda O'Brien identified the men as: Venjah K. Hunte, 20; Eric Rivera Jr., 17; Jason Scott Mitchell, 17; and Charles Kendrick Lee Wardlow, 18. O'Brien said the charges for each had not yet been determined, but "we are talking murder and burglary." The four men were arrested Friday in southwest Florida, about 100 miles from Miami. They will be booked into the Lee County Jail and eventually will be returned to Miami, she said. O'Brien did not have any information on when they would appear in court or if they had attorneys. Taylor died Tuesday, one day after being shot at his home in an affluent Miami suburb during what officials said appeared to be an attempted burglary. The suspects weren't expecting Taylor to be home, police director Robert Parker said, but Taylor was recuperating from a knee injury and had returned to Miami from Washington. "They were certainly not looking to go there and kill anyone," Parker said. He added authorities had more than one confession but would not elaborate. ADVERTISEMENT "We're looking into whether or not one or more of the individuals had been at the residence before," Parker said. The Miami Herald reported investigators believe the men learned of Taylor's house through someone who unwittingly set up the burglary by bragging about Taylor's wealth. Taylor and longtime girlfriend, Jackie Garcia, were awakened early Monday by loud noises at Taylor's home, family friend Richard Sharpstein said. Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection, Sharpstein said, then someone broke through the bedroom door and fired two shots, one missing and one hitting Taylor in the upper leg. Neither the couple's 18-month-old daughter, also named Jackie, nor Garcia were injured. The bullet damaged the femoral artery in Taylor's leg, causing significant blood loss. Taylor never regained consciousness and died a little more than 24 hours later. A public viewing for Taylor is scheduled Sunday in Miami, and the entire Redskins organization plans to fly to Florida to attend Monday's funeral at Pharmed Arena at Florida International University. The Redskins also announced that fans attending the team's Sunday game will receive a towel with Taylor's No.21 jersey on it and that his name will be displayed prominently in one of the end zones. Team owner Dan Snyder said in a statement the team will contribute a minimum of $500,000 to a fund to benefit Taylor's daughter. Associated Press Writer Brian Skoloff in West Palm Beach, Damian Grass in Miami, and AP Sports Writer Joseph White in Ashburn, Va., contributed to this report.

THIS IS WHERE I LIVED FOR A SHORT WHILE, AND MY MOM'S LIVES RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER FROM THIS SHIT... I DRIVE BY THIS SHIT DAILY.... CRAZY SHIT I'M JUST GLAD MY MOM ISNT VOTING FOR THAT LADY http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071130/ap_on_re_us/clinton_office_hostages ROCHESTER, N.H. - A deranged man wearing what appeared to be a bomb strapped to his chest walked into a Hillary Rodham Clinton campaign office Friday, took several hostages and demanded to speak to the candidate, authorities said. ADVERTISEMENT The man released at least three hostages as the afternoon wore on, but nearly four hours after the standoff began, police said they were still dealing with a hostage situation and the man had not been taken into custody. "We're confident we have the resources available to end this safely," Capt. Paul Callaghan said at a briefing. He repeatedly refused to say how many hostages were taken and how many remained. Clinton was in the Washington area at the time, and extra security precautions were taken to protect the former first lady, who still has a Secret Service detail, said a law-enforcement official, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the situation. The man entered the simple storefront office along the town's main street around 1 p.m., ordered people onto the floor and then let a mother and her baby leave, said State Police Maj. Michael Hambrook. About two hours later, a woman in a green sweater was led away from the building by a SWAT team member. Authorities, some carrying shields and guns, had the building surrounded. Police used a loudspeaker to announce to the hostage-taker that they were going to try to send a phone in so they could talk to him. They then laid wiring up to the building's entrance before the woman was released. The office, in a town of 30,000, is one of many Clinton has around New Hampshire. The suspect was an older man known around the town to be mentally unstable, the law enforcement official told the AP. He walked into the campaign office and opened his jacket, revealing what appeared to be a pipe bomb. The law enforcement official confirmed the name of the man as Leeland Eisenberg and said Eisenberg demanded to speak with Clinton. But authorities did not know what Leeland wanted to talk to Clinton about. Witness Lettie Tzizik told television station WMUR of Manchester that she spoke to the woman who was released first and that she was crying, holding the infant. "She said, 'You need to call 911. A man has just walked into the Clinton office, opened his coat and showed us a bomb strapped to his chest with duct tape," Tzizik said. Clinton was scheduled to give an address at the Democratic National Committee meeting in Vienna, Va., Friday afternoon, but DNC Chairman Howard Dean announced from the podium that Clinton would not speak. "We are in close contact with state and local authorities and are acting at their direction," Clinton said in a statement. "We will release additional details as appropriate." Bill Clinton was in New York during the hostage situation and suspended his schedule Friday, spokesman Ben Yarrow said. He declined to comment on whether the former president was receiving increased security. Authorities sent a tactical bomb unit to assist local police, and the area was evacuated, Hambrook said. A nearby school was in lockdown. The small Clinton office is located in the New England community's downtown area in a strip of several storefronts, and has large glass windows with a campaign sign out front. Police with guns drawn crouched behind cruisers across the street from the office. Workers for Sen. Barack Obama's campaign office also evacuated, a campaign spokesman said. The office is four doors away from Clinton's. Staffers in John Edwards' office, a few buildings away, evacuated as well.
