I use...

http://free.grisoft.com/

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10743107.html?tag=pop.software

I don't use this one, but I heard its great...

http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Edition/3000-2239_4-10747101.html?tag=pop.software

These are all free and very easy to use. You can always pay to get an better version of the software. Also, if you get a virus or something suspicious, google it... There are hundreds of sites that specialize in helping you clean your PC of viruses, adware, malware, etc. etc.

i use the very last one u posted. Avast-Home-Edition is really great... I havent had many problems at all.

Have you tryed this yet? I would be suprised if this dont work for you. Keep us updated.

for your Restore settings did you pick a day that had a system checkpoint? im telling you this will solve your problem.. as well as problems in the future if its done right.. no 1 program will give you the success of removing problems like a restore will. if it didnt make any changes im assuming that you chose a day that didnt have a restore point set. usually windows updates will set these as well as multiple spyware programs that do it as well.. so chances are you do have a restore point.. but you will have to click multiple days w/in the calendar to find one..  again.. i would be willing to even talk you through it on the phone if needed to help you get back to normal w/o spending any money... and if not.. well atleast i tried..

1. Get an anti virus program (Norton will work but most say its a hog)

2. Turn on your computer in "safe mode"

3. Run your antivirus program

After you are done then down load an anti spyware program. This in combination with the anti virus will help protect you in the future.

Now when the comp is all cleaned up- Ensure you set up this as a system restor point.

Someone keeps screeming "run a restore!" which may not fix the problem and in some cases with "the good viruses" by completing the action will corrupt you OS. Which is fun! lol

My dad is like a computer Geniuss. He created those Printer/Scanner/Copiers and so i rarely have computer problems. We have a few virus software things. We had Norton, then went to Macafee. But it doesnt work any better. My dad will run scans using Spyware now. Trust me, IT WORKS!

i hope so

i'm still waiting for disciple

At this point if you have not got it fixed- Pack the s4it up and take it to geek squad- They will tell you whats wrong with it for free... Then PAY for an anti virus and spyware blocker... Its kinda like saying you got an std but keep asking around the locker room- QUESTION: "Hey anyone know what this shit is?" ANSWER "Yeah bro, go buy some some stuff and get that taken of" lol Would ya wait around while some guy says he has some free stuff ya should try? lmao :o jk :D

Norton retail sucks BUT Norton Server is very good! Retail hogs system resources which slow the crap out of your PC.

Windows Defender is free and does a very good job for spyware.

With any anti-virus make sure the definitions are up to date. That is a common Trojan and should be cleaned fairly easily. My stepson just got that infection but the ones that are a bitch are the ones where the spyware have the pop ups saying your PC is infected and won't go away. He just got the virus and spyware issue all in the same day. The spyware actually put an image as the desktop that overlapped and was a clickable image. If I wasn't an IT manager and known what to do I would have been screwed.
