Epidemic Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Sony is the best computer I have bought to date....I'm sure there are some who will say different but in my experience, sony has been the best. reaper Quote
Red0ctobeR Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 DELL XPS410 By far the easiest to upgrade and the cheapest o upgrade. Of course right now it offers a 250 MB HDD and al the other pickens you would come to enjoy in a peripheral that is made to do multiple functions at once. Of course they offer vista. Of course any dell desktop is made to be easily upgradeable, but XPS is made to handle a lot of stuff. Good luck Quote
GOAT Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 I'm sorry to disagree with ya RedOct, cause ya know I got's mad/luv 4 ya but Dell's SUCK!! yea they are easily upgraded "by DELL" since everything in it is Dell only and only Dell parts fit the dayam thing.. right down to their case and power supply which yea you guessed it only fits a DELL. Get's me how a guy that took parts from every different manufacturer he could find and then slapped them all together into a box and stuck a DELL sticker on it has the nerve to make his computer such that only Dell parts fit it!!! pfft. As for Sony, yea their video media systems do rock but you pay out the nose for them... Bottom line BUILD IT YOURSELF! look in the yellow pages for a computer parts store (preferably near any college campus in your area and go buy a mother board, processor, package along with the case of your choice, the hard drive you need, Dvd , burner etc.. whatever you want, then buy a clean installation CD of Windows XP, Vista or your choice and just build the darn thing! you're going to get way more bang for your buck, you will have your own registered copy of Windows and not some lame RECOVERY disk that simply loads all the crapola back on that you tried to get rid of since you bought it and you get the pride of building your own machine. They really are very easy to put together and set up. With a laptop, your pretty much stuck with buying one retail but for a desktop self building is the only way to fly... Quote
SHANE23 Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 I agree with GOAT - BUILD IT YOURSELF!!!!! Get a BAREBONES setup to start if you have to but piece it together and get the things you want cheaper. I put one together for my son - 3.4Ghz Pentium CPU w/ 4MB CACHE, cooling fan for CPU, Motherboard with built-in Gb NIC, 5.1 sound, then Case, Power Supply, 512RAM, 256MB PCIe Video Card for less then $250. already had the HDD, DVD DL-Burner, Monitor, mouse, keyboard and OS Quote
SOTG Savage Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 I say buy an alienware desktop........your a doctor, you can afford it LOL Quote
DK_MaluNYMets Posted August 23, 2007 Author Report Posted August 23, 2007 I was actually thinkin about that... anyone from NY know any good computer parts store?..... If you build it wat about warranty stuff like that? Quote
SHANE23 Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 http://www.tigerdirect.com http://www.newegg.com Quote
Red0ctobeR Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 Say what you want guys. I love my Dell. And have never had a problem with it or the company. Though I do agree if you want something in particular building yourself is cool. But I have upgraded with parts outside of dell and been very successful. I guess having computer knowledge does help. ;D Quote
SOTG Zero Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 If you want a computer that has what you exactly want on the inside, build it yourself. You get the best deal, and its a good learning experience. If you don't wanna build it, go for a computer with.... Intel Core 2 Duo CPU alteast 1GB RAM around 180GB HDD Do you expect to do any gaming on it? If so, that changes everything... Definitely build it yourself then, lol. Quote
DK_MaluNYMets Posted August 23, 2007 Author Report Posted August 23, 2007 Yeah def gaming.... To the Dell battle... ive had a Dell Laptop for 3 years had NO ISSUES wat so ever with it.. unless the time i accidently spilled milk all over it.... but even with that they came the next day and changed the motherboard and everything in it... But its true they use CHEAP parts inside the computer.... so i wanted to get something more better... with high quality parts Quote
SOTG Zero Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 If your gonna game on it, I would build it myself. Or if you don't care about saving money, just get an Alienware or Falcon Northwest. Quote
Guest [iLL] Andawg Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 New iMacs are the shit! Quote
forest42 Posted August 23, 2007 Report Posted August 23, 2007 get a mac play video games on your playstation Quote
Guest [+30]PuddyTat Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 if you want to build it yourself, newegg is the place to go. for an awesome custom build, http://www.digitalstormonline.com call em and talk to them. they have been awesome to deal with since i bought mine, and i just ordered another from them. Guest H.A.V.0.C Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 I just built my first one, and I am building my second now and I can tell you now...BUILD YOUR OWN!!! its VERY EASY and you dont get all the other BS software on it that these companies put on their Computers. I built a computer that is 4G RAM, Intel Quad core processor. XFS 8600 graphics card that supports Tv out and 2 monitor hook up. Asus striker extreme Motherboard and a thermaltake Armor full case SLI certified + a 500W thermal take power supply I used a Samsung 500G hard drive. Anyways man, it was as simple as 123 once you get all the parts you need. I have never been so happy with any computer, and I built it all for around $800.00 and that was before the mail in rebates of $200.00 total making this powerful computer around $600.00 and change. Do your self a favor and BUILD ONE! trust me, if you need any help on building it let me know. Most of the parts I bought where from newegg.com <--- best place to shop for deals on parts. Quote
Guest H.A.V.0.C Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Better yet shit I can build you one if you want, and pay me. Instead of paying Dell or any of these other jackasses with there outrageous prices. Plus you get a year free of tech support...LOL Quote
SOTG Zero Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Is it really that easy to build your own? I have been researching it for awhile, but I just haven't had the money to get all the parts. Did you follow any instructions or anything? Quote
Guest H.A.V.0.C Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 I didn't follow instruction 1, once you get the case, motherboard and power supply all the rest falls right into place, I was just like everyone else, thinking damn.....they have got to be complicated to build, but I was Oh SOOOO wrong it is VERY! VERY! simple. Quote

I can't get angry at ya... you've been suffering enough as is it... Quote

Just pony up the extra couple dollars and get a Mac, and your worries will be over. Seriously, my desk top is almost 3 years old still cruises, and has NEVER CRASHED, or had glitch one. NOT ONCE in three years!!!! Quote
Red0ctobeR Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 I got a dimension that I upgraded to have the same power as an XPS. So basically I built my own .LOL I do like what you guys are talking about though. I have really never tried making one from scratch. Just upgraded old material. I will have to give that a try. And damn Havoc that is some serious hardware. Daddy likey. You use vista? I haven't tried it yet I just love XP way too much. Quote
Guest H.A.V.0.C Posted August 24, 2007 Report Posted August 24, 2007 Yeah I use vista, I have to admit I hated it when it first came out, because of its incomparability to any exiting software. BUT! it has come along way since it's initial release so I really enjoy in now. I just had to get past the first 6 months. And yes I hear mac's are cool if you can afford a $2500.00 for a good one. NOT ONCE in three years!!!! Freeware! I have only 1 program on my computer that costs money. Everything else is fee. For example, you want the Adobe Creative Suite, but you're broke.... Instead of Photoshop, use The Gimp. Instead of Adobe Acrobat, use Foxit PDF. Instead of Dreamweaver, use KompoZer.... I read this in an old CNet article. And.. Mac is great and all, very user-friendly. Vista is more open, but does have its security problems and everything else that Microsoft has sucked on. But if he wants to play PC Games, he is gonna have to build a PC. Unless he only wants to play chess and solitaire, lol. But the future is in Ubuntu!! lol. It's free, cool looking and runs great. It's my next OS. Quote
