Hi PlayStation.Blog! I’m Tanya, the lead designer of Moon Hunters. Moon Hunters is coming to PS4 and PS Vita in late 2015, all thanks to our amazing community supporting on Kickstarter. The campaign has been going even better than we hoped, and if you’re one of our backers, I really hope I can find you and give you a backer hug as soon as possible. If you haven’t heard of Moon Hunters, it’s a 1-to-4-player, mythology-building action RPG. Set in a fantastical ancient Mesopotamia, you play as one of the heroes trying to figure out what’s happened to the all-powerful Moon, which has gone missing. Along the way, you journey through a world that’s different every time, and make decisions that show your personality. Your personality traits determine your reputation, but also how you’re remembered in legend after you’re gone. If you’re truly memorable, you might even become a symbol of heroism as a constellation in the night sky, visible in all future playthroughs. It’s a relatively short game for just one play-through, just one to three hours, but the world is randomly generated and you’ll need to try it a few times in a few different ways to unlock all of the character classes, tribes, and biomes. If you play alone, you’ll be just one hero, out on your own in a dangerous world. But you can bring up to three friends to adventure together, fighting monsters and figuring out what’s going on with the cult of the evil Sun. We only have a little bit of time left, but I’m personally hoping we reach the $170k stretch goal, which will allow us to turn one of my favorite character designs (a Sun Cultist) into a playable character. He’ll be a bit of a bad-guy anti-hero kind of protagonist, which is always fun. If we don’t reach it, he’ll probably still be an interesting enemy to fight… Kitfox Games is a little indie team of four here in Montreal, Canada, and we originally came up with Moon Hunters as the pitch of our dream game to the Square Enix Collective, almost a year ago now. We’re really glad the internet seems to be as excited about it as we are, so we feel safe pouring our heart and soul into it for next year! We have a few limited-edition backer rewards available only through Kickstarter, so please do chip in if the game interests you, and/or join our newsletter. I promise we’ll put your funds and enthusiasm to excellent use as we develop the game! Thanks for reading! View the full article

So, its finally here — the moment that we can announce that since February this year, the skate crew here at Roll7 have been working night and day on what we think is the most epic skate game ever! OlliOll2: Welcome to Olliwood will hit PS4 and PS Vita in 2015! A sequel, you say? Why, OlliOlli has only just come out! Well, actually we finished on the core of OlliOlli in late September 2013 — which seems like a LONG time ago now… We were exhausted and somewhat broken — but we had learned a whole load about both OlliOlli AND PlayStation development as a whole. At the end of the project, John (our creative Director) excitedly sat us down with a vision for a sequel, something that had been lighting up in his brain ever since we locked features for the original. The main thrust of his plan was that we needed to expand meaningfully on our (since much praised) combo system, create a far more powerful level editor (to allow for more bodacious level design) and to unify the whole experience in a themed OlliOlli universe. We pitched the idea to PlayStation in London, who, on blind faith in the original (it hadn’t come out yet!) jumped at the chance to bring the game to PSN. OlliOlli was then a monster indie hit for us on PS Vita and now on PS4 and PS3, and as we watched the reviews and playthroughs come in — we relished in building our new OlliOlli engine and coming up with Olliwood. Our iconic skater is going all green-screen and will be getting radical at Olliwood Studios, plucking him from the street and dropping him squarely in the middle of the Silver Screen’s most radical cinematic locations. Most of the Roll7 team are children of the 80′s, so we’re digging into our movie memory to create the most badass stages for players to grind through (excuse the pun). So whats new for players? Gameplay will be massively enhanced with the addition of Ramps, Jumps, and Epic Hills allowing for monster air and split-level routes. The combo system is set to be EVEN deeper, through the joy of Manuals, Reverts, Revert Manuals, and Grind Switching. Our crew at Roll7 HQ in New Cross are even updating the hallowed “Tricktionary†with new specials including 540 Shuvits, Anti-Casper Flips, and Darkslides to name but a few. To accommodate the sheer volume of action, the skater and his pixelated world are being given a stunning new art makeover, with clean lines, gorgeous new backgrounds, and uber detailed trick animations (More than 9,000 EXTRA frames of hand drawn goodness!) On top of all of this — we are super hyped to announce a whole new mode; Combo Rush. This is a split-screen Local Multiplayer (up to 4 players) that pits players in a race to ramp up big scores on a spot in a set time limit. The team is deep in the juju at the moment making the magic happen and fighting each other with bare knuckles over every tiny detail (as we did last year) in order to bring precision goodness to all the PlayStation peeps out there! Watch this space for development announcements from the team over the coming months. View the full article

