Since the bashing of police threads seem to be growing in number and an avenue for some of you to voice your distrust, and in some cases hatred of the police, either due to you always being on the wrong side of the law or simply due to you being weak minded enough to jump on any band wagon the "COOL" people are on, I thought I would start a thread that shows you the good that cops do on a daily basis as well.

Now I've read several times, and I mean several, that there are good cops too. Yet we continue to see threads showing videos involving police and suspects that then lead to opinions by many of you without one of you knowing anymore than what you see. It seems as though some of you are still upset that you were told to turn your music down, or given a ticket, or had your pot taken away by those "PIGS". Grow up. Stop breaking the law and start doing as your told to do when your told to do it. Keep this in mind: You don't have the right to resist arrest. Not even a little bit.

I don't offend easily. But the constant bashing of the men and women who put their lives on the line every time they put that uniform on, so that you can sit safely in your home on your computer and pass judgement on situations you know nothing about is really irritating me. I have seen mentions of political candidates get hushed quicker than this. So since these cop bashing threads are going to be allowed to continue, I feel its only right to help inform you uninformed of the great things cops do to protect and save lives. All lives. Maybe even your life someday.

Being a cop is a thankless job. If, today, you didn't get hit by a speeding motorist, beat up, robbed, raped, knifed, shot, murdered, etc thank a cop.

And if you're one of the quite few who has read the police bashing threads and are fed up with it reply to this. I'd hate to believe that the majority of this community are cop haters.

Snake I read the first story but to be honest your gonna lose half your audience.

Why, because besides all the other BS we have to read on here including your long intro, these are all news articles. Not saying your intro is BS, because quite frankly I would rather not see another hate story go up. Getting old but you get sucked into the drama of reading everything.

SO FIND SOME VIDEOS. ;)

That is the problem with todays society. Cops (to the untrained eye) screwing up is more entertaining than cops doing good. Fucking youtube is littered with tons of vids titles "Police Brutality", but good luck on a search of vids if you put in cops doing good.

Posted

To be honest War-Do6 if I could've found videos I would've put them up. But like Irish said, the bad videos are more entertaining so good videos are hard to come by.

If I run across any good videos I will make sure t post them up too.

That first article hit the nail on the head with the life of the police officer too. You know, people will see a video or read an article about a suspect with a knife being shot and wonder why they had to be shot. What they dont know is that someone who is trained in how to handle a knife can close the gap of 20 ft in the time it takes an officer to draw his weapon, and thats without throwing the knife.

If someone were to have a weapon of any kind we're not going to "wait and see" what they intend to do with it. If they come at us or you with that weapon we have a fraction of a second to decide what we're going to do. And as stated in another thread, if it comes down to me or you, I'm going home to my family.

Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

"start doing as your told to do when your told to do it"

^^^That right there, is the mentality that I'm talking about! Who they HELL do you guys think you are to tell us what to do, and when to do it? We are NOT your puppets to control, or slaves to order around and beat on. And to be honest, I don't think I'm cool, nor do I break the LAW EVER! but in your mind I have to be "weak minded" or want to be on the "COOL" side to voice my opinion?

I said many times in my threads that I respect the "GOOD" COPS.....and how many times do I have to say, that I simply believe that cops should go through "ANGER MANAGEMENT" before they are allowed to be police officers. And that I think that the "Text book" that you guys so often refer too, should be re-evaluated.

You also say "not knowing anymore than what you see" Well....sorry bro my "eyes" don't lie to me, and I have believed them ALL my life.

I'm NOT bashing COPS bro, just showing what I've seen........and lets be honest here, you say your don't get easily irritated, and all I have posted, is 4 videos threads of "you be the judge" 3 of which where cop situations, and one about a singer. So you are irritated by that? Man what would you do to me if I was to voice my opinion to you it in person? Beat me with a billy club?...LOL

Oh and by the way I'm am "grown up" I'm almost 40 years old, and because I don't see the world through "COPS" eyes, I'm not a grown up? Come on man, anyways.....good luck with your JOB, and I hope you stay safe out there.

