I agree that the definition is unchanged, but the use and lack of respect has greatly changed. What was once unacceptable behavior is now every day banter. We as a society have grown accustomed to showing less respect as well as demanding less. My children get away with some stuff, but disrespect will never be one of them. It starts there.

Okay you fogies. I'm an old guy too and texting is a great tool. I use proper grammar in all my texts. You see, since the creation of the shitty cell phone, Contractors don't like to work up door and window schedules like they used to. They just call you whenever any stupid thing pops in their head. Then of course all the "I told you on the phone" stuff started when I know they didn't. I have a good memory see. So I started making all my contractor customers use text messaging to give me orders so I have proof that they forgot to order something. It has saved me a shitload of time and money in eating stuff they claimed I ordered wrong, when in fact it was ordered exactly as they said. I do hate all the g2g, idk, blah blah blah bullshit. My sons current girlfriend can't spell shit!! Even her letters look like some awful text/chat hand written. That is the first and only logical and usefull purpose for texting I have ever heard of. THAT makes sense.

I actually look forward to it for many reasons. Convenience is probably the biggest reason. Meeting up w/ your clan in CZ's trashy little one bedroom shack situated in the heart of TJ being one of them. I think the overall tone Tow set was one of companies such as Sony requiring everyone to use it's product to achieve the same level of convenience one's accustomed to. Take McDonald's. We cannot realistically argue that a double cheeseburger could be made at home for the same price. Then figure in the convenience of it being prepared for you, and wham-o! We are all a bunch of fat ass's. Same goes for the internet. All of us old enough to remember writing a paper on any subject w/o the internet are simply amazed at the information available on any given subject. The poor people over at Encyclopedia Britannica lost all fuckin hope overnight. Most kids today have no clue what an Encyclopedia even IS. We now live in a society where we MUST use products to get the value of our dollar. It would be foolish of me to pay retail for an item that there is an abundance of to bid on via Ebay. It costs me 3.15 a gallon to drive to the office supply store, but if I purchase it online, they will deliver it free the next day. We are immersed in this world, and it will only grow. I think the best way to summarize is this. Just how far does the rabbit hole go?

I think the argument of "not the first of it's kind" is really at the heart of what Tow is talking about. We have established real relationships and lives outside of our own states and cities with just this type of thing. I have very few real friends in life because I don't trust most people enough to let them get close. Online is different though. I have very little vested most of the time, and can feel free to share things that I might not in person, simply because you are in fact virtual in all sense of the word when playing online. I don't have to trust you, if you wrong me, I simply delete you from my friend's list an move on. These are the things our children are learning, not how to hit a baseball or throw a football. When we were kids, we would wake up Saturday, jump on our bikes, and make sure we were home before dark. My god, I got more exercise in one summer than I have my entire adult life! Nowdays, our children will actually text a friend they are in the same room with. I use chores outdoors for punishment for my kids. Now my children aren't gamers, but they spend a shit load of time on AIM and other online chat sites. Sometimes you get lucky though. I have met a few good friends online who I get to meet and have real relationships with. I have a friend I met on a sport's forum who lives in San Diego. Every year he comes to KC for the Chiefs vs Chargers game, and I go to SD for the match up there. We talk all the time, and he is considered a friend. Same goes for APC. I'm new to the clan, yet I KNOW we are all friends and will have the opportunity to interact with one another in our real lives. Tow regularly sets up "meets" where APC gets together and continue the bond outside of our virtual world. These are a few positive things that have come from these online interactions that have become easier than real life. I doubt there is a single one of us who couldn't admit to using online gaming as an escape from our every day lives. For younger generations this HAS become too simple, and thus they will unfortunately miss out on some things life has to offer. At the same time, it's up to us parents to make sure they experience all things in life. So as much as the power corporations that bank on us are to blame, parents I feel hold the ultimate responsibility. That's my rant, take it for what it's worth.

When I play there's all kinds of contact. Contact between my driver and ALOT of the ground. Contact between my irons and ALOT of the ground. Contact between my, you guessed it, putter and ALOT of the ground. (not the green though....I respect the green) Contact between my cart and certain stationary objects. (usually due to goofing off and drinking to much) Contact between my ball and the trees, bushes, and water. LOL, I can picture that. We have a sim. set-up at a par 3 course here in KC. Ours has a pond RIGHT in front of the green, so everyone clubs up to clear the water. I've only seen it happen once in person, but I about shit myself when my buddy hit a guy right in the small of his back.

4. After stopping for drinks at an illegal bar, a Zimbabwean bus driver found that the 20 mental patients he was supposed to be transporting from Harare to Bulawayo had escaped. Not wanting to admit his incompetence, the driver went to a nearby bus stop and offered everyone waiting there a free ride. That's the exact same logic I used when buying my Desert Eagle .50cal. ;D I like the design, but a weapon like that would end up doing more harm than good.