Hi PlayStation.Blog readers, Olga here from Frogwares! As we are nearing launch, we would like to introduce our launch trailer for Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments coming to PS4 and PS3 on September 30th. Get ready to be taken on a journey through Holmes’ famous skills! It’s now your turn to truly become Sherlock Holmes and lead your own investigation — actually, your investigations (Plural!) — as 6 captivating cases await you! Murders, disappearances, spectacular thefts, and other investigations will bring you to the cutting edge of the detective genre and these cases will be the bread and butter of this game, written in the pure tradition of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s novels. Each case offers real freedom to players, who will have to make important moral choices instead of simply enforcing justice by the book. All decisions have an influence in the game and affect your character’s reputation in addition to having realistic, sometimes unexpected, consequences. You will have to bear the weight of your choices, as Crimes and Punishments offers an exciting system of actions/consequences that forces players to think before acting by giving true depth to every decision they make. In Crimes and Punishments, players will embody Sherlock Holmes with a brand new look. Developers at Frogwares have abandoned the classic Sherlock Holmes inspired by the 60′s Sherlock movies, replacing him with a more modern character perfectly matching the new artistic ambitions of the title. I hope you enjoyed the trailer, and hope you enjoy the game! View the full article

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, which launches September 30th on PS4, wastes no time in revealing the blood-curdling tragedy that befalls Talion, a Ranger of the Black Gate. Having witnessed the death of his wife and son, his own life is ended by a cloaked agent of Sauron, who whispers dark words beneath a lashing of rain and then cuts his throat. But Talion is not afforded the luxury of death. A wraith from the world of shadow returns him from the dead to seek vengeance on Sauron’s forces. And just minutes after Talion’s first troubled steps back onto Middle-earth, the land of Mordor opens up into a breath-taking gallery of missions, power struggles, and awe-inspiring magic. With just days to go before Shadow of Mordor launches, let’s take a look at some things you might not know about this open-world action RPG set in one of the most iconic fantasy worlds in history. 1.) Explore an Open-world at Your LeisureAfter the introduction of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Talion and the wraith are set loose to rain death and destruction down upon Sauron’s forces. Story missions are highlighted in gold on the map, and you can undertake those challenges at your leisure. But Shadow of Mordor invites you to explore, take your time, and select the activities that you feel most drawn to. 2.) Varied Combat, Not for the Faint of HeartThe combat system in Shadow of Mordor empowers you with choice. Talion has a number of different attacks, born from both his skills as a Ranger and also his connection to the wraith. He can counter incoming strikes, roll over the backs of his opponents, and stun them with a burst of ghostly magic. But even with all this power, Talion is just one man, and he can be overwhelmed by larger groups. Exercise caution, act quickly, and Talion can dispatch mighty foes. 3.) Employ Stealth and MagicAlthough the combat system in Shadow of Mordor has plenty to offer, you can leverage Talion’s stealthy abilities to eliminate watchful archers, straggling sentries, or unguarded captains. Talion can vault up walls and along tall ledges to reach advantageous positions behind enemy lines, and leap down upon unsuspecting targets with a deadly flourish. Spotted? Use elf-like speed to escape in a blur of shadows. 4.) A Unique Army Stands Against YouThe captains of Sauron’s army will differ from player to player, their strengths and weaknesses evolving dynamically as the enemy ranks shift. Gather intel by probing the minds of Sauron’s forces and then target captains with secret knowledge. Or brand influential soldiers with the wraith’s mark, corrupting the dark legions from within. 5.) Gather Runes to Build a LegendPowerful enemies, including Sauron’s captains, may drop runes that can be etched into Talion’s sword, dagger, and bow. These runes act as loot in Shadow of Mordor, producing many beneficial effects that can be collected and tweaked to suit your favorite style of play. The more powerful the opponent, the more devastating the rune. Build an arsenal of these ethereal marks and build Talion’s legend. 