Well HAVOC you may want to re-read your threads then including the first post of this thread. Once you do that you'll see that I never called you out personally. I spoke to all the comments and those who posted them in general. If you're going to take personal offense to everything I said then thats up to you. But I'm sure once you re-read things you'll see not everything I said in this thread refered to you.

Your first sentence has me speechless. I mean seriously? I dont even know where to start with that one. And you dont ever break the law? You dont speed? Not even 1 mph over the speed limit? You have never ran a red light? You never drank before you were 21? And as far your comment, "...sorry bros my "eyes" dont lie to me...", in reference to my comment about seeing videos and passing judgement; Did you personally film those videos? If not, how can you say that what you are seeing is the entire story? You cant. What you are seeing is a section of a longer video. Also, its obvious you dont see the world through cops eyes. But to be honest with you after reading that first sentence I'm not sure I would understand who's eyes you do view the world through. Cops arent perfect. If you're looking for the police to be made up of perfect people its never going to happen.

Thank you for the concer over my safety. You can rest assured that I will always stay safe out there. You stay safe out there as well. There are a lot of bad people out there looking to do bad things to good people.

BTW - On a personal note, I dont beat people up for having differing opinions than me. And I dont carry a billy club.

1. And you dont ever break the law? You dont speed? Not even 1 mph over the speed limit? You have never ran a red light? You never drank before you were 21?

3Of course I did in my younger days, the comment was made on serious offenses, not minor traffic violations. of a PI situation.

2. And as far your comment, "...sorry bros my "eyes" dont lie to me...", in reference to my comment about seeing videos and passing judgement; Did you personally film those videos? Of course I didn't video tape it myself, but someone in the PUBLIC did, I have witnesses police brutality several times in person, but to the police its "Text Book" actions they take. Take a long hard look at reality, there are probably 50-1 or maybe even 100-1 videos of cops doing bad shit to people, compared to cops doing a good thing to people. And trust me man...I know that the cops are right in some cases, and have to think about there safety first. But that is a HELL of allot of video, for it all to be BS.

3. Also, its obvious you dont see the world through cops eyes. But to be honest with you after reading that first sentence I'm not sure I would understand who's eyes you do view the world through.

You know whose "eyes" I see the world through.....MY OWN! as a individual person that has rights, and freedom of speech. If i wanted to be told what to do and when to do it, i would go live in North Korea.

4. Cops arent perfect. If you're looking for the police to be made up of perfect people its never going to happen.

No I know they are NOT perfect, as a matter of fact i think there far from it. BUT! some ANGER MANAGEMENT courses, would not hurt them be better cops. JMO

5. Thank you for the concer over my safety. You can rest assured that I will always stay safe out there. You stay safe out there as well. There are a lot of bad people out there looking to do bad things to good people.

Your welcome, and I agree, there are MANY bad people out there doing horrible things to people, and I thank "GOOD COPS" for doing their job. But that still doesn't give them the right to be above the law in certain situations. also JMO

5. BTW - On a personal note, I dont beat people up for having differing opinions than me. And I dont carry a billy club.

So I guess you would just tazer me.

Oh and one more thing bro....trust me! I have these arguments with my COP and SHERIFF friends all the time. And they come over almost every weekend, so imagine what they must think of me?.....LOL it must be the free POT that keeps them coming back. ;D

Ohh jesus....lol.....everyone relax.....there will always be people that have issues with cops, just the nature of the beast...these people will be the same ones asking for help when they need it.....There are also bad cops out there, just like bad priests, bad doctors, bad lawyers, cheaters in socom ect.......But I have seen what cops go through so bless them and I have also seen a kid that wanted nothing to do with cops, scream for them when he was surronded at a party by 17 guys ;D

