***PLEASE -PLAY- THIS GAME A WHILE BEFORE VOTING***

- You have TWO votes you can throw in!

UF would like to get initial reactions to the PLAY of this game.

This means:

DON'T vote after just watching the trailer.

DON'T vote after just getting shot for the first time.

DON'T vote after only playing for 30 minutes.

IF you are picking up this game, give it a GOOD, thorough play-through BEFORE voting your two choices in this poll.

TRY and eliminate the "I-just-got-it" hype before voting.

Others who have not bought this game may use your votes in deciding whether or not they should sacrifice the $50, and of course, UF is interested in your TRUE opinions for potential UF-inclusion.

Thanks, guys.

Again, PLEASE play this game up before voting right away.

How do some of you feel the gameplay is w/o rumble?

I'm kinda stuck between the 360 and PS3 versions.

PS3 version. So you can get on with me! gosh... Rumble isn't that big of a effect anyways. There will probably be an update when the Dualshock 3s come out...

Ok, well I guess you convinced me then, lol.   ;D

I'll be getting the PS3 version sometime next week. Probably Tuesday.

Well, its no secret that I love the game.....

I think it will be interesting how the UF develops a story line and decides which way to go with modes. Im not a respawn fan but some modes that include respawn really dont bother me as much. I guess because you have a goal (like in domination) or semi respawn (like in headquarters) in doesnt feel like total wreckless type gameplay.

I think this is a MAJOR title that could be used here for a long time. A lot of options to choose from..... If, and when the UF decides to do something, count [iLL] in.

Played it for about 4.5 hours tonight.

Socom lovers will definitely have to get USED to it.

I will FIRST say, before I get into everything else....that I LIKE this game.

Now......

The good:

> The graphics, as expected, are spectacular. On the map "Downpour," when you scope onto the ground at about 50 yards away, you actually SEE the rain hit the ground and the splash upward. The detail here is phenomenal. The smoke trail from an RPG is pretty breath taking as well.

> You can pretty much put bullet holes into EVERYTHING. Now, initially, you would think that this would be cool to SHOOT at, but no....what makes this cool is that when YOU are taking fire, and the bullets are smashing everything around you, it heightens the excitement level by a lot.

> The different guns you must attain through rank is pretty cool. It made you WANT to excel....not just go out and shoot some bodies.

> Mic-ing in without having to press a button is good....and bad. Good in that it's one less button to push while in-game. Bad because you have to hear everyone breathe into the mic too hard, listen to their kids/wives/pets whining in the background and ANY idiot thing someone wants to mutter under their breath gets heard. Good and bad......

> The fun level I had personally was pretty high. The environments are very detailed and the game play was very smooth. Lag was almost non-existent though I DID see some individuals here and there with a little skip in their step. I think this is more an individual thing and less a game/server thing. The 9v9 max probably helps this out.

> The whole "Last Stand" and "Martyrdon" aspects of this game ADD to the cool factor. Just when you thought you killed someone, they lie there and can take you out with some pistol shots. Sounds lame at first, but it REALLY makes you start verifying your kills....to make SURE they're dead. Anything that adds spontaneity and unpredictability to this game is a plus.

> Up to 4 custom load outs you can save and use quickly is a cool idea, especially since you can name them yourself for quick referencing.

The bad:

> Thus far, there seems to be NO visible way to create a clan. It's as if you cannot HAVE a clan. You first have to reach a RANK that "allows" you to put a clan tag in front of your name......lame. Otherwise, there's no sense of solidarity in this game that you get from Socom.

> The lobbies are a little tricky to navigate, as it REALLY just seems like, in order to play in a room with your friends, they have to notice you online and "invite" you into the room. And, by that time, being 9v9, the room is usually full.

> The hit detection seems GOOD. However, I noticed some faltering in the sniping portion. Sure, many went down when I shot them, but it seemed like there were some targets that took three body shots from a sniper rifle to go down.

> Played NOTHING but respawns.....and as someone said above, in SOME of the maps, the respawn can work.....but I am seriously not a fan of respawn and I was disappointed to see that that's all there was in the 4+ hours I played in tonight.

> The FPS aspect......STILL trying to get the hang of that, though I believe it will just take some time. What I DID notice in this game with just FPS view is that there was a LOT less jumping ambushes from around corners than you see in SOCOM, where you can "see" around the corner at someone coming near you. I think this makes FPS a plus......but I still had to be conscious about the potential head ache creeping in on me from time to time.

I'm still playing it and still playing it with an evaluators mindset.

It will be an interesting week. I finished the night on level 11. One more level and I get to wear my clan tag.......sheesh.

The lack of CLAN SUPPORT REALLY irks me, though. To no end.

And that's what I got for now.

Nice report..

My 2 cents:

Try to stick to the "Team Hardcore" you will be much more satisfied.. it keeps the noisy kids out & the serious people in.! (not sure when it gets unlocked but anyone can play in the room, you just cant start the room.)

Also, I heard that they were going to release some clan stuff for download later. (no idea where i heard it, just cant remember)

Wars will HAVE to be played in "Private match" you can set maps, re-spawns, timers for almost anything..! Timers for how long it takes to plant, how long the countdown is till explosion.

Re-spawns on or off, & how many times you can re-spawn.!!

TONS of other settings that you would never think of having the option to set.!