6.) Defy Death, Wield Great PowerThe developers at Monolith have gone to great lengths to make you feel powerful through Talion’s Ranger abilities and the wraith’s influence. Fire shadowy arrows across long distances or unleash combos impossible for mortal men. Even when Talion is “defeated†by an enemy, he is simply resurrected at the nearest tower of the wraith, even stronger than before. 7.) Entertaining Diversions AwaitThough Talion is focused on his goal of vengeance, side missions fill the map and provide Talion with another method to build experience. Free slaves, clear guards from fortified positions, hunt local beasts for sport, or collect medicinal herbs to ensure his survival. 8.) Uncover Hidden RelicsThe crumbling ruins and jagged peaks of Mordor house a trove of ancient relics, hidden to mortal eyes. Use the wraith’s power to enter the world of shadow and track these forgotten treasures. Study them to reveal memories imprinted upon the items — conversations long past that provide insight into Middle-earth’s history. 9.) Learn the Lore of MordorMeeting a new hero, exploring a new location, and even collecting a wild herb open detailed entries in Shadow of Mordor’s appendix. These images and text give remarkable insight into the larger world of Lord of the Rings and provide a palpable sense of realness to even the most minute detail. 10.) Challenge the Blood Hunters and Flesh BurnersSkilled in bow and blade? Face the master assassins known as the Blood Hunters, or do battle with the elite archers of the Flesh Burners. These challenges award Talion with powerful runes for his weaponry, and both missions are exclusive to PS4. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor launches on September 30th for PS4, and hits PS3 on November 18th. View the full article

Hi there, PlayStation.Blog readers! In just a few weeks, you’ll be able to play Peggle 2 on your PS4. The comments and feedback we’ve received since our announcement at PAX have been so supportive and fantastic. When we launch on PlayStation Store on October 14th, we’ve got all kinds of great stuff waiting for our fans. Peggle 2 on PS4 displays in native 1080p at 60 frames per second. There are five different Peggle Masters to play through, Trials to test your skill, as well as Peg Party and Duels for multiplayer fun. We’ve even got a Platinum Trophy waiting for the elite Peggle players! All this writing doesn’t do the game justice, though. How can you explain the magic of a head-banging unicorn in mere text? We’re going to give you a chance to see the PS4 version of Peggle 2 in action! The official Twitch channel for PopCap will be hosting a live feed from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Pacific tomorrow, and you’ll get to see Peggle 2 running on PS4 in all its magical glory. During the stream, you’ll have a chance to talk with me and Guy Whitmore, the Senior Audio Director for Peggle 2. He can tell you how we find the right sounds for Peggle, and what it takes to create an intense experience that makes you hold your breath as that final ball inches closer and closer to the last orange peg on the board. Hope to see you then! View the full article

I’m Tom Beardsmore, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Coatsink Software. Co-Founder Paul Crabb and I established Coatsink in late 2009. Early on, our studio developed a few mobile titles including Pinch and Fatty as we continued to expand the size of our team. We’re now a team of 12 developers and in recent years we have pushed forward and began to develop PC/console games, including our upcoming PlayStation title: Shu! Shu is a 2.5D side-scrolling platformer, where the player can harness the unique abilities of a group of unusual and adorable hand-drawn characters. A deadly storm has forced villagers to seek refuge across the land, but many have become trapped. Your journey will take you across savannah and through forests, all the way to the very peak of a desolate mountain. As you (Shu) climb your way to the top with the storm hot on your heels, you will happen across these stranded villagers. Take them by the hand (or beard) and guide them to safety while harnessing their unique abilities. Keep an eye out for the sinister storm, because if it catches you, it’ll snatch your companions away one at a time. You’ll then lose them and their abilities for good, so it’s wise to stay on your toes. Fortunately, there can be more than one way to survive. Can you outrun the end of the world? Shu was originally conceived by our friends at Secret Lunch. However, in order to make the game a reality and bring it to Playstation platforms, we decided to go into development partnership together. In building the concept, we really liked the idea of a colorful world juxtaposed with a sinister villain; the idea of saving relics of your past and present, and moving through the remnants of earlier civilizations. In gaming, our inspirations are classics like Klonoa and Abe’s Oddysee (to name a few). We’re aiming to release the game on PS4, PS3, and PS Vita by the middle of 2015. Stay tuned here and at our website for updates. View the full article

