Actually, this event makes some of MY job a little bit easier. Topic for next month's UF Blog will most likely be a recap of the weekend spent with UF players and just the general vibe of gamers taking themselves OUT of the game to meet one another. I think that's good subject matter all over the place!

Hey everyone..... So the UF meet, BELIEVE it or not, is next weekend. Right around the corner! August 2nd we're having a get-together that's number around 10-15 players. A lot of 'em APCers but we're also seeing some various members of the UF community dropping in as well. Sniper and I are pretty excited about man-embracing for the very first time and yeah, we'll give you a handshake too! We've ironed out the itinerary for SATURDAY, AUGUST 2nd, so you can have a chance to hang out with us. At 2pm CST, we're going to be setting up at Caldwell Woods here in Chicago. The address is 6200 W Devon Avenue - Chicago, IL 60645 Here is a simple map for ya: We will be here for hours. I would say probably around 5-7 hours. We will have bags (cornhole, bean bags, whatever you call 'em from where you're from), balls, mitts, frisbees and whatever else we wanna pass as a sport that day. We will try and bring a grill for food as there is a grocery store RIGHT across the street. This will also help with alcohol and any regular drink. We'll have some coolers out there, and if you want to put stuff in there to keep cold, you're welcome to it. Bring your own food and drink and toss it into the pile....I'm sure everyone doesn't mind sharing with the contributors! If we're NOT grilling, then we have SUPERDAWG right across the street and the place is AWESOME! Great 60's style drive-up hot dogs and burgers with the silliest, most demonic looking hot dog mascot towering over their establishment. In fact, if you found the hot dog guy, you know you're in the right place. Here's a link to a picture to help you out: http://www.superdawg.com/ I would think we'll be out there until about 8-ish or so. At about 9pm, we're going to take the party over to Moody's Pub found on 5910 N. Broadway in Chicago. Roughly about a 10-12 minute drive from the Caldwell Woods. It's a bar so no one underage goes with us. We're NOT sneaking anyone in. This is a CASH ONLY bar. They do not do credit cards, so bring the dough. They have an awesome outdoor beer garden and the indoor is very dark, very subdued and very SMOOOOTH. If Moody's ends up being packed for however many we'll have with us, we'll head one block NORTH on Broadway (basically 5 doors down) and head into Ol' St. Andrews Inn. We WILL be at one of those two locations from 9pm til.......whenever. And that's that. We hope to see a few that signed up for it and we hope to maybe catch a few who didn't. Either way, it'll be a great time and it will feel good to meet a couple of you who have enjoyed your stay here at Urgent Fury all this time now. We'll be more than happy to shake your hand and share a few laughs! Hope to see you. - TOW

This is really........REALLY.....freakin' me out. LOL
-
If you were talking to me, my controller turns off the PS3 just FINE. It's just not turning it on. Either controller.
-
LOL.....so THAT'S why Cmdr. Fury called me and said that I'd LOVE this week's podcast....LOL...... GOODNESS...!
-
Thank you very much for pointing it out, Wade.
-
Actually, with mine, I HAVE to leave them plugged in. If I unplug them, even when they've "connected" to my PS3, then the lights go off and they don't do a thing. And to the other poster, when you "reformat" your PS3, do you lose all saved info?
-
The rules have been amended for the above situation and can be found in Rule Set 6.

My apologies....it MIGHT not have been specified. (sorry, I've been primarily in CoD4-mode as I haven't played SOCOM in a while, where in CoD4 it doesn't usually matter with weapons being the same on either side) FOR SOCOM: Set up the map for BEST OF 5 ROUNDS. Opponents will work out who is on what side first. After the 5 rounds are played, restart the map and SWITCH SIDES for another 5 rounds. Winner moves on. IF after both rotations the round total is 5 rounds won each, then a TIE-BREAKER round, one shot, will be played. In this instance, refer to the bracket and the player posted BELOW the other is the one to choose the side they wish to play on. I will amend the official RONIN rules so that this portion for SOCOM is displayed on there. For CoD4, we do not consider sides a factor as you will continually respawn throughout the map variably. Thank you for pointing this out.

Hey everyone..... Has anyone here yet come across a problem with their PS3 where NEITHER of their Bluetooth controllers turn on their PS3 by hitting the PS button? This is a recent problem for me only starting last week. All four "charge" lights will blink together about 4 or 5 times, and then they will go black. The PS3 system stays off. This is with BOTH of them. They SHOULD be fully charged as I always keep one charging while I play with the other. Lately, because of this problem, I actually keep them BOTH plugged in even as I'm playing. It seems, also, that the controllers won't work UNLESS their plugged in to begin with. I have to manually turn on my PS3....give it a few seconds....and then when I hit the PS button on a controller, it will take a few seconds for it to be "found" before it will actually assign itself as controller 1 or 2. The controllers work FINE after that, and I game it up as normal. They turn off the system just fine as well. It's just the problem that they don't turn on my PS3 anymore. Anyone got any ideas? Anyone here have a controller that did something similar? I know a lot of people here say they go through controllers like crazy. I take very good care of mine so I doubt it's a problem from misuse.

Please help me keep this thread BUMPED up to make sure everyone sees it through the next few days. Thanks, everyone!

THIS IS A REMINDER! Please get your matches set for the last half of this week ASAP. You're all getting a few days to get acclimated with this process for the first round. For the second round, you will not get as much time.
-
Please inform your fellow clansmen that the brackets are now up. They should already be checking this, but it never hurts to lend a helpful hand.

