Hardware sales in Japan have spiked across the board this past week, as the DSi and PlayStation Portable continue to slug it out for first place while maintaining a comfortable lead over home consoles.
Media Create data for the week ended November 23 reports that the DSi took the top spot with 88,843 units sold, followed by the PSP, which sold through 61,226 units compared to the previous week, where the handheld shifted 38,153.
Meanwhile, the Wii trumped home console sales with 35,298 units shifted followed by the DS Lite at 18,580. PlayStation 3 narrowly managed to outpace the Xbox 360, selling 17,436 units, compared to Microsoft’s effort of 15,474 units sold.
Chugging along in last place is the PlayStation 2, which appears to be losing its momentum in the region with just 5281 units sold.
