o-BacklasH-o Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 I know there is a large percentage of the UF community that likes to watch movies and there is nothing better than a review from our very own. This thread will help illustrate what movies are "now" and what movies may or may not have lived up to their hype. Please no spoilers in this thread! I'll get this started by recommending the film Cloverfield. This movie is filled with action and thrills and was an overall good movie. I'll go ahead and give this a 4/5 only because it is filmed in the "Blair Witch" fashion, in which the camera is shaky and supposed to be filmed from the narrators point of view. Has anyone seen the new Rambo and is it worth seeing? Quote
Guest [+30]PuddyTat Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 a movie that i highly recommend to anyone that has not seen it is The Game Plan with the Rock. i thought it was going to be a pretty gay flick, but i actualy kind of enjoyed it. its pretty funny, and anybody that likes kids will love the little girl who stars in it. Quote
Chili327 Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 You mean like "likes kids" ..lol Puddy, did you just recommend a movie that you "kind of enjoyed"..? Not a new one, but i recently saw "The Prestige" GREAT Movie..!! It's is about Magic & Magicians.. & their dedication to the craft, great twist on the reality of it. (Takes place in the early 1900's) Sorry for all the "" but they all seemed necessary Quote
chris_pheonix7 Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 ye i saw rambo and i recommend seeing it just because of rambos "teammate" whos got a 50 cal sniper and never misses... u can fill in the rest Quote
SOTG Savage Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 I went to go see Meet the Spartans today but everyone who was leaving the theatre said it blew balls, so I watched Cloverfield and was thoroughly impressed. Dub Quote
Chili327 Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 Of course it blew balls, but that's what you should expect for that kind of movie.. Ever since Airplane i have been a fan of that type.. The Naked Gun was one of my favorites.. (we used to smoke in the theater, because it was empty & no one else would be there to watch the movie ..lol) I love them ;D Quote
Guest Corruptor310 Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 DRAGON WARS ----- I recommend you dont watch it, I dont recommend you get wasted on your thing of choice and watch it. Do not rent ------------ too bad to put into words -- worse than most movies on sci-fi. The worst movie I have seen this year. Do watch -- Sweeney Todd Do watch -- No County for Old Men Do watch -- Walk Hard Quote
Pathogen- Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 I recommend..to those that opt for a more intelligent approach to movies than "Rambo"... Sunlight Gone Baby Gone 3:10 to Huma Quote
Guest Stealthknight Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 I would Definitely recommend Sweeney Todd. The acting and Singing is excellent as Johnny Depp pulls of an awsome performance as Sweeney Todd. He is known for playing strange roles (Most of which i didnt care for) but this one was definitely done right and Tim Burton should be proud of how this movie came out. It has multiple plots that come together while maintaining a decent amount of suspense. I actually enjoyed the fact that it was a musical and still have some of the songs in my head. Watched it once in theaters and twice at home. Great movie with excellent acting. Quote
[RIP]saint52 Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 I hate musicals...so I hated Sweeney Tod...the cinematography was awesome.....but everytime an actor breaks into song it kills me....Yes I know some people luv it, I just cant bring myself to.....But all in all it was a great adaptation..... Guest SuddenRedScare Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 Pathogen- ]I recommend..to those that opt for a more intelligent approach to movies than "Rambo"... When I go see a movie, I'm not looking to come out a theater a better more competent person, I'm looking to see someones head get blown clean off their shoulders... and Rambo delivers in that department. Quote
-Rooster- Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 Does rambo use a walker or do they just prop him up now a days? Quote
SnowBud Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 LOL Hey I thought there's supposed to be no spoilers Quote
STREETSWEEPR1 Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 pddy i disagree with the one you said but it is a family (disney).i think those movies are corny but you are right about the family type movie.. i have got blockbuster online and before that had freinds at movie stores. so i would get the new releases on friday instead of teusday i've seen just about every movie that has been released minus most of the chick flicks. i probally watch 9-12 movies a week..if you need a reveiw i'm your guy...i like aot of movies too .it is probally one of my favorite things to do is watch movies , smoke a fatty and throw in a movie....untill summer then its out side i go but if you need a good movie to watch try four brothers or kevin bacons new movie that is a good one.. running scared is a good one ..derailed.. i could go on for hours literally...the protecter and ong bak are some good martial art movies the guy is crazy....all right gotta go Quote
Pathogen- Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 I'll agree with you Streetsweeper... Kevin Bacon in Death Sentence is a haunting performance..great flick and, i'm almost ashamed to admit it, I liked Paul Walker (the dumbest actor ever) in Running Scared Derailed is a good flick, too Quote
C_A_G_E Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 Stardust - Wife wanted to watch it and i was suprised by how good it was. Quote
Guest SaTAnS_SoUlJa Posted January 30, 2008 Report Posted January 30, 2008 that dragon force movie i heard was so stupid it was hilarious....they were in a helicopter and a dragon started climbin up a buildin and they yelled "Code 3! Code 3!"....lmao as if in the US Army here is a code JUS IN CASE a dragon pops up outta nowhere...thats so funny to me lol Quote
STREETSWEEPR1 Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 yup stardust was a strange one :-\ Quote
Guest Stealthknight Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 No this is a surprise to me. When the movie "The Number 23" came out it got bad reviews and i was told it wasnt very good. Well I ran out of new movies to watch since ive seen almost every decent movie in theaters so I got it and was actually impressed. For a serious role I thought Jim Carry actually did a decent job and the plot actually kept me intrigues the entire movie. I would definetly recommend seeing it along with Mr. Brooks. Both good movies in my opinion if you like psychotic suspense drama's. Quote
Guest Corruptor310 Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 .APOCALYP5E. ]that dragon force movie i heard was so stupid it was hilarious....they were in a helicopter and a dragon started climbin up a buildin and they yelled "Code 3! I was like thank god, this movie is horrible. Quote
[RIP]saint52 Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 I thought 23 was going to be good and it really sucked........I liked Jim C performance but the story line was crap. Quote