Yeah thanks,

The way I see it fighter pilots and cops are kinda the same (as far as personalities). They both put their ass on the line and they have to be a little cocky and overconfident to survive. Just like anyone in a position of power though, it can be abused. However small of a minority or infraction in the end the police work for us (city, county or state) and as such when something inappropriate is done it is made a big deal- As I feel it should be. On the flip side they dont get the recognition they should- So my thanks.

okay, here we go. ;) honestly, cops dont get the respect they deserve, a pothead/lawyer/junkie saying this here. we make songs, we make donut jokes, but irish is right and snake are right, we say fuck em when we dont need em. but when you're getting mugged, they're your best friends. and IMO bad cops will get what they have coming to them. karma's a bitch, wether you like it or not.

3/4 of Cops don't even hold a degree of any type other than their Police Academy diploma ::), IMHO there are a lot of dumb asses out there that are cops. Not saying that they all are, as I believe the good cops have a decent amount of intelligence, common sense, and some do hold degrees of some sort. Not saying that all the retarded "I'm Billy "the Law" Bad ass, deal with it" cops don't have degrees. But it appears to me that there are a lot of crooked ass bad cops and they FAR exceed the intelligent ones.

Is there a direct correlation? I DO believe so. Why? Because just about anybody can become a cop. I can go become a cop myself (I have a degree), but I don't want to because my dream after finishing my Masters is to go to Law School so I can prosecute asshole criminals.

All I'm saying is that if there were stricter requirements on becoming a cop, there probably wouldn't be so many bad apples amongst the few good apples.

No offense D75 but many professions held by people of older age don't possess a degree of any sort. I had high school teachers, and now a few college professors that don't have a degree at all. My father doesn't hold any type of college degree and he pulls down close to 60k a year, which isn't too shabby if you ask me. My mom has her degree and she's doing work that doesn't really require it, but she also has two jobs.

So your whole basis of cops are dumb because they don't have college degrees or they only hold the academy diploma isn't saying much. I'm working on a 4-year degree for Law Enforcement and after that spending another year in an academy or tech school learning the hands on stuff.

Times are changing bro, once the old "dumb" cops get their pensions you'll start to see (as we already are seeing) more cops entering the field with 4-year + MD's coming out to take their positions.

I'm gonna agree with RNG when he said that we all bitch and make fun of cops until the moment when we need them.. then they're our best friends. Regardless of how you've been treated by police officers in whatever part of this country your in.. you should still have the respect for the men and women who swear thier lives upon protecting you and your coommunity.

Also.. the taser comment made me laugh, because officers are trained to not fight fairly. They are trained to use whatever force they feel (DISCRETION) is necessary in order to diffuse the situation and take control of it as fast as possible. Normally it's a step higher on the use of force continuum... so.. you come at me with your fist.. I use my "billy club".. you come at with me with some type of weapon.. I use my taser or my gun.. you get the point I'm sure.

Either way I agree with the point of this thread being posted. I'm tired of watching news agencies and our general public bash the hell out of the same men and women who assist in providing their freedom/safety to allow them to do so. It truly is a thankless job.

Posted

I do agree with news agencies making the image of cops worse than what it already is/may be.

But yes the older cops don't have degrees, wasn't as necessary back then. Now in today's world where parents take less and less effort in the HAND'S ON part of their child's upbringing I believe it should be MUCH more necessary.

I do believe my argument holds validity, it doesn't have to be precisely true to be true enough to make the difference.

Good cops hate bad cops even more than the public. Its because of them that all cops are seen as bad.

Would you like to know why college degrees are not required any more?

Here it is:

UNCLE-SID25 ]

Increase the requirements and pay police...more money.

Increasing the requirements would force departments and ultimately the tax payers to pay out more money. There is another reason too but I'm not going to discuss it in these forums. I'm sure its effected your department too Irish.

increasing the requirements wouldn't cause departments to put out more money other than in Salary, which is directly related to having a degree

the education requirements would be the responsibility of the individual who wants to be an officer and there would be no reimbursement
