We make sure we don't overestimate what Sniper, I and the Staff are able to handle. With the amount of time, and in choosing the right time, that we took to even bring on another game, this should be no surprise to anyone. Sniper and I have talked about it extensively over many months, and we feel comfortable staying with one platform, and that platform has been and will be Playstation.

Now I have a stupid question. I have CoD4, but I believe I am the only one in my clan with it. I would like to participate, but I have no clan. I guess my question is, would I be allowed to join a different clan on CoD4 than the one I'm on now, because I have no intentions on leaving The Brotherhood on Socom? This will be addressed soon.

This should go without saying..... BUT....if you're online on CoD4 and run across some great clans with a sportman-like attitude....INVITE 'EM IN! The UF Crucible won't be on a roll if there aren't enough clans to fill it. And the faster we get quality clans in this community for the UF Crucible, then the better the selection and chances of having a GREAT CoD4 Tacmap tourney once the first UF Crucible is done. SO.....again.....if you see them, if you play them and if you dig them......GET THEM ON HERE!

In a 24-clan tourney, with approx. 32-members per clan roster, we're dealing with potentially 768 players per tacmap tourney. Not counting those clans with multiple rosters....Black tourney teams and clans that only play Black tourneys.....and with this forum holding 1,500 members of clans of which we're CERTAIN not all their participating members are a part of this forum.....and I think we're dealing with a lot. I don't think it makes up even a small amount of the 10,000 playing nightly nor the 30-50,000 players simultaneously playing this game throughout the month. But speaking for UF itself.....we're happy with who we DO have here and those being entertained.

For a solid week now, the UF Staff have been diligently picking this game and all of its aspects apart to ascertain whether or not this game can fit the UF template. Well, the verdict has come down and the verdict is a GO! Much like the long-timers here at UF have come to expect, the quality we've put into the Socom tourneys will not waver on our installments of the CoD4 tourneys. There will be a web-supported tacmap tourney for CoD4.....but before that....clans will have to participate in The UF Crucible, CoD4's version of the UF: Black tourneys for evaluation in UF. Records will be kept so that NO inexperienced UF community clan will be able to participate in our tacmap tourneys until they pass The UF Crucible! The "Crucible" is the real-life final test of a US Marine in Phase III of Marine Corps recruit training designed to emphasize the importance of team work in overcoming adversity. Well, team work just happens to be what we emphasize here with the quality clans that have migrated to Urgent Fury over these years. The UF Crucible will be the ONGOING evaluation tourney for ANY clan to gain entry into the upcoming CoD4 tacmap tourneys. The UF Community was clamoring for it, and UF, as promised, will DELIVER! Ok.... After a week of playing this game, I can go ahead and say that UF is VERY interested in giving Call of Duty 4 for the Playstation 3 the UF-treatment. We're thinking that this game is heads above other past possibilities like GRAW, Vegas and Resistance. Those games just didn't offer the standards that would make a UF tourney work....and CoD4 is very close to that. What I'm trying to ascertain now is the ease and convenience of being ABLE to start and conduct a UF-style war between two teams on CoD4. In the past few days, we've come across MANY snags in two teams conveniently finding one another (hell, finding their OWN team mates) and we're worried about the convenience of STARTING a match between two teams on this game. I'd like to say that CoD4 is VERY close to being adopted by UF. Hell, in fact, I'm PULLING for it. I like the game and would like to see many others enjoying the UF-treatment slathered all over it. Time will tell, and honestly, I don't want to spend TOO much more time trying to figure it all out. We're close to making a verdict. The final say, however, won't be up to Sniper and I.....it'll be up to the game and its ability to create some ease in making a game DEPENDABLY. So that's where we're at now. ***Side note: One thing that we've touched on here on the UF forum is the lack of clan capabilities on CoD4. As some have pointed out, a clan is not defined by the game's ability or inability to sustain an actual online clan roster, but rather, the clan's forums, websites and basic ties will make it a clan. However, when playing CoD4, I see a LOT of non-looking clan activity going on. Only on every few maps do I see actual, unified CLANS coming in to war it up. Otherwise, it just looks like a bunch of individuals gaming it up separately and randomly. HOPEFULLY, that's just because the game just came out and, as we see here, a lot of gamers are just waiting for the rest of their "clans" to get on the PS3 wagon. So we'll give it a few weeks. IF UF was to go full speed ahead on CoD4, I can let you know now that Sniper and I will not be creating a tacmap tourney for this game to start BEFORE the holidays....for two reasons. One, well, because it's the holidays and everyone will be too busy to commit to wars. Secondly, we're figuring that PS3 owners will increase after Christmas with the price drop and all, potentially boosting the online play of CoD4. TTFN all by BFFs!

