I'm kind of confused on how this all works, The Crucible is like a evaluation for the CoD4 tournament. So everyone puts in their applications to join the crucible, but not all clans are accepted? And even if you are invited to play in the crucible its just an evaluation its not a guarnteed spot in the actual tournament? Is this all correct ?

From My short Time here in UF I believe that Ultimately you are correct. But I believe it all depends on the Amount of Clans required for the Future Tac-Map Tourney. If it is less than 16 than no...Not all Participants in the Crucible can be guaranteed a spot....Only the Winners of the Crucible. But in the Future, when there are more Crucibles and more Tac-map tourneys for CoD4, No it would be impossible to guarantee every clan a spot in the Tac-map tourney unless the required clans for the Tac-map tourney permits it. Does that answer your question?

The Crucible is the tournament. It is not our main Feature TAC-MAP scenario based tournament. It is an evaluation tournament in the fact that we are determining whether clans are mature enough to handle being in the UF community. We are not evaluating the tournament persay, even though this will be our first embarking to the next gen system. But mainly a chance for fresh new clans to come in and show us what they are made of. Plus it won't be the only Crucible. There will be many more to come.

If that answers any of your questions

Both BLACK and the CRUCIBLE are "evaluation" tourneys for Socom and CoD4 tacmap tourneys, respectively.

By "evaluation," we're not gauging your skill, per se, but rather your ability to conduct yourselves in the midst of all the other fine clans of this UF Community.  And as plain as it can be, 4-weeks spent in Black or Crucible trying to handle a less-than-desirable clan is MUCH easier on the head for UF Staff and UF Community players than it is to handle that same clan for 12-weeks in a TACMAP tourney.

Hence..."evaluation."

And BECAUSE this tournament evironment is "invitation-only," which quite a few people who come to UF like and want, it does run the risk of excluding clans sometimes.  Tacmap tourneys generally house more clans for a tour.  Typically over 20+.  It's UF's way of controlling the quality of clans found here gaming in our Community which, ultimately, means that YOU'RE getting the best environment for honest, respectful play than you can find anywhere else.

With our current hike in drafting more UF Staff for the tournament site, it also means that we're able to keep a better rotation for constant Black and Crucible mini-tourneys rolling, so that if you DO miss an invite to a tacmap tourney, you will still get some UF-quality tournament play in anyway.

And UF is always cognizant of trying to get EVERYONE a roll in a tacmap tourney, as we all kind of lovingly refer to as "the Big Game."  SO I wouldn't put too much worry into it.

The best thing a clan can do in this Community if hoping to get accepted into a Tacmap tourney for either Socom or CoD4 is to enter into one of the evaluation tourneys and play it up with honor, dignity and respect.  Some get that, some don't.  The ones that do will find a long and enduring home here in UF.

The ones that don't quickly find the door back to the other tourney sites that better cater to their brash and sometimes-childish behavior.

Thus far, with the opinions we receive from those in the UF Community, we know we're doing something right.  Now what we're attempting to do is do that "something right" with more of a rotation aspect so that there is ALWAYS action going on here for as many clans as possible.  What we DON'T want is to get TOO big TOO fast.  "Quality" has always been our #1 focus.

i have a question...does anyone else see a LOT of wars being forfieted due to an incidental grenade toss, or does someone know how to get rid of frag grenades on COD4.

It's just called "discipline."

Clans tend to need this when involved in UF..... ;)

If you don't have it, you either won't last long, or the length of your stay won't be an entirely enjoyable one.

Its called buying a new controller and removing the R2 button

No its called.. "DON'T HIT the R2 Button..!!" :-*

Just the same as any game.. Socom & RainbowSix both have a button to throw grenades also.

Practice makes perfect. ;D

Or maybe since this is an evaluation tourney maybe grenades wont be allowed, as in UF: Black..!!??

I figured it was already in the rules, but since i don't have a PS3, I'm just a cheerleader for this one. (no need for me to know all of the details of the rules) ;D