Greetings PS4 Tenno, and welcome to our 14.5 Update extravaganza! From new customization options for your Warframe and Kubrow to a chilling event mission for you to test out some new weaponry, Update 14.5 has plenty of content to keep you busy. Or — now that back to school season is upon us — keep you sane while you discover the joys of the Pythagorean Theorem. I swear it comes in handy one day. Mod cards have received a much needed facelift, both in their visual description and through the menu’s overhaul. Players will now be able to scroll through a larger list of Mods in the Upgrade and Mod station that more clearly displays rarity and ranking. We’ve also included multiple configurations for each weapon and Warframe to allow players to compare builds directly against one another or have a build for every occasion! Another tremendously useful part of our updated Mod system is the information under Capacity, which now responds to player changes in real-time while giving a more detailed breakdown of what changes are being made. The usual suspects like Critical Chance and Damage are all still there but elemental Mods will now display their polarities and effectiveness in a more concise manner. Slap on your winter boots and get ready to dig for riches Tenno — Operation Cryotic Front is here and with it comes a brand new game mode. Excavation will eventually replace all terrestrial versions of the Survival mission type, finally answering the question of how you were able to run out of air on a planet. The answer is: you can’t. Players will now gather power cores from specially marked enemies in order to fuel a Scanner. Once the Scanner has located an area to drop an Excavator it’s up to you and your fellow Tenno to reach the dig site, power the drill, and defend it while it searches for the rare resource, Cryotic. There are of course plenty of rewards to be earned along the way, and the Cryotic is an important ingredient for a weapon recently repurposed from the Corpus… Want your enemies to shiver in fear at the sight of you? Enjoy chilling out with Infested during a mission? Love making ice-based puns? Well then the Glaxion is the weapon for you! The Glaxion is Warframe’s first weapon to utilize Cryotic in its construction, able to freeze enemies into solid blocks of ice at a distance. Joining it is the community inspired Kronen, deadly Tenno Tonfas that come with their own unique Stance Mod. The Karyst Dagger and microwave pistol Nukor will also be available with Update 14.5, so be sure to visit the Marketplace and your Dojo ASAP to start construction on all these new weapons. A new Prime Warframe means new Prime Access, and with that comes a whole new set of deals on Prime Accessories and Platinum. This time the lovely Nyx is getting a gold trimmed update, and if you’ve never had the chance to experience the mass hysteria she’s able to create on the battlefield, now may be a good time to check her out. Nyx Prime, Hikou Prime, Scindo Prime, Targis Prime Armor, and the Vala Sugatra Prime are all available for purchase with some discounted platinum in our Prime Access. Or if you’re interested in assembling the Warframe and weapons using your skill with gun and blade you can look forward to getting these Prime parts and schematics from Tier 4 Void missions. If you enjoy the Lotus’ unique fashion sense, then we’ve got some good news for you. Our Lotus and Eximus color pickers are both going to be available in the Market as of 14.5. This means you can finally get one step closer to being really, really purple. Or if you decide to go with the Eximus color picker you’ll probably just have a lot of colorful options at your fingertips. Maybe a stealthy yellow mixed with green to help you blend into your surroundings. We also have some good news for anyone that’s wanted to customize their Kubrow but may be tired of stealing random puppies. The Basic, Savenga, and Telmatian Gene Masking Kit will also be available for purchase in the Market. All three packs represent a good collection of fur color and patterns, and we promise there are probably no adverse side effects to genetically altering your Kubrow for aesthetic purposes. It’s all live today on PS4, so go forth and bring balance to the system, Tenno! View the full article