I got 14+ hours in already, & am Lvl 27, "2nd Lieutenant" (butter stick ..lol)

It does take some getting used to, but lets face it people aren't retarded ..lol

"Adapt & Overcome" ;D

PS.

The ONLY people voting - "I will not even be playing this game" are people that don't have a 360 or PS3.

Which i understand is still an issue as far as UF goes, but im pretty sure it wouldn't have anything to do with the game ;D

You have to use your website and then your PS3's friends list for your roster of members. You can put any tag in front of your name. But lets say I put one of you alls tag on I can't find you at all unless I am on your friends list on the PS3. I don't like the fact that you can join one of your friends in a game they are already in. But then on a normal night we usually only have 5 to 6 guys on as it is. Sometimes we load up the rooms but the game will still find us up to a 18 player room.

Ranking is fairly cool if you think about it this way. You play in the normal rooms for practice and to get better at the XP points. The more advanced you get the better for you and your clan. So when you go into a War with another clan it's not about you ranking up. It's about victory for your clan. And that's when you put your XP points to use.

The Clan support is there you just have to understand it better. I want to place a wager that the next Socom is simular to this way.

I don't understand how you can say this, though.

There is NO clan support in CoD4 thus far.

Just a bunch of friends on PSN friends lists.....but not an ACTUAL group roster for CoD4 online.

I don't know....it just REALLY takes away the group solidarity aspect that makes the portion of group play in Socom so cool. I don't know why it WOULDN'T be in there, unless CoD4 is making a conscious effort in saying "you don't NEED groups and clans." Well, I know a LOT of people (especially from the Socom vein) that really enjoy the aspect of a clan "home" in the game, and that usually translates to a team ROSTER.

Damn, I new it.  With no responses I new it sounded fishy.  If there is no strategic part to the game I will not buy it.  I will stick to EA for now.  Smoke said there was a map that did not have respawn So which is it?  I think this is going to be like R6.  Good game offline, but on line respawn, respawn, respawn.  I have never liked it and really don't care for it on Socom either.

Good review there Tow.

There are definitely rooms where there is no respawn.

We just haven't tried em yet to give any type of critique on them.

Part of the problem is that you need a certain rank before all the room types are available for use. Once we get more people on with the proper rank I am sure that more than a few of us will have a better idea on what they are like.

The only real difference is .... ... , & the leader doesn't have control of the tag.

Well that's a actually a HUGE difference and a detriment. It's also one of the main reasons Vegas was passed on.

Control of clan tags is a clear factor, the main issue here is the integrity to which Urgent Fury clans play and value. Do you know if players can give themselves a tag regardless of if it's already in use or not? If so imagine the ability of anyone to wear your clans tag and act like a pinhead while doing so. Something we need to look closer at I presume.

So far I've not jumped into an online public match. I like doing some of the single play, tinkering with settings , than some map walks on Lan, (note you have all maps, weapons and game modes available in LAN and do not need another player to walk the maps in LAN) and finally some one on one with a friend testing the online game play and types out first before plunging in.

This is just my a short grade type assessment and will more than likely change dramatically and be more detailed but so far..

Graphics, sound and definition. A+

Controller adjustments and sensitivity B-

Map Types. A

Game Modes. B-

Character Control. C

Online Play C+

Community Use. D

Again I just got this last night and to be fair have only got about six hours in it so far.

They can have your clan Tag but they can't play with you unless they are on your friends list and even if they are you have to invite them to play. And your able to kick people out of the party.

I know kind of sucks but can still work around.

I like the game but just how they did the clan kind of sucks. I would also just like to join a game that my friends are in without having to hope someone thinks to invite me. Sometimes I'm late.

Right.

It doesn't even FEEL like a clan when online CoD4.

Getting into a match ONLY by invite is a PAIN in the ass.

And this is a REAL pisser......but tonight APC ran into FOUR maps in a row, against different opponents, where people would come in, and then abort the entire game right after the first kill, depending on whether or not it's their lead or not, simply to gain the points quickly. Talk about FRUSTRATING.

The CoD4 lobby is NOT user friendly, and I believe I can make that fair assessment after only two days.

The game play is intense and fun.....but there are some things detracting from that fun right now.

Continuing to play it though...........

It's NOT Socom..........

I don't see any hurdle that can't be jumped bringing this game to the UF. Would it be better with a clan system? Absolutely..... Would it be better if you had lobbies that worked perfectly? Absolutely.....

I know its hard as hell to do so but you have to let go "comparing" every game to what Socom used to be. Socom2 was ahead of its time in how the lobby was set up. I agree.....

Call of Duty4 is a GREAT Call of Duty4 game. Simple as that.....

I would like to see something done here with it. For the first time in a LONG time the "buzz" is back for online gaming in my group. We need something until Conformation drops.......

The only major issue i have found in this game so far is it doesnt seem to be able to handle the full 9v9.

I have a party of 8 going around and about 65% of the time the games ends early do to the host or is extremely laggy. Anything 12v12 and under works just fine. But the close quarters matches in high numbers do not work well and the party feature cannot seem to keep all of our players when we move from room to lobby.

I love the intense game play, and i feel the controls and character movements are smoother then any other FPS i have found. The modes are all great including sabotage and domination.

I have very few gripes about this game besides the non-clan feature and the things mentioned above. But if you are going to make a game for 9v9 i believe it should be able to handle what it is marketed for.
