Mcafee or No Mcafee antivirus?

I have Mcafee on my new computer. It was offered for free through my internet provider.

Every few days or so it tries to do a scan on the computer. Always when i just open the computer up. I usually know nothing as it doesn't warn me. But everything runs real slow because of the scan process. And it pisses me off because I usually don't realize whats going on until late. Then a little icon comes up and reveals that a scan is in process. Mcafee!

I tried looking for a place to turn off the auto scan process but can find one.

Do I really need this BS?

HELL NO.

 

Mcafee SUCKS! It doesn't catch everything, it's cumbersome, and you will NEVER get it fully uninstalled without help.

Avast is very good too

I deleted it...

I rarely download anything. And my emails are on gmail. I'm just going to get the adblock going and the malware thing and see what happens.

you can get so many differant programs for free if ya look hard enough..

 

right now I have AVG Internet security, and it is good..

 

also Kapersky,Eset, Antivir, and some others..

 

my vote would be AVG or Eset myself..

I use Comodo Firewall. And AntiVir as my antivirus. Recommend both.

Lol, Antivirus will always come up, and we still offer AVG.

i use avast on a couple of machines, good free product.

 

that and scan with malwarebytes once in a while.

yeah i use AVG, scan with malwarebytes, and spybot. and i make sure to have the ads here disabled, cause you never know what virus you'll get if you click them accidently