Hi Folks, The support for Frozen Synapse Prime has been awesome so far and we’re excited to launch on the US PlayStation Store today! We’d like to share a more in-depth look at the gameplay, focusing on some of the more advanced strategies and touch controls. FSP has been designed in a way that anyone can become a competitive or advanced player, with a ton of depth under the surface. The only limits are your own creativity and deviousness. FSP isn’t about luck in regards to who will win in a firefight, it’s totally down to you and your tactics. If a unit on your squad gets shot you’ll know why, and how to adapt next time. But when you take out an enemy, you know that you were able to outwit them. KEYS TO VICTORYAside for the commands and moves, victory is just as much about the mind-games between two players, and FSP inspires you to anticipate and deceive your opponent. Read the Terrain – You can’t ‘learn’ the maps in FSP. There are an infinite number of procedurally generated battlefields, as well as the ability to customize your own. How much cover does the map offer you? How can you best utilize this with the strengths of your squad? Predict Your Opponents – Use the ability to assign plans to the enemy squad to answer those ‘what if’ scenarios. What if that grenadier tries to escapes his room? Or tries to toss a grenade out? Predict your opponent’s options and then eliminate them. Work Together – All classes are balanced in FSP with varying strengths and weaknesses. Rocket Launchers can blow up walls but are vulnerable in close-quarters; use them to target rooms to create new routes for your other units, or flush the enemy out. Advanced Commands Quick plans with simple paths and aiming can get the job done, but adding extra layers with the more advanced commands will give you an edge. Use Targeting to eliminate the biggest threats first, or target specific areas. Use the Continue-on-Sight and Slide commands to fine-tune your paths and aiming, so units are not moving slower through the map when they don’t need to. Use the Check command to move quickly through rooms, only glancing in specific areas. If there’s a threat your unit will engage, if not he’ll be able to cover ground quickly. TOUCH CONTROLThe integration of touch control in FSP and its evolution throughout development has been an interesting journey. We initially focused on only getting the camera controls onto the front touch screen, and progressing onto laying down the most common plans and paths players would use. From there we really challenged ourselves to integrate full touch controls throughout the game, and designed a minimalist user-interface for Vita around that philosophy. It’s quick and easy to lay down simple and affective plans with full touch controls, or a mix of both touch and button input, whatever you prefer. Please check out all our other FSP vids on the blog and thanks for listening! View the full article

Get ready to assemble! The next chapter of Disney Infinity begins today with the release of Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes (2.0 Edition). The game is available starting today for PS4 and PS3. You might remember, Executive Producer John Vignocchi announced the Collector’s Edition earlier this summer. The Collector’s Edition includes the Starter Pack, all of the launch Avengers character figures, and – the main event! – an exclusive light-up Frost Beast display. And keep in mind the Collector’s Edition is the only way to get your hands on Hulk at launch! HULK SMASH COLLECTOR’S EDITION! In addition to the Avengers Play Set that comes inside of the Starter Pack, you can also pick up Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man Play Sets along with additional character figures from those worlds separately. All three Play Sets take you on new super-powered story-driven adventures in the Marvel universe. Additionally, they feature new character and combat systems and larger worlds than the first installment of Disney Infinity. The new Toy Box 2.0 mode has a ton of new features and items to explore. We’re all really excited to see what you guys create. The new tools really make it easier for players of any age to pick up the controls and create one-of-a-kind levels. The Toy Box Game Discs are something new too – these come with the Starter Pack and provide several hours of repeatable, structured Toy Box gameplay complete with cut scenes. With the 40 Marvel Power Discs available now, you can access everything from the Winter Soldier Team-Up to Spider-Man’s Symbiote Costume and Star-Lord’s Knowhere Sky. Team up with the Winter Soldier and catch your enemies in the crossfire. Community is incredibly important to us, and the new Toy Box 2.0 mode opens up many more options for downloading and sharing Toy Boxes. Ar nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star launches today on PS3, and some of you may be asking: “what exactly is a ’7 dimensional’ RPG?†While we believe that you can only truly understand Ar nosurge by embarking on the journey yourself, as the director of the game I hope to be able to provide some insight into the unique world and emotions that you will experience. Ar nosurge is categorized as an RPG, but that’s not entirely true. Ar nosurge goes beyond the 7 dimensions of space and time, and connects to a world that exists in the far reaches — Ar nosurge is a network operating system existing in a parallel universe. You might be thinking: “Sure, that’s just the setting of the game.