I think what the gentleman is trying to say is that there was more info on the clan tag in Socom. You could look up the guy's profile in Socom and the clan NAME would be displayed....so if there was a question pertaining to a guy's affiliation, the clan name would answer it. CoD4, not so easy. And yes, yes, I know...."let's stop comparing CoD4 to Socom." Problem is.....this is Urgent Fury. Three years based on Socom, and quite frankly, Socom set the standard for military shooters on the Playstation. Comparisons are going to be automatic. Can't be helped. It's like finding a new job in real life. When you tell someone about it or talk about it, you're bound to make comparisons to the old job. The things that are better or worse at the new job compared to the old one.

There is MUCH "potential" here for CoD4 in UF.....and the Staff's still testing out all the waters. IF we're going to give CoD4 the UF-treatment, then we want to make sure we understand the ins and outs to their fullest extent.....which is what we did with Socom.....to make sure problems do not arise down the line. Your input, however, is being noted.

S'what I do..............

The frozen screen thing has happened to be before. Have you tried simultaneously holding down the MENU and the PLAY buttons on the click wheel at the SAME TIME? This resets the iPod and brings it back up....and no, it doesn't clear out all your files. Just resets it. If THAT doesn't work....then there's the factory reset that DOES clear out all your files. Give it a try.

Can anyone else verify this? Not that I don't trust you, but "NO" seems to be the general opinion on this.

Is there currently anything online that is a little more comprehensive and up-to-date than this article? Some of the info down there is even slightly incorrect....miniscule things, but important none-the-less.

I have seen the paradise that is: CoD4 maps played as HQ objectives. Holy SHIT there is just NO break in this action! 101-Bandit, \H/-HDMaurader, cBF-Sequoyah and a few of my fellow APCers were ROCKING it on this thing. Talk about INTENSE. I believe this was the most intense CoD4 mode of game play I have come across......and me likey a lot. Still getting used to it. I think after playing it a few nights now, I will be able to go into the Custom Room option to see just what and how many maps we could potentially fit into a UF-style tourney......and if this would work for UF overall. The worrisome thing here is that we're still seeing a LOT of complaints on the no-clan thing (hell, I'm one of 'em), and if anything, UF IS a clan-based tourney. And yes, as others have typed up before this, you CAN have a clan on there without having an actual home roster.......but that's not going to be the issue here. The issue here is will be see CLANS playing this game, and enough so that numbers ARE able to be dependably fielded for a UF tourney? That remains to be seen.

Quick question, as this was brought up by one of the UF Staff: In the "private match setup," do we have the opportunity to make a PASSWORD room? Or is every room succeptible to having people barging in in the middle of a UF war?

Time will tell, inadub. Does anyone know if there is a LIST in existence anywhere that SPECIFIES what rewards there are for each and every level? Â ANYWHERE on the web? Â That might answer a LOT of questions early. Just asking, on games like GRAW and Vegas and Resistance.....were there clan capabilities on those? Â Or was it more like what we're seeing on CoD4? Â I am interested in CoD4 in giving you the option for a "clan" tag, but not having anything that closely RESEMBLES a "clan" in the game......making me think there COULD be something in later levels or something. Â Perhaps they want clan leaders who HAVE reached a certain level to only be the ones able to MAKE a clan. Â I don't know......lots of "I-don't knows" so far......so a posted online reward/rank list for CoD4 would be AWESOME.

These will continue. They won't necessarily stop with the conclusion of UF4. UF is in a strained transition period right now as we're still running Black tourneys for Socom, checking out CoD4 for potential UF-inclusion, which constitutes a lot of PLAYING of that game along with evaluation reports by the UF Staff, as well as gearing up for another possible small tourney for SOCOM unlike the Black series, putting the final touches on the videos from the UF4 semi-final and final matches, all while slowly integrating our new Staff members and body with the roles they will play in our arena here. We're busy, but we're trying not to place anything on the wayside. Let me PROMISE that there will be a new Spoof ad coming on the podcast for next week. There ya have it in writing. ;D
