My dad WAS a TSR (Technical Sales Rep) for Dell for the last 12 years up until 4 months ago, when they decided to fire him based on his performance. Nevermind the fact that Dell sent my dad on and PAID FOR two vacations over the last two years, one to Cabo and one to Puerto Rico because of his HIGH performance record and outselling the other sales teams. Over the years he has also been awarded both a digital camera and 42" LCD based on his performance. The real reason he was fired? Age discrimination. My dad made too much money and they knew they could hire some fresh outta college idiot for 1/4 of what he was making. Not to mention the fact that he was only 3 years from retirement. He watched it happen to everyone around him and kept counting his blessings that he was the one they hadn't "laid off" that time. And then out of nowhere, "You're fired." (Oh and did I mention that the other younger employees who couldn't meet quotas were NOT fired based on performance?) So, depending on what you needed, I COULD have helped steer you in the right direction with the help of my dad. But, unfortunately, at this point and time, not much help here other than to tell you that if something is wrong and you expect Dell to make it right ... forget about it. If it's not in their best interest, it ain't gonna happen! Dell sucks and I would avoid them like the plague. Big business at it's best!

Let me rephrase that one ... I believe that dinosaurs lived here MUCH, MUCH, MUCH LONGER than 4,000 years ago. So, yes, I do believe that dinosaurs inhabited the earth, just not at the same time as young earth creationist believe.

Just for the record, creationist does not equal belief that dinosaurs lived on the earth just over 4,000 years ago. But with that being said ... "creationist" is a VERY general term. There are many creationist views. Her specific views are Young Earth Creationism. I responded because I whole-heartedly believe in God and that he created the heavens and earth. HOWEVER, I do not believe that dinosaurs lived just over 4,000 years ago. That's ridiculous. So I just wanted to make sure that those kinds of ridiculous claims were not being tied to creationism in general.

I LOVED it when McCain was talking about Iran and he said, "The Iranians have a lousy government, so therefore their economy is lousy ... ." Now, what kind of conclusion could one draw about the U.S. from that statement? Such a stupid thing to say. Certainly makes me want to vote another Repub into office. :-X

Let's be clear here ... tax the RICH people

Well, there are many reasons why someone would choose an ARM over a fixed rate. Most people who get ARMs don't plan on keeping that loan for the life of the loan. And with the rate fixed for the first 2, 3, or even 5 years, they are a great idea if you aren't going to be in that home for any longer than that. I think the problem lies in the fact that people were sold loans that they didn't understand. There are alot of people out there who bought their first home, people who wanted a piece of the American Dream, who never thought they could have it, They trusted a loan officer to lead them in the right direction and ultimately left their fate in the hands of sharks. Sad thing. Greed always screws somebody!
-
I was wondering earlier today, what if the gov't. did nothing, would other countries come to our rescue because it's going to affect them too.
-
You never know, it could. Rates aren't fixed. Do your best to pay your way as you go through college. I have a friend who went back to college, after being married, with 3 kids, and payed his way through a private christian university and graduated owing NOTHING! He paid his way as he went. (And he works as a supervisor for Wal-Mart Distribution, so he's certainly not wealthy or making beaucoup money.)

This reads as though you're saying there are no Democrat "FAT CATS". That Republicans are solely to blame. LOL! That's so funny. Guilty conscience? You are reading more into that sentence than what is there. It means EXACTLY what it says ... THANK GOD the Dems are pushing to add legislation to the bail out that will keep the CEO's of the companies who are failing from retiring rich as hell. If the Republicans were pushing for this, it would have said, "THANK GOD the Repubs ... ." Now, how you got what you did from that is beyond me. I think something needs to be done, but I think that we can't just blindly run into handing over trilliions of dollars without some kind of thought put into it to protect the taxpayers and somehow (no matter how insignificant it may seem), keep the greedy people who managed their companies (and the world, in reality) into this crap from walking (or private jetting) away to some private island to spend the rest of their life in luxury while the rest of America suffers.

Atari ... Pong for sure. Eventually, I came to own Space Invaders Donkey Kong Frogger Pole Position Defender Ms. Pac Man My friend had the Intellivision. Does anyone remember the game that was the little airplane that flew over the water and you had to fly over the gas tanks to fill it up and shoot stuff out of the way like boats in the water. Then every now and then a plane would fly across the screen and you had to shoot them? I LOVED that game! And Pitfall was another good one. OH, I just remembered ... River Raid! Good times.