†But in fact, people who understand Ar nosurge on that basis alone will be in for quite a surprise halfway through the storyline. Up until that point the story carefully and accurately depicts “a world that exists beyond the 7 dimensions.†While you the player exist in this world, I believe you’ll also feel that you are essential in controlling the fate of the other world. Of course, it’s no different than any other RPG that you as the player affect the outcome of the game world. However, in Ar nosurge you will encounter an entirely different sensation — in fact, a completely new sensation. The reason is that this piece of software, the “Ar nosurge OSâ€, is an OS capable of “two-way communication†between you and the inhabitants of the world beyond the 7 dimensions. I’ll refrain from going into to all of the intricacies in Ar nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star, as the main wish I have for you is feeling connected with another world in a way that you have never experienced before. As you continue to delve deeper into the story, I feel you will have an emotional connection to the world, in a way that is more intense and distinctly different than in other RPGs. After the release in Japan, many “lost souls†emerged upon completion of the game who did not want to sever their connection from the world beyond the 7 dimensions. Emotions such as this were proclaimed by many: “When the game ended, I felt such a strong feeling of emptiness, and it’s the first time I’ve experienced it to such a degree after finishing a game,†but these statements were made with happiness, not with sadness. Aren’t you curious to find out what this happy “sense of emptiness†is? Find out for yourself, and other uncover many other mysteries in Ar nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star beginning today on PS3. Please open your mind to a different reality and discover a new world where music and song can create magic — and so much more! View the full article

Hello again, PlayStation nation! It’s my pleasure to bring you an update about the Invizimals franchise, and my, what an update it is! Across the next two weeks we’ll be launching five separate Invizimals titles digitally across the PS3 and PS Vita, and I’m here to tell you exactly what’s on the way. Today we’ll see the digital release of 3 titles — Invizimals, Invizimals: Shadow Zone, and for the first time ever in North America, Invizimals: The Lost Tribes. These first three PSP titles introduced the world to the wonderful cast of Invizimals — and now you’ll be able to enjoy them digitally wherever and whenever you like. All three digital PSP releases have been modified in order to take advantage of the AR Play cards included with every Vita system. As long as you have one AR Play card with you, you’ll be ready for whatever Invizimal happens to be hiding nearby. As if that wasn’t enough, next Tuesday, September 30th, will see the launch of both Invizimals: The Alliance for PS Vita and Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom for PS3. Both games tell the story of the battle against the evil Xtractor robots, but are told from two completely different perspectives. You’re the star in Invizimals: The Alliance. As the successor to the PSP entries, you’ll use nearly every Vita hardware feature to capture a whole host of new creatures and help the Alliance investigate the Invizimal disturbance in our world. There’s even a 4-player adhoc and online battle mode — perfect for testing the skills of the Invizimals you encounter in the single-player story. Invizimals: The Lost Kingdom is a 3rd-person, action-adventure that follows the story of Hiro — a star member of The Alliance who gets sent into the Invizimal world to fend off an enemy threat. You’ll be able to transform into 16 distinct Invizimals, each with its own abilities and attack styles, as well as challenge your friends with the same multiplayer mode found in The Alliance. In fact, both The Alliance and The Lost Kingdom support cross play — both locally and online — for the 4-player multiplayer mode! Not only can you battle your friends’ Invizimals across titles, but you can also transfer creatures and items back and forth as well — feel free to keep your favorite Invizimals and items on the platform of your choice. We’ll have more on Invizimals in the future, but in the meantime, keep your eyes peeled, get up off that couch, and go have fun hunting! View the full article