Please go to the following links to find the UF: Ronin HUBS where players involved in the Ronin tourney need to coordinate their wars with their opponents. DO NOT DELAY IN SETTING UP YOUR WAR! The details of map and day and time NEED to be figured out by you and your opponent before the match can transpire. The sections are simply CHILD BOARDS found here in the Playstation public section of our forum. The link to the SOCOM section is here: http://www.urgentfury.com/uf_forum/index.php?board=82.0 The link to the CoD4 section is here: http://www.urgentfury.com/uf_forum/index.php?board=81.0 GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! We're looking very forward to crowning the winners. And please remember, as always, win with honor, lose with dignity! - Urgent Fury

To all UF players.... If you have NOT yet submitted payment for entry into the UF Ronin tourney, you MAY NOT enter at this point in time. We gave a week for payments and the deadline has now passed. All entrants that have paid are now in the tourney and they will be the only players going forward to compete for SOCOM: Confrontation pre-order prizes. The brackets for both the SOCOM and the CoD4 versions of the RONIN tourney will be up sometime on Sunday. Please keep in mind that the FIRST three days of the tourney in order for you to schedule your first match-up will be this week THURS-FRI-SAT, the 24th, 25th and 26th of July. This initial "elongated" week should allow everyone ample time to get used to setting up their match with their opponent so that any following matches you may have as you head through the bracket should prove easier and easier to accomplish in a fast manner. IF YOU HAVE NOT YET SUBMITTED YOUR ENTRY FEE YET, DO NOT DO IT AT THIS TIME! You have missed your deadline. If you submit an entry fee after this posting, you will not have entry into the tourney. We will refund anyone's money to them that accidentally submits their payment, however, your refund will come to you MINUS the PayPal fee of the transaction, the cost of getting a money order made out to your name and the cost of postage. In essence, you'll be getting a lot less than $4.00. So PLEASE, do not submit your entry fee at this time. The deadline has passed. To make it clear on the deadline participants, the following players successfully got their entry fees in on time and will be included into their respective brackets: FOR COD4 [APC]Tool_Minion [sHO] Prolog39 [+30] Prate [AoA] -Affliction- [APC] Tinkerbell [odc] Johnson30 [APC] Metsfan86 [cBs>] sharkbait2 [APC] Eagles1fan5 [APC] Lord_Lucifer_ [\H/] Attmore [APC] Bunni-Rabbit [LPK] COWonCRACK [odc] Rockman35 [101] Red0ctober [sCK] XWARDOGX [sHO] TJD07 [101] Smokeosama [101] mikejaxon [+30] MAINERD- [+30] ceedub21 [APC] PRIMEMEAT [cBs>] CDBS14 [cBs>] chingchang11 [>7<] Playerdown [+30] apophis [odc] SMOKEY-7525 [\H/] IrshZ28 [sHO] Carnage71 [sHO] PENGU1N8766 [\H/] D_DubYa [cBs>] goro_fugita [DaRK] SouthwoodS [APC] Macoo_ [sHO] Pathogen- [sHO] MAVERICK3324 [sHO] G00SE-11 [*S*] Prane [CDS] Kuhnaydeein [APC] o-STRICK-o [AoV] JUST-DIE4LIFE [sxB] Odgeinator [sxB] willywonka159 [sxB] Daniel751 [+30] CAV-SCOUT FOR SOCOM [+30] CAV-SCOUT [CDS] Kuhnaydeein [>7<] SOTG_Miz [CDS] -Rooster- [sHO] _.-GOOSE-._ [WDA] Sal_Rosenburgh [WDA] Andawg [WsW] -Wu-Dragon [sCK] .T3RMINATOR. [LPK] COWonCRACK [>7<] .FEAR_WADE [101] Smokeosama [u$] Shadowboxin7 [u$] -.Sal.- [APC] PRIMEMEAT [101] --BB--Xanthe [\H/] -Tha_Savage- [CDS] Chili-Palmer [sHO] _.-MAVERICK-._ [+30] UNCLE-SID25 [+30] PIMPTRESS We would like to thank these players for their participation and we wish ALL of you the best of luck in your brackets. To the winner of each bracket go the spoils, and in this case, we're talking about a pre-ordered copy of SOCOM: CONFRONTATION for the PS3! GOOD LUCK!
-
SO....who's going to get a candid UF-incorporated snapshot at the booth?!? Dibs on the front page of the UF forum if you do!
-
I certainly think it's cool that they're doing it. Just sucks that they're only doing it for one event.
-
The list has been updated. Those who signed up and have not yet paid their entry fee are as follows: FOR RONIN SOCOM: [KOS]Nashvillan [KØS] -Disciple- [+30] PIMPTRESS [+30] CAV-SCOUT FOR RONIN COD4: jkillwil cBs_Warlock [+30] CAV-SCOUT [APC]HusH- [ThizZ]Neo_Unit001 Please take care of this by no later than 8pm SATURDAY, 07-19, so that brackets may be made. This tourney got a green light from your entries, so please hop on this ASAP. Any clansman who sees their friend listed above, please get a message to them ASAP. Thank you.
-
No no....we just want those who signed up to get it done. If someone signed up and is backing out, that's disappointing, as they were a piece of the number that told UF that it was good to move forward with this. But we don't want an entry fee paid for someone who won't pay, and we don't want to rely on last-minute subs. But thank you.
-
The list has been updated to reflect those who got their entry fee in today.
-
What exactly do they mean by this? Me PERSONALLY, the way they allowed us to "run" clans in the past, I basically considered that a "roster mngmt system," but perhaps I'm wrong? Will you not be able to invite people to an actual clan in Confrontation? That's really the top thing I'm missing nowadays.
-
You can get a warranty for a SIXAXIS?! How much is it? Why bother? Can't you just keep returning one and saying it's FROM the PS3 box?
-
Oh, I disagree. He's an excellent actor. I put him right up there with the versatile talent of Johnny Depp. Check out Bale's movies Harsh Times and The Machinist if you have that mentality on him. They're pretty recent.
