  1. This is not the UF I remember. Its no longer a comunity but a business. Now that I'm on the outside looking in, it looks like UF is being used as a place for advertisements and a place to make a quick buck. It seems to no longer be a a place where a person from this comunity can feel that they can speak freely without fear of being ejected from the tournament. I don't blame people for not wanting to speak out, they have put a lot of time and effort into being here and playing in this tac map tourney. UF has gone from being a likeable baby, to a geedy corupt child and if it doesnt get its act together soon the only thing thats going to be left when its grown up is a 40 year old virgin thats still living in his moms basement, when they could have been that guy that got the girl and was the one that everyone liked. I'm saying all this because I feel no vaild points are being made against TNU, it was extreamly unfair to boot them out when none of thier tourneys are conflicting with yours right now, as they also stated they would not be around after Chosin has concluded. Therefore they would not be a conflict of interest in the future but healthy compition. It seems that the admins here do not have much faith in this comunity. It just seems from my point of view that you guys were looking for a way to get rid of a these guys for a while and unfortunatly you had to make up a rule to kicl them out. Great job. I'm sure there would have at least been a pull in the leaders section in the past where they would have got a fair chance in staying. (Didnt we have some council in the past made of players for this type of situation?) When did this place stop being a comunity run by the players and turned into a business run my a director? P.s the quote and this post was originaly posted in the TNU related thread in the Chosin forum witch was so conviently cleaned up soon after. I don't know where you have been for the last 4 years but this was NOT a place run by the players at anytime. Furthermore, you could NOT speak your mind freely here without fear of retribution before. It may be nice to write revisionist history to suit your needs but that doesn't make it true.(Let's not forget that TNU was kicked out by the previous admins for the same exact thing or did you forget that too) The admins of this site are definitely more genuine then the previous. Are they trying to generate revenue? Of course they are, they're trying to expand UF and it's offering. You can't do that without bringing some entrepreneur spirit into this organization. I have no doubt that once they can establish a base revenue stream that we will start to see the fruits of that income in the product they offer. While you and others may disagree with the choice they made to ban TNU and/or even the way they carried that action out, it was their first time dealing with a problem of this nature here. Was it controversial? Sure it was, I voiced my concern about it as well so I'm not on either side. TNU may have been doing something to hurt UF, if so some action should have been taken, the when, where and how is another story all together. At any rate I just couldn't let you mischaracterize what this place was and is now. As competitive gamers we're light years ahead from where we were before the new admins took over this site.
  2. Would anyone here say that the game now plays like Socom 2?
  3. Hell no that's koonts. Damn, this whole time I thought it was him...
  4. Is this not the same "Marine" that was the leader of SOTG?
  5. Never mind, the question was answered via aim.
  6. Is what they did different than what Chili runs with gamelobby? I'm just curious because TOU runs an internal game event called TOUrnaments, which we advertise for occasionally. It is isn't a TacMap but it is a tournament and have done mainly focused on sports titles, however we have done shooters in the past.
  7. I hadn't thought about that but you hit the nail on the head.
  8. That review is great and this game is going to blow!
  9. I thought it had crosshairs? I haven't played it very much but last night we put in a few hours on it. What we discovered is that if you have an attachment like an ACOG then the zoom is significantly greater. If you go with a red dot then it's only slightly more, however the ACOG was the one that I noticed it on the most. You get really see far when you have that equipped and I thought it worked really well. There isn't a precision style crosshair with a dot in the middle. Yeah your right about the zoom it does change depending on the scope your using. Zooming to an over the shoulder view is IW's way of making you "aim down the sight" like you have to in FP. I see what you're saying and yes I think it's more of an auto-aim system that it uses. Although it's slight it's definitely there which is something I hate. Overall I perform better in 1st person when I play MW2 but I still enjoy both. I like the diversity of both styles...

  11. I would have to say by the results of the poll, that the community leans towards the FPS aspect of the game. I would have to agree, the "mixed" votes seemed to taper off. At one point it was 19 to 13(not counting the dedicated 3rd person votes) but since then it's been all 1st person.
  12. Have you guys been able to successfully do this? I've tried twice and both times my PS3 goes to a black screen and locks up.
  13. Unless your the kind of person that enjoys arguing I don't know how anyone could come to any different conclusion. There are 2 votes for 3rd person exclusively and 9 for both in comparison to 18 for 1st person exclusively. Those numbers support what I've been saying all along. There is an interest in 3rd person , anyone would be a FOOL to expect for more people to want 3rd person. However for there to be more than half of the votes interested in both or exclusively for 3rd person says a lot about what people would want to see from an event on this game. Do these results mean that the UF community want a mixed event that offers both?
  14. That logic would apply if we were talking about a "game mode" but since we're discussing the perspective there is no other way to gather any data. Otherwise it would be impossible to substantiate Snow's claim either. well then in that case the debate is about FPS view vs TPS view and using your latest numbers: there ratio of FPS/TPS is : 179,001/ 4,192 since we are talking about perspective then there are 179,001 people playing FPS against only 4,192 playing TPS. i will go ahead and add that 179,000 beats the crap out of Socom's online players. When you compare the playlist categories that fall into the same party restrictions 3rd person is equal if not higher than those offerings. As far as Socom is concerned I don't know that the Confrontation numbers give an accurate comparison. I for one can't stand Socom Confrontation and only played it over the last few months so that TOU could participate in UF Black and to get us squared away for MW2.