Hi folks, James from FuturLab back again one last time to share our secret to creating a great sequel! Before I get to that, I need to stress that this post contains MASSIVE SPOILERS for Velocity 2X. So please look away until you’ve finished it! We knew that the original Velocity was going to delight and surprise people because we’d added something new, interesting and exciting to the shoot ‘em-up genre. This is really important for achieving critical word-of-mouth and great review scores, and as a small studio of just three people at the time, innovation and surprise was our ticket to earning support from PlayStation. TWICE THE TWITCHY FUNWhen it came to designing the sequel, we knew we couldn’t rest on our laurels, and had to keep the surprises coming. The first idea for the sequel was to include platforming, as that would provide stable ground to expand upon the cool new features introduced by the first game, and it would drive interest for the game once announced. We also knew that being able to fly inside a boss to destroy it from within would be enough to grab people’s attention at release. Allowing the player to get in and out of their ship was always going to be fun! Letting the player fly inside a boss was our hook to capture people’s imagination at release However, we also knew it might not be enough to put gigantic smiles on our fans’ faces, and coax those nice big 9s and 10s from reviewers. We needed something special; a whole new surprise that would at once delight, excite and simply MELT a player’s brain. Those who have already finished Velocity 2X will know exactly what I’m talking about. For those that haven’t finished the game yet, this is your last warning to look away now! ESSENTIAL CHERRIESThe final three levels of Velocity 2X are the cherries on the cake that bring new meaning to the game’s title, and provide a final flourish of gameplay fun as a reward for persevering through the campaign. It’s also the idea that we believed would give reviewers that final reason to push their review scores up to a 9 or a 10. When we saw these tweets from Sony after delivering an early build, we were pretty confident it was going to do the trick: We just had half the office surround @TheSakeDiary all rapt in awe at Velocity 2X on PS4. — Shahid Kamal Ahmad (@shahidkamal) February 4, 2014 @FuturLab @shakemayster @shahidkamal @TheSakeDiary @KirstyRigden haha Done! So incredible! At least 6 peeps in chorus said OMG! WHAAAAT!! — Tony Clark (@AntonyaClark) February 4, 2014 @shakemayster @shahidkamal @TheSakeDiary @FuturLab @KirstyRigden by the way…You know that level.. THE level.. OMG! Half office mouth drops — Tony Clark (@AntonyaClark) February 4, 2014 We’ll never know whether it actually worked, but from the messages we’ve received from players, it certainly had the impact we desired =) DUAL CORE DLC PACKThose that have finished the game have written to us in various forms to ask for more of these levels as DLC, so today I’m here to reveal that’s exactly what the next DLC pack contains! The Dual Core DLC will be available this afternoon for just $2.99 and is cross-buy for PS4 and PS Vita. CRITICAL URGENCY DLC PACKDon’t forget that the Critical Urgency DLC is available now too for just $2.99 and is also cross-buy for PS4 and PS Vita. GET PLAYING!Velocity 2X is available now for $19.99 utilising cross-save and cross-buy for PS4 and PS Vita! Or, y’know, it’s free on PlayStation Plus… View the full article

It’s been a long ride, but the royal chariot is finally ready to roll. Since we first unveiled it at this year’s E3, hundreds of players have had the opportunity to take it out for a spin and give us some feedback. One question kept coming back: “When is it gonna come out on PS4?†Well, today we’re happy to announce that PS4 owners will be able to experience Chariot’s unique co-op platforming and spelunking goodness next Tuesday, September 30th. You’ve never heard of Chariot, you say? That’s alright! We’ll sum it up for you: Chariot is a co-op platformer game where two players have to work together using physics-based mechanics, like pushing and pulling, to bring His Majesty’s royal coffin to his final resting place. Since the king’s ghost is picky (to say the least) regarding where and how he expects to be buried, this won’t be an easy task. Along the way, the Princess and her Fiancé will have to gather gold and precious gems to decorate the sepulcher. We love that local multiplayer games are making a comeback, but we wanted to stray from the competitive game model and make one that focused on cooperation. That being said, the game can be enjoyed and finished by playing solo, but steel yourself, because some of the challenges will require an enormous amount of creativity on your part if you decide to go it alone. We can’t wait for you guys to try Chariot! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to share them with us in the comments. We’re really eager to chat with you guys! View the full article