Yeah, you should be fine. The problem is when people RELY on credit cards to buy food, pay the electric bill, etc.
-
IMO, the biggest problem with all of this is the fact that our country LIVES on credit. If the government does NOT "bail out" Wall Street, then lending will cease to exist as we know it, people won't have the $ to spend, so people quit buying, businesses lose because no one is spending, MORE businesses fail, laying off workers, creating more financial crisis for Joe Blow, more foreclosures, and the cycle just continues to repeat. Unfortunately, we've reached a place in our society where big financial businesses cannot be allowed to fail and so the government HAS to step in, clean up the mess, and put the burden on the taxpayers. Why? Allowing these businesses to fail would result in the biggest economic disaster you or I or even our parents has ever seen. The consequences of letting them fail are much more dire than not. THANK GOD for the Dems and their thinking of the taxpayers and wanting to make sure the fat cats who caused all of this don't retire rich as hell and the gov't. ultimately HELPS the people who are being foreclosed on. Yes, I know, some people PUT themselves in this situation based on their choice of an ARM over a fixed rate mtg., BUT, right or wrong, these people need help staying in their homes. If their mtg. rates weren't so high, then foreclosure may not be happening at all. (Ok, sorry, let me get back on track. I don't want to start on a mtg. rant.) Thankfully, if you DON'T live on credit or you don't own a business that requires credit (bank loans) to run (which I think would have to be impossible) you shouldn't be in so much trouble as the rest of those who do. Yes, prices will sky rocket, but you trim the fat in your budget so you can buy groceries and pay your bills and all will be well. We'll all be affected in some way, but some won't feel the effects as much as others. The other biggest worry would be hoping you don't lose your job in all of this. When layoffs start happening, it won't matter if you live on credit or not ... you better hope you don't get caught up in the layoffs. No, the world isn't coming to an end. Yes, things look grim, but I think if you play smart and FRUGAL then you will make it through this ok. Don't let the fear mongers ( ) around here freak you out.

Some of the latest I read ... "Sources tell TMZ.com that Barker and DJ AM saved their own lives by jumping out the door of the burning plane, almost immediately after the small jet came to a halt. Barker and DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein (and who was once engaged to Nicole Richie), were at a burn center in Augusta, Georgia. Beth Frits, spokeswoman at Joseph Still Burn Center, told CNN both men had "extensive burns." TMZ.com reports that Barker has been burned from his waist down and that DJ AM's face was severely burned and is being tended to." AND ... "US Weekly reports DJ AM was able to call his mother from the ambulance after Friday night’s deadly plane crash before doctors placed him in a coma. Medical staff at the Augusta, Georgia burn centre where he and Travis Barker are being treated, say he is lucky to be alive. DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, suffered severe burns to his face in the crash in Columbus, North Carolina. A source tells US Weekly Nicole Ritchie, DJ AM’s former fiancé, is “in shock†and “wishes only the best for Adam and hopes he recovers from this.†Meanwhile, Travis Barker’s former wife Shanna Moakler has rushed to Augusta to be with her ex husband. Her mother tells People magazine Moakler is “totally crushed.†Barker suffered extensive burns below his waist. People reports Barker was taken to hospital by ambulance after refusing to be transported by helicopter Barker’s bodyguard and assistant were killed in the crash along with the plane’s captain and co-pilot. Barker and DJ AM are the only survivors." I also read that TMZ is reporting that Travis is expected to make a full recovery. -

