With Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War still weeks from release, Activision has whipped the camo off Call of Duty 6. The big reveal came at the company's Analyst Day conference, as reported by Shacknews. In news which will delight fans of the fourth Call of Duty - which still commands a huge PSN following - Infinity Ward is at the wheel again this time round. There's been a bit of a kerfuffle over the release schedule though, with Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith declaring "in 2009, we expect Infinity Ward to deliver another [entry of] ground-breaking quality, Call of Duty 6," at the start of the presentation, but later commenting "for calendar year 2010, Infinity Ward is already at work on the next installment in the franchise."

According to various online reports, Sony's "Life With Playstation" had gone live and was available to download. The reports were right, but not for long. The update was removed from the network soon after it had appeared. "Today, while testing the application, Life with Playstation was available for download temporarily, by mistake." For those of you who don't know, Life with Playstation provides dynamic web-based content organized into unique channels that can be browsed by time and location. While you browse any channel, your PS3 contributes to Folding@Home.

Purchasing items from the Playstation Store just got a whole lot easier for those of you without access to credit, as Sony has finally gotten around to shipping Playstation 'Entertainment Cards' to stores throughout the US. Initially available in in USD 20 and USD 50 denominations, the cards are currently available at branches of Blockbuster, but will soon be spreading out to the usual variety of retail outlets. Each card contains a simple scratch-code to enter into the account management section of your PS3, with funding available immediately afterwards. Perfect timing for the upcoming release of WipEout HD, if that takes your fancy. No word on European or worldwide release yet.
