Is MAG worth buying?

I'm really on the fence about this game as I'm sure others of you are. So I'm just curious to see what others are thinking. After reading the forums, opinions on this game seem really split but f a lot of UF members are planning on playing, it just might cause the others that are on the fence about this game to join the MAG train.

MAG was pretty damn fun. i only got to play with a couple friends. if you have your whole clan in a squad or platoon then it would be awesome!

 

MAG is way more tactical than socom. so if your about that then mag is for you.

 

if you hate people that spray and pray than mag is for you bc you wont get many kills this way.

 

before you make a final decision rent it, get kills & xp then unlock a bunch of stuff then you will like it better.

that thing with mad is that it's and online only game so if your friends or clan dont move to this game then it becomes practically useless cause playing alone sucks.. If you didnt liked MW2 MP then atleast you paid for a bad ass single campaign! with MAG you gt nothing so IDK!

This last part of the Beta was great. If you have the whole squad full with your clan and have no moron randoms, this game rocks. You can get incredibly tactical. Unlocking some of the attachments made the game that much better. I am really looking forward to the finished product and more maps, modes, and guns/perks. Apparently they already have DLC in the works. A welcome alternative to Socom.

How can I get excited about a something from a company that originally started the downfall of the game I loved most on this planet? The same company that shafted us on fixing the game in a timely manner. The same company that waited until AFTER the game was dead to release content........

I will be picking it up. From the talk amongst us it looks like a dozen or so SxB will be picking it up - hopefully more will follow. This is the type of game you NEED to play with your clan otherwise it just sucks.

 

It has a very 'PC' feel to it which I like and its a nice break from MW2. The controls are much like COD so they're easy to pick up and I like the fact you can tailor your guy to your playing style via skill points.

 

My only gripe is that it doesnt feel like 128 vs 128. Granted I only played sabotage which was 32 vs 32 but even then it didnt feel like there were 32 OpFor because the maps are so damn big.

 

Hopefully the larger battles will feel more congested. A lot of the time I felt like I was alone out there.

yeah domination was entertaining and it was a pretty good glimpse at what it will be like when there are even more people to be added to a map. i thought the beta was great and that it is even better to play with clans or friends on it. only thing that i am wondering about on it is if you can have more than 8 people in a squad and if you can merge squads where you can talk to the other squad too or not.

yeah domination was entertaining and it was a pretty good glimpse at what it will be like when there are even more people to be added to a map. i thought the beta was great and that it is even better to play with clans or friends on it. only thing that i am wondering about on it is if you can have more than 8 people in a squad and if you can merge squads where you can talk to the other squad too or not.

 

I believe the platoon leader can open up the mic system so you can talk to the other squads.

That is the furthest thing from the truth as could be posted, what because it is FPS? Come play with people that know what is going on in game and it will sweeten the pot for you. It's not as mindless as many have posted on it.

 

Classic case of Generation X and Generation Y actually earning something versus instantaneously getting it.

 

I seen someone post that it if you don't like playing with spray and prayers and like to actually aim to shoot people then this game is for you. It has actually brought back some realism to the military shooter game. Noob tubes are not the first weapon you get as a matter of fact you have to earn about 10-12 skill points to get it and if that is what you go for your going to still suck. Now granted there is some things that could be different but for the most part playing as a team to get the objective is what military shooters have always been about. They definitely need to drop the little red dot above your head on the maps so you don't know were the enemy is all the f'n time.

 

Other then that the game is 9/10.

There is a counter to the red icon above your name. I think it dims it some or makes it smaller. Then if you use a silencer it doesn't show either. But the snipers scopes if they see you then you get highlighted no matter what. The snipers are considered scouts as they should be and can help in the game with out even firing a shot.

Unfortunately I never got that far. I got into the BETA late and kept deleting my character every so often to switch factions.

 

I got maybe 5-6 hours max in. What I did see I liked though. ;D