Hi everyone! As you may remember, this year we announced that we were bringing a revamped digital version of SingStar to PS4 Well, I’m very excited to share with you that the new addition to the SingStar franchise will be coming out on October 28th. The wait is over! This new, updated version of SingStar will be available in North America (as well as Canada, Brazil and Mexico!) as a free digital download, exclusively on PlayStation Network for both PS4 and PS3. With this download you will get the game client with direct access to the SingStore so you can easily browse through and purchase songs to build your library. If you are new to SingStar you can check out the available free demo songs and see what all the fun is about. As we promised, the price for songs and song packs will remain the same as they did in previous versions of the game. You can purchase songs from the in-game SingStore or directly from PSN — individual songs are $1.49 and song packs containing five songs are $5.99, thus giving you the ability to customize and build your library however you wish! The best news is if you have already purchased songs from the SingStore or PSN for SingStar on PS3, then if the song is available on PS4 you will be able to download it to your PS4 at no extra charge as long as you are logged in to the same SEN account. No mic? No problem! We will also be releasing a SingStar companion app, SingStar Mic on the same day and will be available for free for Android, iPhone, and iPod Touch. The SingStar app will allow you to use your smart device as a microphone and is compatible with both the PS4 and PS3 versions of SingStar. You can also use the app to create playlists from your SingStar library to play in game. We will have more details to share as we get closer to the release date, but in the meantime start warming up your vocal chords and get ready for SingStar on October 28th. View the full article

Hi folks, my name is Nadim and I do game design at Pastagames. We are launching Pix the Cat on PS4 and PS Vita (with cross buy support) in early October, and we have a new game mode exclusive for PS4 players: the Arena! Call me old-school, but the most outrageous fun I have when playing games is with friends, at home, facing the same screen, hearing laughter or frustration after a quirky situation. I grew up with Bomberman and am still playing Towerfall just to enjoy shoving my buddy’s controller away when he’s winning or whining too much! We’ve been wanting to make a nervy, rewarding couch-multiplayer game for years at Pastagames, and Pix the Cat turned out to be the best opportunity to satisfy this multiplayer urge. In the Arcade Mode, you control a restless cat in a dimensional maze. You collect ducklings that line up in a tail behind you — and then deliver them on targets to open the gates of the next level. The core Pix gameplay sets solid grounds for a feisty Arena brawl. So we added three other cats to make a party of (up to) four players that fight to be the last PixBot standing. You will collect ammo-eggs that make your tail longer (and slow you down) and then use them to destroy your opponents. Three egg-types grant you different weapons: the white stun-shots, the green proxy-mines, and the purple amok-rockets. You can also choose to consume your ammo-eggs for a continuous “Dash†to ram through your opponents. Dashing is colorblind and will burn through purple, green, and white ammo-eggs alike. Find your own style to go with each of the seven Arenas — they cater to all! From Trap-Tsar to Lean Mean Missile Launching Machine, through the Insta-Head-First-Rusher without forgetting the Unstoppable Dash Train, every strategy has its place… and its score screen medal. Don’t underestimate the power of white eggs and minimalistic strategy. Collecting a lot of ammo is not always wise. A carefully timed stun shot followed up with a tiny-one-egg-dash can be extremely effective. Some of the Arenas feature nested sub-levels you can hide in to avoid oncomers. Or use them to change battlegrounds if you think it is to your advantage. The warps can be your saving grace! But watch out, as soon as all PixBots are in the same dimension, the camera will zoom down, closing warps on its way. If you’re having a three or four player party, killed PixBots will come back to life as ghosts. This way, you never stop playing… because if a ghost hits a live PixBot, they’ll switch, one coming back to life as the other fades away into a grudgeful ghost. Ghosts may not be speedy but they pack a punch. If you or your ammo-tail gets caught you’ll regret it. Don’t try shooting them either, you might be in for an unpleasant surprise. There’s too much to say on the many strategies and tricks to adopt in order to win with the various setups and settings you go about in the Arena. So you’ll have to find your own! Please do share them if you’ve invented new ones. It’s the first time at Pastagames that we stay after hours and fight for a controller to play a game we’ve been working on for ages. We hope you’ll take as much pleasure blasting your friends away as we did in making this mode! Pix the Cat — Arena is a local multiplayer combat game mode. It’s friendly and beastly, hectic and strategic. It’s very simple to tame and have fun with, even when playing with experienced players, but if you stick with it you’ll find many levels of hidden depths — pun intended — waiting to be explored. So dash on, fellow PixBots! View the full article