  15. Did anyone think that there would be more 3rd person votes? That would be like expecting more people to vote for 1st person on a game like Socom. So far there are 11 votes for some some form of 3rd person, which is what I have been saying all along. There is a real interest in 3rd person but not exclusively, like I said before this games roots are in 1st person. To ONLY offer one style of event would be foolish for UF, GB or any other competitive arena. I was a little surprised but a few guys have told me they like it better than Socom but I think that's only because of the crappy camera angle in Confrontation. Personally I prefer 1st person on MW2 but I'd like to do both because it keeps me from getting bored. I would like to play 3rd person more but unfortunately party sizes don't allow for my specific group get into those games. Do the results of this poll mean that the UF community wants a mixed event that offers both 1st and 3rd person?
  16. That logic would apply if we were talking about a "game mode" but since we're discussing the perspective there is no other way to gather any data. Otherwise it would be impossible to substantiate Snow's claim either. The games roots are in FPS so I expect nothing less, I have not said at any point that I have the delusion that MORE people are playing 3rd person. Only that I believe there is strong interest in that perspective of gaming.
  17. I'm not doing anything to validate my point, the original statement was in reference to 3rd person modes. How can I not combine those? Are they not all the people that are interested in that perspective? It's like if someone said that Search & Destroy wasn't popular, wouldn't you combine all the numbers for S&D so that you can see how many people like some variation of that particular game mode? Who is twisting anything? It's really simple there are as many if not more people playing some variation of 3rd person as Sabotage, Demolition, Search & Destroy and Mosh consistently. I don't need to twist anything the numbers are right here in black and white. When Snow says "overwhelming majority" that makes me think that every other mode is far and away higher. And from what I can see so far it's the TDM modes and Ground War that are the "overwhelming majority". Anyway, it's now 10:24pm est and this is what I see: Total Online - 248815 Actually Playing - 183193 TDM - 65515 Merc TDM - 14217 FFA - 18275 Domination - 13709 GW - 17075 Demo - 4415 Sabotage - 3685 HQ Pro - 8170 S&D - 4708 CTF - 2977 3rd Person Tactical - 2488 3rd Person Cage - 1704 Combined 3rd Person - 4192 HC S&D - 2774 HC TDM - 8851 TDM Express - 8677 Most - 4009
  18. 5:30PM EST Total Players Online(not necessarily in-game) - 321120 Total Players in Playlist(in-game) - 240094 TDM - 88905 MERC TDM - 17205 Free For All - 25826 Ground War - 18621 Domination - 19308 Demo - 5945 Sabotage - 5289 HQ Pro - 12284 S&D - 7390 CTF - 3408 3rd Person Tactical & 3rd Person Cage - 5326 HC S&D - 4235 HC TDM - 11382 TDM Express - 9500 Mosh - 5470 When you look at the numbers for sabotage, demolition, capture the flag, Hardcore Search & Destroy, Mosh you can see that 3rd person although it's not in the realm of the Death Match modes it is right there with the rest of the mainstay. When you combine Death Match modes you can see that the only OVERWHELMING number from this is that people like to play that one mode over anything else. Maybe UF should just go with that and throw out all other modes as well? Anyway I'll make sure to put numbers up again tonight...I'm sure Crusty will love that.
  19. How can one be satisfied when the numbers you provided are not even total players actually playing? You're dealing with dummy numbers, you sound like a politician trying to misrepresent facts. Like I said in my last post I'll continue to provide COMPLETE numbers in the window that I mentioned. As for my argument being "weak" again you're only projecting because I checked you're numbers and not only is your sample based on bad data but you're defending it beyond logic. You do realize that the percentage that you spit out several posts ago included anyone online whether they're playing online or not. You also neglected to show the numbers for all the other modes to create a base measurement so you could get an idea of where things stack up. I'll keep posting the numbers I find, we shall see who has a weak argument after there is a weeks worth of data. Oh thank god someone who is smarter than all the rest of us is going to post the numbers. What a load off my shoulders I wasn't sure what I was going to do with all these numbers... Surely I was going to run out of fingers and toes before I figured it all out. Thank you covert I look forward to your mathematician style accounting of COD online player numbers. I can appreciate the sarcasm, I'm just doing what the original poster of these "facts" asked me to do. You can skip my posts Crusty, I'd hate to bore you....probably too late for that though.

  21. The numbers that you're providing here are only a snap shot of what is actually taking place. If you review the data in my above post you'll see how everything breaks down. Furthermore, you omitted the number of people that were NOT in a game but were in the "playlist menu". Your numbers are misleading because you're just lumping everyone that is online regardless of whether or not they are playing in a game. So hypothetically some of those people are waiting to jump in a 3rd person game mode. Again if you review the snap shot I provided you can see how 3rd person(combined) stacks up to all the other modes that are currently being played. Deathmatch related modes seems to be the most popular mode overall but after that the rest are very close. As I said in my previous post I'm going to monitor the data for the remainder of this week and post it here. I will be trying to get on around 10pm est which is when most UF events begin(9cst) and it gives a fair estimate of time for west coast gamers to get home from work and jump online. As for your "overwhelming" statement if the data that you posted is the reason why you felt that way then I feel a little better now. Your breakdown shows that your not trying to be deceiving, rather that you're confused about the numbers/data and how they work.
  22. Who's getting excited? And who isn't enjoying the game? This is a discussion, I don't see anything wrong with what is taking place here.
  23. Either do I, I have actually spent more time playing first person because we have had too many people on to play ranked 3rd person. I just think that it's great that there is an option to play different styles now. Other than MGO I can't remember a game that has had both setups. MGO was nice because you could play either way on the fly, it wasn't limited to specific rooms. Tonight will be my first night back online so I'll document some numbers and see what's what.