UPDATED INFO. Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and DJ AM were critically injured in a plane crash Friday night (September 19) in Columbia, South Carolina. They had just performed at a free T-Mobile-sponsored show in the Five Points area, along with Perry Farrell and headliner Gavin DeGraw. Though early reports had suggested that DeGraw may have been on the plane at the time of the crash, DeGraw's father, Wayne, told MTV News that he'd spoken to his son Saturday morning and that he was fine. Farrell's manager, Peter Katsis, confirmed that Farrell was not on the plane. According to Lynne Douglas, public information officer for the Columbia Metro Airport, the crash took place just before midnight on Friday and involved a private Learjet with six passengers onboard. While taking off, the plane, which never left the ground, began sending up sparks and skidded off the end of the runway through a fence separating the airfield from a nearby roadway. It then crossed the roadway and ended up in an embankment, catching fire on impact. Douglas said two passengers — who were later confirmed to be AM and Barker — escaped the aircraft while it was on the ground, while the other two passengers and crew members died in the crash. An eye witness told NBC news affiliate WIS that he saw a fireball crossing the road near the airport and then realized it was a plane. He saw jet fuel shoot out across the roadway and then saw two men, who were both on fire, patting each other down to extinguish the flames. Beth Frits, a spokesperson for the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia, confirmed that AM (born Adam Goldstein) and Barker were transported to a hospital in Columbia, following the crash. They were transferred — AM by helicopter and Barker by ambulance — to the Still Center soon after. She told CNN that both men had "extensive burns." Lexington County Deputy Coroner Brian Setree confirmed for MTV News on Saturday morning that three men and a woman were killed in the crash. Just after 10 a.m. Saturday, Setree identified two of the crash victims: the plane's pilot, Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim, California, and her co-pilot, James Bland, who was 52 and lived in Carlsbad, California. At 10:40, Setree confirmed that Barker's assistant, Chris "Little Chris" Baker, also died in the crash. He was 29, and lived in Studio City, California. At 11:30 a.m., Setree released the name of the fourth person who died: Barker's security guard, Charles Still, 25, of Los Angeles. The National Transportation Safety Board has scheduled a press conference for 11:30 a.m., and it is expected more details about the accident will be revealed at that time. Barker, 32, and DJ AM, 35, were the house band for the 2008 VMAs. -
CRAZY! http://apnews.excite.com/article/20080920/D93AHAGG1.html 4 killed in SC plane crash; drummer, DJ injured Sep 20, 11:18 AM (ET) By PAGE IVEY COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and celebrity DJ AM were critically injured in a fiery Learjet crash in South Carolina that killed four people, authorities said Saturday. Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the plane carrying six people was departing shortly before midnight Friday when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. The plane headed for Van Nuys, Calif., went off a runway, through a fence and crashed on a nearby road, officials said. Barker and DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, were in critical condition at a burn center in Augusta, Ga., about 75 miles southwest of Columbia, hospital spokeswoman Beth Frits said. Two other passengers and two crew members died, said the National Transportation Safety Board. Their identities were not immediately available. At the crash site Saturday, the air was still heavy with the odor of jet fuel. A trail of black soot led off a runway, across a five-lane road next to the airport and up an embankment. The nose of the aircraft was gone and the roof was missing from two-thirds of the charred plane. Barker and Goldstein had performed together under the name TRVSDJ-AM at a free concert in Columbia on Friday night. "It's absolutely terrible and tragic," Columbia Mayor Bob Coble said. The show, which included performances by former Jane's Addiction singer Perry Ferrell and singer Gavin DeGraw, drew 10,000 people into the streets of Five Points, the neighborhood near the University of South Carolina, Coble said. Neither Ferrell nor DeGraw were in the plane, their representatives told AP on Saturday. One concertgoer said TRVSDJ-AM's performance was unique and different. "It was literally one of the best shows I've ever scene," said Brett Flashnick, a freelance photographer who works for The Associated Press and attended the concert for a local newspaper. Barker, 32, was one of the more colorful members of the multiplatinum-selling punk rock band Blink-182, whose biggest album was 1999's CD "Enema of the State," which sold more than five million copies in the United States alone. After Blink-182 disbanded in 2005, Barker went on to form the rock band (+44) - pronounced "plus forty-four." He also starred in the MTV reality series "Meet the Barkers" with former Miss USA Shanna Moakler, to whom he was married at the time. The show documented the former couple's lavish wedding and life. Their later split, reconcilation and subsqequent break-up made them tabloid favorites. Goldstein is a popular DJ for hire who at one time was engaged to Nicole Richie. Barker and Goldstein performed as part of the house band at the MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month. --- AP Music Writer Nekesa Mumbi Moody in New York contributed to this report.

What about us Arkansans??? Right now we have tornado warnings in parts of the state. I'm hoping that it will move more North than East and we won't get much, but we're preparing for bad weather. So far, so good. Going to keep my fingers crossed.
